Interesting that the ritual the coven performed for the two girls in episode 3 is called the Ascension. That's the same name Palpatine used for the ritual where Rey was supposed to kill him and take the throne/be possessed by the Sith on Exegol in TROS.
Perhaps the ritual was changed over time to benefit Sith needs? On the other hand, we don't know the full purpose of the ritual in The Acolyte. Perhaps if we had seen the ritual to its completion, we would find out that the two rituals were more similar than one might think.
You know what? Even though I overall dislike The Rise of Skywalker, I love that Anakin’s line to Rey in the climax “Bring back the balance, Rey, as I did” pretty much translates to “Kill that motherfucker”.
Reminder that Galadriel, the elf whose coming to the island of Númenor apparently heralds its downfall, was accompanied by a slightly overlooked “low man” ... who will one day indeed contribute to its demise.
I fell down a random YouTube rabbit hole and was vividly reminded of how much I love this damn ship and these two wonderful, star-crossed dumbasses.
I only saw TRoS once, in the theater on opening day, and I've never wanted to revisit it. Seeing clips from it on YT reminded me that there were some awesome Reylo moments, and if they had both just stayed alive and had their hard-earned happily ever after, I would have been able to forgive everything else about TRoS that sucked.
Instead I'm still gutted at what a crushing disappointment it was, and what a colossal waste of a fantastic character, an epic ship, and a beautiful bookend to the series.
you can still love sol without trying so hard to justify his actions. he fucked up, his assumptions and actions were wrong and it let to this tragical disaster.
"what he did was not that serious"
girl he killed twins mother and it let to the whole coven dying, be serious here for a moment
his character's arc is amazing, i love every little tragical nuance he has and fascinated by his story, but let's not downplay his actions because he is jedi and famously jedi can't do anything wrong
Ok, so I’ve seen a lot of people making lists of questions that need to be answered in the finale but are we just gonna forget about this??
This is in ep3 when the Emperor comes to Tantiss and goes into the vault with Hemlock and Nala Se. There were these container things that we didn’t see what was inside them and I haven’t seen anyone talking about them. If you have, then great!!! Because what are these things about!!!!
Because it’s not the kids, this is the part of the vault where they are ⬇️
Very different design. But seriously what are in these container things??? Snoke clones?? Dead Jedi??? More kids?? Direct clones of the Emperor??
And what’s in the middle part of the room? The design of the room is also very reminiscent of the sith temples (imo). This is one of the things they definitely need to answer in the finale, or at least what I want answered.
* it pretty much ended the Skywalker line, while Palpatine’s line lived on. Sure, Rey decided to reject her lineage but in many of the audience’s eyes she’s still a Palpatine.
* Han died trying to get Ben/Kylo to come home to Leia. It feels like such a waste and tragedy that Ben/Kylo died anyway.
* Leia stopped her Jedi training after she had a vision that Ben would die if she finished it. Ben dying anyway made that feel like a huge waste.
* What did Ben’s death do to help redeem him? Nothing. Yes, he resurrected Rey, which could be considered a selfless act, but he wasn’t instrumental in taking down the evil. Vader’s redemption-death was good partly because he killed Palpatine to save his son. He single-handedly got rid of the source of all the horror and darkness and destroyed the Sith. Ben/Kylo did not do anything like that--he just resurrected Rey, after she’d taken down Palpatine. What was the point in Kylo/Ben dying then?
If he’d survived, his redemption arc, which was truly botched in the movie, could’ve been expanded upon. We could’ve seen him actually face the pain he’d caused, we could’ve seen how people felt about him, we could’ve seen him at least try to atone for his crimes, even if he could never fully atone.
* Also... his death was pretty much like how Vader died. Why did we have to see that trope again?
* “But only death can absolve him of his crimes!!” That might be true... but what about Revan, who also committed atrocities and managed to redeem himself? What about Atton Rand, who was a Sith Assassin who tortured and murdered countless Jedi? What about the Exile and Bao-Durr, who were responsible for the brutal deaths of thousands of people and the destruction of a planet? Yes, it’s true that Revan, Atton, Bao-Durr and the Exile are way more sympathetic than Kylo Ren, but they all still had blood on their hands.
I have a feeling that something went really reeeeeally south w gege after shibuya arc/in the middle of culling game (mb maki art raw sketches posting is when it finally got him)
Bc whole old sorrceres of the past coming back feelis like it shouldve been a flash back abt sukuna. Not them being in final arc of the manga instead of focus villan LIKE KENJAKU????we were given like 5 new ppl near the end and a whole new bunch of abilities outta the ass
to me, this guy is like how kylo ren feels he is perceived by others (when he's actually just a overpowered whiny child throwing temper tantrums lmaoooo).
