Time and The Dragon (Part 1)

What happens when a bored cookie of time gets challenged by a dragon who will fight anyone and everything? Well, let’s see…Shall we? What? I’m not the one fighting. Don’t look at me like that, I have a guild to watch I am not fighting a dragon! Anyway. Let’s go!~ *rummages in a time rift, before holding up a piece of paper and starts writing*

Sometimes you just get bored. Like really bored. And sometimes that boredom makes you do things that others will say is dangerous. But hey, that’s life, right? More so when you’re a Cookie who can make time bend to your will at a mere snap of your fingers or a blink of your eye. To you the danger is a game and even the minor inconvenience that may show up is snipped away within a breath. When you control time so freely, some would say challenging you to a fight is foolish. After all, if you change time couldn’t you just stop the fight? Well, sometimes your challenger doesn’t quite care about what abilities you possess…

It’s just another day on Earthbread, and Pitaya Dragon Cookie is searching for a new opponent to face off against. Someone they hadn’t challenged yet that would serve as the perfect test of strength. But who would be a formidable opponent? Most of the Cookies they’d fought were weaklings. Hardly a challenge for such a powerful dragon and their blade. They searched for days, even weeks, but had yet to find a suitable opponent…Up until they found a place where time was behaving strangely. An area where the random clock on a pole was spinning wildly for no discernible reason. How peculiar. Almost as if…

The thought was interrupted as a rift in time itself was opened as if cut by scissors. And indeed, it was cut open by scissors. Emerging from a the rift was a small Cookie riding upon the scissors with an ever present smile across their face wearing a large hat on their head with comically round hair fluttering behind them too. What a strange Cookie, the other thought. Strangely familiar, yet not. Maybe seen once before, or not. They then sat down on the scissors and looked at Pitaya Dragon Cookie cheerily. Seemingly unfazed by the dragons fierce appearance. Was they simply not afraid, or was they all knowing? It was difficult to tell, and the dragon did not care. If this cookie could open a rift so easily, maybe they were powerful too! So now was the chance to see if the Cookie would fight.

“You! Sssstrange cookie. You sssseem ssstrong, so why not fight me to tessst your ssstrrength?” Pitaya Dragon Cookie spoke loud and clear, but the other Cookie did not seem afraid in the slightest. Still sat there with the same smile, an expression that remained even as they seemed to think about the question itself. Would they accept the challenge, or shy away from it much like many others? They finally did speak, still smiling ever so ominously.

“Challenge you, a dragon? Hm. I suppose it would bring some excitement! I have been quite bored lately.” The small Cookie replied, seemingly very delighted at the thought of messing around with a dragon. What may be a fight to this dragon is a game to them. A game of time! Not like many others had been able to enjoy the time games. And this dragon didn’t seem keen on knowing who they are. Or maybe the dragon did, but didn’t seem to care too much about it. Oh well.

“Then brace yourssself!” Pitaya Dragon Cookie moved first, opening their wings and swinging their blade forward as they attempted to strike the Cookie. But what was this? The Cookie had suddenly vanished and now it was..Night? Huh. It was day just seconds ago as Pitaya Dragon Cookie landed back on the ground and looked all around for any signs of the Cookie..And then there they were again! Back in the same spot, looking at the dragon, still smiling as before without a single scratch to be seen. “Hey! You sssswitched placessss!” The dragon shouted.

“Of course! You came charging at me and I thought you’d enjoy a change of scenery. Isn’t night such a lovely time of day? A time where most Cookies are sleeping.” They remarked with the same smile, not seeming to elaborate why time had changed so suddenly. This was, of course, just a few hours ahead of the encounter. Nothing too serious, at least not yet. Could be worse, sure, but this fight wasn’t meant to be fair you know. It was supposed to be fun! The dragon just stared back.

“Grrr….Sssstay ssstill!” Pitaya Dragon Cookie moved with another charge yet again with a swing of their blade…What. It was…Day? Again!? Impossible! They landed yet again and started looking for the strange Cookie once more. And there they was, yet again, on the opposite side of them once more. Still smiling, still sitting on the scissors, unwavering and untouched again. “Explain yourssself!” Pitaya Dragon Cookie shouted angrily.

“Now where would the fun be in explaining anything? You should learn with experience! It’s much more fun that way.” The Cookie spoke calmly, still grinning as before. The dragon was trying their best to fight this Cookie, but didn’t think it through too much. The clock hands spinning wildly should have been a hint at who’d they found. But alas, it was too late to change their mind now. Pitaya Dragon Cookie didn’t even bother to speak, they charged and unleashed a burst of dragon fire at the Cookie after turning into their dragon form!

The Cookie simply smiled, a shadow crossing their face before they hopped off their scissors and swirled them above their head before swinging them open as the dragon and flames neared. And soon both the dangers had vanished into thin air alongside the Cookie as well. Where did they go?…

He can’t help but feel the slightest bit of an elation slide down his spine, the smallest moment of an excitement at the small, but obviously toothy smile the Queen had given him, something that has his hood perk up a little and his back stand stiffened and straight, the brief smile that had also grow over his face now wiped away, schooled into a gaze of professionalism, of proper and formal obedience. “Yesss, of course, Your Majesssty. I will be happy to offer you the most violent and gruessssome of the machines that I have in place to offer right away. I have a perfect craft in mind already, actually, it was one that I had been planning to usssse one day on that accurssssed Radio Demon, and I think you’ll find it to be a suitably horrid and bloody one.”

He inhales, briefly prepared to summon his Eggbois to bring the craft forward, then pauses in his tracks. “..Pardon me, Your Majesty, but what do you mean by testing them mysssself? If you mean tesssting them on live bodies, I can assure you, that has been performed plenty timessss.”

A monarch should communicate with her subjects, shouldn't she? Perhaps she paid some of them too much of her attention as she clutched a couple of their throats.

Perhaps this one will be beneficial. There was only one way to find out and ascertain his genuine worth. While she could just have someone else do it, the more sad and innocent the offender, the more likely they were to be too afraid to discuss her extracurricular activities in private.

This may be extremely enjoyable. He appeared willing to accomplish anything Lilith had requested of him! So, just on her terms of test, she wanted to push the theory. Loyalty was quite vital in the monarchy, after all!
