Undertale AU where it’s just a bunch of teens playing homebrew DnD and deciding to introduce Frisk to their campaign because they’re a baby player who wants to get into it!!! And sometimes the parents pop in to play every once and a while to see what’s going on.

Chara could be the DM because they’re really good at telling stories and improv, and sometimes Asriel takes over when they’re busy or tired! They run all their stories by Sans because he used to DM for the party but decided to step down, but it’s still kind of “his game” in a way, and he helps fine tune the plots and stuff!

The underground could be a fictional world that they built over a long period of time, which is why there’s a lot of backstory for Frisk to uncover.

Rolling!! For!! Determination!!!! The other souls could be stats as well!!

Mettaton and Alphys could create real-world things for the game!! Mettaton could maybe do custom soundtracks for different areas and fights, and Alphys could make some really nice maps and figurines for the group!!

Undyne being the reason for “wisdom and intelligence are two different things” (yeah, I know that doing this will burn my house down but it would be fun!!) but also being really good in fights and courage tests!!! She helps the kids when it comes to planning out bosses (without spoiling it too much for herself)

I’m not arguing with you, but...

Ah yes, my all-time favourite excuse to argue with a GM. I don’t know what makes players think that prefacing an argument by claiming not to be making it negates the fact that they are, in fact, arguing with the GM, but it’s one of my more common pet peeves. I’m lucky to get through even one session, as player or GM, where at least one person doesn’t try to argue.

Hot take: It is annoying to say, ‘I’m not arguing, but...’ and then immediately argue.

Another hot take: It is not annoying to disagree with your GM and to discuss the disagreement.

As a GM, I respect and trust my players, and I like to think that they respect and trust me as well. I know that my players may sometimes disagree with how I rule some situations, and I am more than happy to discuss the decision with them.

However, nothing irritates me more than when I say, ‘No, Merisiel, you cannot have a bonus to Diplomacy against this NPC since they’re extremely hostile right now,’ and they come back with, ‘I’m not arguing, TabletopTales, but we were childhood friends! I’d give me a bonus if I were you.’

Great, Merisiel! You’re not me. I put thought into my answers when I give them, I promise. You trusted me to run this game; please trust me to assess a situation and give you a fair ruling. Or did you forget the Sense Motive bonus I gave you against your childhood friend ten minutes ago?
