People sometimes try to picture "the opposite of Touhou" and come up with, like, a bullet-hell shooter where all the characters are boys, which is a problem for two reasons:
Boys are not the opposite of girls; and
At this point Touhou is barely a bullet-hell shooter franchise anyway; like, yeah, that's the foundation of it, but let's be real, a huge chunk of the fandom only ever engages with the supplementary media and has never helled a bullet in their lives.
If we really want to flip it turnways, it's not sufficient to invert the gameplay or the aesthetic trappings; there needs to be an ideological inversion of some description as well.
Basically, what I'm saying is that the opposite of Touhou is Death Stranding.
Sometimes you'll run across a long Tumblr thread where every single participant has a different picture of Yukari from Touhou for an avatar and find yourself getting weirdly invested in whatever they're talking about in spite of the fact that it makes no sense at all.
