William is so insecure in the books and he doesn't even seem to realise. His inferiority complex relating to Henry and spreading through all areas of his life is like, his leading trait. Everything he does is just because of fear and the overwhelming need to proof something, even (or especially) to people who will never think more of him anyways. The way he flexes his skills in front of Charlie and her firends in the Silver Eyes, the need to show his tortured body as Springtrap in the Twisted Ones and his suffering and scientific prowess in The Fourth Closet. Jessica points that out blatantly and he dismisses her, event though she was on point. He wants to shock her so bad, he doesn't care for her pity, maybe, but he sure does want to see her and others be uncomfortable with the idea of him still being alive but in such agony. He is afraid of death but still so impossibly reckless with his body; he needs the attention so bad. Makes you think how he was acting around Henry; did Henry ever entertain his "faithful partner's" need for attention? He must have, seeing as William performed as Spring Bonnie. But he is also such a... wavy presence when it comes to Freddy's. How resentful he must have grown, spending long hours behind his small desk in his small office, filing papers while constantly thinking of Henry's inventions. How much better they were, what genius Henry was, all to waste. It must have been like watching a God using his power for puny magic tricks, while you remain a grey, unseen mass. How he must have reveled in being seen, in waking the most extreme of emotions. After all, he was even jealous of his last nearly-victim's fear; he wanted Jacob to fear him, not the animatronics, he was desperate for it. He was truly the biggest attention seeker of them all.

im personally a “william afton was a decent father and person but then something extremely tragic happened and it made him snap” truther. Idk about yall but it just feels right.
im not a big fan of “yeah he’s just a crazy man who went on a murder spree for shits and giggles” because it feels so lazy??
I see him as a guy who at one point had it all - a wonderful family and a growing business with his good buddy, and then someone died and it made him desperate to bring them back (whether that be CC, Elizabeth, or even potentially his former wife? I say this because in all of the Fazbear Frights books, there’s seemingly always a dead parent and atp it can’t just be a plot point for storytelling.) and in doing so, he became a killer.
I feel like people gloss over that he’s canonically afraid of dying because he knows that he’ll go to hell for his sins (The fourth closet). In experimenting with remnant and all that, he realized he could immortalize himself. The quest to bring back a loved one spiraled into him becoming a cold blooded killer who fears what consequences lie ahead when he dies.
-someone who has recently reread all of the novels and went through the games while writing an au.

So, in light of the FNAF movie novel having dialogue and character differences and such from the movie itself (ex, swapping the Bonnie and Chica kids, Garrett showing up in the Pizzeria, different dialogue), in terms of continuities we have:
The games
The novel trilogy
The novel trilogy graphic novels
The movie
The movie novel
And depending on interpretation, at least one of:
Fazbear Frights
Fazbear Frights graphic novels
Tales from the Pizzaplex
So there are 6-8 canon FNAF continuities lol

I will defend Henry Emily until the day I die. Every time I see anyone condemning Henry, they are almost always blatantly incorrect. I don't know why the fandom is so obsessed with trying to hate him.
He shocked his daughter with electricity!!! The blueprint is most likely referring to keeping the music box wound up as it makes absolutely zero sense for him to zap her. He kidnapped his daughter in Lefty and burned her!! Okay? can you come up with a better way of bringing her to a location so that you can free everyone's spirits? No.
He let Michael die!! He literally said there was a way out planned for him. There doesn't just stop being a plan because Henry figured Michael wanted to stay. There's clearly a way to leave. Henry just accurately assumes Michael isn't going to take it because he's a remnant corpse and whatnot. The line is literally just to prove that the protagonist is Michael Afton.
The only thing fans can actually condemn him for is what he did in the novel trilogy, which even then he had lost his mind due to the grief of his toddler being murdered and EVEN THEN he wanted his work buried and forgotten about because he recognized how fucking terrible it all was. This is literally in his suicide note, he tells Jen to burn everything.
This isn't to say what he did was right in that book because it's not. It's just...how do you come out of the Fourth Closet hating HENRY of all characters? I don't understand the obsession.
I will defend Henry on my deathbed. You could be there and say, "Henry was horrible and abusive" and I will say with the last of my strength, "No he wasn't you stupid b-" and then die. No, I'll be DEAD and you'll say that and I will come back to life just to say that before dying for good.
In conclusion, I'm sorry you didn't have great fathers FNaF community, but you've got an abusive terrible purple father right there. No need to be willfully ignorant and try to make another father out to be just as bad.

What if my "Vanessa Afton is a role-reversed Charlotte Emily" movie theory carries over to the games. What if they're parallels in sb.
Someone DID mention the possibility of both Vanessa's paralleling Charlie-bot (both Baby and actual Charlie) in the Trilogy. And the fnaf movie's plot is very similar to 'The Silver Eyes'.
