Is it possible for technology to change authors? The premise is not an unfounded one. In the United States, business is booming, people are finding themselves on the front lines of tomorrow's big battles, and book publishers are struggling with how to keep up. The proliferation of e-books is just one example of the need for authors to think about their careers. Books were once a window to the world and held a link to other cultures. A bestselling author had much more influence over the culture than a famous actor or comedian. Today, books offer few advantages compared to the mass media that provides entertainment and educational experiences. It is not a good idea to assume that the contemporary role of the book is obsolete. The titles of many books are now being digitally printed and distributed online. With e-books are becoming popular, and many authors working from home, the demand for books is still strong. At the same time, it is possible that some authors will have to adapt to newer technologies that do not work with print. In fact, that is already happening. Some authors are even working on publishing books for which they need to self-publish because of the increasing popularity of e-books. Those who cannot rely on the traditional method of publishing will have to find a new way to get the attention of readers. This is no easy task. When you read about some of the stories in this series, you may think that people will have to change the way they write. They might be correct, but that does not mean that they will have to change the way they write. You can choose to adapt to the trend or continue to write what you know best. In fact, there are actually people who write just as they always have, just using the Internet. Those authors who choose to adapt to the changing times in the writing of their books can find the techniques that they need for writing effectively. Those who learn from others have better chances of being successful, so that is the ideal approach to take. Yes, technology is changing authors, but we will continue to enjoy the book we love until the time that technology changes everything else. The best authors realize that technology will change us, but the best ones also realize that the needs of readers will change as well. If authors succeed in understanding the need for readers, then their books will thrive as well. They must also understand the marketing strategies that will win them loyal readers who will become future readers. Readers want action, excitement, and suspense. They also want to relate to the characters and see the story become real. We often forget that the reader's experience is very different from our own. It is only in writing that time exists. No matter how wonderful the technology may be, we cannot avoid time and inevitable compromises that come with it. In fact, technology will make us better writers, too. As author Steven King points out, "Literature will be a lot like the computer age -- today, tomorrow, and forever." Authors may not have been wrong in believing that technology can change books, but they are right when they acknowledge that there will be time, creativity, and compromise that make for success. A well-crafted book may continue to be popular long after the technology has changed the world, but readers still want something tangible to hold onto, to touch, and to hold on to for a lifetime.

The sad reality is that there are so many authors who have written their own articles and sent them to the article directories, and there are a few who don't. The article directories let these people off the hook by not letting them know that they are marketing a book or writing an e-book. While it is true that some of the humans who create and distribute articles aren't generally aware of what the whole concept of the internet is, there are some human beings who are aware of it, but some may not be able to do so because of some other responsibilities. In either case, they should really take a look at what the computer can do for them. I believe that it is certainly going to change authors. I believe that the trend of technology changing is still going to evolve. What happens now will happen then, and then again, and then again. In fact, it may be similar to what has happened to the printing press and its effects. In the old days, in times gone by, there would be a time when one book was published and there would be a time when another book was published. There would be a period when one book was out and another book was released. And in the meantime, there would be a time when a third book would come out and would be followed by the fourth, and so on. So, it is obvious that the future of technology changes the world in such a way that things don't stop. Things will continue to change, as always, and perhaps even accelerate with ever greater changes as the technology evolves. How so? Simple, things will be more convenient, and the industry will become more technologically advanced, because of computers. For example, if I write a book, and I want my readers need to download the book to their computers, then I will most likely need to make the book available through the internet. Once downloaded, the reader will be able to access the information and do as he or she wishes with it. From there, you will want them to go on to the next book, and so on. Therefore, as the Internet becomes more popular, we can expect the demand for books to increase. Technology will affect authors who are still writing books but want to change the way they do it. In fact, I think that this is very likely in the future. Authors who write and publish books now might be surprised when they discover that they can make money by creating the information for books that will be distributed online. Indeed, one of the reasons why I write is because I like to share the information that I use. It is always a good idea to offer information, because some people have a great deal of trouble finding information. It is therefore an advantage to have your information out there, because you will be able to make money by selling the information, whether it is useful or not.

Is it possible to write a book that is so technically precise that it will not be readable by the general public? This could be a step in the right direction for writers and authors, but I have some reservations about this approach. The thing is, I think all authors would love to know that their work is so widely read that it was translated into Russian or Chinese or Portuguese in the future. In fact, it's far easier for me to sell books online if they have a high page rank, or a Google or Yahoo! advertisement attached to them. The way I see it, if I write a book that's good enough to be translated and distributed, my goal of earning more money would have been accomplished. That's great, and it makes me feel a little better about my writing ability. But when I'm writing science fiction books, there's a pretty high chance that readers will eventually view my work in the same light as those science fiction books, which are known for being "translated" from their original languages. You know, I'd like to think that I'm the next Isaac Asimov. So what do you do when your work is translated into French, Italian, or Spanish or whatever? Do you just cut out the part about your name and place it somewhere else? What if you have to leave your name out entirely? What if you have to change the names of your characters to be more appropriate with their new country of residence? Or do you rewrite the entire manuscript, but leave the original text intact? You know, just to be safe? If you have a bottom line, a business plan and a few other details set down before you start the project, you should be able to answer the question, "Can Technology End Authors?" with a "yes." However, if you are running into a "no," perhaps you need to think about other options. I've always liked the words of Victor Hugo, who said, "I try to make fiction and truth work together like the two wings of a butterfly in flight." Well, it would appear to me that technology has made the very air we breathe a butterfly. For all we know, they may have wings already. Indeed, if this were so, the writers and authors of the future may indeed be living to see the day when their work could someday be called "translated." After all, even today, many authors don't want their work translated because they would rather be known for what they did and how they did it. But these technological advances are only going to speed up. Eventually, people will look at a novel written twenty years ago as antiquated, but only in comparison to today's best works of fiction and nonfiction. So the answer to the question, "Can Technology End Authors?" will probably have to be, "We'll see."

Will Technology End Authors? The answer is probably no, because there are always new authors and their books will always be available. And if you're just now thinking about starting a blog or website then there are ways to get it started quickly, cheaply and without much effort. It's not a good idea to start off with a blog that you can't monetize. This is very expensive and if you're going to do this you need to have a large subscriber base, which I'm not suggesting you do if you want to keep your profit margin high. If you're able to make some money on the first few months, you'll then be ready to move on to other things. Blogs can only be monetized if you have a lot of traffic, which you don't. A blog is useless if no one comes to visit it, and that's where your traffic will come from. Your readers will most likely click on your link if they like what you have to say, or if they've found something they like. If you set up a website then there's an even better idea to make it an author site. People who browse the web regularly will be attracted to your products or services, and will visit your site and buy your products. The best part of this is that they won't know that you're an author at all. They just think you're some good guy who wants to sell some stuff to them. You can put up a very simple and inexpensive blog to promote your product or services and use it as a niche site. You can do this all on your own. Then you can sell the products and services and generate the revenue that you need. You just don't have to use your own product, since the software is available. My suggestion is to start using something called Blogger, which has been used successfully by many authors. It's a free service that you pay for to be able to use it for a few years. I started using it and I loved it, so I recommended it to my own website and I recommend it to yours. It's a great way to advertise your blog and the products you offer and can help build your mailing list, which you'll need to get your products or services out there. For example, if you're running a book promotion or other eBook site then you need to have a mailing list to promote your products and make money. You can create a blog, which looks like a sales page for your products, and include your company name and contact details. You can include a link to your product, or the item you're promoting. These are usually called Amazon Affiliate links and are found on your sales page. Once you've got a few products or services listed in your blog, you'll probably get a lot of sales, since you're going to get the link to your site. That will attract your reader and get them to your products. They may just buy the product right then and there and see your blog as their gateway to your products. When you get a lot of new visitors your income will grow. Then you'll have the cash you need to buy a domain name, set up your blog and start making some income. Starting a blog or website with little money is a good idea for any beginner. Start up costs can be kept to a minimum, and you can start with your own site. There's no time like the present to start up your own website or blog, and before you know it you'll be making money from it.

How will technology replace authors? Is this a movie script that should be written by a Hollywood writer? Will technology also replace authors? It's actually becoming more common to hear such questions. We are living in an age of rapid change at its most dramatic. As you probably know, we have always been a consumer driven society but now that technology has made the world smaller, it seems like the consumer demands the same from authors. Indeed, what would happen if technology was to replace authors could no longer write novels? As we continue to evolve as writers and as technology advances, we can expect future writers to look for a change. Novels will become more complicated with more moving parts, thus making it more difficult to follow the plot. On top of that, the publishing industry has never given writers a great deal of respect. First they write something that doesn't sell and then they complain that it does. Authors are usually punished by being put in a warehouse somewhere while someone else's book sells well, simply because the publisher likes their book and thought it had something to offer. If the same story can't sell, there's not much that can be done. Now, in our changing times and technology is changing fast, we must expect some big changes. The first and foremost thing to do is to get educated and familiarize yourself with what the newest advances in technology are and how they may affect you. Once you have done that, you can start to prepare for any technological problems that might arise. You can also find out what is being published on the internet and how that compares to other sources of information. The next step is to decide which book review site you want to go with. If you want the author to get the book reviews, that is an advantage for you. But if you want to know the pros and cons of books, books reviews can provide you with that. A lot of people are turning to digital books because they can quickly download them. They don't have to leave the house and they don't have to worry about going through the paper versions. The downside to digital books is that sometimes you can't access them when you want to. But still, digital books still have some advantages over the hard copy authors. On the down side, the book's creator can make changes to the book. If you have to print the book yourself, and you're in a hurry, that may be an option. If the book is done to your specifications, it can save you a lot of time. Also, if you choose to go with digital books, you'll need to remember to be patient because it takes a lot of time to create an eBook. If you're not in a hurry, if you want to help the author and if you can afford to be slow, that is an option as well. In fact, you might even find a reader who will be willing to help you. No matter what you do, you can't forget that authors will continue to exist in the same old model in which they control the print book. But, what they can do is to decide what the format of their stories will be.

Over the past decade, the idea of a book publisher replacing an author has become commonplace. Some authors welcome the idea. Others don't want to go to such lengths as this and would rather keep the writer in the writers' corner. Social media has helped promote the idea that consumers want to know what their favourite authors are up to. At one time, I used to make a joke about a "Duluth" author or an Ontario "Ontario" author. People would look at me like I was crazy. Now, there is a class of author who does not want to give up all of their intellectual property to a book publisher. They also don't want to work with an author who does not appreciate them or their work. Some of the authors may have had bad experiences with other authors. They may have even seen the author's sales plummet. They may feel that the author has taken a hard turn in their writing style. Or they may feel that the author was dishonest with them, giving them false promises of a super success story. Even though these people might love and respect the books that they write, they do not want to put up with the authors who neglect them and never say thank you for their books. The other problem is that some authors feel that the publishers are even cheating them, as they want to leave behind money but don't want to pay an author for their work. The idea of a book publisher replacing an author may seem wrong. In my experience, people can be very mean, and in a matter of days, a book can lose an entire season of television advertising, leaving the book holding the bag, and a person to write a book on shoestring budgets. The customers may still buy the books and watch the programs that the author promised. There are books that many people may read who are not necessarily in the marketplace, but the person who writes the book may be a hot topic in some fashion. I always thought that it made sense to give back to the reader. If the author was good enough to be a high-profile novelist, they should be able to find a publisher who could give them a nice chunk of change for a book. Then it dawned on me that the only way for the author to get their book out to the public, is to have a well-written book to sell. If the authors were so good that the publishers wanted them to be in the books, then why wouldn't they want to be in the books? Why would an author want to leave money on the table? Why would an author want to add another variable onto the equation? Then I thought of it was silly. A book publisher is just buying back your work, as if the books were never published. My point is that, this is wrong. You can give back to the readers, by giving them a return on their investment of time and money. So, this is where technology and new ways of doing things can come in. As long as you do not break the rules or do anything illegal, this should be OK. The publisher is simply buying your book back from you. The same way you get paid for every day that you have your job, so too can a publisher get paid for every day that you sell your book. If you sell more books, you get paid more money.

It's no secret that authors are going through some very rough times. And, more to the point, they're losing money. Before you blame it on the economy or technology, ask yourself why you're not making more money with your e-book. (Or any other product.) How did you get here? A business of e-books, but an eBook business, are no different than any other. It's about selling. If your product is selling well, you're doing something right. So, what is it that you need to do to make more money? There's an old saying that there's a wealth of money in failure but not success. And that holds true when it comes to e-books. If you go into e-book marketing with the right attitude, you will be one of the many winners in this industry. One of the first things you should consider is taking care of yourself. No one is going to want to purchase your e-book if you don't have enough time for yourself. But if you take care of yourself and work hard, you'll be amazed at how much money you make with your e-book. You should start an e-mail (or perhaps a blog) for yourself and post it to a daily basis. Add some videos to your blog if you feel comfortable. There are many ways to show yourself off in the blogosphere. It may not be the best idea to post on your blog about how good your book is. But, posting a daily newsletter with some of your recent posts and some positive comments, or a link to a friend's blog where you've commented or posted, can be a nice way to share your products and your talents. And it's an excellent way to build relationships. A good list is the lifeblood of every business. As a business owner, the one thing you have in abundance is relationships. They give your product or service a positive aura, that draws customers to you. To the extent that you are an online business owner, the one thing you need to keep in mind is that you are your customer's first line of defense. You need to respond as quickly as possible to your customers' needs and complaints. And to market effectively, you must do so effectively. Because your customers want to know why you gave them the product or service, you need to provide that information in your sales letter, website, blog, etc. A sales letter written by the sales person who should be dealing with the customers is a poor reflection of your position as an author. You must respond to your customers quickly. You also need to do a better job of keeping that relationship alive. E-book marketing is not all that complicated, and it doesn't take an expensive book or training course to do it. For writers or entrepreneurs looking to get started in e-book marketing, this is just the beginning.
