This indicates, if explained better, that two people fitting for each other might fail to emerge when the various elements of life are against their coming together.

This is extra challenging because, by nature of things, there is tension between what we feel and what reality presents. There is almost something tragic in the beauty of having found someone incredible but at the wrong time. You're forced, then, to think that love and connection are about more than logical matches, but two lives crossing at a certain point where access and readiness are aligned.

I honestly don’t agree at all Catra’s redemption arc was rushed. Bc it was so circumstantial. For starters, she wasn’t even looking for redemption, she was literally gonna do one good thing then die. And she did die. And after she was revived she still felt like a waste, and only didn’t give up because Adora kept reassuring her. More than a redemption she had a fall out. She always hurt others to up them on her own hurt, until she decided maybe she simply wasn’t worth it. Then she started to see her value by aiding the princesses. And most of the princesses didn’t trust her at all. Perfuma didn’t like nor trust her until she saw how Catra looked at Adora, and that’s when she realized Catra wasn’t a danger. More than that, Perfuma didn’t like her until she in her head realized she gave Scorpia a second chance so why not Catra? And is not like Bow or Glimmer chose to trust her. They did it because Adora did. And they trust Adora. And Glimmer at the very least knew Catra sacrificed herself saving her.

It just feels like the whole thing was very circumstantial and it makes sense. It happened fast because they were in the middle of war. Decisions had to be made fast, and they had already seen Horde soldiers turning (like Scorpia). And every season isn’t a year. How long is the whole show, like 2 years ish? At the end of the day Adora 10000% spent more time loving and trusting Catra than fighting her. It is incredibly obvious than when she hears Catra sacrificing her life for Glimmer to do one good thing and hears her struggling that she’ll worry and that her love for Catra wouldn’t just vanish. S3 Adora was done with Catra’s shit, but not with her. She would fight her if she had to, but wouldn’t chose it. And Adora out of everyone also knows how deep Catra’s abuse and trauma ran.

People also compare Horde Prime taking over Catra vs Catra infecting the sword and making Adora fight her friends. But ultimately i think is unfair to compare, Adora was under the influence for like an hour or less, broke free on her own, and had months to get over it. By the time the series ended it had just been days since Catra got possessed, she was under the influence for days, and she actually like, DIED. Like it is confirmed she took her last breath in Adora’s arm. Like, she DIED. And she knew that risk when helping Glimmer escape. Something to keep in mind is that the last season is almost day by day vs small time jumps throughout earlier seasons. So everything is more rushed bc stakes are a lot higher and decisions had to be made a lot faster.

All in all, a key factor on Catra’s “redemption” was that it happened at the highest stake of war, and during those days she was willing to die for and with Adora multiple times. Bow didn’t forgive her bc she was “cute”. He simply trusted his friends’ judgement and went along with it bc they couldn’t risk having more enemies and needed allies at such a time. Had the series not been canceled or ended i’m sure we would have continued to see more of Catra growing and bending her mistakes. The series ended and people had just started to give her the benefit of the doubt (except for Glimmer and Bow who had spent days and multiple missions with her by the last ep). She wasn’t friends with the other princesses, they just started to come around to it. It feels rushed bc it is not quite finished, but it isn’t rushed. It was simply ended on a positive note on what was to come for her.

Did she commit war crimes? Yeah. So did Scorpia, Hordak, and Entrampta. All for different reasons, all did it nonetheless. Double Trouble too. Only thing they didn’t do that Catra did was pull the portal open in s3. And that was her like actual literally losing her mind, which comes crashing down on her in s4. She absolutely had consequences and repercussions from it. And honestly it was almost a suicide attempt on her part, taking everyone with her. S4 Catra is the worst Catra for sure. Only thing that saddens me truly and only thing I agree was rushed was her and Scorpia, bc Scorpia doesn’t quite know yet the sacrifices Catra had done to support the princesses. So that was 1000% due to the time restraints they had with the show. All that said, Catra and Adora make perfect sense and their arc wasn’t rushed. They weren’t in an abusive relationship bc most of the show they weren’t together. They were enemies. Even if they loved each other there was no relationship. Both were fighting to survive. Until in s3-4 Catra lost it. Which again, came crashing down.

I also think Catra never fought against adora with the intent to kill until specific moments where she was losing it, same as Adora never fighting Catra for real until specific moments too when both were at it. But s5 is when Catra realized Adora might actually truly die unless she did something, and that’s when she snapped and decided to risk her life to help Adora. She didn’t expect them to rescue her at all. Anyways i have more thoughts honestly but i have class djfjjfjf
