He smiles nervously while sitting down and says, "It’s so formal, isn’t it? And I do kind of know you…?" He looks down sorrowfully. "Haven’t had much choice, really." He smiles sadly at Jon and says, "Dreams are like that, you know. No matter how lucid you think they are..."

A close-up of Oliver shows his troubled expression, staticky eyes, and the faint black veins across his face as he says, "There’s always that part that just drags you along." We see Jon in bed, and Oliver says pensively, "Guess I don’t need to tell you that. At least, not right now." End ID]

I dont think I've seen any posts about this, so I'll ramble about it. In season 4, when Jon is in hospital, we hear the ticking of the clock in his room. It's the first time we hear this sound, and it's not present anywhere else

EXCEPT, when we get to Martin's statements later in the season, when he is going into the Lonely, there is this same ticking. Martin's perception of the Lonely has the same background noise as the hospital room where Jon lay during his coma. That's the first place Martin felt so truly alone that it started to affect him, and that sound just keeps hauting him throughout the entire season

don’t have the words to elaborate it so well rn but it’s so ironic that the cult of the lightless flame relied so much on their hope on agnes, their hope that their ritual would succeed, the hope that their sacrifices would pay off. they clung to that almost desperately, whilst the desolation is about the loss of that and having nothing left. in a way they ended up like their victims because this is what they cared about and they lost it. they lost whilst clinging to the thing they swore to take from everyone and everything, and got surprised that bit them in the ass.

i know this is more complicated and more related to fear of loss, and that rituals wouldn’t work either way — plus this is me at 3AM thinking about this — but still. i still like thinking about the ironic tragedy of their entire concept. it’s personally fascinating. idk

Scattered thoughts about mag 122 (Zombie) because I have so many of them

Georgie sat at Jon’s side for 6 months just to tell him that she doesn’t have faith in his humanity. Icon.

Basira grabbed a statement about zombies to bring to her dead boss

Her dead boss woke up to read his zombie statement

Oh my god this statement giver makes me want to scream

The way she definitely *did* have an interaction with the stranger but she’s also so antisocial that her assumption about everyone being hollow and having nothing behind their eyes could also just be the apathy towards the feelings of others she described at the beginning of her statement

Sometimes it’s the spiral but sometimes people are just. Regular human bad at human interactions and suffering from delusions

Jon canonically has bad fashion taste according to Basira and I think that’s important

Jon declines Basira’s offer for water before reading a statement but asked for water after. Reading statements makes you thirsty, canon

*THE WAY JON’S VOICE GETS SMOOTHER AS HE READS THE STATEMENT*

The way mr jarchivist was breathing and able to talk but chose not to until the girls started talking about tape recorders

He's so funny specifically because he's very dramatic but he pretends everyone else is being dramatic.

Some examples:

(when Jon threatens to quit unless Elias let's him explore the creepy tunnels) "Good Lord, Jon, don't be so dramatic. You know how difficult it would be to replace you."

(regarding murder) "I may have... Overreacted"

*getting beaten up* "Detective, *wheeze* this is unnecessary"

That time Elias told Jon Melanie was trying to kill him in his tired manager voice.
