Here's an interview with Toby Ascher where he talks about the production of the Knuckles series. Here are some highlights:
- From the beginning they made the decision to slowly roll out the game characters, so they could each be introduced in an organic way.
- One of their favorite things about the first movie was the "wild card/straight man" relationship between Sonic and Tom. With "Knuckles" the idea was to make a buddy comedy with two wild cards, where neither is necessarily the straight man.
- The series is inspired by 90's comedies like "Happy Gilmore" and "Kingpin". In the second episode Wade says "I'm Munsoned out here in the middle of nowhere" which is a reference to Woody Harrelson's character in "Kingpin", Roy Munson.
- They like showing how every entry in the franchise is affected by the events of the previous one. The destruction to San Francisco from the first movie led to GUN being created. And in the series we see how all the rings and quills that Sonic and Knuckles left around the world in the sequel are being collected and studied by GUN to make weapons.

Knuckles (prod. John Whittington).
Comedian Adam Pally and the voice of Idris Elba star in this amusing and entirely insubstantial Sonic the Hedgehog series spin-off of a road trip buddy comedy. Structured as basically a sidequest between supporting characters off on their own fun but unimportant mission, their wacky hijinx serves to mine deadpan humour between the mismatched pair, contrasting the ultra-serious alien echidna cartoon character with the dim-witted small-town deputy sheriff.

Note
"The reality was they had to essentially animate three hours of story instead of two (like the films) in just a year" gives me the implication that each episode will be a half hour long, thus three hours from six episodes
Hello, my dear!❤️✨
All six episodes are roughly between 45 minutes to an hour (Entertainment Identifier Registry, 2024). We are definitely going to get some Knuckles content! Six hours worth is very, very generous.🤩

In an interview with @GamesRadar, #SonicMovie3 producer Toby Ascher confirms the entry “takes a lot from Sonic Adventure 2.” Ascher also told @GamesRadar that #Sonic 3 is “probably the most exciting thing we’ve done in the franchise.” #SonicNews

Toby Ascher on more future Sonic spin-offs.
Also, Knuckles is the most watched TV show on Paramount Plus. It’s also look like the show will be available on Blu-Ray. It’s already available to pre-order it.

Also, I think Shadow might take Knuckles’ bike and turn it into the Dark Rider, since Wade and Knuckles ride the motorcycle to their home in the end of the show.

The live-action Knuckles series starring Idris Elba at Paramount+ has assembled its cast.
In addition to Elba reprising the role of Knuckles from Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Adam Pally is set to star in the series, once again playing the role of Wade Whipple from the film franchise.
The film takes place between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which is slated to hit theaters Dec. 20, 2024. In the series, Knuckles “agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior,” per the official logline.
Edi Patterson (“The Righteous Gemstones”), Julian Barratt (“Mindhorn”), Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi), and Ellie Taylor (“Ted Lasso”) will recur in the series. Rory McCann (“Game of Thrones”) will guest star, as will Tika Sumpter, reprising the role of Maddie from the films. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Production on the series is now underway in London. John Whittington, who worked on the screenplay for “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” wrote the pilot for “Knuckles” and serves as head writer and executive producer on the series. Brian Schacter and James Madejski are also writers.
Jeff Fowler, who directed both “Sonic the Hedgehog” films, will direct the pilot episode and executive produce the series. Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher of Original Film and Toru Nakahara — all members of the films’ creative team — serve as executive producers, as does Elba. Ged Wright, Brandon Trost, Jorma Taccone, and Carol Banker are also directing episodes. Paramount Pictures and Sega of America produce.

One thing I'm hoping for in Sonic 3 is Tails having the same color-coded electricity and glowy eye power as Sonic and Knuckles (and Shadow too I guess). I can excuse this not happening in the last movie 'cause he was just starting out in the field compared to the fastest creature and most dangerous warrior in the galaxy, but as producer Toby Ascher put it in a Tails-focused bonus feature for home media, "in our franchise, he is the only one who's maybe close to the level of smarts of Robotnik", so it'd be kinda odd if he was the only major alien character not to have this power.
I think, given the fact that Shadow is most likely going to go toe-to-toe against Sonic (and most likely get the upper hand) we may see some power-up cycling going in with Tails in his older brother's defense.
Shadow will have bested both Knux and Sonic, and he pretty much disregards Tails because he's a kid and "not a threat". But this kid is finally in a family that loves and cares for him, and if Shadow even THINKS about hurting any of them, well, Tails is gonna hand that hog his ass. The kid may not really be big on defending himself, but when it comes to those he loves--watch out.

Movie Sonic -- Donut
Tumblr media
Welp, more Sonic art!
Here is another Sonic the Hedgehog artwork, but the movie this time, with Sonic with a donut 🍩
I did a first attempt on drawing movie Sonic and decided to use my watercolor paint to color him, but that didn't work out well lol. So I drew this again and used colored pencils this time.
Since I got the second movie, I'll be able to watch it after the first! :D!!!

Knuckles Premiere Numbers Is Setting Records for Paramount+
Tumblr media
Video game adaptations have performed incredibly well over the past few years. The latest additions to the genre include Fallout on Amazon Prime and Knuckles on Paramount+. The latter is doing especially well, and we aren’t surprised. After the intense success of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, the streaming spin-off is a hit. The Knuckles streaming numbers have set a record for an opening weekend at Paramount+. Let’s dive into these numbers and why it’s doing so well! How Did The Knuckles Streaming Numbers Get So High? Knuckles, created by John Whittington and Toby Ascher, is based on the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog game series by Sega. This new show is a direct spin-off from recent films, including Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022), and follows the character Knuckles the Echidna, voiced by Idris Elba. Knuckles has to train the new deputy sheriff, Wade Whipple, as an apprentice, preparing him for a Reno bowling tournament. The first film earned an impressive $319 million, which was especially a big deal in its release year 2020. The sequel scored an additional $405 million. A third film will be released in December of 2024, and we expect it to perform just as well. The success comes from various factors, including the recent love for video game adaptations. It’s an amazing era for the genre and will continue with future adaptations like Borderlands later this summer. Another factor is the franchise pulling in fans of all ages, including those who grew up playing Sonic and children just getting introduced to the characters. What Do The Numbers Look Like? The Knuckles streaming numbers come from the six-episode series. So far, it has earned over 4 million hours of worldwide viewing within 3 days of its premiere. This is a huge record for the streaming service. The show will likely continue to thrive, with millions more subscribers who could watch the show. The show's reviews are also largely positive, and Knuckles has an average of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes. In addition to the happy numbers for Knuckles, it has also brought more attention to the movies. Both films gain views, increasing their overall streaming numbers in a massive wave. What Comes Next? So far, Knuckles has not received a renewal for season 2. Based on these numbers, though, we’d be surprised if it didn’t happen. Regardless of what happens, we can expect to see more Sonic in the 2024 film. Have you watched the series yet? Are you contributing to the Knuckles streaming numbers? Let us know what you think about the show in the comments! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzoeudnoXDo Read the full article

MYSTERY BEN TALKS ABOUT SONIC 3
Tumblr media
Oh, wow! Look at this! I’ll make a bullet point of the things that Ben talks about in terms of the film:
In terms of Sonic Cinematic Universe, Toby Ascher “has such a beautiful idea of what to do with this whole thing, so if you ever get little tidbits out of him you’re winning.”
Ben has played a handful of Sonic Adventure 2 levels in preparation of the film. He’s watched a play-through of SA2 (after getting stuck on Knuckles’ level on Switch) and was in awe of the story, even stating that he loved its cinematic feel.
Based on Ben’s gameplay and the play-through, he’s confident that the movie uses SA2 as the main inspiration. He also makes it a point in saying that other games are evident in the film as well.
Ben cannot talk about who voices Shadow, but guarantees that we’ll be very pleased.
Though he’s 100% with his scripted lines, he’s combing through footage to add some improved lines to select scenes.
Shadow’s intro—and character development—in the film continues to be Ben’s favorite. He finds it extraordinary and grew to love the character.
Ben’s very excited to bring more Sonic characters into the franchise. He loves to watch them grow up.
Ben is hopeful that the success of the third film will lead another film/spinoff. He also states that he will continue to voice “Sonic” for as long as the franchise is alive. He also shares his love for Colleen O'Shaughnessey as “Tails.”
Ben shares that the third film is enormous! He also states that he’s under a strict NDA (along with other members of the crew) and cannot talk about the film and upcoming SCU projects.
