Something Lost (さがしもの)  - 2019
A story about a girl who is lost looking for her identity in the wild. In the end she finds herself. Takuji Miyamoto directed and animated this short with music by sooogood!. Short film created with the idea of "What do people feel when they visit the rich and grand nature of Hokkaido?" Some of my favourite scenes from Batman Ninja.
Undoubtedly, the scene that stood out the most for me was Red Hood’s encounter with a memory-loss Joker and Harley. The art style (reminiscent of The Tale of the Princess Kaguya) turned into a mix of watercolour and sketch giving the scene a sense of lucidness and melancholic peace.
It was like the world was going to end tomorrow for the creators, and they were tasked with creating the last Batman movie. What we get is a beautiful, over-the-top, ridiculous movie. Crazy ridiculous, but a ton of fun.

Twitter User Dives Deep into Mob Psycho 100 II Ep 5's Visual Splendor
If you're all caught up on Mob Psycho 100 II, that means you were treated to a truly dynamic fifth episode. For a closer look at who and what made this installment of the second season so special, Twitter user @AshitanoGin provided an awesome breakdown. Dig in below for more on some of the animation behind one of the best shows of the Winter 2019 anime season!
So Mob #05 was a visual feast, yes? Let's take a look at a few idiosyncratic animators that stood out immediately in an already packed staff list.
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
Masami Mori (known as soty for a few users here) presumably animated the scary Mob in the first part. When it comes to drawing legs and arms, he has a pennant for going for lean bodies. That smile is perfect. pic.twitter.com/noIiZmbTSB
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
Takuji Miyamoto is nowadays the most prominent follower of the Ohira-school, so no wonder we got a few cuts here that feel like they could have been penned by the master himself. Without letting his personal mark go, Miyamoto keeps impressing. pic.twitter.com/iAll20jHMt
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
Keiichiro Watanabe's effects are so from the other world that I can't begin to describe them. But this is what makes this animator's work so special. So good to see his animation in an espers' fight! pic.twitter.com/OdAbQ0saFE
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
And talking about Watanabe, another animator who is also a fan of him is Ken Yamamoto! I think Ken tried to draw his scene inspired by Watanabe's FXs. For a bit I was so confused that I thought that this scene was from the former's too. Reading tho, I think this part is his. pic.twitter.com/Dd9Jy2fVsA
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
Not all the staff list was composed of talented youngsters tho! Some industry legends such as Yasunori Miyazawa helped in the episode too. This scene could very well be Miyazawa's since it looks like it came straight from a Yuasa series. pic.twitter.com/EfhoIK3Qqd
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
And talking about Yuasa, @liborek3 thinks this cut could very well be from an animator of Science Saru, Tassei Karibe (wild reading of the name), since it is the only scene that seems to be made by flash. pic.twitter.com/rrgyNppsNd
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
I was so impressed by this scene too, and if it is confirmed to be Moaang's work I'll be very pleased to have known the artist. The rough lineart here in the hands is delicious. pic.twitter.com/RhllfkyfLP
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
As you might have seen, not all is action in this episode. It is also filled with incredible character action. Of all the scenes, this part was the one that left me more impressed. Who did it? Wild guess, but maybe Jin Ooyama? pic.twitter.com/1PFAhiVu2Y
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
I have been praising all the animators involved but have avoided yet to talk about the mastermind behind it all. Hakuyu Go directed, storyboarded and supervised the episode. He demonstrated an incredible sense of framing and timming. pic.twitter.com/aApiqEXq9i
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
He even boarded his usual gimmick. He can't not love aerial combats, he already has animated a few fights in gravity-defying rubble worlds (Kekkai sensen 12, flip flappers 13) and now he even created more minutes of this type of confrontation. pic.twitter.com/KFvszxK8An
— Ashita (@AshitanoGin) February 4, 2019
Big thanks to @AshitanoGin for the deep dive, so be sure to check out more on their Twitter account!
