A 17th century carved oak box with side drawer dated 1655. Intricate carvings on all sides, including geometric figures and hearts. These figures are typical of 17th century carved English furniture. Dated and signed under the lid: WILLIAM FYLLARY 1655. A secondary piece of paper is to be found underneath this from a later owner. This reiterates “WILLIAM FYLLARY 1655” along with indecipherable text and a date that reads 1801. Rare all original hardware on this box including 2 pairs of copper – bronze hinges allowing the top to fold over onto itself. Original brass escutcheon. Working lock and key. Due to a spring mechanism pushing down from the top through the side into the side drawer lock, the drawer is only accessible when the top is opened. Presumably this box contained writing utensils due to the side compartments which was most likely used for ink wells. It was no longer the prerogative of just the aristocrat and the scholar. By the last decades of the eighteenth century writing boxes were necessary in many non-domestic situations. Hi, your blog is really amazing! It always helps if I'm stuck. I'm writing a story, but I don't know how to come up with a title? Any tips for that? Also, in my story I have a character named Claire-Alice, but the name seems like a mouthful for the characters to address her like that all the time. I tried having them call her Claire-A, but it seems wrong. Do you have any advice for that? Sorry if it was a strange question and you can't help with it, but thank you anyways!

Hi! You could have people call her just Claire or just Alice. Maybe Claire-A could be converted to Clara. Like in the beginning, people call her Claire Alice or Claire-A and they kind just lapse into calling her Clara or they straight up say "Claire Alice/ Claire A is a mouthful, your new name is Clara". Other (kinda) hybrids of Claire Alice that I can think of is Claireece, Clairice (pronounced Claire-iss) , or Clalice (pronounced Claa- liss). I've never heard of the latter two being actual names, but hey it could be cool. I can imagine the name Claireece coming about because another character is brainstorming hybrid name for Claire Alice and they're like "Claire plus Alice. Claire-isss. Clairice, yeah. Ooo, how about Claireece like in Hannibal?" “Where the hell is this place?” Grian whispers as he looks around the idyllic landscape. It is a simple field. The breeze slowly flowing over the rolling plains, with sparse trees just barely visible in the distance. Grian’s blonde hair follows the wind. It is peaceful in the same way as a graveyard is. Silence. With no ambience sounds. No birds nor the sounds of swaying grass or the slight whisper of a breeze. It is just silent. Grian takes a step back, there is no nearly silent crunch sound of the grass being crushed. He looks around the landscape again. It feels like something is waiting. 

 It is suspense but the suspense of what? Grian questions to himself silently.

This doesn’t look like any season of hermitcraft he has been a part of (Officially and unofficially) but it doesn’t look like any server he had been a part of in the past either, those were all in cities with no grass plains like this. Nor his private world, with his little cottage with his cats….
