hello. i come for ask game. xinyan & anemo or, if you do not care for hard mode of character rarely talked about kaeya & dendro

anemo needs to have their life uprooted, either their core believes shattered or to lose something fundamental that makes them question their sense of self, to be the leaf on the wind, but learn to go with it instead of being thrown around. this is why death of loved one is a very popular anemo motive, as its an easy way to yank the ground from under character's feet. for a righteous, self-confident character like xinyan, that loss also needs to challenge their preconceptions. basically i think it needs to be heizou situation where he cast categorical judgment on his friend and then at his death was forced to re-evaluate his own view of justice. heizou would be pyro or electro if that friend didn't happen btw, depending on other circumstances.

for xinyan it could be idk, she had a conservative uncle who was against her rock and roll shit (and we know her family was not thrilled), she thought he's a jerk and fought him all the time, but then got into trouble with law by idk vandalizing public property with graffiti or smth, and it somehow tied her to even bigger crime that she didn't do, and instead of blaming her or chastising her like she thought he would, he uncle took the blame and went to prison himself to protect her. like he could just die protecting her from smth, but i'm trying to reduce anemo-related deaths asdghj

kaeya would work very well as dendro, he has a lot of corresponding tendencies - drive to collect and process new information, to systematize it and then use it to achieve his goals. his urge to get info from ppl and to put them in hard situations to see how they'll react mirrors alhaitham's ethos of collecting information through biased perspectives to understand these perspectives and challenge them against one another, alhaitham is just much more blunt. the main problem is that kaeya needs to not hate himself and not see this drive for learning things about ppl as inherently evil thing that makes him a manipulator. which is uuuuh, hard to do in his situation lol. idk, if his dad really didn't have an agenda for him and left him in sumeru with candace without any loaded statements about last hope of the khaenriah, so kaeya didn't feel like a spy and time bomb.

dendro kaeya i think would be either in akademiya, inventing psychology and tools to analyze ppl, or be an edgy writer who uses social experiments on ppl to get "true" plots for his books. maybe both actually lol

I plan on writing a full Childe character analysis on his birthday but since I'm writing a Childe x character fic rn, here's what I think of his character (warning: very long and wordy and keep in mind this is prior to me reading other people's analysis of him and going really further in depth. ofc this would have spoilers of Childe's story quest, his backstory and the Liyue archon quest):

Childe is actually a really simple character that I think a lot of people overcomplicate. He is really straightforward and to be honest, even if he was trained to be somewhat cunning in the Fatui, he's actually very simple even when he's being manipulative. Whenever he has problems, his first instinct is usually to fight through it (eg: Childe's story quest when he had to deal with debt collecting, he immediately tried to fight them before Teucer saw him and he had to verbally maneuver through the situation. When he had to do the whole speech in front of the new Fatui recruits, he realised using the metaphor of toys wouldn't work so he immediately challenged the recruits to a fight).

His straightforwardness is the reason why he is deemed to be so strange among the harbingers. The harbingers don't like using force and prefer to work behind the scenes while Childe is bold and confident. He is very direct not just in combat but also in his interactions. Mf also almost revealed his true identity to Xinyan until we interupted him and he also immediately introduced himself as a Fatui harbinger to us in our first meeting. The only time he isn't is when his missions absolute require him to be secretive (which is why he had to give us half-truths about his agenda in the Liyue archon quest) and when he has to protect Teucer who he believes shouldn't be involved in the dark life he lives. He really isn't that manipulative or sly at all.

He revels in being in the "fucked up" side of the world. He is part of the harbingers, he enjoys the thrill of battle and that thrill is his core motivation and drive to live and experience life. He is an ambitious warrior through and through who thrives in the battlefield and willingly gave himself as a weapon to the Tsaritsa because he enjoys it. He wants to "conquer the world" because he enjoys challenges as he sees them as thrilling. It's very similar to Jabami Yumeko from Kakegurui. They both enjoy the thrill (of gambling and fighting respectively) and live for it. They don't care if they get hurt or if it may lead to their death because the thrill is what makes it fun. Even so, I don't think he enjoys being deceived and used given how offended he is by Signora and Zhongli lol.

I think Childe was traumatised by the abyss but in an interesting way, especially since in one of his voicelines he said he wants to return to the abyss and fight the monster that he was once afraid of. It's more like he saw some dark and fucked up shit in the abyss, his master trained him to toughen up and then slowly as he lived there he began to learn how to survive and thrive in that kind of environment. Think about it like you were stranded on a deserted island. Obviously most people would be terrified right? But then you meet someone who live there and taught you how to survive. With no rescue in sight, you became stronger and stronger to survive and by the time you manage to return back home, the experience has altered your personality. For some people the experience may be severely traumatising but for others, it's more like an "it was a learning moment and I'm ready to face the challenge if it happens again". If he ever returns to the abyss, he wouldn't be afraid because he knows he is stronger than before. But do I think he may possibly have some nightmares that he was back as a child, helpless and alone in the abyss, unable to protect himself? Yeah, likely. I feel like although he is proud of who he has become, he knows that a child shouldn't have to see what he saw which is why he is protective over Teucer.

That's one part of him. Childe is also a family man who knows how to clean, cook and he loves his family very much. He is also kind — mf willingly allowed Zhongli to use him as a walking wallet lol — and even though he tried to drown Liyue, he was reluctant about it because he didn't want to involve innocent people into it but was forced to because of the Tsaritsa's orders. As kinda fucked up he is, he is a sweetheart perfect future husband as well.

Little Ajax got his wish to become a protagonist of his own story. And now, he marches into the world with that typical shonen protagonist goal of becoming stronger and stronger to one day be on top of the world.

v2.4 Thoughts on the Lore:  the Magical, the Mundane, and Erosion

A small detail from Eight Locales Over Mountains and Seas event:  crystal cores from all elemental crystalflies are colorless.

I know this isn't news to anyone playing Genshin, but hear me out. This is how crystal cores are described:

And this is part of every crystalfly's description:

So basically crystalflies may not actually be beings of pure elemental energy, but actually kind of like other creatures around Teyvat that utilizes elemental energy, like the slimes (the condensates of which are also colorless), the specters (spectral husks are again pretty uniform looking), or the whopperflowers (all whopperflowers drop yellow nectar).  It’s also worth noting that creatures like the whopperflowers are also implied to be able to evolve and become even more adept at gathering and using elemental energy.

But alright, this is still not exactly interesting, but things become interesting when you consider Visions.......which are, on the surface, considered to be magical "organs" that gather and store energy of a particular element, and are also colorless when not "assigned" to anyone (ex: Kazuha's friend's Vision after his friend died).  However, humans are not born with these “organs” and cannot biologically inherit them.

Things become even more interesting when you look at "creatures" that don't appear to have a body outside of their elemental powers, like the hypostases.  In fact, the hypostases were said to have a body at one point, but abandoned it in order to pursue a more purely elemental form.  The items that these abstract beings drop are always described as concentrated pure elemental energy. Among these though, it was the hydro hypostasis's dew of repudiation that is the most interesting:

So the dew of repudiation is a very "pure" drop of water that cannot become part of the normal water of Teyvat. This description screams of the dew being a "foreign" object in Teyvat, which lends some credibility to Enjou’s claims that Celestia came from beyond Teyvat (space alien overlords...?  lol).  There are other details surrounding the hypostases that connects them to Celestia, the white tree (leylines), and the Abyss, for example the round platform that they all spawn on.  This platform often features a lot of Celtic knot-like designs, and are surrounded by pillars reminiscent of those found in ancient ruins.

But this also brings up some interesting issues, stuff that I’m currently not sure if they are intended to be this way or just a minor example of ludonarrative dissonance.  There are two versions of every element in the world, one is “magical”, while the other is “mundane”, and so far these two versions are markedly different in appearance and behavior.  For example:

Anemo:  wind conjured by an anemo character vs.  natural updrafts present in the environment.

Geo:  Zhongli’s pillar or Albedo’s elevator vs. the mountains present in every nation so far.

Electro:  Sara’s lightning bolts vs. the thunderstorms that occur occasionally (natural lightning in game are blue, compared to the purple of electro).

Dendro:  dendro samachurl’s green 420 fumes vs. the grass that grows all over Teyvat.

Hydro:  the magical key to Enkanomiya (which also happens to be a drop of water that you can somehow separate out from a basin filled with water, physics be damned) vs. the water around much of Teyvat’s land.

Pyro:  Xinyan’s hamster ball of fire vs. the fire in the braziers throughout Teyvat.

Cryo:  Shenhe’s ice “kagebunshins” vs. the ice and snow in Dragonspine.  Speaking of which, when asked “what is snow” in the new event, you can pick either hydro or cryo element in the dialogue, but I have a funny feeling that the true answer might be neither.

While I have listed a few examples here to support my vague intuition, there are other examples where this difference wasn’t so apparent, like the pyro element.  Most of the time in this game, fire is just fire.  Nevertheless, if this is intended, then it has huge implications for the overall lore and worldbuilding.  In-universe, people of each nation pass down stories of their archon pulling off powerful feats, like Barbatos who supposedly “blew off all the snow and ice and reshaped the land” (read:  winds so strong that completely changed the natural environment), or Morax who was implied to have made Jueyun Karst look the way it does now (read:  tectonic movement so strong that created a bunch of pillar-shaped mountains?  In reality though, the pillar-shaped mountains in Zhangjiajie that MHY took inspiration from was formed by physical erosion).  So just how many of these stories actually took place?  Or were they just shards of truth wrapped in layers upon layers of stories?  Because humans love to craft stories, after all.  Humans enjoy creating and telling stories--stories to celebrate, stories to commemorate, stories to teach lessons, stories to inspire awe (and faith)--and stories are changed as they are passed down.  In this process, some things are retrospectively “fleshed out” and glorified, while some other things are diminished, even forgotten completely.  We see this happen in Mondstadt, in Liyue, in Dragonspine, in Inazuma, and now Sangonomiya/Enkanomiya.  I have a feeling that this could be part of the very abstract “erosion” that Zhongli was talking about.  This kind of erosion isn’t tangible, but is a process unique to the collective memory of human society, brought about by stories and time.

Coming back to Enjou’s claims.  Enjou’s claim was that both Celestia and the gods were all from beyond Teyvat.  Personally, I can only see half of this being possible, namely that Celestia might be from somewhere beyond Teyvat.  I don’t really see the gods as such.  The gods could very well be native to Teyvat, but the whole battle royale for seven archon seats thing was probably started by Celestia.  Anyway, Enjou’s claim may very well be false or only partially true, since we aren’t even halfway through the seven nations yet.  It would be bad storytelling for MHY to give us the truth this early.

What’s she doing in Starfell Lake? Rosaria gritted her teeth, and doing her best to ignore the pain resonating on her back and in her head, surfaced and instinctively swam to the statue that shined blue.

“Huh? Oh, you must be the new one!”

Rosaria tilted her head slightly to meet turquoise (squinted?) eyes beloning to someone with salmon-colored hair and odd horns on her head’s side. “New one? Huh, and who are you?”

The salmonette laughed, shaking her head slightly. “Oh, so rude! I’ll have you know that I am Yanfei, a lawyer of Liyue Harbour. I believe you’re Rosaria? Come on, we need to explain everything since you don’t seem so aware.” Yanfei said, walking away after pulling her law book out and sticking her head in said book.

“Oh and please stay away, I don’t want your cryo anywhere near me.”

Rosaria raised an eyebrow. ‘Aware?’

“So you’re telling me, that this is a “mirror dimension” of Teyvat.”

“Mhm”

“And that when we’re summoned here, we’re characters that the “Player” can raise, strengthen, and use against enemies.”

“Yep”

“And that when in rest, we’re teleported back to the original Teyvat.”

“That’s about it. Anyone who actively uses their vision knows now. You’re the last. I think there’s a new update soon, and a child vision user from inazuma will gain awareness.”

Rosaria laid back down against the rock that supported her weight. Yanfei leaned on a stray wooden plank.

“Harsh way to wake up, I guess.”

The two were in Minlin, Liyue, at the crevices and steep valleys beside Mt. Aocang. The silence folowing after the confirmations was awkward. Rosaria felt stronger and stronger, and suddenly information on how to hit the weak points deeper and much more efficiently, even ways on how to completely double her “skill” and “burst” damage.

Rosaria bit her lip, feeling multiple intense waves of cryo rush over her, freezing her to the very core. Yanfei looked up and raised an eyebrow knowing full well what happened.

“Seems the Player’s leveling your talents. Lucky she has extra Ballad books.”

Rosaria glanced at her companion. “What do you mean? You’re saying it as if it happens to others very often but not to you.”

Yanfei laughs wryly. “The Player needs tonnes of a few certain books. Gold, Prosperity, Ballad, Freedom, and Resistance. They don’t seem to need Diligence much.”

“The Gold is all used up for Zhongli, Xinyan and Xingqiu and they’re trying to max Klee’s Talents, so they’re concentrating on Freedom first, then Prosperity then the rest.”

“They are leveling me up still.” She smiled.

Rosaria shaped her lips in an ‘O’ and left the subject be.

“Lights out…”

Swinging her polearm, she ended the lawachurl with one last elemental burst. The cross-shaped spear enveloped the vicinity with frost, and pulsed with overwhelming power every other second.

The lawachurl fell and turned to dust; shiny orb-shaped hollow balls glowed on the ground. Picking one up, it immediately turned into an ominous mask.

Rosaria raised her eyebrow and proceeded to pick up the rest.

Yanfei floated beside her, along with Xingqiu and Bennett. Xingqiu simply read a book when he was off the field so no one really pain attention when he didn’t want to be disturbed.

Bennett munched happily on a plate of puppy paw hashbrowns and Yanfei showed Rosaria how to access the Player Inventory. Rosaria dumped the lawachurl loot in the Character Development stash then grabbed an apple on the way.

“So They’re about to log off now, what does anyone want to do?” Xingqiu asked, snapping his book closed and letting it fade away.

“Oh! They like to cook a lot, so maybe gather some ingredients?”

All four turned to the navy blue-ish haired girl peeking her head from her hiding spot. Bennett stared at her incredulously. “Were you hiding there the whole time they’re offline?? And why? You’re too near to me, something might have happenned to you!”

Xiangling giggled and scratched the back of her head. “I came along to match with Yanfei and have you all infused with pyro resonance. Also I drop some chili orbs so whenever any of you pick it up, more attack!”

Yanfei deadpanned and turned away to keep her head buried in the law book she kept with her. Xiangling apologized again. “So, they’re low on a lot of things, so if we want to finish before they log back in we better hurry!”

Diluc came out from behind the tall pillars. “And if we don’t want them to know then we better pin this place on the map and start foraging.”

“Okay then, so first off is fowl, meat and fish! Hey Diluc, mind calling Klee?” Xiangling started off.”

“Klee’s asleep.”

“I can blast the fish instead.”

“Hmm, then who’ll shoot down the birds?”

“Mein Fräulein says she’s disgusted you would think of that.”

“Eh, we’ll get to it later when Diona’s awake! Next are berries, sunsettia, lavender melons and seagrass. Let’s get to it!”

I wish we could add more characters to our parties. I have the core team that I'm emotionally very attached to (Kazuha, Kaeya, Albedo) and one flexible spot (other character that I really like but has to go for new characters that I get).

So when Ayato comes out he's gonna be in that flexible spot but how can I run Ayato without Thoma? That's illegal, I can't do that! But I can't remove anyone else from my team :( I'll probably make a second team that has Ayato and Thoma in it and depending on if there will be a new 4* that I like they'll go there too.

But from experience I know that I'll just switch back to my main team after a few days because I miss them

Like rn I have my simp squad (featuring Barbara because I'm building her) that is pretty much focused on burst spam, Albedo's flowers, and then Xiao autos and then I have my girlboss squad w/ Barb, Raiden, Yanfei, and Xinyan/Keqing which is focused on em/reactions and Xinyan w/ a physical build because she's so good or Keqing if I need double electro

and then if all else fails you can just have two main teams built (ur current one and then the one w/ Ayato and Thoma) just in case since there's a ton of combat-based events and you never know what you need, or just to have a dedicated second slot team for spiral!!

rosaria is meant to deal physical damage - of course she can be a cryo damage dealer, but just like xinyan, physical damage is more convenient with the nature of their skills.  it’s too early to definitively say what rosaria’s mechanics are, so i’ll just comment on your team’s elemental resonance and synergy: two cryo gives +15% crit rate against enemies affected by cryo.  bennett and childe is already a good combo, great for vaporize and big damage.  you also have a freeze comp going on sans bennett.  rosaria could be your dps whenever childe switches back into ranged form!  so i think so far your team is pretty solid :0

i have heard of him yes!!  admittedly though i don’t really watch a lot of his content . . . all of the things i’ve heard about his videos, though, have been very positive!  in-depth and explains the nuances between different artifacts, weapons, etc.  i believe he’s (mid)core with how he explains things as well . . . ?  overall someone who i’d trust if i was lost on a genshin topic.

yes!  childe is still worth pulling.  let me put this on a scale, hm . . . if diluc is the best dps in the game, a 9/10 on the scale, then childe is like . 7.5/10??? even if he doesn’t have constellations.  his aoe (in my opinion) is actually more than diluc’s due to riptide procs.  he also has amazing synergy with bennett, even when not ulting.  my point with bringing up childe’s constellation lock is that there’s just so much more he can do with them than without - c0 childe and c6 childe are not the same character, unlike c0 vs c6 keqing (hahaha someone fight me over this).  

stringless is currently venti’s best gacha bow, besides skyward harp, but the new 5star weapon elegy for the end is looking to be venti’s own 5star weapon.  so weapon prio for venti would go elegy of the end > stringless > skyward harp > favonius warbow imo. 

for childe, skyward harp > viridescent hunt > rust > stringless, but only stringless if you build bennett!  explanation here.

qiqi is the better healer - 5stars have higher base stats than 4stars.  qiqi scales off of atk, while barbara scales off of hp.  qiqi’s skill can also apply the physical debuff superconduct because it’s electro, whereas barbara’s hydro skill cannot apply debuffs. 

same logic kind of applies with their ults, with the addition that qiqi can just quick cast and switch out to have her allies attack enemies who are marked, continuously gaining health until the mark wears off, while barbara’s ult heal value is fixed. 

and yes, you are really lucky if you get a 5star within 70 pulls - much less 30!!  and about the “people are talking about getting a good five star in ninety pulls”, this is true.  90 pulls is hard pity, and there is a chance to get a 5star between 76-80 pulls.  getting a 5star in less than 76 pulls is rare enough already, so the fact that you got 2 within 30 (when the pull rate for a 5star is 0.6% - not even a full percent) is amazing.

keep white tassel, especially if it’s r5!  don’t use dragonspine spear because the physical damage bonus on hutao is icky.  r5 white tassel beats out favonius lance on all regards imo as well, since the white tassel r5 passive increases normal attack damage by 48%.  yes, even if it’s a 3star weapon, i’ve seen lots of hutao players excel with it.  so it seems as if white tassel r5 is your best option so far!

HSADLJFSDFD YEAH?  his playstyle doesn’t take long to get used to though :0 it’s just about counting your seconds or getting a feel for when you should switch him back to ranged form so your skill cd isn’t too long.  he also has a lot of repetitive terminology in his kit LOL thanks mhy ;; but i promise playing him is easier than it sounds :0

Keqing looks up from the empty pizza box she was breaking down when the silence goes on too long. Everyone is looking at Ganyu, who’s staring at a very bland, tasteless, but inoffensive generic canvas painting on Keqing’s wall. The previous apartment owner had left it behind and for the lack of anything better Keqing hasn’t removed it.

“What’s wrong?” Keqing asks. She lost track of the conversation somewhere in between trying to sort out the trash of their pizza delivery — there’s still a whole two boxes of pizza left, not to mention the chicken wings, the giant container of salad that’s still got a good third of its contents left, and the extremely dark looking chocolate cake that came with the meal set. She has no idea where these people put it. Keqing thinks she’s a good eater, but the amount of food some of them are putting away is truly mind boggling.

“One of the new interns at our firm made a mistake today,” Yanfei says, “Nothing too bad. Nothing I couldn’t fix, you know? It was a pretty common mistake. All rookies make it at least once. It’s a learning experience. Anyway this poor kid took it hard — one of those ones. You know, where they gotta do everything perfect the first time around or they’ll be super ashamed like they’ve somehow brought dishonor to the entire ancestral line? So I was trying to comfort them by telling them about some of my mistakes. But like. These kids see me every day and they know I’ve made the occasional mis-step so it doesn’t mean as much. So I told them about this one time that the illustrious chief secretary of the Qixing — “

“It wasn’t me.” Ganyu interrupts. Keqing’s eyes flick to the other woman, who is still staring at the wall. Keqing thinks Ganyu is in shock. “Yanfei. That wasn’t me.”

“Ganyu, you’re only human,” Xingqiu says, putting a consoling hand on her shoulder. “Everyone makes mistakes. And it was truly harmless one. You don’t have to be so — “

Ganyu turns to look at Xingqiu, eyes firm and shoulders squaring. “It wasn’t me.”

“What wasn’t you?” Keqing asks.

“Apparently when Ganyu was still new to the Qixing she took some ambassadors from Fontaine to the wrong building and almost got them arrested for suspicious behavior,” Hu Tao answers, picking out another chicken wing. “Who could blame her? The Qixing buildings are like a spirit maze. Who are you lot trying to keep trapped in there, huh?”

“It. Wasn’t. Me,” Ganyu insists, head slowly turning. “It was Yanfei. Her firm was representing a foreign case and sent her as one of the lead assistants. She took the group from Fontaine to our immigration center instead of our general business building.”

Everyone turns to look at Yanfei.

“In my defense, it was also during the time when the Qixing was doing the whole renovation project of their buildings. I got a little turned around." Yanfei sticks her lower lip out at Ganyu. “Don’t be mad at me. A-yu. What’s the harm? If I told them the story with me as the person in it they wouldn’t care. If the story has you in it then it’s suddenly alright! It makes them feel better that even someone with your track record can make little silly mistakes like that. And the poor little intern reminded me so much of you I thought it would help them relate more. I would have said it about Keqing but she’s been working as Yuheng for so long that it wouldn’t make sense for her to be escorting people from Fontaine around the Qixing buildings.”

Ganyu puts a hand over her eyes, but the tension is already releasing from her shoulders. “Yanfei."

“Alright, alright. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. From now on only the most flattering stories will be told about you, alright? If I ever need to comfort an intern or a junior member I’ll tell them stories about Xingqiu instead. Eat some more. It’s your favorite dressing.” Yanfei immediately goes to put more salad onto Ganyu’s abandoned plate.

“Why would you tell them stories about me?" Xingqiu asks, taking another piece of pizza with white sauce. “I don’t do anything important enough that it would matter.”

“It’s cute how you say that but we all know so much better,” Keqing retorts. “You play yourself down too much. It’s suspicious.”

“I’m wounded.”

“Good. Poor Chongyun can do with you being knocked down a peg or two on occasion."

"Poor didi,” Hu Tao nods in agreement.

Xingqiu turns to Hu tao, “You told him he’s the youngest? I was saving that for a special occasion. I was going to spring it on him when he was least prepared. Maybe use it to distract him from an argument.”

“You’re terrible,” Yanfei says. “He loves you so much.”

Xingqiu preens and Keqing pulls another bottle of tea out of the refrigerator.

“Back to the real reason I called you over,” Keqing says, “Aside from making me order a ridiculous amount of take out.”

“It wasn’t because you missed our wonderful company?” Hu Tao pouts. “Why do we always need a reason to see each other, huh? Life is so short we should see each other just because we can.”

“Do not start trying to sell us end of life plans,” Xingqiu warns, pointing his fork at Hu Tao. “Do not.”

“I don’t need to sell to you; I already got your plans drawn and paid for. I’m just trying to impress upon you in case you remember certain significant others or family members who haven’t gotten their affairs in order. You want to handle this ahead of time before it becomes a pressing need, you know. The last thing anyone wants is to be in the middle of grieving or going through a heavy loss and — “

Keqing presses the cold bottle to the back of Hu Tao’s neck, causing the woman to yelp.

“I called you here because I’m getting rid of some of my old camping gear,” Keqing says, “It’s not too badly used and some of it was pretty expensive. So I thought some of you might like to go through it. I texted Xinyan and she already passed on it. Xiao-ge has most of the stuff I have and he’s…particular about his equipment.”

She pauses. “I would have asked Chongyun but I figure Xingqiu’s got the better eye and if I had both of you over you two would argue about everything. Mostly because you like to be a contrary jerk.”

“I’m hurt. Is that any way to talk to a dear friend?”

“Who’s a dear friend?”

“Xiangling would probably be able to use whatever you’re getting rid of,” Ganyu says.

“Xiangling probably has more gear than I do,” Keqing replies. “And it’s much more…hard core. Xiangling doesn’t joke around about camping and outdoor activities. I think she got approached for her own TV show once. Come on, I have it all in the next room.”

“And what spurred this inventory clean out?” Xingqiu asks, standing up and stretching his arms over his head.

“Your camping equipment list is already so short, please tell me you aren’t turning into a complete survivalist,” Hu Tao says. “Are you just going to go out in the wilderness with a knife and some rope now? What are you trying to prove?”

“My parents bought me new equipment for my birthday,” Keqing replies. “And I feel silly having duplicates. It’s too much.”

“Act like a rich kid for once would you?” Yanfei elbows Keqing lightly. “Oh, hey. I’ve been looking for this kind of fishing pole. Never mind, don’t act rich. I’m nabbing this.”
