Also if someone could come up with a better/cooler name for Vast!Jon I would be eternally grateful. I wanted to do something about floating or jumping, but “the jumper” doesn’t sound that intimidating , so “the pilot” will do for now

statement about someone who tried to paint the sun, but kept making it bigger and bigger, always unhappy with how small it was. eventually they finished the project, and it was just a tiny, tiny speck on the canvas. the statement giver asked them why it was so small. they said "oh, it's not small at all. you're just very, very far away." and when the statement giver looked back at the painting, the speck started growing, getting bigger and bigger, and the statement giver felt like they were falling into the painting. eventually it stopped. the painter was visible next to them again, and they merely whispered "really puts things into perspective, doesn't it?"

Oddly specific, mundane things that are aligned with the 15 fears:

The Eye- Making deep eye contact with a stranger on the platform as the train pulls away.

The Hunt- Wanting something so badly that you can't stay still anymore.

The Buried- Trying to get your phone back when it falls between your bed and the wall

The Vast- Being a child and hearing about how unknowably large Chuthulu is for the first time.

The Flesh- Looking in the mirror and realising your body's changed since the last time you really looked.

The Lonely- Realising you're the only customer at the supermarket.

The Corruption- When you see one ant but once you've focused on it you can see the rest of them.

The End- Holding an antique object and knowing that it's original owner is long dead.

The Desolation- That gut wrenching feeling when you've lost something you know you're not going to be able to get back.

The Stranger- Looking into the eyes of a loved one and not being able to see anything you know in there.

The Spiral- When you say something loud enough to be heard and absolutely nobody processes it or responds.

The Dark- Straining your eyes to try and see something at the end of an unlit corridor that you swear you could almost see.

The Slaughter- Ripping up a letter with your full name and address on and throwing it in the bin.

The Extinction- Being the last player left alive in a survival game and realising that in another life that could happen for real.

The Web- That burning, guilty feeling after you're manipulated into doing something you didn't want to do.

Random avatar and fears headcanons before why not

When Nikola spins like a ballerina, she likes to keep her head still, not moving it, just to freak people out because she thinks it's funny

It's not uncommon for avatars of the end to comfort those about to die and keep them company until they take their final breath

Elias/Jonah and Annabelle enjoy playing chess together, but their version where each piece represents a fear, using the "leader" of the avatars. Annabelle likes to use these chess pieces to manipulate someone like a puppet but plays innocent when gets "called out" on it.

In fact, chess pieces aren't the only thing that uses the fears as representations. Peter Lucas has a deck of playing cards that also does the same thing as the chess pieces.

Elias/Jonah has tried to teach Peter Lucas how to play chess and Peter tried to teach him how play different games with playing cards... Let's just say it didn't end well and it's a running joke with the other avatars that this was one of the causes of their many divorces.

Simon Fairchild tends to treat the other vast avatars as his kids or grandkids even if they are theoretically older than him, he doesn't give a shit.

Simon also has a habit of just hitting someone on the head with his cane; for no reason, just because he can. But he has killed people by repeatedly bashing their heads in with said cane if they piss him off so much that he thinks that using his abilities on them isn't enough of a punishment

Avatars of the dark can turn themselves or be turned into shadow people. Targets are heavily advised to have a very bright nightlight because these avatars are technically a lot more dangerous than the others

Isa "The Founder". I think the Vast is way too perfect for her given she lives in the sky with seemingly nothing but an endless expanse

Also called The Falling Titan. The fear of heights, falling, and large open spaces including sky, space, and deep water. More broadly: the human fear of insignificance and meaninglessness, of losing oneself in too much space. Manifests as void, wide-open spaces, vertigo, falling, the transformation of something that should have a limit into something infinite.
