It is here. Over seven years of waiting... And it FINALLY arrived.
Thief series will NEVER die, as long as it has such a talented, devoted fanbase!

Love going normal difficulty in Thief: Gold. Looking at expert where it says "A master thief never leaves a mess" and saying Good thing I'm a downright terrible thief. Just an absolute clown-shoes thief. Leaving bloodstains everywhere, half of its mine.
Walking up to Knock a guard out and stepping on some ceramic tile and getting roped into a fight. Hiding in a shadowy corner not realizing I have my sword out making me look really obvious. Lining up a perfect arrow shot, and shooting early so it clatters at my feet and the guards head toward me. Leaving with like a tenth of the loot in the map cheering about all the cash I've got. It's great!

Thief has had such a profound impact on my life. I cannot look at expensive candlesticks in real life and NOT want to steal them.

Part 2 of the amusing Thief walkthroughs: it-he.org/theef2.php
They have Thief 1, Thief 2, and several other games. While I have not examined those, I'm sure they contain a similar quality to the Thief ones, which are both an extremely good time to read. If you like Thief and have a bit of time to spare, I'd highly recommend reading through these.

Notice how Garrett doesn't just steal stuff that's obviously valuable, like money or gems. He also steals wine and paintings, but not all wine and not all paintings are given that 'valuable' gleam in Thief 3. Clearly, Garrett is an expert. He knows which art and which wine is valuable. He knows which years are a good vintage, he knows which painters are esteemed, he can tell a real master's painting from a bad copy even in the dim light of a torch.
I imagine that Garrett goes to bed when he gets home, then wakes up in the afternoon and starts educating himself about topics such as trends in the art world and where the tastes of the upper class are shifting, which goldsmith has a good reputation, which museum or private collector has just acquired something new. Maybe he's a "master thief" not just because he's good at sneaking, but also because he continuously educates himself about his profession, which sets him apart from the simple-minded burglars who can only snatch everything that looks shiny and don't recognize half the valuable stuff they see.

The City, the immortal enemy. We are buts its dream. But who in turn could ever conceive of such a thing?

also I love that Grover gets separated from the kids and immediately starts playing mind games with a god. he's like finally I don't have to be a good role model for a second. let's talk brutality.

“But what does Grover bring to the table? He’s just the comedy relief character.” Grover is juggling the role of babysitter, mediator, and emotional manipulator and he cracks jokes too? Give him a BREAK

The Thief series fandom is still largely based out of a vBulletin board and honestly I love that.

Athena, goddess of wisdom, and all-powerful, being the only person that Annabeth could call on for help; being so cruel that she would be complicit in her daughter's death just out of spite.
Percy, age 12, weak and dying, having told Annabeth they could never be friends; not only sacrifices himself to save Annabeth's life without a minute's thought, but does it without her having to ask for help.

If you buy Thief Gold on Steam, there can be a problem where the cutscenes don't show.
Someone I know is having that problem, so I thought I'd post here what I told them: there are a few ways this problem could be solved.
Try running Steam as an administrator. This can fix the issue, and it's the first thing you should try.
Install a patch. Specifically, TFix. If you want the fewest changes to the game or don't have space, Tfix Lite is also available on the linked page and should fix the problem. Here's the link to a post that contains both: https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134733
In the meantime or if you don't feel like messing around on your computer, the cutscenes can be found online pretty easily by searching up 'Thief 1 cutscenes' or similar phrases.
If none of these are working for you, some people have mentioned installing codecs or going into your file system. I haven't done these so I can't vouch for either, but you can find instructions for both if you so choose.
