I’m a fan of Hanukkah. I love the way the candles smell as wax drips down the menorah, I love finding cute little presents for my nieces and nephews, and of course, I love the food.
What’s not to like when your religion literally dictates you eat fried food for eight days? Sure, I already have high cholesterol thanks to genetics, but I will never pass up an opportunity to eat fried potatoes, especially when they’re rabbi-approved.
But recently, I learned about another Hanukkah food tradition that I’m absolutely obsessed with: cheese. Why do I love this? One, because it’s based on the badass story of the forgotten Hanukkah heroine, Judith, who, in order to take down the evil Holofernes, who had taken over her city of Jerusalem, fed him so much cheese and wine that he eventually fell asleep — and she beheaded him. And two, because it’s cheese.
As Ronnie Fein wrote for the Nosher, her family honors the story of Judith every Hanukkah with cheese latkes. And while I’ve never had one, I’m sure that’s delicious.
But I have a modest proposal for you all: Why not make mozzarella sticks an official Hanukkah food?
Both fried and full of cheese, mozzarella sticks can be a deeply meaningful Hanukkah food while also doubling as the best appetizer ever, and that’s just a fact. Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and requiring zero utensils, it’s hard for me to find a more perfect food. And now that I’ve realized they fit perfectly with the Hanukkah tradition, I’m even more excited to celebrate the Festival of Lights with this festival of bites (I’m so sorry, friends, I couldn’t help myself).
So, how can you enjoy mozzarella sticks this holiday season?
For starters, you can go to any diner or TGI Fridays and order as many baskets as your Hanukkah heart desires. I’ve also heard good things about Trader Joe’s frozen mozzarella sticks. But did you know it’s also super easy to make them at home? With string cheese?!
Yes, it’s true. After Googling, “Can you make mozzarella sticks out of string cheese?” one recent desperate evening, I found this recipe and promptly gave it a whirl. I cut the string cheese sticks in half for a slightly easier frying situation. The result was amazing, deep-fried goodness even better than what you get in any restaurant, all in a matter of minutes.
If you’re looking for a way to differentiate your Hanukkah mozzarella sticks from your everyday mozzarella sticks, you can skip the marinara sauce for a different kind of dip. As a nice Midwestern gal, I’m here to say that ranch makes an excellent mozz stick accoutrement, but you can also play around with tahini, guacamole, or even some chili jam. Also, you can dip them in nothing. They are already perfect, after all.
As you prepare for your Hanukkah celebrations this year, I hope you remember dear Judith and the miracle of oil, and honor both with a batch of fried cheese. Your rabbi wouldn’t want it any other way.

Franchise Opportunity in Restaurant Industry
Franchising in the restaurant industry offers entrepreneurs a proven business model with built-in brand recognition, operational support, and marketing resources. Here are some popular franchise opportunities within the restaurant industry:
Fast Food Chains: Fast food franchises such as McDonald's, Subway, Burger King, KFC, and Taco Bell are well-established brands with widespread recognition and a global presence. These franchises typically offer a menu of quick-service favorites like burgers, sandwiches, fried chicken, and tacos.
Casual Dining Restaurants: Casual dining franchises offer a relaxed atmosphere and a diverse menu of comfort food favorites. Examples include Olive Garden, Applebee's, Chili's, TGI Fridays, and Outback Steakhouse. These franchises often cater to families, groups, and individuals looking for a sit-down dining experience.
Pizza Chains: Pizza franchises are popular options for entrepreneurs interested in the restaurant industry. Brands like Domino's Pizza, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Little Caesars, and Marco's Pizza offer delivery, carryout, and dine-in options with a variety of pizza flavors and toppings.
Coffee Shop Chains: Coffee shop franchises appeal to consumers seeking specialty coffee beverages, baked goods, and light snacks in a cozy atmosphere. Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts, Tim Hortons, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and Caribou Coffee are prominent coffee shop franchise options.
Fast Casual Concepts: Fast casual franchises offer a blend of fast food convenience and casual dining quality, often with a focus on fresh, customizable menu options. Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera Bread, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Shake Shack, and Jimmy John's are examples of successful fast casual franchises.
Ice Cream and Frozen Dessert Chains: Ice cream and frozen dessert franchises are popular choices for entrepreneurs seeking a sweet treat concept. Dairy Queen, Baskin-Robbins, Cold Stone Creamery, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, and Rita's Italian Ice offer a variety of frozen desserts and customizable options.

Food Truck Franchises: Food truck franchises offer a flexible and mobile option for entrepreneurs interested in the restaurant industry. Brands like Cousins Maine Lobster, The Halal Guys, Kona Ice, and Cousins Subs offer food truck franchise opportunities with proven concepts and support.
Before investing in a restaurant franchise, entrepreneurs should conduct thorough research, evaluate financial requirements, and consider factors such as location, competition, and market demand. Working with a reputable franchise consultant and seeking advice from current franchisees can help entrepreneurs make informed decisions and maximize their chances of success in the restaurant industry.

People who would typically eat out have been forced to rely on their own devices over the past year, everywhere in the world. Evenings spent at the greatest Italian restaurant in town have given way to evenings spent at home making homemade pasta. The way that people buy groceries and prepare meals at home has drastically changed as a result of this phenomenon. Home cooks have emerged from the ranks of culinary novices who once stuck to frozen dinners and Hamburger Helper, yearning to relive the flavors inspired by around the world that they missed. The food industry has witnessed a number of new food trends on the rise as more people than ever cook at home and get more creative with their meals. Almost all of these trends have been significantly influenced by COVID-19. The world was already moving toward a more health-conscious eating culture, and the pandemic has only made people want better, more reasonably priced food even more. The top food trends of 2021—from plant-based substitutes to superfoods with medicinal properties—will probably become enduring mainstays in the future of cuisine. Which of these have you tried? Which ones are you dying to try? Which ones do you think we missed? Tell us in the comments. Let us get started now! Whole30, Paleo, and Keto, oh my! Although many diets have gained cult followings, not everyone is prepared to make a complete lifestyle shift. The idea of wanting to "have your cake and eat it too" has permeated the diet industry, as common foods are being replaced with low-carb alternatives everywhere. More people than ever before are looking for lower-carb substitutes for some of their favorite high-carb foods, such as zucchini lasagna and pre-packaged foods like cauliflower gnocchi. Another excellent option for a low-carb meal is pork. Try this delicious recipe for pork belly tacos. With the prevalence of anxiety and depression rising globally, a growing number of people are turning to food as a means of recovery. In this regard, superfoods that are abundant in probiotics, antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and B vitamins have gained particular popularity. This year, we are seeing a huge rise in recipes for better mental health, from probiotic-rich Greek yogurt bowls to smoothies made with omega-3-rich flaxseeds. This new idea of recipes focused on mental health is probably a culinary fad that will persist. I should make it clear right away that I am not referring to TGI Friday's takeout. In order to survive after COVID-19 took over in 2020 and closed down in-house dining globally, a lot of nearby businesses turned to takeout. And everyone devoured it! (Yes, I meant to pun.) Getting takeout was more than just a way for many people to avoid cooking on bad days. It was their way of helping out small businesses in the restaurant industry at a time when it was in need of assistance. Many people have become accustomed to occasionally indulging in their favorite noodles from the comfort of their couch, even with restaurants reopening. To put it another way, this culinary fad is probably here to stay. viewpoint Plant-based foods are becoming more and more popular at the grocery store, and not just vegans. Even meat eaters will see a significant increase in the number of plant-based meals chosen in 2021. The flexitarian diet is introduced. People are becoming more knowledgeable about the advantages of consuming fewer animal products due to worries about the environment and our general health. Does this imply that Americans who eat meat are suddenly abstaining from beef? In the negative. It does, however, indicate that people are starting to replace some of their weekly plant-based meals with animal substitutes in an effort to reduce their intake of animal products. Check out this delicious dark chocolate peanut butter mousse recipe that is dairy-free and vegan. Perhaps all of the culinary experts are thinking, huh? If you have been baking bread from scratch for years, this might not seem like much of a novel culinary craze.
But the rise of homemade bread recipes was one of the most well-liked trends brought about by quarantine cooking. Bread was among the first things to go from grocery store shelves in early 2020, around the time of the pandemic. When we first realized we would be without our avocado toasts and sandwiches, a lot of us became anxious. The scarcity of store-bought bread caused a sharp rise in home-baked bread and bread-making kits after the initial panic passed. Now that so many people know how simple and rewarding it is to make homemade bread, I don’t see this food trend disappearing anytime soon. Check out our recipe for no-knead bread. 6. Mocktails. It seems like mocktails have never received the recognition they merit. That is, until now. Let us face it: the majority of us overindulged in alcohol at home in the previous year. Who can blame us when a pandemic sweeps the globe and our days of going out to bars seem like a distant memory? Numerous people made the decision to cut back on their alcohol intake or go dry for the first few months of the year (Dry January, anyone?). The mocktail is finally making a comeback thanks to growing awareness of the negative effects of alcohol consumption and the growing appeal of craft beverages. Bars are expanding their cocktail menus to include alcohol-free options, and food bloggers are creating non-alcoholic takes on their best alcoholic recipes. We think this will be a memorable moment for the mocktail for a long time! That is it for now, people. These were some of the biggest culinary fads for 2021, most of which I am pretty sure are here to stay. Which of these new food trends are you going to try this year? I would love to hear your thoughts on them. Personally, I will undoubtedly keep using my couch to support my neighborhood companies. Arby’s Venison Sandwich – Available for One Day Only!
Arby’s has one of the most exclusive releases this fall – the mouth-watering Venison Sandwich. The reason this sandwich is so exclusive is because it is only getting a single day release! Featuring a thick cut of veal steak with crispy onion rings and a rich juniper berry sauce, the Venison Sandwich isn’t one to miss. Bigger and Better Ribs at TGI Fridays
Fans of TGI Fridays delicious baby back ribs are in for a treat this fall, as the company officially releases their new Fridays Big Rib. These ribs are 30 percent larger than the previous baby back ribs they are replacing, so it’s certainly a new release worth getting excited for. Marinated in a secret blend of smoke flavours and citrus, the full rack of ribs is now served on a chopping board and come with two sides, all for a very modest $12.99. The new bigger ribs are available in the following flavours - Jack Daniels BBQ - Fridays Original BBQ - Sweet Memphis (new) - Savoury Bacon Crusted (new) Fridays Big Rib are available from October 18, 2017.
Chuck E Cheese’s Candy Corn Pizza
To get in the Halloween spirit, Chuck E Cheese has released a rather intriguing sounding candy corn pizza – although it’s not quite as it seems. For one, there is no candy corn topping on the pizza, which we’re convinced is a good thing, as some combinations are best left alone! However, the pizza does come with toppings meant to mimic the appearance of candy corn, plus you get a side of actual candy corn just to keep things authentic. The toppings consist of a garlic mozzarella at the centre of the pizza, which is then surrounded by cheddar cheese, and you can even try a slice for free if you arrive on the hour between 4pm and 8pm leading up to Halloween.
New $2 Breakfast Pockets at Jack in the Box
Jack in the Box has an exclusive new breakfast item available for a limited run this fall. The breakfast pocket is a slight variation on the company’s popular breakfast sandwiches, this time being wrapped and grilled in a warm flower tortilla, costing a very reasonable $2. Two flavours are currently available: The Sausage and Egg Breakfast Pocket – features a sausage patty, fried egg, and two slices of American cheese. Ham and Egg Breakfast Pocket – features grilled ham, fried egg, and two slices of American cheese
Starbucks Unveils Two New Fall Drinks
Starbucks was one of the first places to make the most of the fall season by introducing their legendary pumpkin spice latte, which has made its annual return this year, but that hasn’t stopped them from coming up with something new for this year either. As part of their fall menu, Starbucks has introduced the new Maple Pecan Latte and the Dark Mocha Frappuccino. The Maple Pecan Latte is a combination of espresso and steamed milk (like a regular latte), then combined with a maple pecan sauce and dusted with an autumn sugar topping. The Dark Mocha Frappuccino combines coffee with milk and ice, blending it all together with some rich extra dark cocoa and then topping with plenty of whipped cream. You can enjoy this and any other beverage at Starbucks in their limited-edition fall-themed cups, available in orange, teal, and plum!
Enjoy a Free Subway When You Buy a Sub Sandwich This National Sandwich Day
Not only has Subway’s fall-special Autumn Carved Turkey Sandwich available again this year, but you get a free sandwich with any sub you buy on November 3. The reason? To celebrate national sandwich day of course! The deal runs exclusively on November 3, and any sandwich and 30oz drink you buy comes with a second sandwich of the same or lesser value free of charge! According to the suit, the “TGI Friday’s Mozzarella Snack Sticks” that can be found in the freezer aisle at grocery stores nationwide actually contain cheddar cheese.
Only fine print on the back informs customers of the type of cheese used in the product, but multiple images show the prominent placement of “mozzarella” on the packaging.

spill some secrets! | accepting | @keyandbeemagician, love the ice queen 💙
Tumblr media
🍏 (for something they secretly wish didn’t exist)
Outwardly, of course, anything having to do with misogyny and other forms of injustice/bigotry are top of the list. And kind of coming off that, secretly she has a very complicated relationship with beauty standards; she does hate that they exist, despite trying very hard to abide by them. she hates that she feels like she has to, and (subconsciously) worries that speaking out about it will make her be taken less seriously by her male colleagues.
🍎 (for something they secretly wish did exist)
All of that ^^ being said, she wishes that she could wake up with hair done, makeup on, outfit put together and on, and breakfast eaten. Anything to make the day easier while maintaining her aesthetic. Comfortable heels are another thing she’d love.
📲 (talk about someone/something you dislike, but only pretend to like)
“My boss says that I’m good at research, but I hate doing research. It’s the most boring thing--my favorite thing is talking to people and catching them in their lies. I feel like my talents are being wasted when they stick me in the back with a laptop and a stack of books. But I’m not about to piss off the one who signs my paycheck so...”
👁‍🗨 (talk about someone/something you like, but pretend to dislike)
“Oh, I think I’m legally obligated to bring up TGI Friday’s and Taco Bell. I try to eat local because obviously, but there is something about the sugar coma inducing drinks at Friday’s and...everything about Taco Bell, I know it’s disgusting, I know most of Friday’s food is probably frozen, I will turn my nose up if anyone but Foggy’s in the room but secretly every so often I’ll put on one of my Forever 21 dresses and pretend to be my twin if anyone sees me. Sorry, Regina.”
🍻 (for something bad/mischievous you did as a child or teen that your parents don’t know about)
“Hmm...” She thinks a moment before chuckling softly to herself. “I wasn’t too much of a rebel, but the first time I smoked weed was on school grounds. I didn’t get caught or anything but I was supposed to be in class. Don’t think I ever told my mom that one.”

In the Shadows
A/N: A fourth (and probably last) part to Quite a Show, Someone’s Coming and Pull Over, where Spencer and the Reader take their escapades outside a restaurant they frequent. @coveofmemories @sexualemobitch @jamiemelyn @unstoppableangel8 @iammostdefinitelyonfire26 @hogwarts-konoha @sweetg
                                                               ----
“Are you absolutely sure about this one?” You giggled after asking Spencer for the 50th time about your next exhibitionist escapade. There had been nothing wrong with the last few times. It had been amazing, which is why you seemed to be pushing the boundaries more and more, but Spencer could possibly face repercussions from work if you were to get caught, and this next stop of the outside-sex train was the most likely of the four to get you caught with your pants down - literally.
Spencer nodded his head. “Definitely,” he smiled as he puckered his lips and pressed them to your cheek. “I mean if we were going to TGI Friday’s or something like that, I would be a little more worried, but the Thai place on fifth is so small and isolated that I think we’ll be fine.”
After grabbing a quick drink of water, he gave you his arm. “Ready to go, beautiful?”
“You say beautiful like it’s my name,” you said softly, a delicate blush coating your cheeks.
Spencer leaned over and pushed your hair out of your face as he kissed you on the forehead. “I just call it how I see it.”
                                                              ----
Dinner was absolutely delicious. But honestly, at the Thai place, you’d never ordered anything that wasn’t amazing. There was barely anyone else there, which was great for you - less people to catch you in the act, and as you ate the anticipation built up to the point where neither of you were going to need much foreplay. Also a plus in the not getting caught department.
Considering you'd both been very hungry, which wasn’t a surprise due to all the sex you’d been having these past few weeks, you went to dinner slightly early, so the regular dinner crowd was just coming in. “That might actually be good for us,” you said, noticing the slightly worried look on your husband’s face.
“Yea?”
“Sure. They’ll all be super hungry and waiting for their food, so they won’t be paying attention to the slight thudding of my ass against the wall out back.” You’d said it a little louder than intended, but no one heard. Spencer’s mouth dropped open at your words. Since you’d started this whole exhibitionist thing, you’d become much more open with your wording and both of you were enjoying it.
Once the bill was paid, you went outside and walked around the back of the restaurant. There was a mom and pop antique shop on one side, and there tended to be more traffic there in the mornings, and on the other side stood a small hardware store, also rarely frequented at dinner time, which meant that both of the store owners would probably be getting ready to go home. Although this restaurant, and the idea of having sex outside had been his to begin with, he looked around tentatively one last time to make sure there was no one in sight.
Eventually he was satisfied with the lack of people and gently backed you into the wall and hiked up your skirt, moving the lace away from your center just enough. He took you by surprise by dropping to his knees and dipping his head under your skirt to taste your arousal. At first, his lips were the only thing to touch you, but he couldn’t tease you too much because he couldn’t handle it himself. Groaning, he licked up your center and stood back up.
The likelihood of getting caught here was so much higher than a little alcove on the beach or in the relative safety of a dressing room in a mall, but it was exactly that thought that coaxed you forward, your hands roaming down to his pants to unzip his fly. Just in case you needed to make a quick getaway, you only pushed Spencer’s pants down enough to get the job done. His length was hard and ready for you, and you moaned at the feel of him in your hand. “Please,” you said softly. He nuzzled his nose against your neck and up behind your ear, before coming to meet you eye to eye as he placed himself inside your wet heat. “Oh, this is a good angle.” You laughed. “Why don’t we have wall sex more often?”
“Because it hurts my weak ass arms,” he chuckled as your walls clenched around him. “But maybe that’s an excuse to keep doing this. It’s a workout for my arms.”
You bit down on his bottom lip, his teeth and tongue clashing against yours while you laughed into his mouth. “Exactly. I’m just helping you with your workout and you get a tight and wet pussy in the process. Really no downsides.”
Spencer’s tongue peeked out slightly to wash your upper lip before he devoured you bit by bit. With each thrust, your legs tightened around his waist, and your heels into his ass. “I don’t have an ass,” he laughed. “Why do you like my ass so much?”
“You have the perfect ass,” you replied. “And it’s all mine.” You gasped as he thrust upward again, and in turn you gripped more of his ass in your hands. The entire experience was hurried and frenzied, probably because you were both fully aware that you could be caught at any second. The sun was on its way down, which was serving as better cover for you, the shadows casting over your sweat-slickened bodies pushed up against the concrete walls. “Oh my god, fuck Spence. Right there.” You practically went still at the sensation; he was situated in the perfect position to hit your g-spot repeatedly. “Please, don’t stop.”
Spencer cradled your head to protect it from the wall as he thrust into you over and over again. The feeling had you frozen in place, arching backward as you held your breath and repeated Spencer’s name in perpetuity - like a prayer. One that he was more than willing to answer. As you came, you cried out and arched back further into the wall. Your body was spread out in front of him, a complete mess, but undeniably beautiful, and the image was enough to push him over the edge as well.
As you started to move again, pulling your underwear back in place and flattening out your skirt, you kissed Spencer’s neck, licking at the saltiness that accumulated there. He ran his teeth up the side of your neck and underneath your chin, leaving little love bites in his wake. When he did the same with your nose, it made you laugh - a bellowing laugh that definitely would’ve drawn attention. Thankfully, if someone saw you, the position wouldn’t be as compromising anymore. “Is it bad that I almost wanted someone to catch us?” he asked.
“Yes!” you exclaimed as you slapped his arm. You were both finally decent enough to make your way back to your car. “You could get in trouble at work!”
Spencer shrugged. “I feel like Rossi has probably been caught doing worse. There is a whole other side to him that he alludes to and frankly, I don’t want to hear about,” he laughed.
“Well, thankfully no one did catch us, so we don’t have to test that possibility.” As you got in the car, Spencer’s phone buzzed in his pocket.
“Oh no...”
“What is it?”
Your husband sucked in his lip and smirked to himself, handing you the phone. On the screen was Emily’s name. She decided to grab dinner with Garcia.
At the Thai place.
She’d heard you.
Both of them had.
“Who knew Spencer was such a bad boy?” ;)
You threw the phone back toward Spencer and glanced between him and the restaurant. “You’re gonna hear about that from the team, aren’t you?”
"Without a doubt.” After putting the car in drive, he pulled away from the curb and smiled. “...And I don’t think I care.”

Steak-umm Takes Twitter Brand Awareness to a New Level With Tweets About Coronavirus Misinformation

Plus, hotel chains are eligible for small-business loans, and more news to start your day
Damn, Steak-umm, go off
Brand Twitter is often insufferable, whether it’s because a Vita Coco employee peed in a jar for social media clout, or the very existence of Baby Nut. Steak-umm, the sliced frozen steak company, has been a mainstay of brand Twitter for awhile now, with Nathan Allebach, Steak-umm’s social media manager, even writing an entire history of the existential humor common on brand Twitter and “brands making metacommentary as anti-marketing” for Vulture. Well, last night, Steak-umm reached a whole new level of brand awareness as the account started tweeting about media literacy and data.

— Steak-umm (@steak_umm) April 7, 2020
In a thread, the company warned against sensationalist reporting around the COVID-19 pandemic, and how politicians and brands can manipulate data for their own ends. “[I]t can be difficult to know what to believe in a time when institutional trust is diminished and the gatekeepers of information have been dismantled,” the brand wrote, “but it’s more crucial now than ever before to follow a range of credentialed sources for both breaking news and data collection.” And of course, it provided metacommentary on how weird it was for Steak-umm to be the bearer of such truths.

Praising brands for being “responsible,” already a word with conflicting definitions, is like praising politicians for voting. It’s an incredibly low bar to clear, and it comes with the stinging knowledge that any time they do something “good” it functions to be at least a bit self serving. You maybe think higher of Steak-umm today than you did yesterday. Or maybe you’re thinking of the, period. For the brands, that’s a win. Though who knows? In a couple days, Steak-umm might be out here on Twitter, itself explaining this weird relationship between advertiser and buyer. Steak-umm bless.

9 April Fools' Day pranks that'll save you money — simply for being a good sport
Tumblr media
April Fools' Day is a...touchy subject on the internet.
Some of us live for the weird things that companies come up with (Duolingo Push seems to be a crowd favorite) and some of us would rather avoid the internet completely. Microsoft is so over the lies that it urged employees to stay away from stunts today.
Regardless of your stance, there's one thing we can all agree with: Saving money rules. This year, numerous companies are rewarding customers with money off or discount codes as a "thank you" for letting them have their fun. And we've found all the best ones for you.
Tumblr media
Image: duolingo
So no, the Duolingo owl is not going to bust your through bedroom window to remind you to learn Spanish — but being a good sport about Smile Direct Club's flavored aligners could save you $100.
Also of importance: Today only, Poopurri is actually selling a Street Taco-scented spray in honor of last year's prank scent.
1. T-Mobile
Tumblr media
Image: t-mobile
Prank: Pretending to text to avoid eye contact in public is so last year. T-Mobile's new BoothE is the ultimate accessory for people who want to just want to watch Tik Toks in peace. Just pop open the chamber when you need silence — or an umbrella, because it's weatherproof.
One of the questions on their FAQ page is whether or not this is an April Fools' joke, to which T-Mobile responded: "We don’t joke about evolutionary technology, but if we were going to make fake tech, we’d probably put an E on it…and announce it on April 1."
Deal: Buy any Samsung Galaxy S10 and get a Galaxy S10e FREE, or get $750 back on any Galaxy S10 or S10+ purchase. This has nothing to do with April Fools' Day, but we thought you'd need a pick-me-up after discovering that the super cool BoothE isn't real.
2. Google
Tumblr media
Image: google
Prank: The secret language of tulips is one that we all dream of understanding someday, and Google has finally made it possible. Google says that Google Tulip uses AI to decode Tulipish (obviously) as well as dozens of human languages. Can the Duolingo owl teach you Tulipish? Didn't think so.
Deal: Google Assistant can't actually talk to flowers, but it can answer most questions that you have better than Alexa. Grab a Google Home Mini for $10 off at Walmart.
3. Spotify
Tumblr media
Image: spotify
Prank: Did you peep those extra letters? This morning, Spotify users were elusively given a special playlist in place of their usual Discover Weekly: Discocover Weekly, which was literally a playlist of disco covers. We're not even mad about it — this is the energy we needed for a Monday.
Deal: For a limited time, all Spotify Premium users get a free Hulu subscription (worth $5.99/month). It's not related to April Fools' Day, but it's such a good deal that it seems like a joke. If you haven't upgraded to Premium yet, you can sign up for the bundle here.
4. HelloFresh
Tumblr media
Image: hellofresh
Prank: After extensive research, HelloFresh has determined that rainbow food is all the rage right now. Forget that whole grain, plant-based BS — the new Unicorn Box contains the farm-fresh candy, pizza with icing, and jars of sprinkles that you've been craving.
Deal: Today only, you can save 40% and take $20 off your first three boxes. Alternatively, if you can feel cavities forming just by looking at this picture, you can save $80 on this Oral-B toothbrush.
5. Smile Direct Club
Tumblr media
Image: smile direct club
Prank: Speaking of teeth, we miss the days of customizing braces with colored rubber bands. Smile Direct Club wants to bring that same fun to invisible aligners by launching Canine Aligners for smiley pups, Flavored Aligners in eight flavors (including peanut butter and crab cakes), and Bluetooth Aligners that can take calls and play music through bone-conducting technology.
Deal: After clicking through to "order" one of these, you can use code APRILFOOLS100 to save $100 on real aligner deliveries.
6. Shutterstock
Tumblr media
Image: shutterstock
Prank: For all of our grandparents who complain about technology replacing real life experiences, Shutterstock has announced the opening of a massive brick-and-mortar library. Browse royalty-free photos and clips via dusty books and film reels, all while study-friendly music plays in the background.
Deal: Use code SS10 to take 10% off Shutterstock's actual photo library of 200 million images and 14 million HD videos.
7. Farm Rich Mozzarella Sticks
Tumblr media
Image: farm rich
Prank: Balloon and confetti gender reveals are so boring — we get it, you live near a Party City. Make your gender reveal go viral on Facebook with these new mozzarella sticks from Farm Rich, complete with blue or pink cheese inside. They can also double as catering for your party.
Deal: Though someone from your high school may steal this idea, it's not real. However, Farm Rich is offering a downloadable coupon to take a whole dollar off actual frozen mozzarella sticks, mozzarella bites, or jalapeño poppers. This is the brand that you buy when the TGI Fridays kind is too expensive, and now it's even cheaper.
8. Build-A-Bear Workshop
Tumblr media
Image: build-a-bear workshop
Prank: Are Tinder and Bumble just plain depressing at this point? If you're ready to skip the games and settle down, Build-A-Bae may be the app you need. From the wholesome creators at Build-A-Bear Workshop, this new "algrrrrithm" analyzes your True Heart to match you with your True Love.
Deal: Just like Tinder's height verification, this is another dating app hoax. However, you can take 25% off stuffed animals, clothes, and accessories with code APRILFOOLS.
9. Twelve South
Tumblr media
Image: twelve south
Prank: Sushi is the go-to delivery food for those long nights of studying or working — but sometimes, your desk just isn't big enough to hold a laptop and beef teriyaki. Twelve South, an online retailer known for its clever MacBook cases and stands, is happy to announce BookBook Bento: The oversized MacBook case with a built-in bento.
Deal: Use code TRICKSTER to take 20% off sitewide.

Best Practices: Piña Coladas Should Be Fun
Tumblr media
Piña Coladas taste like a vacation, even if you drink yours at the kitchen table after shoveling snow, or live in a tropical climate all year long. There’s something undeniably festive about a frosty glass of velvety-smooth rum, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut.
Unfortunately, like many tiki and tiki-adjacent drinks, Piña Coladas are easy to bungle. Saccharine supermarket mixes and other teeth-shatteringly sweet iterations abound.
We asked bartenders how they tackle this cocktail. Here are five pro tips for making excellent Piña Coladas at home.
What to do
1. Juice fresh pineapple.
Going the extra mile to make fresh pineapple juice seems fussy, but it makes a big difference. “Packaged stuff pales by comparison no matter how good it is,” Jim Kearns, beverage director, Recreation at Moxy NYC Downtown, says.
Store-bought juice can be cloying. The natural sweetness of fresh pineapple juice, however, balances the rest of your flavors.
“Canned pineapple juice falls flat on the tongue and makes you want to add more sugar or more rum, when it really isn’t needed,” Robert Cate, food and beverage manager, Coppin’s Restaurant & Bar, Covington, Ky., says.
Happily, the best part of juicing fruit at home is you can’t overdo it. Chop up a pineapple (or buy pre-cut fruit, just be sure it’s fresh), throw it in a blender or food processor, and blend until uniformly liquid. Any extra juice can be frozen, or you can have it for breakfast tomorrow.
If you happen to be prepping this cocktail in advance, freeze your pineapple chunks before blending. It will give your finished cocktail a lovely, frothy consistency.
2. Your coconut matters.
Whenever you make a cocktail with just three components, every ingredient matters. This is true of boozy Manhattans and bitter Negronis; and it’s especially important when you’re making something predominantly sweet like Piña Coladas. Check the ingredient list on canned coconut cream, or cream of coconut. Some prepackaged varieties are loaded with added sugar and stabilizers.
“Coco Lopez is easy to find and never fails,” Cody Henson, bar manager, Trade Room, Savannah, Ga., says.
3. Crushed ice > cubed ice.
Crushed or pebble ice is best here because its small, uniform size ensures even dilution. Of course, most of us don’t have a fancy ice machine at home. The pro secret? Head to your local Sonic Drive-In to pick up a bag of pebble ice for a few dollars. No, seriously. Erick Castro, of Polite Provisions and Raised by Wolves in San Diego (among others), told VinePair the fast-food chain uses bartender-approved Scotsman ice machines for its fountain sodas.
If you’re preparing a Piña Colada on the rocks, shake your ingredients in an ice-filled cocktail shaker, and then pour your mixed drink into a glass filled with crushed or pebble ice.
For frozen Piña Coladas, put your rum, pineapple juice, and coconut cream in the blender, and then add your ice. Start with approximately one cup of ice per cocktail, knowing you can add more. This isn’t an exact science; you mostly want the texture to be evenly slushy.
“Too much ice is a bad move but so is too little,” Henson says. “In the Caribbean bartenders will measure the ice, start the blender, then add rum until they get the consistency they want… Perfect every time.”
4. Enjoy it.
This is an inherently fun drink, reminiscent of beach and pool parties, or indulgent afternoons at TGI Fridays (no judgement). Decorative umbrellas are optional but encouraged.
What to avoid
1. Don’t automatically add lime.
Some bartenders swear by a squeeze of citrus to offset Piña Coladas’ inherent sweetness, but it’s technically not part of the rubric. “I understand why people want to put lime in a Piña Colada to make the drink more balanced, but a Piña Colada is creamy, and creamy drinks should not have lime,” Yael Vengroff, bar director, The Spare Room, Los Angeles, says.
Fortunately, if you’re juicing fresh pineapple and using quality coconut cream, your drink won’t need acid to balance its flavors. It will be sweet, but not too sweet. All that’s left to do is sit back, take a sip, and set sail.

Food Friday - Dec 10th, 2020 (TGIF) Appetizer Burger Total Time: 40mins
Tumblr media
Now I know yall don’t like frozen food, I know this, but I gonna get you stuffed today, ‘cause it’s Friday.
You ain’t got no vaccine... and you ain’t got shit to do.
So get your ass in the kitchen and warm up your oven...
THANK GOODNESS IT’S FRIDAY APPETIZER BURGER
Tumblr media Tumblr media
INGREDIENTS:
* To set the mood - Please - Frozen... Never Fresh *
- Frozen Seasoned Burger Patties
- Frozen Mozzarella Sticks
- Frozen Jalapeno Poppers (Bonus if it comes with it’s own dipping sauce)
- Frozen Onion Rings
- Frozen BBQ (or Buffalo) Boneless Wings
- Frozen Spinach Artichoke Dip
- Burger Buns
Tumblr media
DIRECTIONS:
- This concoction seems like an easy layup - BUT - to have everything turn out right, warm, and crispy you need legit time management and multitasking skills.
- Break things down - read through baking/nuking instructions carefully - what needs to go in first, what can be microwaved vs baked in the oven, when should you put the burgers on the skillet, how can you keep first prepped foods still warm and juicy while other accouterments are cooking.
- My recommendation is to buy as much as the same brand as possible - for this MammaJamma I went with mostly TGI Fridays frozen dishes - I choose this brand because the Boneless Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, and Jalapeño Poppers all baked in the oven at the same temp (450 - all around 15mins) so I was able to bake all three apps on the same baking sheet (or at least based on the baking instructions).
- The Onion rings were a different story - they baked at a lower temp for longer (400 degrees at 20mins). I actually popped these into the oven first as the rest of the oven apps baked at the same time and I feel if I baked them first and they sat around for 20 mins they wilt - I felt better about the Onion Rings sitting covers in foil for only 15mins.
- My Frozen Burger cooked for about 12-14 mins on med-high heat - so I was starting my Patties during the last legging of my apps baking.
- Meanwhile, the Spinach Artichoke Dip was Microwavable and was able to set it and forget for the last 7mins of prep.
- Apps Baked? Burgers Sizzled? Dip Nuked? Then Assembly
- My recommendation:
Bottom Bun
Mozzarella Sticks
Burger Patty
Dab of Spinach Artichoke Dip (to help cement you Poppers)
Jalapeno Poppers (with Raspberry Sauce if available)
Burger Patty
Onion Ring(s) with Spinach Artichoke Dip that fills the Rings
Shredded BBQ Boneless Wings
Top Bun
*viola*
SQUISH AND DISH
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- This was delicious - I savored every bite - also thanks to my sandwich squishing abilities I was able to get a little bit of everything in every bite, but I understand some people may not be blessed with my food devouring gifts - my suggestion? Try only one burger patty and you should be just fine - or maybe fillet/butterfly your apps so they lay flatter.
