When Byleth was 6 years old, and Jeralt left her in the care of an inkeeper while he was doing merc jobs, a traveling caravan of rich people arrived to the inn, and she heard an ugly rich bowlcut blonde baby say his dad was the strongest and could beat anybody's dad and she choose violence.

Someone had to put the bowlcut in his place and make him understand Jeralt was the strongest.

Dimitri didn't want to fight back for his crest until Byleth called him a wussy... which is a word the mercs used around her and she didn't know what it meant.

Byleth was extremely bored. Jeralt— no, he said to call him dad— Dad ­­went to do some cool mercenary stuff he said were 'too dangerous' for Byleth to attend. How silly! She was perfectly capable of taking care of enemies. She had the best teacher in the world, after all; the Blade Breaker’s abilities were well known along all Fodlan.

Of course, she was still only six, while her father was… How many years old was Jeralt again? She realised she didn’t know exactly. Probably the same age all dads were. Like three-hundred years old or something like that.

Byleth frowned. Did she need to wait three-hundred years to become as powerful as Jeralt? No, it was too far away from now! The little girl stood up. She needed to go training now.

She went out the little inn where Jeralt— Dad left her some days ago, heading for that nice spot she found out the day before to train with her new super powerful sword. (Well, wood sword. After the last time Byleth tried to train by herself, she almost chopped her own leg, so Jeralt took precautions by giving her a weapon that 'woudn’t hurt his precious little girl'. How melodramatic! But he chose it precisely for her. It was special. She wasn’t gonna break it!)

Her wandering gaze stopped when she noticed some people a few meters from her. She frowned. A tall guy with dark hair and a younger blonde boy with an ugly bowlcut were talking under a tree, the very tree of her perfect nice training spot.

She frowned again. As people said, Byleth wasn’t… the best at social interactions. She didn’t like talking to people, especially strangers. And she hated when she had to. Like this moment. She needed those two to get out of her new special training spot. She needed to train! To become more powerful! Like, right now!

The urge to train was bigger than her despise for talking to strangers, so she got closer to the tree, holding hard her sword. Byleth repeated in her mind Jeralt— Dad’s lessons about how ‘not to be too scary with other people’. She had to act nice.

“Hi. Get out of my training spot”.

A greeting! Super nice. ‘Good job, me’, she thought, pleased with herself.

The taller boy looked at her with surprise, but his expression quickly changed in a smile. “Hello, you fellow warrior”, he said in a condescending tone, winking.

Ugh. That was one of the thing Byleth hated the most: grown-ups treating her like she was just a little child!

“Get out, I said! I need to train”, she said, pointing at her sword.

Bowlcut boy frowned. “But you’re too young to train by your own!”

“What?!” Byleth exclaimed to him, annoyed.

“Yes! My dad says children shouldn’t fight until they grow up. And you look almost my age! So, you can’t train”, Bowlcut boy explained, nodding.

Byleth crossed her arms. “It doesn’t make sense! My dad helps me train since I was… younger than you!”

Bowlcut boy looked troubled. “Why does you dad train you?”

“Because I want to become strong, and he’s the strongest mercenary of all Fodlan!”, Byleth said with a hint of pride.

Now Bowlcut boy looked annoyed. “That’s not true! My dad is the strongest one! Glenn, tell her!” he added, looking at the taller annoying guy.

Tall-annoying guy was watching at them holding a hand over his mouth as if he wanted to hide it, slightly shaking. Then he proceeded to burst into laughter, hitting the ground with his fist, without saying a thing.

Byleth frowned. What a weird guy.

Bowlcut boy frowned too, but apparently he decided to let the matter drop, as he looked at Byleth again. “My dad is stronger! He has big muscles, and he’s the only one that can use a super uper big powerful spear!” Then he looked down at Tall-annoying guy, who was still on the floor. “Glenn! Tell her!”

The guy tried to stop laughing, but miserably failed. “So… sorry, Dimitri… you’ll have to… deal with her yourself… PUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”

Byleth crossed her arms; then, she got an idea. “Let’s settle this with a fight. However wins, has the strongest dad!”

Bowlcut boy’s eyes widened. “N… no! I can’t! I’ll hurt you!”

Byleth was really annoyed now: how dared that little brat imply he could beat her?!

She lifted her sword, pointing at Bowlcut boy. “Prepare yourself!”

“Oh, fuck!” Tall-annoying guy stopped laughing and stood up between them. “Ok, party’s over. Let’s try to get along, shall we?”

Bowlcut boy sighed in relief. Byleth sticked her tongue out, looking at him. “Your dad’s just a… wussy!”

Byleth really liked the word ‘wussy’. The way it sounded was funny. She didn’t exactly know the meaning, but Jeralt’s mercenaries often used it when someone was arguing (usually when drinking that weird ‘grown-ups fruit juice’) with some other of the band, getting the latter very angry. And Byleth wanted to make Bowlcut boy angry.

And she succeded! Bowlcut boy’s eyes widened, and he proceeded to run towards her. Byleth was ready, and promptly dodged the boy. She grabbed his arm, and sinked her teeth in it.

The boy screamed in pain until Tall-annoying boy managed to pull him away. “Shit shit shit! What the hell is wrong with you two?!” he said in a high-pitched tone. Bowlcut boy started crying.

‘Pathetic’, Byleth thought.

“Okay, little girl, we’re leaving, but promise me you’ll stay away from Dimitri!” Tall-annoying guy said, while taking Bowlcut boy in his arms. “We’re leaving soon anyway, so forget about this and do not tell anyone!” he added, going inside the inn, without waiting for Byleth to respond. “Shit! I did tell Gustave I’m not a good babysitter…” she heard him muttering, while Bowlcut boy was still crying.

She looked at the now closed door for a few seconds more, then turned around. “Okay. Melee training for day: done. I should practice with my sword now…”

“You did what?!” Jeralt—Dad screamed in shock.

Byleth crossed her arms. “I bit him, I told you! He was saying some crap about you!”

Dad looked at her in disbelief, and then bursted into laughter.

‘Why is everyone laughing at me today?!’

“You… you bit him… you bit the… freaking… AHAHAHAHAHA!” Dad was laughing so hard he didn’t finish the phrase.

Byleth shrugged, deciding to let him be. ‘It’s not like I’m gonna ever see Bowlcut boy again…’

15 years later

Byleth didn’t know if she was getting better at reading people, or if Jeralt was acting strange more than usual. Since she told him she chose to lead the Blue Lion House, her father started to make a soft giggle everytime she mentioned the house-leader, Dimitri. It was getting annoying.

“Are you going to tell me why do you make that sound everytime I mention Dimitri, dad?!” she finally said one afternoon, while her and Jeralt were having tea in her room.

Jeralt smiled. “Ah! Never. But maybe, you’ll have your answer if you’ll ever see his arm… Summer is starting, after all…”

but in terms of what song would play after that would be dance of death. like the beginning being that build-up when she starts questioning his clearance level then actually motions for him to get out, and then when the song picks up it would be when he and will are walking back to annette. chef's kiss. it's all about the tension besties. and that song name... she was really playing with fire talking to someone like him the way she did, and that of course starts their little game

then the second half of dance of death would play again (over the top of and then replacing the actual music used) during one of umbrella's galas a few months later, possibly for the holidays or something, and of course obligatory dance scene between two people who kind of not really hate each other but are rivals in a sense... you see what i mean. am i getting this vision across? them making little snarky remarks at each other during it. do you see? the way i am losing my mind over this

masato/aoki has been a hyperfixation of mine for almost 3 years now unfortunately he's a little worm in my brain slowly killing me off. this is half a response to some asks i've seen, a sort of explanation to aoki looking different to masato (which is definitely nonsensical in ways) may be because he's somewhat healthier than when he was as masato, hence he's not deathly pale, tired looking and a bit of weight gain maybe? (personally love his hamster cheeks as aoki). as a disabled person myself i don't think rgg really thought much through in his disability and the shit it can bring?? hoping yakuza 8 brings more context for him though i doubt it. again unfortunately,,, he's important to me regardless and ngl the hate he gets makes me upset sometimes. like he is definitely awful awful, especially aoki. my autism could write a whole deep dive essay about his character that no one wants to hear lmfao. also your masato art is a joy, just to let you know <3 as a fellow daigo enjoyer,, masadai ex boyfriends is the most valid and superior ship for masato lmao. ty for your service in this fandom 💪

i really REALLY wish RGG wasn't so flippant about his disability, i go insane trying to figure out exactly what it is or what it could be so i can approach it better when portraying him and also just thinking about him. 'weak lung syndrome', surprise surprise, can mean a lot of things

it's already p cringe that they just poof it away with a lung transplant and get rid of it all together in ishin when there was no real reason to have him stand at all. like. he's literally in two scenes, one where he is sitting but the other he's just talking to the air while takechi sits in the room.

never mind im curious if he ever had to deal with his body potentially rejecting the new organ for a bit since that is a very real concern when it comes to organ transplants, but i get not really finding the need to dive into it since that transplant would have been 20 years ago and the chance to talk about it is slim. still, they could have at least give his initial illness a proper name or diagnosis if they were just going to make it disappear literally one chapter later

He gets them guns and drugs -- much lower prices too, thank god for his Prague connections and cheap labor -- and they get him money and power. Mafia!Konig who isn't your typical suit-wearing nice and clean-cut mob boss. He still wears his uniform - not because he wants to taint the suit, but because of his connections as the guy on the inside in the special forces - he was booted out of the army because of his age and traumas, even though he refused until his last day at the forces. He won't ever let anyone tear that form away from him - you just know he fucks you in his office in full gear, bouncing you on his cock as you're forced to beg your colonel to let you cum. Wearing his dog tags as the sign of ownership - as you're nothing but his obedient pet. Mafia!Konig has a solid reputation. A center that helps veterans overcome their traumas and find new purpose in life after exiting special forces - and you're his pretty assistant, just an innocent thing that runs around and does all of his paperwork because Colonel hates doing it! And you want to keep your job, you want to be useful, you're a good girl that doesn't question the suspicious numbers and shady people that attend some of his other totally legal businesses. You know better than to accuse people who served your country of being a dishonest bunch of thugs. Mafia!Konig who knows this is bad for you - innocent thing, you shouldn't ever be wrapped in his schemes, he only hired you because he wanted someone nice, someone kind to hang on to. He is doing terrible things every day, not shading from murders, assassinations and contraband smuggling - but he can come to you and place his head on your chest, just laying here for a few minutes as you stroke his head and relieve all of his anxieties.

Mafia!Konig who eventually convinces you to be his girlfriend. His trophy wife even, eventually - he wants to take care of you, to free you from having a job and worry about money...he has all means to make your life in Vienna as sweet as possible, cute thing, and he even hired move assistants for his more illegal doings just so your only job would be bringing him coffee and sucking him off under a table after the closes a very important weapons deal, forcing his thick cock in your willing throat as he promises to take you to the mountains on Christmas.

You’re practically sedated between them. Johnny keeps himself pressed to your back, the warmth of his chest bleeding into your skin while you chuff in your sleep, little purrs and hums vibrating in your chest.

His knees stay tucked up behind yours, his arm under the pillow where your head lays, neck and glad exposed for his mouth, tongue flicking over your skin every few minutes to remind you, deep in your heat hazed sleep, that they’re there.

Simon’s laying on the other side, his chest pressed to yours, one arm draped over your waist and Johnny’s, occasionally stroking up and down your side. Whenever you tremble or fidget, he shushes you, soothing you with a rumble in his diaphragm until you’re slipping back under.

“How did we not know?” He whispers. Johnny lifts his head, peering over you to peek at his Alpha, his distraught face, worried eyes and brow furrowed low making his own anxiety pick up. He presses his nose to your neck and inhales deeply, licking over your gland before reaching to grip Simon’s hand tight.

“I… ‘m not sure. Why would she hide this?” He tries not to think about how long you’ve been dealing your heats on your own, trying to satisfy yourself, alleviate your own pain with toys that wouldn’t even come close.

And yet-

“She’s been exhausted, these past few months.” Simon reaches out to stroke his wrist along your gland, scooting even closer, lowering his lips to your forehead in a gentle kiss. “More tired than usual. More scattered. I’ve thought, maybe… she was going through a phase, trying to prepare for possibly… growing our family but this… I mean. The cleaning, the collecting of our clothes all the time-”

“The sheets.” Simon nods. The sheets have been fresh when they’ve come home, every other op. They thought it was because you were trying to clean for them, an unnecessary action considering they’d rather swim in a sea of blankets that smell like you and them together, but the flat had always been spotless too. Fridge scrubbed, bathroom shiny. They’d just assumed…

“I’m going to call her doctor.” Simon tells him lowly, and unease spikes in Johnny’s heart. It feels like an invasion of your privacy, a violation almost.

“It’s-“

“It’s our responsibility, as her mates. We’re supposed to be taking care of her. I can’t do that unless I have all the information.” You fidget, and they both still, voices silent while you purr and shift. “What if she’s sick?” Simon’s voice breaks, and Johnny closes his eyes, breathing through his nose against the widening pit in his stomach. You’re not sick, you’re not, you’re fine. You’re here, right here with them. In his arms- “Or what if something is wrong? And instead of telling us, she’s tried to deal with it on her own.” He can’t disagree with the last bit. If there was something wrong, you might feel like a burden, like you should be handling it yourself.

Why have you been suffering on your own? Why haven’t you come to them? Your mates? Why are you trying to self soothe? Have they done something wrong? Have they not been proper Alphas for you? What happened, before you came to them?

“She’s never indicated anything in her past that would be explain the self soothing.” Johnny murmurs, Simon nods gravely.

“We’re going to have a long conversation, after the heat.” Johnny’s arms tighten around, and he tries to not get lost in his own feelings. He wants to feel happy, feel excited about you not being on suppressants, like they’ve always dreamed of. Wants to relish in the opportunity to care for you in the most intimate ways, during your most vulnerable times.

But they can’t. He can’t. How could they be happy about this? You’re suffering. You’ve been suffering, lying, hiding yourself from them. All he feels is worry, sadness, guilt. They’ve been off having their ruts together while you’ve been alone, taking care of yourself and then hiding the evidence.

Simon sighs, and Johnny sees the same feelings in his eyes. The pain. The guilt.

“We let her down.” He whispers, and Simon nods.

“We should have been here, should have been paying better attention.” He shivers. “I know her moods, her tells better than anyone. I can’t believe I missed this.” Johnny squeezes his fingers, rubbing a thumb over the back of his knuckles in attempt to comfort him.

You whimper, hips shifting. You smell, a mixture of your sweat and the residual fear from your midnight escapade, dried slick and fresh. The heady, ripe heat flavor lingers beneath it all, but you need to be cleaned before anything happens.

Your hips press against his, rubbing, seeking. A small smile breaks through on his lips.

“Sweet Omega.” Johnny kisses you softly.

“Sweet, stubborn little Omega.” Simon agrees, and then strokes a hand down your back. “Let’s get you in a bath, darling.”
