What’s New in Angular 14: Updates, Features, More!
Tumblr media
Have you heard about the latest announcement by Google?
Here is some amazing news for Angular developers!
After Angular 13’s earlier success, Google finally released Angular 14 on June 2, 2022. Angular 14 is one of the most methodical improvements that have been pre-planned based on all previous release notes. It includes typed reactive forms, CLI auto compilation, directives, and a developer glimpse of independent components.
Here is a sneak peek at the newest features and upgrades of Angular 14 from Angular developers in Edinburgh:
What is so new about Angular 14?
The most well-known TypeScript-based release from Google for web development, Angular 14 is the most recent TypeScript 4.7 update. As Angular 14 by default targets ES2020, the CLI may deliver less code without needing to descend in level.
According to Angular and TypeScript developers, it is not as simple to comprehend. It uses the Angular framework as it is a part of React framework. As a result, Angular 14 has created independent components to do away with the need for modules. As a consequence, it takes less time to build a boilerplate and deploy a straightforward Angular application.
It has, however, added all the significant changes and features that the previous versions lacked. Without further ado, let’s get to the features of Angular 14 for web app development in Edinburgh, UK.
Features of Angular 14
The newest version of Angular 14, version 14 has the following key features:
Angular CLI Auto-Completion
If you are planning to hire an Angular developer, you may have had the opportunity to use Angular CLI in a prior iteration. You might also concur that providing the necessary instructions to produce project artifacts like components, packages, and directives, increases productivity. Although you have access to a number of commands, you nearly always need to consult the official text in order to locate commands and, more precisely, command parameters. The arrival of Angular 14 has made this option less necessary, which is a plus.
Real-time type-ahead auto-completion in the console is made possible by Angular 14’s new functionalities in the CLI. You must first run the ng completion command on your terminal to accomplish that. If you’re operating on an Angular 14 project, you have much more auto-completion possibilities, such as the ng create command options. Simply enter ng, press Tab to view all of the options, then Enter to choose one.
Strictly Typed Forms
The most often requested improvement for Angular on GitHub has strictly typed forms. It would enhance its model-driven framework for dealing with forms.
For the first time, FormControl now takes a generic type that specifies the kind of value it stores. The Angular team built an automated migration into Angular v14 to make sure that existing apps wouldn’t stop working after the update. As long as API complexity is considered, changes must be delivered easily and the ecosystem must not be destroyed. The excellent news is that the template-based form won’t be affected by this new update.
Standalone Components
The major goal is to change the current state of affairs by producing artifacts like components, pipelines, and directives. Angular published an RFC (Request for Comments) on independent components to make NgModules optional.
In order to retain compatibility with the present environment of Angular-based libraries and apps, modules will thus be made optional rather than completely outmoded. Every component required to be coupled with a module in earlier versions of Angular. Therefore, each component has to be present in the declarations array of the parent module. If not, the application will be a major failure.
Streamlined Page Title Accessibility
Your page title will affect how the information on your page is displayed when creating and building apps. Regarding Angular 13, the new Route title in the Angular router simplified adding titles. However, providing a title to your page doesn’t call for any new imports to be included in Angular 14.
Enhanced Template Diagnostics
Better template inspections included in Angular 14’s most recent release enable Angular developers to be shielded from common mistakes by the compiler, much like TypeScript code is. In the earlier version, Angular 13 and older, the compiler does not produce any warnings. And it only refuses to construct when a flaw exists that would otherwise make it impossible for it to do so.
Minor mistakes can easily result in warnings. Erroneous two-way binding syntax or the inclusion of additional operators like ‘??’ when the variable is not nullable. Diagnostic tests that generate warnings or information problems for user patterns that aren’t always deadly would be available with the inclusion of a privately owned compiler option.
Others:
Optional Injectors: As per Angular developers in Edinburgh, you need to use an optional injector to define the embedded version of Angular. You can use ViewContainerRef.createEmbeddedView and TemplateRef.createEmbeddedView
Angular DevTools: You may utilize the Angular DevTools debugging plugin when in offline mode. Users of Firefox may find the plugin under Mozilla’s Add-ons.
How to Install Angular 14?
Angular has developed a number of excellent Angular utilities. So, all you have to do to install Angular is use npm to download Angular v14.
Simply run the CLI’s following command: npm install –global @angular/cli@next
You may quickly install the most recent version of Angular CLI on your PC by using this command and use it for web app development in Edinburgh, UK. Further, you can upgrade your Angular application to Angular v14 – https://update.angular.io/
Should We Use Angular 14?
The development of Angular apps has been simpler with the inclusion of independent components in Angular 14. The TypeScript-based framework is improved as a result of the efforts of the Angular developer community. It now enables web developers to keep up with the demands of their users and the rest of the online ecosystem. Now that you’re aware of the most recent Angular 14 features and enhancements, it’s time to switch to Angular 14! So what are you waiting for? Hire Angular developers in Edinburgh, UK right now.

The Cambridge Family in 2021 ♛
What another strange year! We started off with another lockdown, followed it up with the Oprah interview, and ended with Omicron. Despite everything, the Cambridges have managed to have a fulfilled, albeit slow, year. The Duchess of Cambridge’s Hold Still book was finally released, and Catherine went on to have a number of phone calls with the finalists (x x x x x x). The finalist she had the biggest relationship was none other than little Mila Sneddon, who we saw throughout the year. Hold Still wasn’t the Duchess’s only project - she launched the Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood in the summer, which will go on to conduct more research into the early years of childhood. Towards the end of the year, Catherine also hosted a Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey to thank those who have worked hard throughout the pandemic so far. The Duke of Cambridge also developed one particular project this year. Earthshot flourished and the inaugural Earthshot Prize was aired on the BBC and viewed as a huge success. He also wrote the foreword for Earthshot: How to Save Our Planet. The Cambridges also continued to find their feet as diplomats, attending the G7 summit and COP26, as well as undertaking a royal visit to Scotland in the wake of another rumble about independence. During their trip, the Cambridges’ visited their alma mater, the University of St Andrews, which was particularly sweet as this year also saw them celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary, with new photos and a sweet video released. As always, the year saw the Cambridges at various sporting events, from a number of visits to Wimbledon to appearances during England’s run at the 2020 Euros (where Prince George made a number of appearances). Prince Louis finally started nursery and the Cambridges gained two nieces, in the form of Lili Mountbatten-Windsor and Grace Matthews. Of course, the year wasn’t all plain sailing. Catherine was ‘pinged’ by the NHS app in July and had the miss a number of engagements as she had to isolate. In April, the Duke of Edinburgh passed away after a long illness. Despite everything, the Cambridges had a satisfying and successful year, if quiet and not what they would have planned, and one I dearly hope they top next year.

Careless whispers
In a previous post we mentioned the story of the infamous conflict between King Henry II and Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury, in 12th century England. It’s a familiar story of two powerful and egotistical men clashing over issues of status and pride. After a series of altercations over clerical privilege, Henry finally loses his temper; what he actually said to the assembled courtiers has been lost to history, but the most likely version comes from the biographer-monk Edward Grim, who recorded it as follows:
What miserable drones and traitors have I nourished and brought up in my household, who let their lord be treated with such shameful contempt by a low-born cleric?
Whatever Henry said, four of his knights (Richard le Breton, Reginald FitzUrse, Hugh de Morville, and William de Tracy) interpreted the utterance as a royal command. They rode to the Normandy coast, took ship for England, and confronted the Archbishop. What happened next was described by the aptly named Grim, who was on the scene and actually wounded in the attack:
The wicked knight, fearing lest Becket should be rescued by the people and escape alive, leapt upon him suddenly and wounded this lamb who was sacrificed to God, cutting off the top of the crown which the sacred unction of the chrism had dedicated to God.
More terrible blows followed, and eventually the Archbishop succumbed. Was the king’s statement interpreted correctly? We’ll never know. But we can perhaps read parallels to our own time in the complex motivations and agendas that informed the knights’ collective decision to commit murder.
Tumblr media
Another story, more recent. This one takes place in Dallas, Texas, where a six-year-old girl asked her family’s Amazon Echo: ‘Alexa, can you play dollhouse with me and get me a dollhouse?’ Alexa promptly complied, ordering a $300 KidKraft Sparkle Mansion doll’s house from one of Amazon’s suppliers. She also ordered (for reasons known only to the internal logic of the system) nearly two kilograms of sugar cookies. The story doesn’t stop there: the following day, when a San Diego news programme reported the story, a number of Echos were roused by the wake word ‘Alexa’ coming from proximate television sets, and they in turn followed the command to also purchase dolls’ houses.
What inspired Alexa to order the biscuits? A flawed system or a very smart one?
Tumblr media
In 560 BC, King Croesus of Lydia set a challenge to the world’s oracles to determine who provided the most accurate prophecies. His emissaries were sent to seven sites to ask the resident oracle what the king was doing at that precise moment. The winner was the Oracle of Delphi, who correctly reported that the king was making a lamb-and-tortoise stew.
Oracles were seen as conduits to the gods, speaking and giving advice on their behalf. Divination came in many other forms: augurers would follow the flight paths of birds (legend has it that the location of Rome was decided through this approach). Haruspices would read the entrails of sacrificed animals. Today, however, reading the future is much less exotic or gruesome, being mostly about data and statistics.
Tumblr media
The next story starts back to front. A man walks into a Target outside Minneapolis and demands to see the manager. He’s got a handful of targeted coupons that had been sent to his teenage daughter, and he’s angry. ‘My daughter got this in the mail!’ he said. ‘She’s still in high school, and you’re sending her coupons for baby clothes and cribs? Are you trying to encourage her to get pregnant?’ In fact the daughter actually is pregnant. Target knows it before the girl’s father, thanks to a hunch based on its analysis of online searches and product purchases - in this case a particular lotion often used by pregnant women in the second trimester.
Tumblr media
One more story. In happier times for Facebook, the social media giant played a significant - if unevenly distributed and still debated - role in the Arab Spring by facilitating communication between protesters. The April 6 Youth Movement in Egypt, for example, used Facebook to launch a successful call for protests in the aftermath of the Tunisian Revolution that preceded the spread of uprisings across North Africa and the Middle East in 2011-12. Events of the Arab Spring demonstrated that social networks provide a perfect mechanism through which to disseminate information broadly and quickly, as long as you have access to the internet.
Tumblr media
So far this is a familiar and well-trodden tale; the more interesting story, however, happened when Arab states began to shut down internet access. Activists in Cairo found the solution in a different kind of social network - not screen-based, but via the city's taxi drivers. The activists realised that if they could direct conversations towards the planned anti-Mubarak gathering on 25 January 2011 in Tahrir Square, taxi drivers might spread the word and the protest would be a success. Initially, the activists tried to talk directly to drivers.
But they soon discovered that due to the highly politicised nature of their subject, conversations would quickly turn into arguments rather than dissemination, and their objective would fail. The solution was found in exploiting the human tendency to gossip. Instead of engaging in direct conversation, the activists allowed the taxi drivers to overhear a mobile phone conversation where they would disclose the details of the protests. The taxi drivers eavesdropped, and believing they had overheard a gossip-worthy secret, they began to spread the message.

‘Technology is making gestures precise and brutal, and thereby human beings.’ - Adorno
In one of our very first posts, The Pleasures of Prediction, we described the daily experience at our local cafe - where the gestures of interaction were not always precise, sometimes brutal (depending on the mood of either ourselves or the people behind the counter), but mostly genial and surprisingly seamless. More recently, our colleague was telling us how his landlady keeps track of the number of bottles of alcohol he consumes each week by counting his recycling - a sort of small island version of a fitness tracker like the Fitbit. ‘She’s not judgemental’, he said. ‘Well … not really.’ Of course surveillance and tracking - mediating, amplifying, interpreting - have always been present in society; in the past they were just more social, or at least more analogue.
These examples raise some big questions, such as: Would you rather be monitored by a human being or a machine? If machine, why? Why don’t we trust humans? For that matter, why don’t we trust ourselves? How have we been shown to be untrustworthy and unable to control our own self-destructive or anti-social impulses? For the past two years we have been collecting stories that relate to the interpretation of information - tracing the shift from human beings to technological mediation as translator and interpreter; who is making important decisions, on whose behalf, and why.
There is certainly precision and brutality in Cambridge Analytica’s use of Facebook data for micro-targeting and psychological profiling. Likewise Amazon Echo, a data-based Trojan horse mediating our personal lives in increasingly precise but also brutal ways. There is a tendency to understand and evaluate technology according to old-fashioned notions of progress: faster, easier, more efficient and so on. But digitisation, the data that it creates, and the vast networks of dissemination also facilitate the augmenting of darker aspects of human behaviour, targeting our deepest vulnerabilities. How we examine the implications, embrace the ethics, and understand the complexity of these systems are some of the fundamental challenges we face.
Real Prediction Machines
Shortly before the Echo appeared on the market in 2014, Real Prediction Machines addressed many of the issues Amazon’s new device (and others like it) would raise. The speculative project was developed by James Auger in collaboration with designer Jimmy Loizeau, artist Alan Murray, and Edinburgh University data scientist Ram Ramamoorthy, who at the time was developing predictive modelling systems combined with machine learning to predict when professional athletes might sustain an injury through overtraining.
Tumblr media
James, Jimmy and Alan began by asking Ram what kind of other things might be predictable through such techniques, such as ‘Will my child become a professional football player’, ‘Will Labour win the next general election’, and ‘Will I suffer a heart attack?’ The words inside the circles of the Bayesian network diagram represent potential variables. In relation to a heart attack they could correspond to something like diet or exercise, the data coming from a supermarket loyalty card, or the accelerometer in your smartphone. Or more finite information such as family history, for example data coming from a genetic testing service like 23andMe.
These variables combine to create a live and ongoing feed into the predictive algorithm. The heart attack example seemed a little too banal due to its obvious connection to wellbeing and the huge growth of data and tracking methods, so the group suggested another question to Ram: Will I have a domestic argument?
Tumblr media
The Bayesian network shown above looks similar to the earlier one, but in this instance a microphone was added for live sound input (anticipating the omnipresent Echo). Using machine learning, the system would become better at predicting arguments through the statistical analysis of keywords, tone, and frequency - identifying particular subjects that a couple might commonly fight about.
The output was translated into an object - not an app but something more symbolic, sympathetic. They settled on an ambient device sitting in the background, providing information when you might need it.
The device essentially has three states:
Clockwise means that the argument is moving into the future;
Anti-clockwise means that the argument is approaching, and the slower the rotation the more imminent it is;
When the rotating stops, the argument starts.
Projects like Real Prediction Machines work when it is not completely clear whether the idea is a ‘good’ one or not. Is it too invasive? Is it genuinely helpful? This is how we should think about all potential technologies, but we rarely do.
What happens next? How far away are we from Alexa ordering not biscuits, but a councillor? How much control will we have in the future, and how much do we want to have?

Did you ignore it and move on because getting the answer wouldn't be worth asking it? Well, this thread is here for you! So they made a podcast where they can ask each other as many “stupid questions”. ' (There's) no such thing as a stupid question' is a popular phrase with a long history. Microsoft Gold Competency Partner for Dynamics 365 in UK
What is Microsoft Dynamics 365?
Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a smart business application plan from Microsoft that involves connections to run all parts of your activities and deliver truly improved results through man-made brainpower experiences. Dynamics 365 covers the conventional degree of ERP and CRM and grows well beyond areas that were not considered until long ago. There is Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP for small and medium affiliations, Dynamics 365 Finance and SCM for tremendous partnerships, Customer
Responsibility, sales, marketing, customer service, field service, project service automation (PSA), and human resources capabilities - all pieces of the Dynamics 365 suite in constant unforeseen development. Close to the Dynamics 365 suite are the different parts of the Power stage that develop the power of Dynamics 365 in a radical way.
It is a start to finish joining all Microsoft ERP, CRM and BI suites and is perhaps the best business stage. Generally works on any gadget like MAC / Windows / Android with solid and secure Microsoft cloud advancement. It is a supervised or encouraged approach to getting all business tasks done by putting everything on a modified plan that depends on the essence of both the company and the customer.
 Why Microsoft Dynamics 365?
Once you've chosen Dynamics 365 for your alliance, you should finish the edge plan that best suits your issues the same way. But a growing group of customers take "on the web" as their default design model, they have different alternatives. Your business and administrative foundations, close to the limit of your foundation and the capabilities of social events, will affect your choice.
The variety of Microsoft Dynamics 365 may be your strongest advance yet on the Digital Transformation excursion. Parts 365 has packages that bring all aspects of your business together. These parts work autonomously, many equivalent to with a consistent mix.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a completely changed open door where you can work at your own pace and use whatever application you need and continue adding depending on the circumstances.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 in the cloud presents you with the best security framework in Microsoft Azure. Be it real security on worker farms, network availability, access controls, support gadgets and insurance against contamination and malware attacks. Purplish blue security is a form against what can be developed for a nearby establishment. Just when you use from the cloud, you simply get compensated for the licenses you have within your enlistment on a month-to-month basis. It can be adapted to go up or down. The Finance and SCM partitions have essentials for 20 clients on any occasion.
D365 allows you to have "endless experiences" in various aspects of your business. Data on Customers, Customer Service, Sales, etc. they allow you to reliably keep your business productive.
 MICROSOFT DYNAMICS 365 PARTNERS
At an expert lead company, association, or demo, Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises) encourages you to make yourself easier and more motivated from your customer insights. Since trades and associations are made up in a single development, salespeople can solve any interesting attendance problems, so they are not caught sleeping when they struggle to complete deals. Also, if a customer demands help, the customer service agent can see that there is a critical plan ahead and handle the guest depending on the situation.
With Customer Engagement LOB apps, you'll have the option of sensing and responding to issues that can interfere with plans, assessing how your partnership group is dealing with its ultimate tier nuances, and tracking your ongoing endeavors much more.
While you don't need to look at information bases, in any case, Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises) is useful for some things about how information is created in a structure. In particular, you should think of two definitions, as they are used at various points in development: they form the genre consistently.
You will continually work with different customer records and record types as customers travel through their business estimates, gathering the information they need to fill in the fields for their records - in conclusion, to win in your business.
To mount your business profitably and sufficiently, you need a Microsoft Dynamics 365 master and before choosing the best Dynamics partner, you must have a real assessment.
Now that you know what is Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Partners, Lets talk about Top Microsoft Dynamics 365 Partners in UK with  Gold Competency.

Top Rated Text To Speech Software For Mac?
Tumblr media
The Best Free Text-to-Speech Software app downloads for Mac: Voice TextSpeech Pro Elements Toau SpeechMirror Speechissimo Listen Later. The Best Free Text-to-Speech Software app downloads for Mac. There are many free text to speech software available in the market. Most of these software work almost the same way – basically convert to speech. They differ in the type of documents that they support, and in ease of conversion from text to speech. If your OS of choice is Mac OS X, and all you need is basic but extremely solid text to speech (TTS) functionality, you don’t even have to bother with a third party software application, as the OS’ native Text to Speech feature has you covered.
Top Rated Text To Speech Software
Mac Text To Speech Online
Free Text To Speech Software
In years gone by, text to speech software was rather expensive, but these days there are excellent text to speech tools available free of charge. We're here to help you find the very best tools that will make converting written documents to audio files as easy as possible.
Text to speech software can be enormously helpful for anyone who's visually impaired, or has a condition like dyslexia that makes reading on screens tricky. It can also help overcome language barriers for people who read a language but don't speak it, or are in the process of learning.
Text to speech software is also ideal if you want to listen to a document while doing something else, if you find it easier to retain information you've heard, or if you want to sense-check something you've written.
Here's our pick of the best free text to speech software for reading either individual paragraphs or whole documents aloud.
1. Balabolka
Save text as a spoken audio file, with customizable voices
Lots of voices to choose from
There are a couple of ways to use Balabolka's free text to speech software: you can either copy and paste text into the program, or you can open a number of supported file formats (including DOC, PDF, and HTML) in the program directly. In terms of output you can use SAPI 4 complete with eight different voices to choose from, SAPI 5 with two, or the Microsoft Speech Platform if you download and install the necessary files. Whichever route you choose, you can adjust the speech, pitch and volume of playback to create custom voice.
In addition to reading words aloud, this free text to speech software can also save narrations as audio files in a range of formats including MP3 and WAV. For lengthy documents you can create bookmarks to make it easy to jump back to a specific location and there are excellent tools on hand to help you to customize the pronunciation of words to your liking.
With all these features to make life easier when reading text on a screen isn't an option, Balabolka is best free text to speech software around.
2. Natural Reader
Free text to speech software with its own web browser
Choice of interfaces
Natural Reader is a free text to speech tool that can be used in a couple of ways. The first option is to load documents into its library and have them read aloud from there. This is a neat way to manage multiple files, and the number of supported file types is impressive, including ebook formats. There's also OCR, which enables you to load up a photo or scan of text, and have it read to you.
The second option takes the form of a floating toolbar. In this mode, you can highlight text in any application and use the toolbar controls to start and customize text to speech. This means you can very easily use the feature in your web browser, word processor and a range of other programs. There's also a built-in browser to convert web content to speech more easily.
3. Panopretor Basic
Easy text to speech conversion, with WAV and MP3 output
Top Rated Text To Speech Software
Exports in WAV and MP3 formats
As the name suggests, Panopreter Basic delivers free text to speech conversion without frills. It accepts plain and rich text files, web pages and Microsoft Word documents as input, and exports the resulting sound in both WAV and MP3 format (the two files are saved in the same location, with the same name).
The default settings work well for quick tasks, but spend a little time exploring Panopreter Basic's Settings menu and you'll find options to change the language, destination of saved audio files, and set custom interface colors. The software can even play a piece of music once it's finished reading – a nice touch you won't find in other free text-to-speech software.
If you need something more advanced, a premium version of Panopreter is available for US$29.95 (about £20, AU$40). This edition offers several additional features including toolbars for Microsoft Word and Internet Explorer, the ability to highlight the section of text currently being read, and extra voices.
4. WordTalk
An extension that adds text to speech to your word processor
Customizable voices
Developed by the University of Edinburgh, WordTalk is a toolbar add-on for Word that brings customizable text to speech to Microsoft Word. It works with all editions of Word and is accessible via the toolbar or ribbon, depending on which version you're using.
Mac Text To Speech Online
The toolbar itself is certainly not the most attractive you'll ever see, appearing to have been designed by a child. Nor are all of the buttons' functions very clear, but thankfully there's a help file on hand to help.
There's no getting away from the fact that WordTalk is fairly basic, but it does support SAPI 4 and SAPI 5 voices, and these can be tweaked to your liking. The ability to just read aloud individual words, sentences or paragraphs is a particularly nice touch. You also have the option of saving narrations, and there are a number of keyboard shortcuts that allow for quick and easy access to frequently used options.
5. Zabaware Text-to-Speech Reader
A great choice for converting text from websites to speech
Good file format support
Despite its basic looks, Zabaware Text-to-Speech Reader has more to offer than you might first think. You can open numerous file formats directly in the program, or just copy and paste text.
Alternatively, as long as you have the program running and the relevant option enables, Zabaware Text-to-Speech Reader can read aloud any text you copy to the clipboard – great if you want to convert words from websites to speech – as well as dialog boxes that pop up. Zabaware Text-to-Speech Reader can also convert text files to WAV format.
Unfortunately the selection of voices is limited, and the only settings you can customize are volume and speed unless you burrow deep into settings to fiddle with pronunciations. Additional voices are available for a US$25 fee (about £20, AU$30), which seems rather steep, holding it back from a higher place in our list.

Windows 7 has speech recognition which is good.

just found this i hope it work as well as they say, [Broken Link Removed]
I'm no big Windoze fan but the speech to text in Windows is every bit as good aS Dragon as I use them both. In ANY speech to text you have to be aware of mic positioning and extraeous noise. Work on those two things and the text will take care of itself.
i found the speach recognition software on my computer, but i need the speech to text and now i can only find text to speech! someone can help?
Dragon naturally speaking software is the best one.
I'm a special ed teacher who needs a Speech to text software (hopefully free) for 12 students with great ideas but few or no writing skills (K-1).
I haven't read where anyone has mentioned Talk It Type It yet. It is very economical. I bought the basic software about 6 years ago. I paid aprox 20.00 for it. Much cheaper than Dragon. TITI does have higher priced editions but I only needed the basic. I had to train it to recognize my voice, but you will have to do that with any of them. Google them to ck them out. I haven't checked recently to see if the co. is still in business. I say that because I haven't heard any ads about the software like they had a few years back. It could be worth checking them out? I like mine.
Just started using the Windows Speech Recognition and it seems to work well, but needs a lot of patience in training the computer to recognise your voice. Wanted a free option to start with and didn't know I had this on my computer all this while.. Anyone know how I can access the dictionary so as to add a few words? Or does it work with the standard windows dictionary, so I edit my words there. Still getting used to it..thanks to all who recommended this!
Of that I'm not certain, but it may be a great question to ask on MUO Answers..

Beware Dragon, works fine but when you upgrade from say XP to Vista or Vista to 7, the version of Dragon no longer works, and they want you to buy it again.
If you have a reasonably fast computer running Windows 7, the speech recognition which comes with windows works pretty well.
The latest stable version of Google Chrome 11 has been released sporting the new flat icon with improved security and with the speech-to-text support through HTML speech input API. The first official Google service to make use of this service is Google Translate.
Once after downloading and installing Chrome 11 you can head over to Google Translate page to check out Speech-to-text translation. Right now Google supports only English to other languages. If activated you will see a microphone icon turn blue when you hover over it and the Speak Now speech bubble appear. When you have finished speaking and Chrome 11 speech input API has successfully converted voice to text, Google Translate service steps in and translates language. Hit listen button to heart the translated word.
I'm in Australia and they didn't have the icon you described. Maybe this feature is only enabled in particular countries? Just a thought.
Make sure that you have the source language set to English.
Replying to Bill in reply to Robert Aussies have to be careful to recognize that Strine is not English, which is not spoken in Aussie except by English-Speaking visitors -- and that they tune to International (IE: American) English. <]:^)-<
and you, mr. or ms. anonymous, should be careful as well, since strine is as 'english' as 'american english', both a dirivative of the TRUE original British english, which when you come to think about it is closer to strine than it is american english.
Thanks, it works..
hi, can You help me? I need from my phone iPhone from voice recorder translate it to the text in word. It is somehow possible? And it will be perfect if is for free. Thank Ypou so much. I am not talent for technology so I do not know how to do it.
What about any speech to text for Windows XP?
Marylou above recommended Dragon Naturally Speaking. Did you try that one, yet?
It's a bit pricey and I haven't tried it yet
Try using a bit torrent site with peerblock installed and running.
stop going on about dragon
does not work very well on windows 7 home premium thats what i have and it didnt get one word right
that is for windows 7

Might try [Broken Link Removed]. There is a zip file installer available at [Broken Link Removed]. The trial is fully functional, and I tried this on Windows 7. It seemed to act as a front end for MS Speech Recognition, but I am not sure. Worth a shot, though.
free good speech to text software programs available to download http://www.tazti.com/
Thanks for this info although, the term, 'if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is'. I checked out the website in your comment & found that it is free, but for only 15 days. After that, it's $29.95. which is a good price but, I'm afraid the term, 'you get what you pay for' may apply.
So Harry, you went on to check some free software, it wasn't free, and now you're complaining that it's too cheap. Did I sum it up correctly?
I use the Microsoft inbuilt version and it works fine. The trick is to slowly train the program to understand your voice and practice until it does. Accuracy for me is now about 85 to 95%. Its no good expecting speech to text software to work out of the box, although dragon is faster than the others to do that as I have used both. I will upgrade to Dragon 11 later but for now I am using Microsofts version and I write articles from it, so it does work.
Andy
People just don't seem to understand the English language anymore do they??? HUGE difference between 'text to speech' and 'speech to text' .. But if you're reading carefully and not just jumping in because you think you know what you're talking about, it's pretty easy to catch..
Did u guys just use google to find this website : hope it will help u ppl ;) http://www.naturalreaders.com/index.htm from : softlogik
you did not read carefully. they are looking for speech to text NOT text to speech. BIG difference.
i,m in a fix guys. i dont have a card yet and cant buy any? isnt there any freeware?
I have just switched on Windows Seven speech recognition and am trying it out for the first time. With a bit of juggling it seems to be going quite reasonably, but I can see that there is a pretty steep learning curve, especially as I have a quite pronounced lisp (and wasn't that fun to have to spell out).
Still for a first try it's not going too badly and I can see me having some fun playing with this to see if I can get anywhere near my not very impressive typing speed. One interesting thing that I have noticed in my short acquaintance with this program is that less common words seem to be recognized easier, a not unsurprising result all things considered. One thing, I am using the microphone built into my web cam, perhaps with a better quality microphone there would be fewer errors, although I'm not sure if a better microphone would be more susceptible to ambient sound. A secondary issue, and one that might not bother others, is I like to have music playing in the background whilst on my computer, either from my sound system or the computer itself, and that would have to go if I were to use speech recognition as more than an occasional thing. tempersfugue
I use a MacMice Microphone with Vista and it's great. I also use it with my favorite MacBook Pro and one of the newer versions of MacSpeech. The mike is a goosenecked usb item that works well up to 2 feet from my mouth. I can use headphones if I don't want music to interfere as ambient sound. Works with PC or Mac. I've been trying and using speech programs for years. The Vista one trains in about 7 minutes. What has to be done though is corrections, otherwise if it practices mistakes, it gets better at them. My son also uses Dragon Naturally Speaking on his XP and just likes it better every time he uses it. Mike is plug and play, look here: [Broken Link Removed]
I use Google Voice, a free service, when I want speech to text. I use it with my Android cell phone and call my own phone number to leave a message. Google does a good job of transcribing my voice message to text and emailing me the text to my Gmail account.
How to edit text in a pdf. I'm pretty sure Google Voice works with any phone. You don't need to own an Android phone to use it. The service is now out of beta and is open for anyone to use.
Hope this helps.
The built in speech recognition works reasonably well IF you have the right mic and sound card. Wrong mic or sound card and you won't get good results no matter what software you use.
Dragon is better than the built in software, particularly Dragon 10 & 11. I use it all the time. I blogged about it here: [Broken Link Removed]
Wade Hatler
if you have broadband, use [Broken Link Removed], just copy/paste your text and hit the play button. (it was mentioned in makeuseof directory)
the question is about free 'speech to text' software. not 'text to speech'. that's a whole different question. but a useful piece of software nevertheless.
SPEECH TO TEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPEECH TO TEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT TEXT TO SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yo y u wearin a rag, n wat color is dat.. looks lik dark brown, i wanna say blacc.. u folk?

Hi Massey Speech Project [Broken Links Removed]
possible it can do what you want, mostly freewares will not be good and sharewares like viavoice and dragon are little expensive
It also looks like Dragon is for 32 bit computers. mine's 64bit.
If I ever get a copy, i will be sure to post here and give my verdict, but still think the price is too steep.
this topic is best FREE SPEECH TO TEXT dragon is not free and all the other crap is not speech to text like what theyre looking for not just for commands but to write with
Mango - I'm in the same boat as you, I've been searching for not only a good speech to text program, but also decent API to use in some of my programming. But it appears that speech technology is one of those things that's a bit too advanced to get for free. I'm leaning toward Dragon as well, especially now that a couple people here say that it performs well. My own fear was buying it and then seeing that it doesn't perform any better than the free ones!
If you do buy a copy, let us know how you like it!
Tried Dragon and it did not work well at all
Dragon is great! Here is ver10 and $ 59.00 @ [Broken Link Removed] It is the last version but performed very well. Hope it helps.
@Eduardo I just found the inbuilt voice recognition software in windows 7, and tested it out. it is very poor quality, and even with a microphone, it's unable to get sentences right, so I'm afraid I'll have to pass on that one.
@ha14 I don't have microsoft office installed. i use notepad++ or openoffice.
@Aibek, dragon looks ok, but far too expensive, I was hoping for something completely free. have you had any experience using dragon?
I tried for a few days about 5 years ago. Back then I was mainly looking for a program that would let me use my PC using voice commands. Dragon did fairly well but required user to train it first. Because I wanted something quick I uninstalled it:-)
I heard lots of positive feedback about Dragon Naturally Speaking, http://www.nuance.com/dragon/index.htm Mac os find file.
Unfortunately it's a bit pricey.
Hi
[Broken Link Removed]
If you are using Windows Vista or 7, you may have access to the built in voice recognition program. Look for it in the Star menu. Note: I think you have to be running Home Premium or superior to use this feature, though I'm not completely sure.
isnt this just for voice commands to mover around on your computer????we are looking for somethiing that takes your vocals and types them into text!!!!!!!!!
Windows 7 speech recognition does both - controls the computer, and takes dictation. Like most speech to text programs there is some learning to be done on your and the computer's part. If you want punctuation you'll need to say that (period/stop, comma, etc.) If you have a decent microphone then you are all set.
I guess almost all Vistas, Windows 7 and higher specification XPs have speech recognition. In Vista, go to control panel, then Ease of Access, Follow, Speech recognition and you are set.. The tutorial is easy and the best adive is do not get a cheap microphone.
more punctuation does not the answer change -_-

dear Eduardo, lot of merit to you. I was looking for voice recognition software without knowing it is with me installed in computer. thank you
nanda
Btw y has no one noticed that there is no such thing as Windows superior
read better, he meant windows home premium or better!
Ha, that was funny.
I think he just meant home premium or better
there is actually windows superior. its just not a 'legal' copy of windows 7, the product has been modified to suit the user and the pc in usability and response times. my supervisor was talking about it in work when we were discussing upgrading the OS's in the office computers.
Hi, have experience using the Microsoft Speech to Text software built into Office XP/2002. First computer was Compaq AP200, PII400, 512MB PC100 SDRAM. Headset with boom mike turned out to be the problem. Changed it to Logitech USB set. Ran nicely on USB 1.1 at its rate. Worked amazingly better on the new OptiPlex 745 with its Pentium D dual core and 2 GB of specified RAM - 533 MHz. End of buzz and fuzz, beginning of virtually perfect translation of speech to text paragraph after paragraph. Customer agreed to invest her time and effort in training with her 19' LCD monitor. Good luck, dc
Thanks for sharing your experience, Dick!
