Reading someone's commentary on Revelation 14 like: wow! this is way more fucked up than I remembered! It makes sense that Christians don't balk at violence in media but will throw a fit if a tit is out of place.

Like look at this???

"So the angel thrust his sickle into the earth and gathered the vine of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. And the winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood came out of the winepress, up to the horses' bridles, for one thousand six hundred furlongs" (Revelation 14:19-20).

(that's 184 miles of (at least) waist deep human blood btw)

And this is a good thing. Christians celebrate this. This is victory day. From the commentary:

"This is God's great victory over sin and Satan--a preparation for the establishment of His kingdom of earth, described also in Revelation 19:15."

IT'S NOT SATAN'S BLOOD. IT'S NOT SIN'S BLOOD. PEOPLE ARE DYING IN A NIGHTMARE SCENARIO.

So ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE, when the world ends a few hellish beasts will roam the earth and one of the most fascinating is the 'Beast from the sea':

"Rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy." (Revelation 13:1) It was like a leopard, with feet like the feet of a bear, and had a mouth like a lion. One of its heads had a mortal wound which healed itself, causing people to wonder at it and follow it. (Revelation 13:1–10)".

I've seen some really fantastic depictions, but few represent the 'mortally wounded head that healed itself' so I gave that a go.

Thought: With how accessible Blender is these days, making it really easy to do 90s-level CGI, you could theoretically make a Veggie Tales adaptation of The Book of Revelation as a fan project with relative ease.

Which, of course, I want to see. Like, not even as a shitpost joke-y thing, but as something sincere done by someone who loves the series, because those always end up so much more interesting and weird.

I want to see someone animate the Whorseradish Of Babylon on the back of the Great Beet. I want to see the Four Horseveg Of The A-slaw-calypse.

I want to see Bob and Larry kiss as end is nigh and the stars fall from the face of heaven.

This is actually the one of the only truly terrifying depiction of the Dragon among those Michael defeating the Dragon pictures because it looks like a giant, winged, probably fire breathing version of that creepy proto-dolphin.

(also the angels demonstrate why it's much smarter to use bows and long spears when fighting a dragon, those knights with their swords could use the advice instead of going into the roasting proximity)
