Pairings: Bucky Barnes x Reader

Summary: Orion’s Halloween is quickly turning rotten until someone helps to turn her day around with a few sweet treats. 

Warnings:  N/A Unless you count a disgusting amount of fluff to be a warning.

A/N:   A new Astrophile drabble! This is set in the very far future, Halloween 2042. Orion is 27 and it’s just the kiddos. No Beck or Bucky. This does have some bits (okay a lot of bits) of the the shared Price of Astrophile universe collab with Tara and if you haven’t read The Price of Gold you need to! Halloween 2042

Today has been a disaster. A complete and utter nightmare. It started with spilling hot tea all over her copy of Star Lore and down the front of her favorite skirt, which forced Ori to settle for the little black number Cassie bought her as a Halloween costume. It’s supposed to be a cat but it’s really a dress accompanied by cat ears. It’s not that it’s awful, it’s not her usual taste. It’s a simple spaghetti strap dress, sweetheart necklace that doesn’t dip too low and cut just above her knee. As far as Halloween costumes go it’s fairly modest but it’s a little tight compared to the rest of Ori’s closet. 

Little did she know that was just the beginning to her terrible day. This was the first day in months that Ori was running the store on her own. No mom to fall back on. Not that it hasn’t happened before. At fourteen Ori was working the floor by herself so none of this was new but, today has been a nightmare from the moment the doors opened. It was unusually busy for a holiday, especially Halloween. It wasn’t often that the store was packed with customers on a day like today and there were moments when Ori began to feel claustrophobic with the amount of people filling the tiny shop.  

Half of the morning was spent on decorating the window display for a new series that was set to be released at the beginning of November. The copies were scheduled to be delivered today, but they never showed and when Ori called to check on their status, the man she was unlucky enough to be put in contact with screamed at her, explaining that it was a holiday and not everyone spent their lives working. 

It was one of those days where she wished she was ten years old again and Bucky could swoop in and save the day. 

By some miracle, there was a lull, and she was able to slip behind the counter where her phone is kept when she’s working the floor alone. She swiped away the missed calls from Cassie and ignored the texts from Leo. There was only one person who knew how to calm the swirling mess in her head right now and she knows how pathetic she looks, twenty-seven, and tears swimming in her eyes. She didn’t care because just hearing his voice would help settle her. Theo’s voice rang her ear and as happy as she was to hear it, part of her wished it wasn’t his voicemail. 

“H-hey,” Ori’s voice cracked, she cleared her throat ridding it of the tears choking her. “I know you’re at work. I’m sorry I’m calling. Please tell me I didn’t get you in trouble. I’m so sorry if I did. I just… I needed to hear your voice. I’m having a really awful day. That party with Cassie is tonight. I don’t want to go even though Cassie says it will be fun. And this new series. This stupid dumb shipment. They said they would be here today and I spent all morning doing the window display between the mad rush of customers by the way, they never showed. When I called to check in they said they can’t get here because it’s a holiday and well, they yelled at me. Now, I have to find something to replace the window display and spend another hour fixing what I did this morning. The store is so incredibly busy. I haven’t even stopped for lunch. I’m hungry and tired and I hate this day. Great. Now, I’m whining. Did I mention that I miss you? Well, I do and-” 

“Ma'am?” A deep voice grabs Ori’s attention and she turns around to find a man in a UPS shirt standing behind the counter, she smiles as kindly as she can and pulls the phone away from her mouth to answer him, “I’m so sorry. Can I help you?”  

“We have your delivery.”

Ori can feel the color drain from her face. She shouldn’t have that many boxes and the publisher on the clipboard being handed to her isn’t right. 

“Wait… No. No, I didn’t order that. That’s not mine-”

“Orion Barnes?” 

“Well, yes that’s me but,” She sighs, holding back the whimper that’s threatening to escape her. “Can you hold on just one second?" 

Ori didn’t wait for his okay like she normally would have, she stepped towards her office and put the phone back up to her ear, “I guess my terrible, awful, no good day isn’t over. Talk to you soon? I hope.”

Orion had her eyes glued to a stack of invoices in front of her when the bell above the shop door rang. Thankfully, she was able to clear up the whole shipping mixup, but dealing with that set her even further behind inventory. It didn’t matter much. She knew who it was without having to raise her head. Ori didn’t have to look up to know her sister had arrived. Cassie skipped nearly everywhere, she has since she was old enough to walk and between the jingling of the bracelets on her wrist, the massive keyring on her purse, and the bells on her shoes (that had nothing to do with Halloween) it was easy to know when she arrived. The jingling came to a stop next to Ori, and a slight nudge to her hip that made Ori look up from the papers in her hand to find Cassie handing over a small brown paper bag from the bakery next door. Ori narrows her eyes at the gesture. Is she trying to butter her up about the party tonight? 

“What’s this?”

“Cinnamon bagel from next door,” Cassie said with a certain self-satisfied taunt to her voice. “A certain boy texted me and said you hadn’t eaten today and asked if I could bring you something when I come by to pick you up for tonight." 

Ori beams brightly as she peeks in the bag, avoiding her baby sister'’ suspicious and slightly giddy gaze.

“Question. Why is Theo texting me about your food needs and how does he know about tonight?” 

She doesn’t answer, but this isn’t unusual. Like Bucky, Ori’s softer, gentler when it comes to revealing things close to her heart. There are some secrets she’s not ready for the world (or herself) to know yet. Cassie on the other hand is loud, in all things, but especially with what’s written on her heart. She loves just as deeply as Ori does but she’s quick to shout it from the rooftops, without a hint of fear.

Ori wishes she could be like that sometimes. 

“Something is up. I can tell by the smile you’re trying to hide!”

"I’m smiling because I was hungry and it was very thoughtful of you both.”  

Ori finally gets a look at Cassie’s costume when Cassie sheds her coat and she can’t help the surprised laugh that slips out. She’s in a white cotton dress that looked like it was made from one of those adult onesies, covered in glitter from head to toe and the rainbow leggings she has on matches the tail sticking out of the bottom of her coat and the mane on her hood she has pushed down. 

“What are you wearing?!” 

“What? I’m a sparkly unicorn. I look adorable!” 

Ori grins. 

“Yes, you do. You look beautiful.” 

The bell chimes again and Ori greets her brother without looking, he’s never far behind Cassie after all. Leo looked pretty much like he always does, slacks and a button-up white collared shirt under his coat but he was wearing black square-frame glasses. He leans over the mahogany counter and presses a kiss on Ori’s cheek. Whatever Cassie was hoping to get out of Ori would never happen now that Leo was present. Ori laughed at the pout on Cassie’s face, picking at the bagel as she scans over the invoice in front of her. 

“Ready for tonight?” Leo asks as he steals a piece of her bagel.

Ori shrugs a little, glancing at the clock and sighed when she saw it was nearing six. They would be pushing her out the door soon. It’s not that she didn’t like going out, she did. Things have been off lately and she hasn’t felt much like socializing, which is why her siblings insisted they have a party. If it turns out to be as terrible as she predicts it’s going to be, she can always call Bucky to pick her up because no matter what Bucky still drops everything to come to her rescue whenever she needs it. 

“It’s going to be fun!” 

“I guess. I’m not really a party person.”

“I know but you make the cutest cat ever.” 

Leo’s brow furrows and the worry on his face has him looking so much like Bucky it almost makes Ori laugh. 

“You’ve been working a lot. Skipping family stuff. When was the last time you came to family dinner and didn’t rush out the door? Mom said you’re working more hours than she is-”

“I should! She deserves time with dad and it’s not like I have a life waiting on me right now.” 

It’s been a little over a year since she called off her wedding and ended things with Cole and while she’s happy that relationship has ended, she’s nowhere near where she thought she would be at her age. She had plans and lists, milestones she promised herself she would hit by a certain age and now she’s… floating. No purpose. No real path. Simply riding her mother’s coattails, managing a store she wouldn’t have without her mother and she has no idea where she’s going or what her future is going to look like. It’s terrifying. So maybe she’s been spending a little more time at work to keep her mind busy. Sometimes it doesn't quite calm the chaos in her head, but staying busy helps. 

“That’s not true. You have us and, yeah, mom deserves a break but so do you. We thought it would be good to get out of the house. If you hate it I’ll bring you home.” 

Ori smiles. Leo has always been their protector, ready to jump in and save his mom and sisters from anything that could cause them the slightest bit of discomfort. She couldn't be aggravated with him for wanting to help, he’s only following in Bucky’s footsteps. 

“Yeah, okay. Today has been a mess. Give me a few minutes to wrap things up, okay?” 

She’s barely had time for her eyes to focus on the words in front of her when Cassie chirps from her side, “The window display is a mess. What happened there?” 

“Cassie!”

“I’m just saying. Want me to help you fix it tomorrow?”

“I’ll be out in a minute,” Ori snatches the brown bag with her bagel resting on top and heads back towards the office in hopes she will be able to focus there, “and yes. I would like help. Thank you.”

“I’ll watch the desk!” Cassie shouts behind her, getting an appreciative smile from Ori. The quiet doesn’t last long. The shop bell is ringing and Cassie is yelling for her before she’s managed to make it through one invoice.  

“Ori! Get out here. There’s a delivery.” Cassie’s shouts are piercing her ears and she’s certain  the entire bakery next door can hear her clear as day. Ori steps back out onto the sales floor, frowning and having every intention of reminding Cassie not to scream in the store, but she can’t because she’s staring at the largest bundle of lavender she’s ever seen. 

“I-- this. What is this?” 

“They are for you!” Cassie squeals but quickly stops smiling and looks at the older gentleman who is wearing a warm smile when he confirms that they are indeed for her sister. 

“Yes, ma’am,” The man says with a chuckle, “If you’re Orion Barnes. These are for you.” 

He passes the delicate bundle wrapped in brown paper in her arm and passes over a pen for her signature. She quickly scribbles her name and pulls the small white card out of the twine, grinning foolishly at what’s written. 

“Who are they from?” Cassie begs, jumping up and down. “I already know but I need to see the card myself.” 

Ori presses the card to her chest to keep Cassie from sneaking a peek, she’s not willing to share a bit of the sweetness written there. Cassie quickly gives up on the card and snatches the receipt before Ori can grab it, finding exactly what she was looking for. 

“Theo Tucker! I knew it!” 

The thin paper is pulled from Cassie’s hand by Leo, who is staring at the receipt with a deep frown as if he can’t process what he is seeing. 

“Why is Theo sending you flowers? Where did he find a place that delivers lavender like that? More importantly… why is Theo sending you flowers?" 

Ori can’t answer her brother, she’s too busy grinning like a fool and hiding her blushing cheeks behind the soft purple sprigs in her arms. 

“What do you mean ‘Why is Theo sending her flowers?’ Because he loves her. Am I the only that’s been paying attention?” 

"He loves you. It's the same thing and you don’t get flowers.”

“It is a hundred percent not the same thing, Leo.”

There’s the faint sound of the twins arguing in the background, “How is it different?” “Leo you can’t be serious. You’ve seen the way he looks at her!” She should probably stop their bickering but she can’t. She can’t focus on anything, not while she’s daydreaming about California. 

Maybe it wasn’t the worst day, after all. 

“So, are you going to wear a sprig of lavender as your catnip? Seems like it added a little spring in your step.”  

“Cassie!” 

Cassie had squealed when Ori asked her to draw a cat nose and whiskers on her face. If she was going to dress as a cat she had to go all out. The ears, while cute, weren’t enough to satisfy the perfectionist in her. Before they left her apartment, she sent Theo a thank you text and a picture of her all dressed up. The simple response, you look beautiful, makes her stomach flip and leaves her head spinning. It drops a fraction when Leo asks why she’s smiling at her phone with such a goofy grin. 

No one is ready for that answer, so she tucked her phone in her purse for now. 

The minute they arrived, Leo stepped through the front door and pulled his shirt open to reveal a giant S stitched onto his blue undershirt and he proceeded to do several more times throughout the night. Despite her reservations about the party, it wasn’t so bad. Or maybe she was simply in a better mood. She spent a better part of the night hanging around Cassie and Ariel, who was dressed as Tinker Bell and her lovesick Peter Pan never strayed from her side for long. Ori didn’t know a lot of the people currently filling Leo and Ollie’s apartment, so it felt safer to stick by family. 

At some point a small group of people broke off from the larger party and started playing spin the bottle. It was strange to watch twenty year olds play a childhood game. There was bobbing for apples which didn’t seem all that sanitary if you asked Ori, which is why she declined rather emphatically when asked if she wanted to try. 

Halfway through the night their mom texted asking for pictures, so she took a few with Cassie and Ariel, some of her and Leo and of course all of them posing together. She even sent the few of Ariel and Ollie off to the Tuckers. Another text comes in but it’s not a response from her parents, a very handsome Indiana Jones pops up and she can’t help the huge smile that forms. He looks adorable with that hat and playful smirk and she tells him so. Ori peered over her phone to find Cassie and Ariel smiling, she cleared her throat and quickly hid her phone back in her purse. 

“Oh, look. There are some mummy cupcakes left. I better go grab one before they disappear,” Ori had muttered as she quickly tried to divert attention off of her. 

There was every Halloween themed treat you could think of. The chocolate covered strawberries dressed up as ghosts, bloody s’mores, and candy corn rice krispy treats were gone first. When Ori asked how they managed to do all this, Leo admitted with a sheepish grin that their mom had done most of the baking and Cassie and Ariel had decorated. She should have known Ariel had a hand in the planning, it was too well organized for Leo and Ollie to handle on their own. 

The party started to die down a little after one in the morning, Leo offered his bed but Cassie was already fast asleep and there was no way she was sharing with that human koala. After refusing to take Leo’s spot on the couch, Leo brought her back home with the promise to text him the minute he got back. There’s no way he would let her catch a cab back to her place all by herself. 

It’s nearly three by the time Ori trudges up the stairs to her apartment. She’s tired, but it’s a good kind of tired. Not that she will ever admit this to Cassie but tonight was fun. It wasn’t exactly where she wanted to be, and a very important someone was missing but it wasn’t as bad as she envisioned. She slips out of her heels and drops her purse on the table by the front door, she can clean up tomorrow when she’s not struggling to keep her eyes open. Right as she reaches kitchen island where her bouquet is sitting in her mother’s chipped mint green vase, her phone rings in her hand and she can’t help but grin at the name staring back at her. 

“Hey, you.”

Ori grins, dusting a finger over a stray sprig and she’s suddenly not feeling as tired.

“My day? You know, it wasn't so bad actually. It got better there at the end. Even better now.”

Date Night

Pairing: Lance Tucker x Reader Word Count: 2685 Warnings: fluffy fluff

Summary: Valentine’s Day brings a pleasant surprise when you’re asked to go out on a date by someone other than Lance

A/N: It’s been forever since I posted but with Valentine’s Day coming up I thought I should share this special story of my favorite family. Thank you to my beautiful pizza love @all1e23​​​ for beta reading ❤️

“Daddy?” Lance’s heart began to beat rapidly at the unexpected voice, letting out a sigh of relief as it was only Theo asking for a snack.

“Sure buddy, gimme a second, alright?” Lance responded, smiling back at Theo and Cashew who was practically his shadow.

Theo nodded but didn’t wait at the door, instead he went into the garage where his Dad was looking for something. Lance’s car was not in the driveway leaving Theo a lot of space to run around with his toy, making his superhero action figure narrowly fly over bicycles lined up against the wall, storage shelves and his old play wagon. Cashew playfully followed them both, though his ears perked up and he turned as Lance spoke. 

“Perfect,” Lance grinned, putting back the bin that stored the Halloween decorations.

Theo ran back over curiously, wondering what his Dad was doing. With Valentine’s Day almost a week out Lance found the perfect hiding spot for the gift he got you. 

“Don’t tell Mommy, okay? It’s a surprise. Pinky promise?” Lance held out his lifted pinky to Theo who locked his with his Dad’s, shaking enthusiastically. “You too Cashew,” he said, warning the dog to stop sniffing around his hiding spot.

Going back inside the house Theo bounced his toy off the wall, making sounds as it flew to the next surface he passed until they reached the kitchen. He placed the figure down on top of the table for a moment so he could pull out the chair, climbing onto it with his knees and left it to the side as he continued coloring his Valentine’s Day card for Ori. Cashew sat patiently on the floor beside him, hoping that food would soon find its way from the table to his mouth.

“Okay Theo, what kind of snack do you want?” Lance asked over his shoulder, standing in front of the refrigerator with his hand on the door ready to open it.

Theo answered casually as he continued to play, “Grilled cheese.”

“Grilled cheese!” Lance let go of the door and turned around completely. “Theo, we’re having dinner soon, we can’t have grilled cheese as a snack. How about something else? Apples and string cheese?”

Theo shook his head. If the cheese wasn’t grilled he wasn’t interested. He didn’t want any of his Dad’s suggestions, yogurt, grapes or even goldfish crackers.

“Help me out here buddy, ummm…” Lance opened the fridge to see what they actually had. His eyes lit up at the container on the middle shelf. “Guacamole?”

Theo bounced in his chair, nodding his head as he repeated, “Guaca-a-molie!” 

Lance took out the container and quickly sliced up some carrots, celery and bell peppers for them both to snack on. 

“What did you get mommy?” Theo asked, before tossing a carrot to Cashew. 

A soft smile spread across Lance’s face as he detailed the necklace he bought you, two tiny gold bars engraved with Ariel and Theo’s initials on a delicate chain. “And this weekend mommy and I are going out on a date.” With the holiday falling in the middle of the week it was easier to arrange for his in-laws to watch the kids on Saturday so Lance could take you out. 

“What’s a date?” the curious six year old asked.

Lance is surprised, certain it’s come up before from the times your parents have been gracious enough to come up and watch Ariel and Theodore, sometimes for a night, sometimes for a weekend. 

He finishes chewing his food, taking a pause to wipe his mouth and think about how he’s going to answer, “Well for Mommy and I, going on a date is a way we can have special time together to show how much we love each other. So I’m taking Mommy out to dinner.”

Lance could see the wheels in Theo’s head turning, waiting for any more questions he might have. He’s happy to answer them, proud he can show Theo and Ariel what a healthy and loving relationship between two people can be. 

“What story do you want to read tonight Pumpkin?” you asked, looking over all of the different choices on Theo’s bookshelf. 

Theo was silent but not because he was choosing a book. With a little hesitation he squeaked, “Mommy, is it okay if Daddy reads me a story tonight?” 

His eyes were as big and round as Cashew’s when he would beg to go outside despite a hurricane, yet Theo also had worry swirling inside his stare. Your smile eased his fears and you didn’t take it personally.

Lance was standing outside the bathroom in the hallway with his head looking down at his phone. The door was ajar for him to listen in case Ariel needed him. She began taking showers by herself at the start of the year, a big step that neither you or Lance were prepared for since it meant she was growing up. Still at eight years old, “Almost eight and a half!” Ariel’s voice echoed in your head, you wanted to be cautious. 

“Theo wants you to read to him tonight,” you said, as Lance lifted his head up. You traded jobs for the night, stealing a kiss before you settled against the wall waiting for Ariel.

The moment Lance walked into Theo’s room he froze, as Theo zoomed past him to shut the door. 

“What’s goin’ on buddy?” Lance asked with a bit of parental concern.

Theo smiled, motioning for his Dad to sit on his bed with him. Once there, Theo brought his hand up beside his face as his mouth carried excited whispers into his dad’s ear. 

You woke up softly to the gentle touch of Lance’s lips, delicate as the petals of a flower he presses them on your skin; each one causing a bloom of happiness that radiates out from your heart. You smile staring back at him, lifting your hand to caress his cheek as your voice rasps with the remnants of sleep.

“G’morning my love.” 

He shifts himself for you to cuddle close, enjoying the early moments of the dawn, before the alarm goes off, before the kids wake up, before Cashew needs to go out, before the world wants to take your attention away from each other. 

Your head finds a comfortable spot against him, a tiny smile tugs at your lips when his arm wraps around your body keeping you snug. The arm that isn’t curled under you finds its way onto his chest, your palm presses against it feeling Lance’s firm body beneath his plain white t-shirt. 

His hand covered yours against him as Lance murmured, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Y/N.”

Your head lifted up towards Lance, a smile gracing your face as you repeated the words back to him, your lips connecting for a languid kiss. The weeks have been busy between work and Ariel’s upcoming recital you had nearly forgotten today was Valentine’s Day. And as cheesy and cliché as it sounds you can’t help but feel like every day is a celebration of your love by the way Lance reminds you. 

You couldn’t wait until Saturday, to go out on a much needed date with the love of your life and enjoy each other’s company away from the responsibilities of the real world. Your children always came first but it was nice to be able to do something just for yourselves.

With a glance towards the clock you smirk, a flash of desire burns in your eyes as you and Lance race against the clock before Ariel and Theo wake up. At least by now you’ve learned to lock your bedroom door. 

After a quick shower your morning is filled with even more love, from the hugs and kisses Ariel and Theo gave you to Cashew’s broad tongue licking at your cheek. A special pink frosted dog treat settled him down as you helped serve the heart shaped pancakes Lance made everyone for breakfast.

Lance was dropping the kids off to school this morning and you made sure their backpacks had the Valentine’s they filled out for their classmates. You had a lot to do before you would be picking them up after school and the time always seems to fly by the busier you are. You had an interview scheduled with Serena Williams, someone you had been looking to speak with for quite some time now so you were very excited. 

As you entered your office something caught your eye on the desk. You smiled at the folded construction paper in carnation pink, turning it over to look at the front covered in red hearts and cupid stickers.

Opening it up you couldn’t stop the smile that spread from ear to ear. Red crayon written by an unpolished hand wrote the details:

                           Date: Valentine’s Day... TODAY!!!                                        Time: dinner time                                         Place: my house

                                        Love, Theodore

You waited a bit before calling Lance to be sure the kids were dropped off at school. He answered with a cheerful greeting and you teased, “Looks like I have a date tonight.”

He let out a soft chuckle. “Yeah, I think I heard something about that. Theo’s a very lucky guy.”

“There’s more than enough room in my heart for both of you,” you teased, pressing a kiss to his lips.

Ariel rushed to change into her leotard, not realizing she was going to be running late for dance class. She couldn’t help it, she was on the phone with her friends Cassie and Leo in New York, FaceTiming as they all opened the Valentine’s gifts they sent each other. After that call, she did the same with Ollie and they ended up spending a lot more time talking than she planned for. 

Normally Ariel would hate being late but she didn’t mind at all talking to him. It was something she made time for every day even if their conversations weren’t always as long as she wanted them to be.

Before she went downstairs she placed the plush doll Ollie got her of Lady from Lady and the Tramp on her bed and unclasped the necklace from around the dog’s neck. It was a beautiful golden heart shaped locket with a tiny ballet slipper charm beside it. She opened the locket to find a picture of them together from when they met all those months ago on vacation. 

A smile extended far beyond the limits of her face and Ariel made no attempts to hide it. You eyed the locket around her neck before she slipped on a light sweatshirt. 

“Is that from Ollie?” you practically sang, knowing the answer already. A smile poked through the top of her shirt as she put it on, enthusiastically nodding her head as she showed off the necklace. “It’s beautiful sweetheart.” 

Lance was taking Ariel out to dinner after dance class. You were happy they were spending the evening together. She wasn’t the jealous type but you and Lance always tried to make sure everything was fair between her and Theo.

“Dad and I are going to Doc’s for pancakes tonight,” she said proudly. 

“Pancakes twice in one day. Aren’t you a lucky girl!”

Lance grinned awkwardly realizing Ariel should probably have a better dinner but if his Starfish wanted pancakes for dinner then she was having pancakes. He kissed you quickly, smiling against your lips as Theo told you guys to hurry up.

“She’s all yours,” Lance said as he and Ariel left.

Turning around you saw Theo dressed in a short sleeve white shirt tucked into his jeans, wearing one of Lance’s navy patterned ties. In his hand was a single rose that he held out for you.

“Hi mommy,” he smiled, walking over to give you the flower, “Happy Valentine’s Day.” 

You could already tell your cheeks were going to ache before the night was up from smiling so much. Theo held your hand as he led you outside to the table Lance had most likely helped him set up. A small vase of a few roses sat in the center of the table, with flameless candles flickering around it. Plastic flutes were filled with a liquid that looked too gold to be champagne and a bright red plate was placed upside down, covering whatever you were about to eat. 

“This is beautiful Theo, thank you.” He pulled out the chair for you to sit, going to his own as you scooched closer to the table. 

“Oh!” he gasped and Cashew picked his head up at the sound. You pet him quickly and he eased back down, a welcome third wheel to your date. Theo dug into his pocket to pull something out. “You have to wear it,” he said, handing you a crumbled tie. 

Giggles erupted as you took the fabric. This was a fancy date after and according to Theo if you weren’t wearing a dress you had to wear a tie. You looped it through into a loose knot around your neck, excitedly awaiting for Theo to reveal what he said he cooked. On his count you lifted the plates covering your meal, smiling as you saw a peanut butter and jelly sandwich beside a handful of goldfish crackers on one side and apple slices on the other.

“Wow, you cooked this Theo?” you asked.

He nodded proudly. “Sometimes when you and Daddy cook dinner I help but this, but this time I cooked and I made Daddy help me.”

Taking a bite you hummed in satisfaction, “Mmm you both did a great job. It’s delicious!” 

Bringing the flute to your lips you tasted the sweetness of apple juice that helped wash away some of the sticky peanut butter from your teeth. Theo went on to tell you about his day, filling you in on the kindergarten gossip of who likes who.

“And then at lunch Gabby was sad because she had strawberry milk and she didn’t like it so I gave her my vanilla milk but I didn’t drink the strawberry milk because I don’t like it either.”

Your heart swelled at Theo’s generosity, knowing you and Lance are raising a kindhearted person. 

“That was really sweet of you Theo, I’m very proud.” Nothing could wipe the smile off your face and you couldn’t wait to tell Lance about this, including the fact that his son also hates strawberry milk as much as he does. 

With dinner finished Theo held the plates against him as he walked inside the house as you took in the flowers, candles and glasses, with the tablecloth thrown over your shoulder. Everything was placed on the kitchen counter leaving the few dishes to be done later since you wanted to spend as much time together with your sweet boy.

You thanked him for dinner, asking if he wanted to watch a movie together and he suggested The Little Mermaid. 

“Daddy told me that on a date you have to show how much you love them, so I want you to watch your favorite movie because I love you.”

You kneeled to the floor, opening your arms up for him to step closer to you, wrapping them around his body and giving him a kiss on the cheek. “I love you too.”

Theo grabbed your cheeks bringing his pursed lips close until they reached your cheek. He pressed them hard into skin as he emphasized a kissing sound. “I love you three!” he giggled.

“I love you four!”

“I love you more!” he said loudly, laughing as you squeezed him a little tighter, peppering quick pecks all over his face until he had to catch his breath from laughter. 

He snuggled against you on the couch with Cashew taking up a few cushions himself as you watched the movie and Lance and Ariel came home just in time for the last twenty minutes. Your children cuddled up on both sides of you and Lance stretched his arm out across the back of the couch, his thumb rubbing circles against your skin. It was official, this was the best date night ever.

“Thế mà sao đến với nhau được nếu quên mặt nhau?”

“Vì như thế, tình yêu thật sự sẽ đến với nhau! Nghe rất là lãng mạn làm sao.”

“Nghe xàm thì đúng!”

“Em không thể cùng ta bay hết cuối con đường này sao?”

Ori nhìn hắn, chỉ nở một nụ cười. “Em xin lỗi.”

Bởi vì, em ấy cũng sẽ quên hắn mà thôi.

Như mọi lần, vẫn là câu nói đó.

Như mọi khi, Ori biến mất.

Và hắn tỉnh dậy, những giấc mơ về Ori cũng thế mà biến mất theo.

Khu Rừng Ẩn, nơi những hạt mưa nhỏ bé có thể dập tắt đi Ngọn Lửa Vĩnh Hằng của những Di Duệ nếu bị ảnh hưởng quá nhiều.

Đứng dưới làn mưa, Di Duệ của Vị Lão Phế Tích Hoàng Kim nhìn lên bầu trời ảm đạm kia, hắn mặc kệ cơn mưa có dần tắt đi Ngọn Lửa của hắn.

Dù gì đi nữa, hắn không để tâm. Giờ đây, hắn đang cố tìm một thứ gì đó, một ai đó trong vô vọng.

Mỗi lần hắn tỉnh dậy, luôn để hắn với những cảm xúc trống rỗng, lạc lõng, khó chịu, mất mát.

Như thể một cái gì đó (một ai đó) quan trọng bị cướp đi từ hắn.

Hắn nghĩ rằng đến nơi này để xóa bỏ tâm trạng tiêu cực của hắn, thư giãn chút. Có ai ngờ, giờ hắn đang tìm kiếm một cái gì đó mà hắn cũng không biết là gì.

Thật là thảm hại mà.

Cũng đã mấy tháng trời rồi, những giấc ngủ say sưa, những giấc mơ không hình ảnh và con tim trống rỗng mỗi khi tỉnh dậy. Hắn đã thử vài ngày không đi ngủ, kết quả hắn chỉ tự làm tổn thương bản thân mà thôi.

Thôi thì, cũng tới đây rồi nên đi hết cuối khu này vậy.

Chào hỏi vài câu với Vị Lão Teth (và bị lấy đi Ngọn Lửa, again) cánh cổng trước đằng sau Mộ lần lượt mà mở ra.

Hắn chậm rãi mà bước xuống khu cuối của ngôi đền.

Không hiểu sao, bên ngoài Ngôi Đền đều trông u ám làm sao thì phía sau trong đây lại đẹp đẽ làm sao.

Như chốn thiên đường…

Turn Back Time

Pairing: Lance Tucker x Reader Word Count: 2617 Warnings: fluff, embarrassing moments

Summary: Theo's embarrassing mistake makes his parents wish they could turn back time.

A/N: We're skipping ahead to the future! This takes place in October 2039 and yes this is another Theo-centric drabble but it's fine because we love him. It’s quiet in the house, silent mostly apart from the gentle hum of the washing machine that fills the background as your eyes gaze over the pages of the sturdy book that rests in your lap. Your focus is interrupted every now and then when Cashew lets out a deep snore you’re surprised hasn’t woken him.

He’s curled up beside you on the couch with his head resting against your thigh. The book can wait so you’ve set it off to the side, rubbing your palm in long, gentle strokes along his body. It’s hard not to notice how he doesn’t climb up as easily as he used to. You vividly recall the day you adopted him and it’s hard to believe that was thirteen years ago but just like Cashew isn’t a puppy anymore, your kids aren’t children. 

Ariel is living in New York and though you knew this was coming for a long time you still miss her every day. It made sense for her to be there with more opportunities in dance. She was loving every moment training at the American Ballet Theatre.

New York had offered more than just dance, Ariel’s heart had been there ever since she met Ollie. You understood the difficulties of a long distance relationship, having done so with Lance for a while. It still amazed you though how dedicated they were to each other despite their age. Their friends enjoyed the convenience of being face to face while Ariel and Ollie spent more time having “dates” over FaceTime until they were able to see each other in person again.

Now you’re the one that has to FaceTime her, thankful that no matter how exhausted she was after a long day of dancing she always has time to speak to her parents. Lance knew the rigorous training she was going through, reminiscent of his own Olympic training. “You don’t have to call us every night,” he would tell her and while Ariel knew she didn’t have to, she could see passed the smile on his face knowing how much her Dad misses his Starfish. If a few minutes a day made her parents happy she would give that and more without question.

Seeing her over the phone was good but in person was even better and last weekend you were able to do that. It was her twentieth birthday and you and Lance flew up to celebrate. It didn’t matter that you last saw her two months ago, both of you hugged her like it’s been forever.

She was more than settled in at the Barnes’ house and you couldn’t thank them enough as they offered to have Ariel stay with them. You were certain Cassie had a lot of influence on their decision, emphatically telling them all the reasons why Ariel should live there.

Truthfully she didn’t have a lot of convincing to do. You and Lance were as close to the Barnes’ as Ariel and Cassie. You had a long discussion with them and they kindly offered Orion’s old bedroom. She had been living in the apartment above their bookstore for the last few years so they did have the space. Plus they considered Ariel family and they wanted to make sure she was safe as she navigated life in a new city. 

It was sad that Theo couldn’t make it and no one was more disappointed than him. He would use any opportunity to see his friends in New York and it killed him to have to miss this trip. Theo was training to become a lifeguard and his classes were every Saturday; missing even one would disqualify him from the program. 

He was able to FaceTime as everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to Ariel, watching her blow out the candles on the cake Cassie made for her. The phone was passed around so Theo could say goodbye to everyone, heat forming on his cheeks when Ori told him how much he was missed. His smile curbed just a bit when Leo grabbed the phone and teased that he wasn’t missed that much.

Theo was only alone for a few days and while some seventeen year olds with a house to themself might throw a party Theo was focused on practicing. He stayed long after class was over to continue swimming laps in the Olympic size pool. With his test coming up he needed to practice as much as he could.

The sound of the door shutting puts a smile on your face. Before he even announces himself you know it’s Theo, you can tell by the way he shuffles inside, dropping off his bag near the front closet like he always does.

Cashew slowly lifts his head up as Theo plops down on the couch. “Hey mom,” he said quickly, smiling at Cashew who slowly got up to turn and face Theo.

“You’re home early. I thought you’d be practicing some more.” 

He looked up from Cashew to answer you, still giving the good old dog scratches behind his ears. “They had some private lessons so I couldn’t stay. Did you have lunch yet? I’m gonna make something before I get into our pool, unless you needed it?”

You couldn’t help the smile on your face knowing Theo had grown into a kind and considerate young man; not that you expected anything else. You and Lance worked hard raising him and Ariel with manners and to treat everyone with respect

“I ate already, thank you Pumpkin.” Theo dropped his head to Cashew as fond embarrassment came over him at the sound of his nickname. “And the pool is all yours though I do wish you would take it easy. You’re sure you haven’t been pushing your knee too much?”

His shorts are bunched just above the scar from the ACL surgery he had earlier this year and the injury, although common, was devastating to Theo. He loved being active so bringing all of his activities to an immediate halt hurt more than the pop felt in his knee. He was eager to get back into everything which made you worry. Then again, as his mother you would always worry about him.

“I feel good, trust me Mom.” Theo reassured you with a smile. He got up from the couch and stopped to plant a kiss on your cheek before heading to the kitchen. You helped Cashew down, his nails tapping slowly against the floors as he followed Theo, hopeful and waiting for some food to drop.

As you were folding laundry you didn’t expect Theo to be there, startling you enough that a pair of folded socks went flying out of your hands. He laughed as he went to pick it up, snickering still as he asked, “Do you know where the Bluetooth speaker is? Mine broke.”

Pursed lips held feigned anger for Theo laughing at you but you couldn’t keep it up. “It might still be in the garage from the last time Ariel was home.” 

“Thanks,” he said, tossing the rolled up socks your way. He turned on his heels before backtracking, flashing a smile as bright and white as the freshly folded towel he took from the pile, throwing it over his bare shoulder.

Theo was ready to swim again, and not long after you heard music blasting from the backyard. Your pool wasn’t large enough to accurately practice the timed laps he needed to complete for certification but he was able to work on other things, like perfect all of his strokes and practice retrieving a diving brick from the bottom of the pool. It was a little awkward and Theo supposes that grabbing a person will feel just as foreign. Then again he’s kind of done it before.

Last year when his friends from New York came to visit everyone was helping Ariel pack up things for her move. Ollie even brought an extra suitcase so he could bring back some things in advance to ease the trip she would have to make the following month. As her best friend Cassie was at her side, holding the list Ariel made and rightfully ignoring it as she pointed at random things in the room to see if it was something Ariel wanted to take. (And no Cassie, there was no need for Ariel to take the pink bowling pin from her seventh birthday party with her to New York.)

Leo was doing his best to help, at Cassie’s insistence. He would much rather be hanging out with Theo who is much luckier than him for not having to help pack up. His eyes shifted to the open door, hoping the sound of the person coming up the stairs was Theo, or Ori even. It was a good thing Ariel’s room didn’t face the backyard because Leo would have been running outside if he got a look at what was going on.

Theo can’t escape the memory of the day he taught Ori how to swim. Somehow he was lucky enough to be alone with her, without Leo’s disapproving stare weighing him down. His own nerves were doing that for him but he pushed them aside as much as he could.

Ori was embarrassed, thinking she was too old to be learning how to swim at twenty-three. Her makeshift doggy paddle was enough to fool others into thinking she simply preferred the shallow end to stay near her younger siblings when they were little. 

The truth was the deep end was unpredictable. There were too many what-ifs and if Ori could not solidly control a situation then she simply wouldn’t go for it. But things didn’t seem as scary with Theo there. Maybe it was the look in his eyes, honesty swirling in the reflection of the water below them; or his smile, with kindness pouring out from the soft pull of his lips. There was no need to feel shame and with Theo she never had a reason to. 

It was one of the best days of his life, not only because of the time he was able to spend with her but because Ori trusted him. He kept her safe and taught her as much as he could before the sky decided to open up on them. 

Every time he gets in his pool those memories wash over him. Theo can’t help the heat that creeps on his cheeks, a minor distraction he tries to shake off so he could continue practicing. But when he remembers her scent, fresh lavender that’s soft and pretty just like Ori, it has him swimming through the clouds. 

It was hard not to think about Ori, she’s been on his mind ever since they met. He was a child then with a big crush on that pretty girl with the big smile and gorgeous eyes; but with every passing year his feelings have grown and Theo knows deep down in his heart there's a reason why he can't shake this crush. His mind drifts with hope for the future. 

Eventually he was able to focus, staying out there until long after Lance got home. Dinner was quick and you and Lance could see how much Theo had pushed himself all day. He was exhausted, unable to control his yawning in between chewing his food. The sun had barely begun to set when he said goodnight to you both.

The rest of the night was spent in bed, cuddling up with Lance as you watched a movie hearing the gentle patter of rain against the windows. Cashew was resting at the end of the bed, surprising you when he lifted his head up at the sound of the toilet flushing down the hall. 

“Good boy Cashew,” you cooed, leaning forward to pat his head, “You heard Theo, good boy!” It was nice, for a moment, to believe Cashew wasn't as old as he really was.

You settled back against Lance, feeling him press a kiss to the top of your head. His hand rubbed up and down your arm gently, reaching down to squeeze a handful of your bottom.

As you lifted your head up towards him, Lance’s growing smirk told you that Cashew might have to temporarily move to his bed on the floor. He leaned in to capture your lips, your need for him growing deeper until everything came to a record scratching halt. 

“Mmmm just like that baby.” 

You pulled away, puzzled by the foreign sound of a woman whose pornographic moans grew louder and louder.

“What the fuck? Where is that coming from?”

Both of your phones were on the nightstand untouched and the movie was still playing so it was unlikely that the remote had been accidentally touched. Lance chuckled as he sat back against the headboard, wishing you would get back in bed so he could pull those same sounds from you.

You scanned your bedroom following the lewd sounds until you stopped dead in your tracks. On the bathroom counter your eyes widened in horror, staring at the sleek Bluetooth speaker, the same device Theo was using earlier. Lance must have taken it back inside before the storm.

Your feet carried you in a hurry, jumping back in bed in a frenzy, disturbing poor Cashew as you buried your face in the pillow.

“What?” Lance asked, first with a laugh which faded into concern as you shook your head, muttering a slew of “no’s” into the fabric. “Y/N what’s wrong?”

Your head turned to the side, peeking one eye open at Lance who couldn’t stand the anticipation any longer.

“It’s… Theo.” Your face cringed as you said his name. “He must have been too tired before to disconnect his phone from the speaker…” 

Lance’s lips pressed into a thin line realizing he would have to handle this embarrassing situation since there was no way you could. 

It wasn’t that Theo wasn’t open with you. He never shied away from bringing Amber over the house, asking for your advice on sweet things he could do for her especially when they got back together but there were some things he definitely felt more comfortable talking about with his Dad. 

Lance let out a heavy breath, closing the door behind him so you didn’t have to hear that awkward conversation.

“Cashew help me!” you pleaded, patting the spot on the mattress next to you for him to cuddle.

He plopped down beside you, licking your face as you gently pet him. The moans abruptly stopped and you felt some relief though a bit of sadness lingered. Although Theo would always be your pumpkin he was no longer a little boy. 

“Theo’s all grown up now huh Cashew?” His head tilted slowly, a reminder that he too was all grown. As the door creaked open you lifted your head to Lance, hesitantly asking, “Everything good?”

He pinched the bridge of his nose, letting out a small laugh, “Yeah... he’ll be fine.” 

Getting back into bed, Lance adjusted his position since Cashew had taken up a good portion of the middle. With Ariel in New York and Theo graduating next year it made you both realize just how much time had passed and because of that Lance didn’t take it personal when you snuggled with Cashew instead of him. He threw his arm over both of you, flashing that same smile that spoke the words he didn’t need to say. 

You were both feeling the same thing, the yearning of wanting to turn back time and not let your babies (and puppy) grow up as fast as they did. Or at the very least, remind Theo to disconnect his phone from the speaker!

Mischief Hat x Ori

To the Office

Chap 1

Tiếng thét điên cuồng của con Hắc Long hằng ngày bay lượn trên con tàu đắm kia, đã soi trúng con mồi của nó và-

“Đừng nhìn chỗ khác, hãy nhìn mình anh thôi.”

Bàn tay của người đối diện nhẹ nhàng nâng cằm cô lên mà hướng về anh. Phớt lờ đi tiếng kêu như sấm sét khi Ngôi Sao của ai đó đã mất, tiếng xâu xé của con Hắc Long kia. Giờ đây, Mischief chỉ muốn sự tập trung của người trước mặt hướng mỗi mình anh thôi.

“Xin chào, Ori.” Anh mỉm cười.

Họ đã tình gặp cờ nhau tại nơi này, nơi Ori đã suýt bị con Hắc Long kia phát hiện và chính anh đã cứu cô khỏi nó.

Từ đó, họ đã trở thành bạn của nhau nhưng anh lại muốn hơn thế nữa.

“Mischief, anh làm gì ở đây?” Ori hỏi, dù đã qua Halloween, cái ngày đầu cô gặp anh, ngày anh xuất hiện. Mischief vẫn thoắt ẩn thoắt hiện, cô không thể nào tìm anh trong Chòm Sao cả, anh cứ đến và đi như không khí.

Mischief không trả lời, thay vào đó anh hỏi, “Em đã tìm được nơi đó chưa?” Bàn tay anh vươn lên chạm vào mái tóc mềm mại của cô.

Ori không hiểu sao Mischief cứ thích chạm vào tóc cô, đã bao nhiêu lần rồi cô đã nói với anh không được tự tiện như thế. Mà Mischief có vẻ không hiểu hoặc hiểu nhưng vẫn thích làm, nếu anh đã thích thì không gì có thể ngăn cản anh.

Ori chỉ biết thở dài và nói. “Chưa, em đã tìm khắp nơi của Kho Tri Thức nhưng không thấy nơi anh nói. Sự Kiện cũng qua rồi nên chắc họ đã dọn dẹp nơi đó.”

Anh mỉm cười và nói, "Vậy để anh dẫn em đi nhé." Khuôn mặt anh kề sát mặt cô, thêm xíu nữa là họ có thể hôn rồi. Ori cũng đã từng nói là đừng có tự tiện đi vào không gian cá nhân của một người như thế nhưng vì đây chỉ là lần thứ hai nên cô không nhắc.

Ori mở miệng ra định nói thì ngón tay thon dài của anh khẽ nhẹ chạm vào môi cô, cắt đi lời nói dang dở đó.

“Shhh, anh có cách mà.” Mischief nháy mắt, vẻ mặt hiện lên sự tinh nghịch, đúng với tên của anh.

Nói là làm, Mischief nhanh chóng đưa cô đến ngôi đền của Phế tích Hoàng Kim và thay vì đi đường chính, anh ta dắt cô đi đường khác để đi tới Kho Tri Thức.

Anh ta rất thích phá vỡ định luật của quy tắc.

“Đây là đường đi tới Kho Tri Thức, tối nhỉ?" Anh giả vờ ngạc nhiên nói, tay anh khẽ siết chặt tay của cô. Mischief quay qua nhìn Ori, khuôn mặt dịu dàng của anh kèm theo lời nói an ủi. "Không sao đâu, có anh ở đây.”

“Chứ không phải có cái lồng đèn mới thấy rõ đường đi sao?” Ori nhướn mày trả lời, dù biết Mischief cứ thích nói những lời không vào đâu hay 'thính' của anh ta, cô thấy nó rất là phiền.

Mischief cười.

Anh biết Ori thuộc kiểu người thực tế, cô không hay bị những lời nói hoa mĩ, quyến rũ của anh (hoặc của ai hết) mà u mê. Cũng thuộc kiểu người nghiêm túc, không thích đùa. Dù thế, cô không hề lạnh lùng mà còn hay giúp đỡ mọi người, chiếc ghế cô lúc nào cũng mang trên lưng để dễ dàng giao tiếp với những đứa trẻ ánh sáng mới sinh kia.

“Ta đi nào, Ori.”

Cả hai cùng nhau tiến bước vào Kho Tri Thức, đường dài và tối nhưng với chiếc lồng đèn trên tay anh có thể rọi sáng mọi nơi, họ sẽ không bị đi lạc.

Khi họ tới Kho Tri Thức, Mischief rẽ sang trái và đứng trước một bức tường.

"Là chỗ này nè."

Ori nhìn nhưng không thấy gì đặc biệt, đó là chỉ một bức tường thôi.

Ori nhìn Mischief khó hiểu, anh ta chỉ mỉm cười và đáp lại. "Có lẽ, anh nên thêm một gợi ý khác cho em lúc đó nhưng đã lỡ rồi và anh chắc em thích tự tìm đường hơn là được anh chỉ."

Sinh ra là một Ori và vẫn mãi là Ori. Em có thể chọn con đường khác hơn, con đường đông đúc và có nhiều người ngưỡng mộ. Nhưng em lại chọn làm một Ori, một con gián trong mắt người khác.

Có phải vì, em là một Bướm Đêm?

Nơi này đã thay đổi rất nhiều từ khi những Di Duệ mới giáng xuống, khi mọi quy tắc vốn có bị đảo lộn và Họ đã phải thiết lập lại mọi thứ sao cho phù hợp.

"Mischief?"

Giọng nói nhỏ nhẹ đầy âu lo khiến anh tỉnh giấc, anh nhìn xuống và thấy vẻ mặt đầy lo lắng của Ori dành cho anh.

Chỉ mỗi mình anh.

Mischief mỉm cười, "Ta đi nào."

Bước vô tường ẩn khi, Ori ngạc nhiên khi thấy bản thân đi xuyên qua tường.

"Ơ!?!?" Ori ngạc nhiên đến nỗi không thể thốt lên lời nói nào khác.

Mischief nhìn lại và cười. "Ngạc nhiên chưa? Đừng lo, khi em vô vào Văn Phòng, em sẽ càng ngạc nhiên thêm, có những con vật vui nhộn, dễ thương trong đó đấy."

"Thật sao? Là con gì vậy?" Cô hỏi, vẫn còn ngạc nhiên với khu tường ẩn này, bây giờ Mischief nói còn thêm ngạc nhiên trong Văn Phòng. Chưa xong ngạc nhiên này đến ngạc nhiên khác, cô rất muốn đi vô đó xem.

Mischief thích thú nhìn vẻ mặt bất ngờ và hưng phấn của cô. Ori của anh ít khi bộc lộ vẻ mặt dễ thương như thế này, nếu mỗi khi Ori nhận được sự bất ngờ đến thế, anh muốn làm nhiều bất ngờ cho cô ấy để ngắm khuôn mặt đáng yêu ấy mãi.

"Vô đó thì biết." Anh cười khúc khích.

Đi được một đoạn ngắn, Ori kéo tay anh lại và hỏi. "Khoan đã, Sự Kiện đã qua thì làm sao mà vào Văn Phòng được? Chúng ta đâu có đôi cánh kia đâu?"

"Ori ngốc nghếch."

"Ơ!? Sao anh lại-"

Chậc, khuôn mặt đỏ ửng kia thật là cưng quá đi. "Đã nói rồi, anh có cách mà. Em nghĩ bộ đồ phù thủy này của anh là giả sao?"

"..." Mischief nói cũng đúng, ít khi nào cô thấy Di Duệ nào có thể làm được như anh ta.

Họ bước đi thêm vài đoạn nữa và ra khỏi cái hang chật hẹp kia. Trước mặt họ là một nơi hoàn toàn khác xa với khung cảnh của Kho Tri Thức, những bông hoa của Thảo Nguyên Ban Mai trải khắp trên mặt nền thảm cỏ xanh.

Mischief quay qua nhìn cô và nói.

"Chào mừng em đến với cánh cổng của Văn Phòng."

24 through 30?

24: how did you come up with the title for [x fic]?

I'm gonna make this general and say I don't do shit to come up with titles tbh, but when they do have a title it's normally just something short and descriptive so I can find it in my wip documents or some dumb joke because I normally only share a lot of these with my friends.

25: which idea came to you first in [x fic]?

I can only assume you want me to choose which fic? so uh. with Horrorterror Enny (If the Other Half of My Soul Wanted to Give Me to a Horrorterror I Would Simply Not Let Them) the idea of just Enny as a horrorterror was what kickstarted it, and then her being the result of Aila's deal came later. when writing I had everything there already in quick rambly lore. in Duktra all I knew was Fantra and Dukkel needed to have a talk and I needed to show the toll Dukkel takes on Fantra. for Depression Duo I just wanted Aila to be comforted and figured Lyla Gets It.

26: which part of [x fic] was the hardest to write?

for Horrorterror Enny it was Sarthraruus talking with Enny one-on-one. also figuring out if I should say voice or voices for him >:P. for Duktra it was Dukkel just... in general. for Depression Duo, Lyla. absolutely Lyla's dialogue.

27: if you were ever to do a sequel to [x fic], what do you think might happen in it?

Horrorterror Enny has one hopefully planned. :). it's gonna focus on Enny adapting to this new form and being more independent. Duktra would likely be Fantra-centric again, having a real rough time and feeling like shit until she finally gets some comfort from someone (likely Lyla, possibly Pandra, possibly.... Dukkel. it would be interesting digging that grave deeper. sorry Fantra) and still feels shitty but better. Depression Duo would be Lyla Teaches Aila Coping Mechanisms and/or Lyla Brings Aila To Moirail Time With Kodi. that would be nice.

28: in [x fic], what is a happy, post-fic headcanon you have about [pairing]?

uhh... hm. Duktra doesn't really get a light-hearted one because of the nature of their relationship, Horrorterror Enny has nothing to work off of there, but Depression Duo can have lil a softness. as a treat. Lyla and Aila defo keep checking up on each other after that and while this is a little away from that bringing each other coffee is helping, right? right. nice to feel remembered and very nice to get mmm bean juice.

29: send me a word. if it's in your WIPs, include the sentence and a short summary of the fic.

okay for this one you kind of have to choose a word for it? I mean I appreciate it but. I'll go with my default word, green.

green is in one of these! it's part of a list, so it's weird. "Green. A tiny cactus." ohoho this fic. this one is unofficially named The Real Soulmates Are the Friends We Made Along the Way even though it's not a strict soulmate au? it's from that one prompt about everyone receiving a letter from their older self. Enny receives her letter and only finds a bunch of drawings with the words "It gets better." she quickly finds out each drawing represents an important person in her life and whoops SBURB time oh fuck really? really are all the people in her session on there? and all the people from this other doomed session? wow she never would have guessed. thanks future her. turns out that each of them drew their own thing on the letter because Enny thinks they're all important enough to her to get a say in it (and she didn't want to leave a long-ass paragraph bcause of the past situation). the cactus is Carl. look they may not interact much but that doesn't mean he isn't important in her eyes.

also "The light turns green, and the car begins moving forward." oh gosh this one. it's Monster AU focusing on Fern. the unofficial title is Fern? FERN? so... oh boy. it's mostly Monster AU Fern lore, and her getting placed with Orie. also West and Fern get to talk for the first time. basically it's "I hurt Fern but she makes a friend so it's okay".

aaand "He reaches out and points to her eyes. Green looks like that. Everything you see is brown." this one's about Superhero AU Theo and Fate! how they meet each other, how they bond, how they run away, how they come up with the plan to make a global hivemind... all of it. this scene specifically is about them bonding and it's Fate using Theo's hivemind link to look through his eyes and Theo realizing she's colorblind.

Google Thu Thập Dữ Liệu Như Thế Nào?

Ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu đã thay đổi như thế nào trong 2 năm qua ?

Bài viết này sẽ cho chúng ta biết được rằng ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu đã thay đổi như thế nào trong 2 năm vừa qua. Cùng với đó là những ý nghĩa của nó đối với nỗ lực tối ưu hóa của chúng ta. Thông qua bài viết này chắc chắn chúng ta sẽ hiểu được rằng cần phải làm gì và làm như thế nào để thu thập dữ liệu có hiệu quả nhất.

Ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu là gì và tại sao nó lại quan trọng ?

Hiện nay các chương trình máy tính được thiết kế để thu thập thông tin từ các trang web của người dùng, chương trình này chính là các web spiders, crawlers hoặc gọi là các con bot. các chương trình này có thể độc hại hoặc không. Ví dụ như là các chỉ mục backlink của công ty chúng tôi được xây dựng bằng cách sử dụng một con spider được gọi là BLEXbot nhằm để thu thập dữ liệu của 7,5 tỷ trang web mỗi ngày.

Khi mà chúng tôi nói về ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu thì chắc chắn là chúng tôi đang nói về tần suất ma các công cụ tìm kiếm thông tin và thu thập dữ liệu của các trang web của chúng ta. Theo như các thông tin từ Google thì ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu chính là sự kết hợp giữa giới hạn tốc độ thu thập dữ liệu của chúng ta với nhu cầu thu thập dữ liệu của chính mình.

Chúng ta có thể tối ưu hóa ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu của mình thì có nghĩa là có thể tăng tần suất của bọ có thể ghé thăm trang web của chúng ta sau đó là thu thập thông tin và gửi các dữ liệu đó đến các thuật toán khác phụ trách việc lập chỉ mục và đánh giá chất lượng nội dung. Nói theo một cách đơn giản nhất đó chính là ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu của chúng ta càng cao thì thông tin của chúng ta sẽ được công cụ tìm kiếm cập nhật càng nhanh, đặc biệt là khi chúng ta thay đổi trang web của mình.

Bởi vì ngay cả khi chúng ta không cần cải thiện ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu của mình đi chăng nữa thì những mẹo này luôn bao gồm rất nhiều thực tiễn tốt nhằm giúp các thiện sức khỏe tổng thể của website chúng ta.

Và giống như John Mueller đã giải thích trong một chủ đề tương tự rằng lợi ích của việc có một trang web sạch sẽ hơn bao gồm các chuyển đổi cao hơn ngay cả khi chúng không được đảm bảo để tác động đến thứ hạng của trang trong SERPs.

Vậy điều gì được giữ nguyên ?

Trong Google Webmadter Hangout thì vào ngày 14/12/2018 thì John đã được hỏi về cách người ta xác định ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu của họ. Và ông này cũng đã giải thích rằng rất khó để có thể xác định được ngân sách vì đó không phải là số liệu đối ngoại. Ông Jon cũng nói thêm rằng có một vài các phần mềm thu thập dữ liệu có thể thay đổi khá nhiều thời gian. Song song đó các thuật toán của ông rất năng động và chúng phản ứng khá nhanh với những thay đổi. Và tất nhiên đó không phải là những thứ gán một lần cho website là được.

Điều này hoàn toàn đúng với những gì chúng ta biết về thu thập ngân sách trong một vài năm trở lại đây. Và tất nhiên rất nhiều thực tiễn tốt nhất nhằm có thể tối ưu hóa ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu được áp dụng như sau:

Không chặn các trang quan trọng

Chúng ta phải đảm bảo rằng các trang quan trọng của mình phải được thu thập dữ liệu đầy đủ. Song song đó chúng ta phải làm sao hướng con bot của Google ra khỏi những trang không quan trọng.

Chúng ta cũng có thể trả lại tiêu đề thẻ X-Robots-Tag của Nonoexe và hướng dẫn các spider không lập chỉ mục của trang chúng ta.

  Luôn phải bám sát với các HTML bất kỳ khi nào có thể

Đúng như vậy, Google Bot đã trở nên thông minh hơn rất nhiều trong việc thu thập các tệp dữ liệu của Javascript, Flash và XML, tuy nhiên nó vẫn phải vật lộn rất nhiều nếu muốn thu được đầy đủ dữ liệu.

Sữa lỗi HTTP

Không bao giờ để bất kỳ trang nào trong website của chúng ta bị lỗi 404  hoặc 410, vì điều này sẽ làm cho ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu của chúng ta bị hao tổn hơn rất nhiều, ngoài ra còn gây nhầm lẫn cho những người dùng đang cố gắng truy cập vào đó. Do đó chúng ta nên sửa lỗi này càng sớm càng tốt nhất có thể.

Đến đây hy vọng chúng ta đã biết chắc chắn được rằng ngân sách thu thập dữ liệu đã thay đổi như thế nào trong 2 năm vừa qua rồi phải không nào. Rất có thể sẽ còn thay đổi nhiều hơn trong những năm tiếp theo, tuy nhiên chúng ta cần phải bắt kịp xu hướng của thời đại nếu không muốn từ khóa của mình không có trong top tìm kiếm của Google nhé.
