can we bring back showing up to gigs at reasonable hour? I used to be able to turn up hour before the doors open and there would be only handfull of ppl (depends on the band) and now some ppl show up at some ungodly night hours and wait 12+ hours… for gig?! I would accept this for Harry Styles (even there I don’t think it’s completly okay) but I’ve seen people wait since midnight in freezing cold for Joker out?! and the capacity was like 1k… don’t y’all have work? or school? And if you traveled for the gig don’t you have a better way to spent time in a new city?

One thing I've been seeing a lot of recently that, quite honestly, really pisses me off, is people complaining about concertgoers who actually want to sit in their seats instead of stand/dance the whole concert. I have seen a lot of people saying that they are "bringing the vibe down," should just not come if they don't want to stand/dance, or that it's annoying because they don't want to feel guilty for standing in front of those people (if you feel guilty about it, maybe there's a reason). And I've seen a lot of- "Who even goes to a concert to sit, anyway?" So I will answer that question. For one, disabled people, like me.
Now, personally, I have a problem with the lack of accessible seating at the venues, not specifically with people who want to stand/dance (though if you are someone who complains about other people sitting because you don't like that vibe, I think you need to think long and hard about the inherit ableism of that complaint), standing and dancing is a totally valid way to want to experience a concert, and I don't want to take that option away from anyone. However, in my experience, concert venues are genuinely terrible about providing truly accessible seating. The "accessible" seats (which to most venues seems to exclusively mean you can get a wheelchair there) are often on the floor, and as soon as the rest of the crowd stands up, any visibility of the stage is gone. Those of us who are unable to stand don't have any choice about this ("If you want to see, stand up, too. The artists encourage people to dance!" is a comment I have heard frequently when this topic comes up), which is frustrating when you're at a show for an artist you're excited to see and that just becomes an impossibility for you.
There are so many overlapping issues here, including, but not limited to- the fact that wheelchair accessibility is not the only accommodation needed by many people, the fact that there are rarely (if ever) any sections that require people to sit and therefore meaning that visibility is frequently limited or non-existent to people who are unable to stand (for whatever reason, be that age, health, injury, etc.), the fact that many of us are both publicly shamed for sitting (because we are not perceived as disabled) AND publicly shamed if we access any kind of accommodation (because we are not perceived as disabled), and the fact that "accessible" seating is often incredibly limited to begin with.
Anyway, my intent is not to shame people who like to stand and dance during concerts (I would love to be one of you), but to remind people that your experience through life is not anyone or everyone else's and it's important to take a mental step back and consider an experience outside of your own. And also to remind people that concert venues are often incredibly inaccessible and do very little to create genuinely accessible spaces.
P.S. People are allowed to sit if they want to, even if they are completely capable of standing and dancing. They do not owe you a specific "vibe" and there is more than one way to enjoy live music.

TS3 Tips and Tricks: How to Get Tons of Sims at Venues
I saw a forum thread recently from someone asking how to boost crowds at venues. Briefly, here are some tips and tricks that I learned:
Have lots of "party animal" sims in town
Sims with the party animal trait show up the most at Late Night venues, so it helps to populate your town with them.
Have many large roomie households consisting of "singles" in your world (like 6-8 sims). The reason why you want to do this is that households are called to a lot, not individual sims. When a household is called, the game will always try to call as many sims that are available. So, for instance, if a dive bar calls an 8-sim household named "Party Crashers", and four of them are at home at the time, those four will show up. If the bar then calls a 6-sim household called "Living Single" and three of the roommates are available, those three will show up. Now, imagine that a third household is called, and four members show up. That's 11 sims right there!
Get the idea? I have had as many as 20 sims show up using this method.
Tumblr media
Don't build too many venues and parks, especially if you have a low population town. I think this is pretty common sense advice. Obviously, if you only have around 30 sims in your town, you won't see a lot of packed venues if you build tons of venues.
Only visit hotspots The game deliberately turns venues into cold spots so that everyone in town shows up at the hotspot. So, if you keep visiting coldspots, it will always seem as if every place is empty.
That's all there is to it. I have heard people say that you need mods and such to have packed venues, but I've never had such a hard time with this issue as to need them.

Edinburgh Castle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Edinburgh Castle is located in Edinburgh, Scotland. The castle construction began in the 12th century with St. Margaret’s Chapel. Built on an extinct volcanic mountain, it is one of the oldest fortified places in Europe. The structure served as a military stronghold and a Royal residence, while parts remain in military use. Throughout its history, the castle suffered many sieges and changed hands numerous times. The castle is the most besieged place in Britain. The castle’s defenses evolved over time, with a Half Moon Battery built after a siege in 1573, armed with bronze guns known as the Seven Sisters, while more guns defended the Argyle Battery. Edinburgh Castle was home to many kings and queens. Queen Margaret, who was later made a saint, died there in 1093. The Great Hall was completed in 1511 for King James IV to host banquets and events. Mary Queen of Scots gave birth to her son James VI in 1566, and he became king of Scotland at 13 months old and united the crowns of England and Scotland in 1603. No one lives at the castle. Since the 17thcentury, it’s been used as a military base. Over 600 soldiers were housed in the New Barracks during the Napoleonic Wars with France, while hundreds of prisoners were locked in the vaults. The oldest Crown jewels in Britain are on display in the Crown Room. The castle is open to the public and has a tea room and a café.

RONNIE RADKE's take against the venues' merch cut got a huge echo in the media and on social sites as well. Many praise Ronnie and call him a hero, like they do in these videos on TikTok...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...and some are more or less unbiased, speaking about the facts, like we saw RockFeed news in a previous post.
Meanwhile in the Instagram comments Ronnie is just being Ronnie again 🤣🤣❤️❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Via Instagram
Even though supporting rock bands over the greedy venues, which Ronnie represents, is kind of common sense, there still are journalists who find their way to throw some implied shit on him. This junk news below uses hate terms like "profanity-laced" and "tirade", while Ronnie's standing up talk was nothing even close to that.
Overall the dice is thrown, and something has to happen after all this back and forth talking about it. Ronnie might not set a self-organized festival in 2024 yet, he will definitely pick band-friendly venues for his yearly, own, headlining tour. Hopefully there soon will be a competition between the venues as well, for getting the bands for concerts, at least that's how it should be.

Eilean Donan Castle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eilean Donan Castle is located on an island in Loch Duich, Scotland. The first fortified, defensive structure was built in this area by King Alexander II or III in the early 13th century to protect against Viking invaders who controlled much of the area from 800-1266. Over the centuries, the castle was expanded and even decreased in size in the 14th century, but the original medieval castle was large and nearly covered the entire island with its towers and curtain wall. The 16th century saw the installation of hornwork added to the east wall as canons were introduced. Having played a role in the Jacobite risings of the 17th and 18th centuries, the castle was eventually taken by three armed frigates, and the barrels of gunpowder stored there were used to destroy the structure. Partially destroyed and abandoned for nearly 200 years, the island was purchased by Lt Colonel John MacRae-Gilstrap in 1911, and reconstruction of the castle began. The castle was completed in 1932, along with an arched bridge to the island. In 1955, it was opened to the public by MacRae-Gilstrap’s grandson. The castle has a holiday cottage for guests, a gift shop, a visitor center, and a café. Eilean Donan Castle serves as a museum, a venue, and a film location.
