oh god. i don't think i can answer this without talking about the survivor and etho. a lot of his actions in this fic and in the AU as a whole were not ones i necessarily planned beforehand. he always took me by surprise with a direction that just felt natural for him so who was i to say no? i wish i could give one specific example because it really was the entire fic.

23. how do you deal with writer's block?

um as you can probably tell from just knowing me— very poorly. i don't have any set way of dealing with it, i usually just keep trying to throw words on a page and find something that sticks. usually this means taking a break from what i am currently writing and starting something new. but one of my biggest crutches is music; if i can find the right song that can help get me out of a block as well

uagghhh this one's really hard, i don't... read as much fanfic as i write.

@canarydarity i've mentioned before but,, cannot say it enough!! their writing is so unique and i genuinely love it so much!

his response is hardly a lift of his eyes unto her - the blonde usually so easy to look at. instead, he continues to sulk. continues to watch the coffee in his cup gently circle itself - the vapour that warms the air around it.

he sighs in his seat, lowers himself into the leather of his seat as if he hopes it'll swallow him up in its embrace.

"scarlet-" a hand meets the slick of his hair, fingers parting strands ungroomed. it's easy for the smaller flicks at the front of his hair to fall before his face when the gel so-easily-comes-undone. "if you want a compliment, just ask one of my men-"

even his words sound lacklustre. there's no secret that his troops simply adore the woman ( always have - perhaps inspired by his relationship with her. or maybe the way she wears herself ). regardless, he'd never push her their way, rather - he'd always compliment her himself. ( even if it were a cheeky wink and a nudge alongside an 'insult' ).

he thinks on the previous few nights - coming home to bags packed and his wife clicking heels out of the door. his daughters there ( helping their mom move ). heidegger attempting to reason with something he knew to be broken, irreparably. it wasn't that he was sad but perhaps in a strange state of mourning.

all of those years and for what? she'd given him children...but even now, they'd chosen to leave him. had he really given all to the company and not them?

had he not loved them? not loved them enough- ?

"i'm not so certain that going out will help-" his misery sits on every word, has him rubbing balled fists into tired eyes. even with her flattery, he's still brooding. "though-"

honey hues pause on her; the general's expression not the fierce sort she'd be so used to but instead lips, bent and eyes, sad.

"i could use a drink."

This, on the other hand, is called “Dinner and a show.” Which I suppose is still relevant.

This one is called “taller” because some of them I named according to whatever words were being said at the time. (”Can you make me taller?”)
