Summary:
"I've yet to meet the being — mortal or God — who I could not make feel the power of true love, whether romantic, platonic, or ideal." It was Clark's very reason to exist, after all. Diana just gave him a fathomless look. "Anyone at all?" "What about your husband?" Lex piped up, with a shark-like grin. "My husband?" Clark asked blankly. It took him more than a few seconds to parse Lex's words. "Wait — do you mean Bruce?" (AKA, a Greek Gods AU based on the marriage — and epic love story — of Hephaestus and Aphrodite)

"God never gives you more than you can handle" is survivorship bias. People who got more than they could handle are dead.

~Weird~ how some public health agencies are all of a sudden going back to "slow the spread" after pushing "you do you/let 'er rip!" for the past four years. Take this as a sign of how bad things are and how bad things are going to be. The pandemic never ended, the people who were supposed to protect you just stopped caring.

Is it bad that I feel slightly bad that I keep coming to the library to use its quietness and its desk space and its pleasant atmosphere for writing but I never check out books?

Signs of a heart attack are different for each gender yet we only really teach the male warning signs. Make sure you’re aware of both and spread it to as many other women as possible!

I guess a more general version of the point is that in the last 50-ish years, everyday language has borrowed more and more of both the terminology and structural features of technical language. This happens for a lot of reasons. But I think it's mostly not a good thing. For one, being abstract and technical is not actually very useful in the messy real world, where concepts are fuzzy and vague and most things of importance are not quantifiable. For another, if natural language borrows too much of the authority of science and the law, it might find that there's not enough left afterwards for science and the law to do what we need them to do.

#1 thing you can do to be a better driver is to be at peace with going the wrong direction for a little while.
like it is not the end of the world if you miss your turn. all the roads are connected to all the other roads. you will find your way very quickly.
unless you're experiencing a genuine emergency, dont even think about making a sudden movement, ESPECIALLY across one or more lanes, just to avoid missing a turn
just relax. be at peace with the way the universe has led you. who knows you might discover something you never would have seen, like a nice restaraunt or a park you didn't know about. just. fucking relax

Unrelated, Best Boy Hank Green made a cute, no subscription, not invasive and full of malwares app.
It's a cute lil app that helps you step away from your phone and leave it alone for a time you set, to stay away from distraction. If you pick up the phone, the knitting lil bean loses all of his knitting... So if you say "I'm setting down my phone for half an hour so I can efficiently clean the table and bag up the trash" it helps resisting the call of the screen. Because you can't make the bean sad. The bean is too cute.

4th place in the downloads jfc. I think people are starved for simple and honest softwares with no evils schemes and data stealing
