Y'know how there's bowuigi angst fics/headcanons where bowser outlives luigi?

What if it was the other way around?

Bowser is aware that his lifespan is shorter than a humans lifespan (whether this applies to him only or every other koopa is up to you) maybe he has a terminal illness or something?)) but is too nervous to tell luigi because he doesn't want luigi to become absolutely devastated that he'll likely outlive the love of his life.

If he does tell luigi, it would end with them both crying in each others arms and they both have a really hard time coming to terms that there isn't anything that can be done about it. Bowser has an especially hard time because he might not live long enough to see jr completely grow up and he doesn't want luigi to feel like he's being forced into a corner to raise jr and the rest of the koopalings once he's dead.

But it also brings up the question of whether or not luigi would assume bowsers role as king of the koopas or if there's already someone else planned to take his place to not stress luigi out (assuming that junior is still too young to have the throne)

Once bowser does finally die mega angst ensues. Luigi becoming an absolute emotional mess but also desperately trying to keep himself together for the sake of junior and the koopalings. Mario and peach helping luigi through every stage of grief while kamek (if he's still alive) also does his best to process the death of his adopted son and help junior and the rest of the koopalings too.

There would be a massive funeral in the entire koopa kingdom over the death of their king while luigi commissions a memorial in memory of bowser.

I had this idea, like an au/game idea, where it's kind of like a sequel or add on to Mario Bros U. Where Peach gets to spend genuine time with the Koopalings and Bowser and actually falls in love with them, and they become a big family. Peach goes chain chomp riding with Iggy, ice skating with Wendy, blows stuff up with Roy, all the fun stuff the kids are into. She gets a villainous side to her and enjoys being bad. The story kicks off when Mario goes through and beats 7 of the Koopalings, but this time it's like they actually die. Peach goes through absolute heartbreak, watching her children be killed one by one, and out of a desperate attempt to keep Jr. safe, she takes on the role of the main villian. Mario defeats Bowser at the end of world 8, but after he does, a hooded figure come in. Mario squares up to fight, but the figure uses one of the Koopalings wands to reset the stages. This time, the game has no Koopalings, but instead the hooded figure fights Mario in almost the exact same manner as the fights with the Koopalings, wearing symbols that represent the kids on their cloak. At the end of world 8 this time, Mario starts off fighting Bowser Jr., who in an attempt to take Mario out for hurting his family, almost gets killed himself. The hooded figure runs in mid fight, pushes Mario out of the way and hugs Jr. protectively. Mario uncloaks the figure, and it is revealed to be Peach. A broken woman with only one thing left out of the family she had built. She looks at Mario, the so called hero of her story, absolutely furious that he'd try to take another of her children. She calls Kamek down and gets him to take Jr. to safety. Jr. protests but Kamek obeys. Peach pushes herself off the floor, facing the destroyer of her family, and prepares to fight. The fight includes a combination of everything the Koopalings did and used in their fights, and of course stuff unique to Peach. She fights with the intent to murder, and succeeds. Over and over and over again. Mario is lucky. He has extra lives. He can always try again. There are two options of where it can go. Mario gets a game over, Peach kills him and she takes over the Mushroom and Koopa kingdom with Bowser Jr., or Mario wins. Mario kills Peach, the princess he strived to save since day 1. Bowser Jr. proceeds to grow up with nothing but the troops. He grows up with everything his father had strived to avoid. Alone, empty, surrounded by hatred. The next story takes place when Jr. grows up. Built on hatred and revenge, he vowes to never lose to the plumber again. He vowes to avenge his family.

(A continuing of the Koopalings non biological siblings headcanon) The Koopalings were adopted by Bowser at different times. Ludwig was adopted following the death of his parents in a lightening accident, Roy was adopted following the death of his boxer father, Morton was adopted after one of Bowser's friends from high school died and Iggy, Lemmy, Wendy and Larry were adopted after the disappearance of there mother.

Ludwig HATES being called Luddy. The only time that he doesn't mind this is if one of his siblings is scared, especially Larry, Lemmy, Jr, or even Iggy. They'll usually cling to Ludwig and hide behind him and address him as Luddy. They rarely get that scared, but when they do, it's usually a life/death situation, in which case Ludwig will do anything he possibly can in his power to protect them, even if it means sacrificing himself.
