Earnestness is a lost art in media these days. The things that stick around the best are things made not out of reaction to other things but instead made with such a love for what themselves are that nothing else matters.
It’s a shame that Dan Povenmire, the man who made one of the most earnest cartoon of the 2000’s, seems so entirely burned out and jaded regarding his own work. Milo Murphys Law had every reason to succeed. It had a weak start but so did PnF in retrospect, it could’ve been something! But Dan and Swampy were so scared of what it meant to move on that they backed into a corner and made their third Doofenshmirtz back door pilot out of an entirely new property.
And now that Hamster and Gretel has finished its first season it’s tragic to see that the love that was once there seems to be gone. There’s no earnestness in the ideas anymore, no punch drunk love for the craft. It’s just a shell of a dream and a character awkwardly pulling at their collar going “well…THAT just happened”. What happened to love? What happened to bold and passionate care for the thing you a,e and letting whatever comes of it come of it?
…oh yeah it’s all in The Ghost and Molly McGee now WHOOPS ANYWAYS THIS HAS BEEN A PSA TO WATCH TGAMM ITS SO GOOD

Were you aware of Dana Snyder before TGAMM? If so, what was your favorite role of his before? I adore him of course as Shake, but also Gazpacho, my intro to him, that evil rabbit from that dumb Nickcom, and in the underrated as fuck Nicktoon Welcome to the Wayne.
I actually was aware of him but in a much less familiar way. ATHF has been on my radar for a while given it was frequently used in the animation community for memes and such so I was quite familiar with it and recognized his voice when I watched the TGAMM pilot. And I swear I've heard his voice in smaller roles, just not the ones you mentioned here (apparently he played a Gremlin in Epic Mickey 2 and it was a massive shock to find that out recently)
So yes, I did know of him before Scratch, I just didn't have quite as much of an extensive knowledge of him as I do now lol

Main differences between the pilot and The (Un)Natural
-The episode started with a very similar intro to the one Scratch has in The Curse episode (eating from garbage and being mocked by the Ghost Council) -Scratch gets called ¨the worst of the worst¨ a few times during the episode -Andrea was the antagonist in the pilot. Not Tammy. This has to do with how Andrea was originally intended to be a meaner character until it was suggested to give her more depth. -The reason of why Scratch defended Molly and used his powers is because Andrea (Tammy) called Molly the ¨worst of the worst¨. He scares Andrea again when she calls Molly the same thing at the end of the episode. -Scratch almost got send to the Flow of Failed Phantoms in the pilot. This doesn't happen in The (Un) Natural. -Molly sings the ¨softball song¨, something that had been shared by Bill Motz back when Season 1 aired. -The Ghost Council used to be three members, not four in contrast to the main show. -Libby had a different voice actor -Scratch repeated the ¨everyone deserves a chance to succeed¨ from Molly to convince the Ghost Council to not throw him into the Flow.

Do you think we’ll ever find the pilot to TGAMM?
It could happen but those things are usually shelved in companies/behind productions stuff

Tgamm Inklusion Comics Live Stream Summary
Bill Motz and Bob Roth brieftly talk about the concept of the show
The main influence for the show besides their friendship, was Ashly Burch and her Thai heritage. Thai culture was important for show’s development such as how ghost are seen and when it came to choosing the voice cast for Molly’sfamily.
There is an upcoming episode about a Thai festival that honors ghosts with food
They looked for writers who could help with the Thai culture as well as other culture references.
The individual stories for the episodes are created first and then the songs, which are called ¨song bursts¨ by the Tgamm crew.
Gramnda Nin’s theme is based of traditional Thai music
They talk about the side characters and how they came to be. They talk about Libby’s character concept.
Andrea was supposed to be ¨Tammy¨ in the original pilot. She was an antagonist. They later received feedback and decided to make her a more complex character.
They show a plush of a tiny ghost character that’s going to appear in the future episodes (image below)
Bob Roth mentions how he is a fan of Star Wars and an adult comic series called sagas. Bill Motz brings up an artist called Waysingleton.
They talk about how they balance between the creepy elements in the show with the lighthearted parts.
