Koum
A Monday Monday Song Koum is the fifth song off my recently released Peace Colored Gown album. It is a song of healing. The name comes from the story in Mark 5:41, where Jesus heals a little girl. Koum is Aramaic for Arise! The song was recorded at Bad Boll Productions, my home studio in the 90s, using Performer software on an Apple Mac computer, an EMU Orchestral synth, and a Tascam 4 Trac…

𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟑𝟎, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐆𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥
Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Gospel 5:21-24, 35b-43
When Jesus had crossed again in the boat
to the other side,
a large crowd gathered around him, and he stayed close to the sea.
One of the synagogue officials, named Jairus, came forward.
Seeing him he fell at his feet and pleaded earnestly with him, saying,
"My daughter is at the point of death.
Please, come lay your hands on her
that she may get well and live."
He went off with him,
and a large crowd followed him and pressed upon him.
While he was still speaking, people from the synagogue official's house arrived and said,
"Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?"
Disregarding the message that was reported,
Jesus said to the synagogue official,
"Do not be afraid; just have faith."
He did not allow anyone to accompany him inside
except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.
When they arrived at the house of the synagogue official,
he caught sight of a commotion,
people weeping and wailing loudly.
So he went in and said to them,
"Why this commotion and weeping?
The child is not dead but asleep."
And they ridiculed him.
Then he put them all out.
He took along the child's father and mother
and those who were with him
and entered the room where the child was.
He took the child by the hand and said to her, "Talitha koum,"
which means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise!"
The girl, a child of twelve, arose immediately and walked around.
At that they were utterly astounded.
He gave strict orders that no one should know this
and said that she should be given something to eat.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2024
Belief over Fear
John Schliesser (Alabama, USA)
Jesus told [Jairus], “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” - Mark 5:36 (NIV)
"'The waiting room was half full that morning. Many people appeared to be on edge, including me. My symptoms indicated the possibility of a serious diagnosis. I wanted to be emotionally prepared to hear what the doctor might say. As I started to pray, the story of Jairus came to mind. In Mark 5, Jesus was met by a synagogue leader named Jairus, who begged him to come and place his hands on his daughter, who was near death. On the way to his house, messengers arrived saying his daughter was dead, but Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
Fear can easily overwhelm us when we are faced with dire news. I decided not to let fear control my thoughts and feelings and was determined to give this situation to God. I would trust that God was with me, whatever happened.
Our best response to fear is to trust the God who loves us. When we trust, we fix our eyes on Jesus rather than our circumstances. Whether or not our prayers are answered in the way that we hoped, we can choose to follow Jesus’ command to Jairus: “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”'
TODAY'S PRAYER
"Dear Lord, we thank you for being with us, upholding us, and comforting us in every situation." Amen.
Mark 5:24, 35-43
"'24 So Jesus went with him. A swarm of people were following Jesus, crowding in on him. 35 While Jesus was still speaking with her, messengers came from the synagogue leader’s house, saying to Jairus, “Your daughter has died. Why bother the teacher any longer?” 36 But Jesus overheard their report and said to the synagogue leader, “Don’t be afraid; just keep trusting.” 37 He didn’t allow anyone to follow him except Peter, James, and John, James’ brother. 38 They came to the synagogue leader’s house, and he saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “What’s all this commotion and crying about? The child isn’t dead. She’s only sleeping.” 40 They laughed at him, but he threw them all out. Then, taking the child’s parents and his disciples with him, he went to the room where the child was. 41 Taking her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Young woman, get up.” 42 Suddenly the young woman got up and began to walk around. She was 12 years old. They were shocked! 43 He gave them strict orders that no one should know what had happened. Then he told them to give her something to eat."' Jesus' miracles gives all of us hope. Feel blessed! Joe

Miracles of Compassion Jesus' Divine Authority Unveiled in Mark 5
Dive into Mark 5, where Jesus turns a regular day into an episode of "Miracle Makeover: Biblical Edition"! First stop, the haunted tombs of Gerasenes, where Jesus meets a man with more demons than a horror movie marathon—talk about needing a spiritual detox! Jesus sends those pesky spirits into a herd of pigs that take a cliff-diving competition a bit too seriously. Next, we zip through a crowd where a woman, after a 12-year battle with an illness no doctor could crack, thinks, "Why not DIY my healing?" She reaches out, touches Jesus’ robe, and bam! Instant cure—talk about a touch of faith! And for the grand finale, Jesus swings by a house party turned sad, where a little girl is taking a deathly nap. With a simple "Talitha koum," which might as well mean "Rise and shine, sleepyhead," she's back and ready for snacks. Mark 5? More like Mark Thrive—where the impossible becomes possible!

34 Jésus lui dit alors : « Ma fille, ta foi t’a sauvée.

» (Is 41,13). (Note du P. Mario Doyle, C.Ss.R.

Daily Gospel
Mark 5:21-43 or 5:21-24, 35b-43

There was a woman afflicted with hemorrhages for twelve years.
She had suffered greatly at the hands of many doctors
and had spent all that she had.
Yet she was not helped but only grew worse.
She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd
and touched his cloak.
She said, "If I but touch his clothes, I shall be cured."
Immediately her flow of blood dried up.
She felt in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
Jesus, aware at once that power had gone out from him,
turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who has touched my clothes?"
But his disciples said to Jesus,
"You see how the crowd is pressing upon you,
and yet you ask, 'Who touched me?'"
And he looked around to see who had done it.
The woman, realizing what had happened to her,
approached in fear and trembling.
She fell down before Jesus and told him the whole truth.
He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has saved you.
Go in peace and be cured of your affliction."
While he was still speaking,
people from the synagogue official's house arrived and said,
"Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?"
Disregarding the message that was reported,

This morning while in prayer 🙏🏼 and I’m making my coffee ☕️; I heard this prophetic word from the Lord:
“My dear beloved bride,
Just as you are hearing this song in your spirit man. So, I too, am breathing 😮‍💨 life back into this land. America 🇺🇸 , remember that you shall live once again. Your very best days are ahead of you. They are not behind you. So many are saying that you are lost. And that you are far behind all hope. Oh my dear beloved bride. The awakening that was prophesied by so many long ago; it is just getting started. My saints of the sovereign most high God are receiving their life now back unto to themselves once more. Oh America. You are not done. Oh no. Rejoice. For you see, your greatest days are just ahead of you. Just one walk away. Oh Church ⛪️ ,This is your hour. This is your finest moment. You might see utter brokenness. I indeed do see my strength. Press into me. For as you’ve never even pressed in ever before. I say to you my church. Or my beloved bride, awaken. Get up. MARCH 12, 2024
God Sees Us
Bob LaForge (New Jersey, USA)
"[Jesus] gave them strict orders that no one should know what had happened. Then he told them to give her something to eat." - Mark 5:43 (CEB)
"In Mark 5, Jesus exorcised a demon, healed a woman of her hemorrhage, and raised a little girl from the dead. I would have guessed that after all that, Jesus would have rubbed his hands together and called it a day. Or maybe he would have sat back among a crowd to recount all that he had done. That is what I would have done. But that was not Jesus’ way.
Jesus was more concerned about the risen girl’s needs. She was not a project to him; she was not a means to make himself look better. Jesus saw the young girl as a person with needs and fears. While everyone else was ecstatic and shocked, Jesus saw that the girl was hungry and told her mother and father to give her some food.
In God’s eyes we are not means to an end. We are not just one of many pieces in the puzzle. To God, each one of us is a person with our own needs and fears. God is interested in even the tiniest details of our lives. In every moment, remember that there is nothing too trivial to bring to God." Offer up to God every need, from the gigantic to the tiniest. He is authentically concerned about every need.
TODAY'S PRAYER
"Dear God, may we always remember that you are aware of our struggles every moment of our lives. As your people, we thank you for always caring about us." Amen.
Mark 5:35-43
"'35 While Jesus was still speaking with her, messengers came from the synagogue leader’s house, saying to Jairus, “Your daughter has died. Then he told them to give her something to eat."' In the unbelief of the followers, Jesus had raised up the young girl. And He did so by moving away from the people, with chosen disciples, and called her to get up. He kept even this miracle a secret. We are so blessed! Joe

Tuesday 31st January 2023 in the 4th Week of Ordinary Time is the feast of St John Bosco (1815 - 1888), Italian Priest. John Bosco is called the "Apostle of Youth." He was a great educator and father to the young. He founded the Salesian School to educate boys and girls.
St John Bosco is the patron saint of apprentices, young people and Catholic publishers and editors.
The Gospel today from Mark 5: 21 - 43 confirms our reflections in the past few days on the power of faith.
By faith the woman afflicted with hemorrhages touched the hem of the garment of Jesus and was healed instantly.
By faith, Jairus the synagogue official sought out Jesus to heal his daughter who was at the point of death. By faith Jairus believed Jesus when he was told:“Do not be afraid; just have faith.”
By faith St John Bosco heard the call of Jesus to be a father and educator to the fatherless and established the Salesian Congregation to educate young boys. By faith the Salesians are today still engaged in this work of faith and labor of love.
Lord Jesus, grant us the faith that moves mountains. St John Bosco, pray for us.

Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.“ While he was still speaking, people from the synagogue official's house arrived and said, "Your daughter has died; why trouble the teacher any longer?“ Disregarding the message that was reported, Jesus said to the synagogue official, "Do not be afraid; just have faith. “He did not allow anyone to accompany him inside except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. When they arrived at the house of the synagogue official, he caught sight of a commotion, people weeping and wailing loudly. So he went in and said to them, "Why this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead but asleep.“ And they ridiculed him. Then he put them all out. He took along the child's father and mother and those who were with him and entered the room where the child was.
He took the child by the hand and said to her, "Talitha koum", which means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise!" The girl, a child of twelve, arose immediately and walked around.
At that they were utterly astounded. He gave strict orders that no one should know this and said that she should be given something to eat.

Talitha Koum When the Lord says, "Tell my people to arise," there's no holding back. Thank you Lord for Your word that gives us hope amidst the darkness pressing around. May we continue to dedicate ourselves before You each day as You extend Your hand while in our darkness. 💙 #DayOfDedication #KayoAngAkingLigaya https://www.instagram.com/p/CnbtrzEv59VNqHdRFOm_SGeLJk-qNjXM4XhSjo0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
