somehow someone else has my phone number on their nhs file which means I've been getting all their communications for TWO YEARS. apparently they have a therapy appointment on monday so I sure hope they've got that written down somewhere since I'm the one getting texts about it
#the weirdest thing is they're local to my area too so it started when i was away at uni and got a phone call from my local hospital#and i freaked out thinking someone in my family was there but it turned out they were trying to call this other person#so i explained at the time it was the wrong number#but clearly the message did not get passed on#because since then I've had various vaccine reminder texts and prescription collection reminders#i tried contacting the pharmacy and the gp practice to be like 'please tell this person when you see them they have the wrong number down'#but nobody is listening so every so often i get told about this stranger's medical information#and it's always referring to the same hospitals and services that i would use because they live nearby#it's all very disconcerting#talking

does anyone know where I can get a good portable charger? if I get from from amazon or smth is it gonna blow up?? should I just go to best buy?

#that was my online order confirmation from the dispensary btw don't @ me#i wonder if some dispensary employee could see that. probably not but idk how these automated text services work#anyway im gonna have to look at the manual and figure out how to turn that shit off#because miss sentra cannot be sending text messages without my knowledge or consent#it also beeps at me to tell me it's cold outside?????#like it was 32° this morning and there was a chime and a little message on my dash saying “warning: cold outside”#like.... yeah i had to walk through the outside to get to the car i know that buddy 😭#so i gotta turn that off too im not dealing with that for an entire winter in chicago lmfao#but this is just fucking hilarious how did it even do this without me noticing#bri babbles

I don't remember what stuff I downloaded or what settings I disabled but I don't get any of those tumblr notifications 😆
Ooh, that sounds ideal tbh :'D I could get used to following more people if I wasn't constantly reminded how many posts I haven't seen. And my God, I wish I figured out how to get this on my phone - I have ALL notifications off but no matter how many tutorials I go through, I cannot get rid of those tiny little numbers next to the app icons. Not just for Tumblr but for everything, I don't want to see how many unread e-mails I have, how many messages I haven't checked, I want to check all these things on my terms at time of my choosing, will we be ever free from these constant reminders how avoidant we've become due to the hyperconectivity of our time-

I'm finally catching up with my voicemail messages and marveling about the generation gap with my parent's generation. like, if there is time-critical information you want me to know, please don't put it in a voicemail. I'm not going to get it any time soon unless you text it to me, because i just don't check my voicemail all that regularly. hmm maybe this isn't a generation thing, maybe its just a personal i-hate-voicemail thing. anyway

Voicemail isn't even an effective communication tool anymore.
I just checked my voicemail and I had 23 new messages. Only 3 of them were from actual human beings, not automated messages. Those 3 humans were also cold-calls from a business, so not a single important message.
The 20 automated messages were pretty evenly split between the pharmacy and my kid's school, both of which I receive texts from AT THE SAME NUMBER.
And, honestly, on any given day, I've got 20+ unread automated texts from the school, businesses, and political organizations/programs.
Traditional cell phone communication (calls, voicemail, and texts) has gone the way of snail mail and email--it's just a repository for spam.
#I almost exclusively receive personal texts thru an online messaging service or social media like WhatsApp#I often miss personal texts to my phone number if they're not from one of my pinned contacts#Because they get buried under the spam#i'm so tired#capitalism ruins everything

incredible that the zillow app does not have a messages tab even though it has a messaging function
#literally. they are messaging me and the only way i find out is that i also get a text with#a frankly very suspicious line abt how i got a message and to reply here click this link#and i can’t reply to the text itself because its. yknow. just an automated system#so i click the link and it takes me to my web browser instead of the actual app#because this page does not exist on the app i guess. even tho i cannot stress enough. it is a service they provide#unusable if you’re not on desktop i guess#i hate it here#mine
