It is now after midnight so here is my utterly bonkers werebear Halsin theory:

So what if the reason Halsin doesn't know he's actually a werebear is because he never transformed on the full moon? And what if the reason for THAT is that he was turned shortly before the Shadow Curse happened, but has no memory of being turned (someone theorized perhaps the shebear was a werebear and the one who turned Halsin, which would fit this theory and its timeline). He thinks he just got more attuned to his bear wildshape, which is why he started retaining more bear characteristics outside of his "wildshape", being less able to control the bear, etc.

As for why he didn't transform the first time? What if being there for the start of the Shadow Curse disrupted his wereish connection to Selune (both the moon and the Moonmaiden) and he was unable to transform until a while after the curse was broken- preventing his first transformation for long enough that he only discovers the truth after canon?

And as for why he could transform at all? Perhaps he retained enough were characteristics to be able to transform if he caused it (even subconsciously, I.E. by feeling very intense emotions and instincts) but unable to transform when the moon was full since that was controlled by the moon?

• A character that I used to love but don’t any longer: anyone in the books. In the show, I don’t like Jaime Lannister any longer... he has become very silly. I mean, think by yourself, man!!!!! (I really miss books!Jaime here...)
