I have a theory that "Easton & Main" and "The Bird Hunters" are about the same couple.

"Before the Devil Knows We're Dead" came on the radio and i was briefly forced to drive the speed limit until i could weave my way into a clear lane. pretty sure that's some sort of hate crime

Cowboy Poetry pt. 2
Well I have loved you for so long
I have no memory of falling
So long now
It feels that we have never been apart
I hear you have a world away
You know for whom you're calling
I'd have said this years ago
If I'd known where to start
Oh now, it still beats steady
This heart I handed you for free
Should you ever need a thing
It won't be hard to find me
Standing at the ready
With a dance or two still left in me
Wager that it won't appear
That I've forgot who brought me
You've torn the place asunder
And you've left the party early
Looked at me with tears
As if a lost and lonely child
Your status suits you well
But do not think that you can fool me
This polish and reserve
Barely hides that you are wild
And we've echoed off of barroom walls
And buildings down on Main Street
Thought the moon would never set on
Our back alley room
In moments I found quality
I thought could not be beaten
A thousand person choir
Has an affection all its own
Oh now, it still beats steady
This heart I handed you for free
Should you ever need a thing
It won't be hard to find me
Standing at the ready
With a dance or two still left in me
Wager that it won't appear
That I've forgot who brought me
You kissed me in the parking lot
I gave you nothing clever
Damages and injuries
Were far beyond repair
Submitted to the shape of things
This time it was forever
At an old barroom in Tulsa
I looked up and you were there
Oh now, it still beats steady
This heart I handed you for free
Should you ever need a thing
It won't be hard to find me
Standing at the ready
With a dance or two still left in me
Wager that it won't appear
That I've forgot who brought me

Poor little meow meow. Wet little meow meow. Pathetic abandoned stray little meow meow. Then the Turnpike Troubadours new album drops and it is literally called:

They’re not singing about a cat neither. They’re singing about some loser guy.

found out today on shooter jennings' show on outlaw XM that the last song on turnpike's new album, "Won't You Give Me One More Chance" is a deep-cut jerry jeff walker cover which is why it sounds so out of left field compared to the other songs and why no one recognizes it

There is a very special vibe that comes from listening to Zach Bryan reference the Turnpike Troubadours directly after you finish listening to the Turnpikes new album

REVIEW: Turnpike Troubadours "A Cat in the Rain"
REVIEW: Turnpike Troubadours "A Cat in the Rain" #turnpiketroubadours #johnbmoore #americanahighways #acatintherain #newmusic2023 #americanamusic
Turnpike Troubadours – A Cat in the Rain Oklahoma Red Dirt legends the Turnpike Troubadours have been on a self-imposed hiatus since 2019, but as their recent multi-night stint at Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium proved, they certainly didn’t let any rust settle in during their time off. And A Cat in the Rain, their first LP in six years, clearly puts the exclamation point on that…
