From Durian Culture Production this was suposed to be an A/B/O. Gui Ming who swaps consciousness with himself in a parallel universe. In that universe he is married to his rival Shi Youtian.

Desire the series

Another one that was supposed to be A/B/O The story of Bai Lan, a young man who wants Mr. Shen, a proud alpha, to be his omega. According to the casting announcement ‘Desire’ will consist of 24 episodes with 45 minutes runtime per episode.

Boys Love Omegaverse (Boys Love Sequel)

Announced for 6/9/2023 but never aired. This seems to just be borrowing the branding and have nothing to do with either BL originals since it's about 4 men in an idol group.

Given the series (remake)

Fuji TV announced and episodic series focuses on Ritsuka as he rediscovers his love for music thanks to Mafuyu. Given the Movie focused on their bandmates, Akihiko-Haruki, and their tumultuous relationship. The storyline for this second film involves Ritsuka temporarily joining Hiiragi and Shizusumi’s band, and the tension that brings to his new relationship with Mafuyu. It will also delve into the relationship between Hiiragi and Shizusumi.

Silkwood and Be On Cloud partnered for this. ‘Wuju Bakery’ was originally scheduled to be released in 2024, but changes in the production house’ schedule showed that it would air sooner in November 2023, and then it didn't. The drama stars Thai actors Jeff Satur and Barcode Tinnasit and Korean actors Dion and Jun In-Kyu (Q) About a spaceship that crash-lands into and destroys a bakery shop. Of course this means the alien and the baker end up living together. At the same time, other aliens-in-hiding all around the city start hunting for them. One of my most anticipated BLs. It sounds SO WEIRD.

Ram has a hard time fitting in with the high society students that populate the school because he didn’t grow up in a life of privilege. Luckily he has Q to protect him during these trying times.

Mdm Ling Bakery came up with not one, not two but three mooncake bags to bring the goodies home or as gifts for colleagues, friends and relatives. Their bucket bag came in Moon Yellow and Minty Rose colours while the Tote of Harmony bag featured shade of fuchsia.

Many hotels, restaurants and bakeries incorporated durian into their mooncakes but Gin Thye Cake Maker (锦泰西果饼家) went one step further. Letting you bring them home in a thorny king of fruits (if I may call it a) box for their Royal Durian Bliss Charcoal Snowskin Mooncake.

But if you are not parting with that much spare cash, how about getting these Piglet Mooncakes for only a few dollars each. Heard over the radio that the estimated cost of ingredients for mooncakes is about S$4 according to a chef and they are selling us a box for like close to S$100!!! I know you have to factor in the packaging and marketing cost but it is still a lot of monies to pay for four big or eight mini pieces of mooncakes with fancy packaging. Moreover, the mooncakes had shrunk in sizes, yet selling at a higher price point.

August Baking Studio is offering their very own series of Teochew Mooncakes with yolk or mochi. These flaking and crispy desserts featured traditional white lotus, taro and red bean fillings to more exotic flavours like matcha, oolong and even tiramisu.

animals? theyre usually the ones who make the world function by doing jobs (squirrels are toy workers, eagles and rats are security, owls and cats are teachers)

non-bakery foods? (ex: that triangle cheese character in the fashion events, coconuts, durians) are allowed to have nonessential occupations, but cookies have no interest being too associated

cakes? oh what the fuck those are monsters to cookies, they deserve to be in hell and are an abomination to society and are the most evil thhings to ever exist because theyre beasts unless they have the ability to speak clearly and be bipedal and not make cake noises even though cakes are made of similar ingredients to cookies but the ratios are different

nonsweet cookies? theyre on thin fucking ice in the cookie world and there have been constant moments where they often talk about that their dough shouldnt matter but apparently sweet cookies love to use dough flavour as a way of proving what a cookies personality is

hi sola! happy sleepover saturday! i have two asks for you today - following up on last week, i got to go to a vietnamese restaurant this week and it was really good, i had noodles and beef and vegetables :) there was also a big vietnamese grocery so i was wondering if you had recommendations for easy things to cook or snack foods that you like that i could look for? i always love when you talk about food you make everything sound really good

prepped foods (savory) - a lot of viet groceries i know have some kind of deli/bakery section, ymmv. banh bao (steamed pork buns) were an easy breakfast when i lived by a viet grocery - check labels, bc the traditional viet one has pork and a whole boiled egg in it, more chinese styles have bbq pork. xoi (sticky rice) in lots of colors is also fun. if you like pastries, custard tarts, sesame balls (literally a round ball studded with sesame seeds), or pate chaud (flaky pastry meat pies, usually round) are also good!

drinks (sweet) - mogu mogu is juice with chewy agar-like jelly in it; guava and coconut are my favorite flavors, and it's great if you like boba! also a big fan of calpico, a hi-chew-like milky drink (i like mango)!

snacks (savory) - shrimp chips, calbee or nongshim brand, are crunchy and french fry shaped. if you're not into fishy flavors, they might have hot garlic or lemon pepper flavors, but the og is shrimp and it's probably my favorite food. senbei (japanese crackers) are "not too sweet" and a little salty - want want is a brand with lots of different types.

snacks (sweet) - PIA CAKES these are like the quintessential viet snack food export. they're little round cakes with usually a fruit filling. i like the durian flavor lol but red bean and taro are also good!

visited the itsy bitsy teenie weenie super mini thingy exhibition with rin2 yesterday~ i didn't even know that there was a miniature exhibition in sg until she showed me a tiktok of it. O: it was their second last day and i wasn't expecting a huge crowd bc it didn't seem to have gotten a lot of publicity bUT there were so many ppl in line trying to get in when we went at around 3 pm?? the gallery area was only a small room tho so the queue moved pretty quickly and we were inside in no time.

my favs were the coffeeshop diorama, tomato car and the mini pixel fastfood tvs!! everything was for sale but they were way over my budget so i could only appreciate them with my eyes.

kinda wanna get the linen/room mists from the wicker club. especially the fresh duck (refreshing) and sugar baby (very sweet, like candy) scents. clown moment when i confidently sprayed the samples onto my arm thinking they were perfumes bc i didn't think to read the descriptions first. 🤡

before we went to the exhibition, we had a lunch at madu the bakery cafe which was, very coincidentally, just two shophouses away from where the exhibition was being held. we wanted to take a bus over bc the sun was being a deadly laser but we couldn't get on the bus and the next one was going to be another 16++ min wait so we decided to walk instead. it wasn't a long walk over bUT tHE sUn....

it was lucky for us that a table for two just got vacated when we arrived at the cafe. super glad that the cafe provided unlimited refills of plain water at no extra cost but i did also order myself an iced lychee jasmine tea. mmmm rly needed that icy cold drink after being baked by the sun.

got their breakfast bun, kaya butter shio pan and muah chee roll cake to share!! the potato salad inside the breakfast bun had just the right amount of flavour. the egg was still runny and not completely cooked through, which was also a plus point. the shio pan wasn't salty but the texture was good and you can't go wrong with kaya butter!! we left it out for a while so it got a bit tough to bite through but still good!! finished off our meal with a sweet, fluffy, peanut-y muah chee roll cake. it's not bad but i think they should put more muah chee in it.

i had dinner at my grandma's house. it was my uncle and his family's last day in sg before they return back home to the US so my grandma prepared a feast!! got to eat durians yay!!

i also interacted with my baby cousins for the first time?? i did meet them a few weeks ago but we didn't talk... one of them kept staring at me. ngl i sCAREd. anyway, it turns out that they're actually rly cute. they wanted me to roast them but my brain was gone so i gave them a joe mama joke instead.

man,, i wonder when they'll be back to visit again. alternatively we could all go visit them in the US!! i wanna see what a big, multi-storeyed house looks like.

Review: Shortstop

Before you even make it to you apartment in Melbourne, you have been told by many to check-out Shortstop, known for their doughnuts. You eventually make that shortstop with your flatmate while running errands.

A little shop tucked in an alley beside a rainbow toastie shop, Shortstop can be a little hard to find if you are unfamiliar with the place and Google Maps. You soon enter a typical Australian bakery/café set-up of wood and glass with friendly staff.

This place gives you two things – Coffee and Doughnuts. You and your flatmate mull over which to try. You are very tempted by the crueller (which you suppose is closer to churros than doughnuts) and a crème brulee doughnut. Alors! They both have coffee!!! You sigh and ask the staff what does not have coffee because it gives you very bad migraines and the two you wanted has them…

The waiter tells you the matcha is a best seller but he reads your expression of “uh..not matcha again”. To put it on record, you have nothing against matcha. You love matcha, but generally like durians you prefer your matcha as a drink rather than as a flavour for food. Very few make matcha flavoured food that has the richness and yes, bitterness of matcha. Too many dampen the complexity of matcha with white chocolate etc.

Thankfully, he introduces you to others that you feel sounds good – Maple and Granola, Apple and caramel. Your flatmate picks up two herself, including the crueller.

What’s the verdict? Worth the visit

Service: amazing, kudos to the team for being patient and helpful. But also, for holding themselves to high standards and having the integrity to admit the crueller was a little overcooked AND hence it was free! They could have quietly palmed it off since it wasn’t burned just a tad over perfection, but they did not. You naturally hold hope, that this is the sort of shop where no matter how many years later when you make a quick stop, it would taste great.

Taste: The maple and granola were nice and light without being dry. For a doughnut it wasn’t overly sweet. Lightly brushed maple and crispy granola for added texture, this is one for those who love sweet but not cloying. The caramel apple was a little sweeter and denser, it stayed moist even 2 days later.

Price: between $4.50 – 7. (Seems to be the going rate for anything really)

Favourite fruit: in sheer quantity = probably avocado, tomato, for mouth feel = the lowly blueberry, I love it but I gotta be careful = cherries, and it just makes me happy and I can eat it all day = papaya and watermelon 

Favourite vegetable: Cucumber, spinach (and other leafy greens), garlic, onion, chili pepper 

Fruits you absolutely can’t stand: durian - it’s the only fresh fruit I actually will never give a second chance to 

Vegetables you loathe: none, I’m mostly vegetarian for no other reason than I adore vegetables 

Food you couldn’t eat in the past/when you were a child, you can eat now: none, I wasn’t wild about spinach or sprouts but we lived off the land, you ate what you grew and farmed, it’s that or nothing 

Food you started to dislike as you grew up: there is pretty much nothing I won’t eat, even durian I’ll try in cooked, fried, chipped, or candied 

What would you eat as your last supper? a chili verde street taco from my local Mexican hole in the wall, mushroom sundubu jjigae (Korean soft tofu stew), roasted duck from the farm-to-table place in the Embassy district of Paris, a bougatsa from that Greek bakery I found in Edinburgh, passion fruit fool. What? Try to stop me! 

THE BL VERSION

1. Fruit that surprised me in BL: cherry tomatoes as the fruit special honoring (Taiwan - We Best Love), of course it makes sense, they’re a fruit, but it was just amusing to see something so mundane to me show up in pride of place like that. 

2. BL made me eat it - Vegetable: Thai water spinach (turns out it’s a kind of cress) I had to get the seeds and grow it in order to eat it (I think it was in one of those TayNew Eat The World specials) 

3. BL made me eat it - Fruit: none actually, I’m usually familiar with what they’re eating, but I do want to learn how to peal fruit “properly” since it’s such a “thing” in Cdramas 

4. BL made me eat it - Savory dish: Khai Palo (Thailand - Enchante), it’s yummy and way more Chinese influenced flavor profile that I was expecting, full of 5 spice 

5. BL made me eat it - Sweet dish: hawthorne candy (China - Addicted), I’ve only found a pre packaged candy version so far, it’s hella sweet 

6. BL made me drink it: Pink milk (Thailand - SOTUS), OMG no, way too sweet

JoMi Cake, 713 W Duarte Rd, Arcadia, CA 91007

JoMi Cake is a Chinese/Asian cake bakery but they specialize in lower fat, lower sugar versions of cake. They’re located inside Duke Bakery. The options are limited to several kinds of mille crepe cake (sold by the slice, about $10 per slice), half-baked cheesecake, bobo cups, and cake rolls. Whole cakes must be ordered in advance. A whole mille crepe cake is about $100. The menu is in English and Chinese.

Earl grey mille crepe cake slice ($10): They taped a clear plastic sheet around the slice. It’s hard to remove without ruining the look of the frosting. I think there are fewer layers of crepe and cream than Lady M and the layers aren’t as even in height. The crepe and the cream aren’t as tasty as Lady M but I did taste the Earl grey and the cake wasn’t too sweet. The crepe didn’t have much flavor – the cream is really the star. Maybe it wasn’t as tasty because it was lower in fat? The cream wasn’t as creamy as Lady M's.

They have Asian flavored cakes like salted egg yolk, taro, osmanthus, pandan, and durian. Service was friendly. Prices are as high as Lady M’s. JoMi Cake does have a nice bag but the cakes aren’t as good as Lady M’s. There is no seating inside the shop and cakes should be consumed immediately or put in the refrigerator.

That’s why, we should eat more durian, moderately. But what if you’re a dessert lover too? That’s where The Durian Bakery comes in. The Durian Bakery only uses premium ingredients and the best recipes to create scrumptious pastries that have you craving for more.

Additionally, they only use no-calorie sugar instead of regular white sugar. These no-calorie sweeteners are able to give the pastries the sweetness they need without increasing the glycemic effects on one’s blood sugar. The best part is, zero-calories. Finally, a pastry line where you can eat and not gain weight!

Unlike most bakeries that only use leftover, un-sellable durians that are not fresh, The Durian Bakery uses fresh durians in their pastries. These durians are delivered straight from the plantation in Pahang Malaysia.

Luckily, I was able to remember my father’s birthday before hand and gotten free delivery. But, that’s not the point. The point is we are here for some durian reviews and we will be reviewing two main things today: 

The Signature Pastries Taster Bundle that contains Dark Choco Musang King Mousse, Snowy D24 Durian Cream Puff, and Snowy D24 Durian Mochi

My father’s birthday cake - Dark Chocolate Musang King Durian Mille Crepe Cake

We will start with the bundle.

Dark Choco Musang King Mousse

The Dark Chocolate Musang King Mousse is what one would call the chocolate dome of goodness. Standing at 6cm wide, the dome is made out of 100% dark chocolate which cacao beans were specially imported from Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). 

Once you dip your spoon into the mousse, you’ll find 2 layers: 

Signature SilkyGold Puree

100% MSW Molten Core

Right at the bottom, you’ll find a layer of hazelnut palette feuilletine supporting the dome. 

What makes this mousse really fancy is the edible 24k gold dust shimmered on the top of the dome. Although gold is known to not have any taste, it is also known to make anything look luxurious, so consider this mousse a luxury.

There are 2 ways to eat this dessert: 

For cooler days: Thaw for 40 to 50 minutes before consumption - you’ll be able to taste the chocolate, signature puree and durian molten core all at once without creating a mess.

For hotter days: Thaw for 20 minutes before consumption - the chocolate shell will still be hard but the molten core will be soft, like ice cream.

Dark Choco Musang King Mousse Review

Upon the first bite, I was able to detect the sweet MSW molten core among the bitterness of the dark chocolate. The creamy SilkyGold Puree melted in my mouth as my taste buds tried to get a sense of the unusual flavours that were dancing in my mouth.

Oddly enough, the bitterness of the dark chocolate, sweet fragrance of the molten core and sweetness of the signature puree complimented each other perfectly.

However, what put this dessert over the top is the crunchy hazelnut palette feuilletine at the bottom, holding it all together. 

This is a dessert that one would normally get at an expensive restaurant at a much higher rate, a dessert that you simply have to indulge in.

Snowy D24 Durian Cream Puff

If you love durian cream puffs, the renowned Snowy D24 Durian Cream Puff is the puff for you. Voted as one of the best durian puffs in Singapore, this cream puff contains no unethical artificial flavourings and it’s made of 100% natural ingredients. Even the puff shell is handmade from scratch.

Comes in a set of 12 cream puff, the 4.5cm pastry contains almost no cream at all. What? A cream puff without cream? That’s right. The “cream” in the puff is made of 95% D24 durian flesh and 5% cream. There is also no sugar in this puff.

Snowy D24 Durian Cream Puff Review

The airy shell of the puff does a great job in bracing your palette for the richness of the durian experience the moment you bite into it. The creamy durian core fills your mouth with its aroma, ensuring every inch of your mouth is covered in its scent. 

The creamy durian core burst through the airy shell of the puff, filling your mouth with a piece of heaven every time you bite into it, that is the kind of cream puff that you should be enjoying all the times.

Snowy D24 Durian Mochi

Inspired by the quality of mochis in Hokkaido, Japan, the Snowy D24 Durian Mochi is one of the most premium durian mochis you’ll ever taste in Singapore. This mochi not only consists of D24 durian flesh which was harvested from specifically cultivated old trees, but it also consists of a sophisticated philosophy.

The chef created this mochi after tasting over 1,000 types of mochi in Japan to understand the complex philosophy behind 100 years of Daifukumochi Craftsmanship. 

To create this exquisite mochi skin, the Mochigome (glutinous rice) goes through various processes that include being steamed, mashed and pounded with a wooden kine. All these processes could be seen the moment you pick the soft, dewy mochi up and nestle it in your mouth. 

Biting into the 3.5cm mochi will reveal a soft core filled with at least 90% D24 durian flesh, just like biting into a durian mochi ice cream. 

Snowy D24 Durian Mochi Review

The Snowy D24 Durian Mochi is the highlight among the Musang King Pastries Bundle. Its bouncy and insanely soft skin caresses your cheeks right before your teeth penetrate them, revealing a buttery, creamy texture. The velvety surprise fills your palettes with a bitter-sweet taste and before you know it, you’re reaching out for more. 

This mochi is not only addictive but it is one of the softest and best mochi’s I’ve tasted in Singapore. 

Dark Chocolate Musang King Durian Mille Crepe Cake

If you’re into crepe cakes, the Dark Chocolate Musang King Durian Mille Crepe Cake is a must-have for your birthday. With 39 layers - 20 layers of crepe skin and 19 layers of signature SilkyGold Puree - this crepe cake have a weigh of 1kg and could be sliced into 8 equal pieces.

This rich and creamy crepe cake is handmade fresh daily with a secrete batter recipe. The thin cocoa crepe skins are fried by hand - just imagine how much work to get 20 same-sized and same thickness crepes.

Aside from their signature SilkyGold Durian Puree, you can also find a pleasant surprise when you cut the cake. A layer of 100% A+ Pure MSW sits right in the middle of the cake. A surprise that’ll make any durian lover smile.

Right at the top is a layer of 100% pure dark cocoa as well.

Dark Chocolate Musang King Durian Mille Crepe Cake Review

The moment my taste buds meets the cake, I was able to taste the sweetness of the signature SilkyGold Puree and the bitterness of the cocoa. Despite having only 1 layer of pure MSW, I was still able to savour the complex flavour fully while it tickles my nostrils. Unlike other crepe cakes, the layers of this cake did not disintegrate the moment you cut or bite into it. 

The unusual combination of rich bitter chocolate and sweet durian taste still makes my jaw drop as I crave more cake. After this exposure, I’ve got to say, this is better than eating the raw fruit.

The Durian Bakery Review

The Durian Bakery provides premium pastries that will knock your socks off if you adore durians. Although I am not a huge fan of the durian fruit, I am a huge fan of the durian pastries from The Durian Bakery. The high-quality durian puree and fresh MSW added in its recipes is enough to make any durian lover ‘add to cart’.

On top of that, their cakes are of exceptional quality as well. If you are celebrating a birthday, there is an option for you to include birthday accessories (happy birthday topper, candle & knife) and even a personalised greeting card which they will handwrite for you.

My favourite is the Snowy D24 Durian Mochi which is not only soft and delectable but is filled with almost 100% of creamy durian flesh as well. 

Do note that since there are no preservatives in these pastries, that means, they’ll have a shorter shelf life. In fact, they are recommended to be consumed within the same day of delivery. However, if that is not possible, here are the recommended shelf life:

Cakes - Thawed (1 Day); Frozen (7 Days)

Pastries - Thawed (2 Days); Frozen (7 Days)

Mochi - Thawed (2 Days); Frozen (30 Days)

Also note, they are also not halal-certified as of now. Hopefully, they’ll be certified soon so everyone can try their scrumptious cakes!
