#THEY'RE DISASTERS UR HONOUR

i know this has been discussed ad nauseam, but i'm doing research for a meta, and i'm slowly realizing that i will never ever be over the Good Omens Lockdown dialogue. especially that line towards the end (begins at the 02:50 minute mark):

Crowley: [...] You know, I could hunker down at your place; slither over and watch you eat cake. I could bring a bottle—a case—of something...drinkable?

first, the unabashed expression of a desire to be near Aziraphale is so rarely evident (i mean, we have 1967 and other instances, but in the case of '67, an outsider could more easily—i guess??—interpret offering him a lift home as an expression of gratitude for the holy water). so, to witness his clear, unveiled desire for comfort and closeness (and to literally just watch Aziraphale eat cake) demonstrates the interpersonal progress made in the time after Armageddon't; he's not concealing the offer behind some flimsily-constructed reason (e.g., "I just didn't want to see you embarrass yourself"). in fact, he's implying that they'd be spending long lengths of time together ("hunker down", "a case of something drinkable"). and then Aziraphale's response is also really interesting, and kind of exists as a microcosm of their whole push-and-pull dynamic that has existed for literally thousands of years (begins at the 02:59 minute mark):

Aziraphale: No, I—I—I—I’m afraid that would be breaking all the rules! Out of the question! I’ll see you… when… this is over?

YEAH in this au marcias like that is my baby brother no I've never actually been able to physically touch him yes he is from medieval times. I don't see what this has to do with anything. She'd be so offended that any version of herself could ever be mean to him. They r besties who tell each other everything (or. Marcia tells Most things but she does see marcellus very much as a child bc he. Is. She's like 20 when he's maybe 10 so she doesn't tell him Everything but they're super close) and when he ends up in the future she introduces him to everyone as her little cousin from overseas who's parents r dead so he's staying with her. She does tell alther who he actually is tho bc alther figured out where she was disappearing to not long after the start of her apprenticeship and asked her abt it and she didn't want to lie to him,,, she didn't tell him Who she was talking to just that it was a friend and she wasn't at any risk of going through the glass.

And. Yeah <33 they r autistic. Together 😌😌 marcellus knows some basic magyk in this au and marcia knows some physik and a lot of the theory of alchemy. Also I should clarify marcellus stays in the future in this au. He never goes home ever he just lives in the future now,, things in the past play out mostly the same as in canon but marcellus's role is played by a different alchemist who isn't such close friends with julius so there's some suspicion that the alchemy disaster wasn't entirely the alchemists fault and that's why alchemy isn't Quite so hated in the future.

Marcellus being more argumentative!! I think in canon he would have stayed quiet just bc. He wouldn't have seen a way out. Like etheldredda is essentially unkillable and if he ever dares to act out what happened to his sisters could happen to him. But with marcias influence he kind of starts pushing boundaries and asking questions and sneaking around and stealing things because marcias optimism rubs off on him and he's sure that he'll be able to save his sister this time, definitely. If things get really bad he can run away with the money from stolen items. I have a lot of thoughts abt marcellus and etheldredda and maybe one day I'll even elaborate on them abdjdbdjbd

AND. YEAH marcia does get affected by marcellus also <3 ur right she is a lot more tolerant of ppl in general tbh like especially after marcellus is in the future. If she can handle a grieving 13 yr old she can handle anything. She's also a lot more polite?? Like marcellus was taught Court Rules since he was tiny and started teaching them to marcia just for fun and obviously most of them r incredibly outdated but the same principles apply so while she is still bitchy and rude she is bitchy and rude in such a way that no one can ever call her out on it. Most of the time. Sometimes she snaps <3 Maybe she comes across a little old fashioned sometimes but that only adds to the effect,, she has learned Social Skill and by god is she going to use it.

There's also the fact that she considers marcellus her brother + has decided to honour his older bio sister by doing her absolute best to take care of him. When he's in the past this is 100% just talking with him and trying to give advice and steer him away from trouble (she fails miserably on that) and when he's in the future she's a lot more involved,, unfortunately (for her) this means she has a Big Sister Mode that activates every time she sees someone younger than her having a bad time and she HATES it bc all the castle kids literally love her and r bugging her all the time. Anyway I do have more to say but maybe I'll make an actual post with a readmore instead of putting it in ur inbox abdjdnsjfn

I love this au, it's so cute to see marcellus being looked after for once lmao

I wanna see the grown up pair of them start working together on alchemy and magyk too, kinda like julius but without the whole blame and betrayal bit. Alchemy being suspicious but not outright banned is fun too, would it end up being treated kinda like witches are (though with the bonus of hopefully less kidnapping involved)? Or more accepted than that

Marcellus having marcias influence and a way out is v interesting, in the canon it does seem like his only way out is to outlast etheldredda so he puts so much effort into a tincture that actually works. But if he's out would he put so much time and effort into it? Or just let it be and get on with a normal length life this time?

I love Social Skill marcia, she's such a person to learn the rules to break the rules (or bend the rules to breaking point without actually breaking them, leaving room for plausible deniability). I can also see them researching Why different rules and etiquette exist just so they understand why people do what they do, even if it's old stuff that's not really relevant anymore

Does marcellus get a chance to grieve his sisters in the past? Not even as in a funeral or something, but did he just have to pretend it's all fine until he got out?

You’d think I’d have less thoughts from this episode since it was not very plot heavy but i am not done bGKAMWOEF 

[Monkie kid season 3 episode 3 spoilers] 

Really thinking about Mk and Wukong’s dynamic in season 3 so far, as of episode 3 (rambling all this now cause i can’t watch 4 and 5 until later so getting this all out rn BGAKWEFMOW) 

The rest of the crew tolerate Wukong, at best. He’s not important to them in any way shape or form, aside from Tang who’s the fanboy but not totally personal invested in Wukong outside of his fantasy’s of being his BFF. 

But! 

He is important to Mk. And they know that. They see that. And they respect that, so they tolerate Wukong, even if they don’t really like him. 

Mei especially has no patience for his cryptic nonsense or the way it effects her best friend. 

Which, honestly, fair, he’s not communicating and letting Mk come to some conclusions that aren't true and leaning into the mysterious mentor trope he thinks he needs to be, which isn’t helpful to anyone. 

When it comes to the crew, Mk is almost... blocking Wukong from them during confrontation, often times quite literally placing himself between them 

Basically acting as a middle ground man and attempting to communicate or make excuses for Monkey King, which honestly, isn’t really healthy. It prevents Monkey King from having to face some consequences and doesn’t help him learn to communicate, and Mk falls into the roll of apologizing for other people a little two easily.  

And again, the crew tolerates this because they know how important Monkey King is to Mk. He really cares about him. Even though Monkey King basically dips again, without actually leaving, Mk cares and wants to make sure he’s part of the group and even comfortable 

Part of it comes from Mk’s need to please the people around him

and his desire for validation and to have his mentor/father figure tell him he did a good job 

Mk is very loyal and he’d do anything for the people he cares about. Even blame himself for their behaviour and try to change himself because he’ll rationalize until he’s convinced himself he’s the problem. 

But, that doesn’t mean he’s stupid. 

He sees 

However, he’s quick to forgive and quicker to excuse, and Monkey King tends to breeze over things because confrontation is BAD™ for him and he avoids it however he can, usually by dismissing it and bulldozing ahead with positive talk  and acting like things don’t get to him. Which just feeds into Mk’s rationalization more bgsalkemfwe 

MAN THEIR DIFFERENT TRAUMAS AND HABITS CLASH SO BADLY GOOD GRIEF 

ANYWAY, just thinking about Mk as the middle man in this situation and how long that’s gonna be able to last with how serious things are and how Wukong’s inability to communicate is gonna continue to effect the group and dig him into a deeper hole until Mk can’t give him any more excuses or defend him (or if he’d even want to) 

The day when Wukong looks to Mk to convince the others to get behind him and Mk looks away is gonna crush me if it ever comes (Wukong too probs haha*sobs*) 

*shakes the monkey* COMMUNICATE GOSH DANG YOU 

Thing is, he’s definitely trying to communicate but it obviously isn’t working very well. Just with what Mk said alone with the 

“He’s in no state to waste his time on mere mortals, especially since now I don’t have my powers” 

LIKE THAT? THAT SOUNDS BAD 

But the reality of the situation is that Mk doesn’t have his powers. He and Monkey King were the strongest players to keep them from getting wiped out during a boss fight, and now that they’re both out for the count they’re in a lot of danger. Wukong knows this. He knows they’re in danger and that their best bet right now is him. He can do boss fights, he did them back during the Journey all the time. It’s a very serious situation and he’s their best bet, the easily killed mortals are not. 

Say it out loud though and it sounds horrible. “I’m more important than you right now.” When in reality it’s closer to “if I don’t recharge you’re all going to die so I’ve gotta get to the point where i can protect you and that means focusing on myself for a while until i’m up to game” 

BUT OF COURSE HE DOESN'T’ SAY THAT, AND MK DOESN’T REALLY TAKE IT THAT WAY, NONE OF THEM DO 

*shakes the monkey* COMMUNICATE GOSH DANG YOU 

Anyway, I lost my train of thought, the monkey is stupid and communicates a lot like my mom does BG;ALJKWEMFO Mk’s not gonna be able to put himself between the monkey and his friends forever, and as much of a peacemaker as he’s trying to be, real communication is what’s gonna save them and if they can’t get to that point good luck my guy 

This all started from how i just noticed the way Mk stands between his friends and Monkey King when they start getting annoyed with him *WHEEZING* AIGHT HEADING OUT PEACE 

(I’m still not over how gently Mk put Monkey King down after carrying him out of the truck tho actually bG;JLKAEMFOW)

Adora Birthday Headcanons!

IT'S ADORA'S birthday!!

Happy birthday to my beautiful disaster lesbian/dumb jock we stan you so much, YOU'RE QUEEN

(I act as if she's real but only in my dreams lol)

In honour of her birthday, I decided to write this headcanon-y post (since I'm focused on finishing What Drove Her Insane) so hope you guys enjoy!

(it's also obviously Catradora what do you take me for and this is post redemption or whatever my bae doesn't need Angst on her bday)

This is a train wreck but hey:

Bow and Glimmer are talking about Birthdays

When they realise they don't know exactly when Adora's is so they interrogate her and Catra making her look back to her earliest memories trying to see if she ever celebrated it

Adora and Catra didn't even know what a birthday is until they explained it

Adora says, “why do they blow out candles, what kind of ritual witchcraft is that?” Catra agrees saying it sounds like a spell Shadow Weaver would do

They look at each other then Adora and Catra then laugh, then realise they were serious and they both just die a little inside

Somewhere along the line Adora remembered when they were younger and they grew a year older how Shadow Weaver would give her an extra ration bar and say “a growing girl needs more food” but only on January 19th

Shadow Weaver stopped doing if after she turned 13 however

Catra remembers Shadow Weaver just being a little less abusive on some day in October

Glimmer and Bow take note a remind themselves to further interrogate Catra in future

Then they realise it's the 17th and run out of the room to make PREPARATIONS

Adora and Catra are both thoroughly confused but just continue as normal - cuddling and talking because they're cuties

18th January

The next morning they are rudely awaken by Glimmer practically prying a hissing Catra out of a groggy Adora's arms

Adora doesn't know but Catra is going to go pick out Adora a present because RELATIONSHIP GOALS (let's just ignore the fact she barely understood the concept of birthdays up until a day ago)

Adora is left to her own devices for the day and is severely baffled at where everyone is and why the castle is so deserted

Around mid afternoon they all reappear and continue as normal

Adora and Catra fall asleep curled up against each other as usual

19th January (today lol)

Adora wakes up around midday and Catra isn't there …

She gets changed as usual and walks out of her room into the dining area where she figured she would be

SURPRISE!

They all jump out from different hiding places, all the princesses + Bow and Catra with ridiculous hats (well Catra refused) on and party poppers

Adora just screams and gets into a fighting position before Catra laughs telling her “chill out babe, we have cake not weapons”

Adora relaxes and everyone (but Catra duh) lines up to give her presents

She gets lots of cool gifts but one that stood out was definitely the fireworks, from Seahawk of course

Swift wind has chosen the playlist because HEY WHY NOT

The party is great and so is all the food which Adora has definitely scoffed down.

They all dance and talk and have fun and it's already been a couple hours since they started

It's finally time for the cake and Adora IS ABOUT TO BLOW OUT THE CANDLES WHOOO

Bow and Glimmer are practically screaming happy birthday as she blows out the candles.

Adora makes the cutest wish - to be with her best friends and girlfriend for as long as possible

They eat the cake and sit around some more

Soon enough everyone starts leaving and  Glimmer retreats to her room, and Adora is getting ready for bed while Catra is in the shower

“You ready for your present?” Catra asks, only a towel wrapped around her

“W-where is it?” Adora is confused to say the least

Catra points to herself

(I COULDN'T RESIST IM SORRY BUT THE WHOLE FIRST TIME ON UR BIRTHDAY TROPE IS AMAZING)  

Adora gulps as the towel drops having no clue what to expect

After they finish doing the do, the two are laying down, when Adora is like “I hope that's not your only present”

Catra, shocked says “of course not!” And gets up to grab a small box

Eagerly Adora opens it up, and she is greeted by a crystal necklace that has c + a engraved

Like the big baby she is she cries, so Catra hugs her whispering “I love you, happy birthday babe”

That was Adora's first, and best Birthday ever.
