I got stuck for 4 hours today in middle of nowhere Texas. Though I am so stocked the new addition to my arsenal paid off.
Kinda gives me Netherlands vibes, and made me slightly miss it since been gone from Europe for nearly 3 years. How time flies.

The response of seeing thousand of dead fish wash up on Texas shores usually elicits, “The earth is dying”. A common refrain that is passive.
Capitalism and the people who benefit are killing the earth would be more accurate.

No version of Neil/Nathaniel is easy to break - there’s a lot of persuasion involved in Evermore Kingdom’s quest for their next butcher to do his work without a fight.
(Or POV you’re realizing the young butcher is just as scary as you’ve heard but for vastly different reasons than the rumors imply)

Y’all are so far removed from the reality of US politics on the ground, so stuck in your online echo chamber that you think the reason the American public will have an issue with Harris’ record as a prosecutor is because she wasn’t progressive enough??? Please. The main-stream conversation is about how Harris is “too far left” and “too progressive” for the average swing voter and that she’s going to have a hard time convincing the “American Public” that she’s going to be “effective” at “battling crime” in a country with RECORD LOW CRIME RATES.
I don’t think *you* understand the will and desire of the majority of the general public. Nor do I think you are aware of how the Overton window has shifted.
The majority of American voters are most concerned with 1.) inflation— despite the fact it’s gone from 9% to 3%, and 2.) border crossings and “immigrant crime”— despite the fact that immigrants commit crimes at far lower rates than citizens. They’re afraid of boogeymen.
Maybe talk to someone outside your internet circle, yeah?

Something that bothers me about how we talk about COVID and the pandemic in America is that people will hear "We are no longer in a pandemic." and think that it means COVID is over forever and isn't still the third most leading cause of death in America. They hear "the pandemic is over" and never bother to think about the fact that its over because some countries responded well and actually succeeded in getting rid of it and stopping outbreaks, but the US was never even close to being one of those countries. We're no longer in a pandemic because we're in an EPIDEMIC. But they hear the first half of that sentence and by the time you can finish they're already out there taking the first half of what you said as permission to cough into a stranger's mouth.

Making a swatch right now for the yellow yarn, but I think I'm going to try to make another directional scarf with these two colors. I'm still going to give the green one as a gift. I wouldn't mind that massive mistake I made as much, if it weren't for the fact that it makes it constantly want to curl in half. We'll see if I learned from last time and whether or not I know how to cast on from the sides properly. We'll see.
Tumblr media
I also did this scarf a while ago, but wasn't much of a fan of the color. Looking at the picture now, it does seem rather colorful, in hindsight. It has some wool in it, so it should be warmer. I have another one much like it, but it's white instead of the grey that goes throughout it, so that's probably why this one looked 'meh' to me.
Maybe I'll send this one to my grandma, too. I still need to block both of these scarves regardless: I just don't have enough blocking segments to fit even one fully, let alone two.
Something I noticed with the grey rainbow wool scarf is that it always seems to get a bit wider when it reaches the purple sections. Hopefully blocking it will help mitigate that.

lando with a partner who dyes their hair all the time?
more requests pls - I don't get much sleep now and would love to stay up actually doing something (writing blurbs) instead of laying awake staring at my ceiling (check the masterlist for who i write for/ send over an ask)

Y/N walked down the isle of the shop, looking at the collection of hair dye. She wanted something natural for her first time at a grand prix in months. But then her eyes moved down to the lower part of the isle, where the more colourful dye was.
Orange, a very bright, papaya orange would have been perfect, but Y/N couldn't find such a colour. It was either way too dark or way too natural. So, she went for the next best thing. There was a beautiful red on the bottom shelf, a very bright, unnatural red. It was going to be perfect.
She bought it and headed home. Lando had already gone to Texas with the team, getting ready for COTA. Y/N knew she wanted to dye her hair, granted it was supposed to be a natural colour, and had agreed to meet Lando there.
After Y/N had finished dyeing her hair, Lando tried video calling her. When she answered, Y/N had her camera off as Lando's grinning face appeared on her screen. But that grin quickly dropped as soon as he realised he couldn't see her. "Are you there?" He asked, his voice higher pitched at the end.
"Yes, Lan, but I've just finished dyeing my hair and you're not allowed to see it until I land tomorrow," she said.
Lando laid back on his bed as he let out a huff, running his hand through his curls. "I miss you," he said. "I really want to see you."
"Well, you'll just have to wait."
Y/N let out a laugh as Lando pouted again.
As soon as Y/N touched down in the USofA, she headed straight to Lando's hotel room. He wasn't there; he was at the race track, anxiously waiting for his girlfriend to arrive.
Y/N quickly dropped her things off and headed towards the race track. Her hair was hidden inside of a winter hat, even though Texas was sweltering. It was painful but it was going to be worth it for the bit.
She was led through the McLaren hospitality unit until her boyfriend was standing in front of her. Lando had his back to her as he spoke to Oscar, Oscar who had spotted him. Y/N held her finger to her lips as she snuck up behind Lando and pressed her fingers to his back.
Lando jumped as he turned around. "Baby?" He squeaked as he turned to face her.
"Hey, Lan," she said as he wrapped his arms around her.
Lando pulled her hat away from her head, revealing the red hair. His eyes went wide as his fell out of the hat, showing Lando the colour. "Wow," he whispered as he ran his fingers through the strands. "You look incredible."
Unless he was driving, Lando couldn't take his eyes away from Y/N during the COTA weekends. Interviewers had to snap his attention back towards them when he got distracted by her walking by.
But then...
"So, Lando, how do you feel about your girlfriend dyeing her hair Ferrari colours?" Asked Will Buxton as he held the microphone towards him.
"She what?" Lando squeaked as he looked around the paddock, towards where Y/N just went. He took just a second before answering properly. "She may have Ferrari red hair, but she'll always be a McLaren girl."

If you yourself admit that people born in America have no choice in regards to that, why are you going ahead and shaming them for it? Also "you buy food from all over the world when you go shopping"? No, I fucking do not! I'm sure it's different in other parts of the country but where I'm from basically everything is local! Moreover, I am literally in DEBT! I have NEGATIVE MONEY. I do not benefit from American imperialism in ANY meaningful way! Pull your head out of your ass!
Okay so I'm going to respond to this even though I probably shouldn't
Tumblr media
I'm not shaming anyone for shit; stating the fact that american citizens materially benefit from American imperialism is literally just stating a fact. That's not an insult, it's not a moral judgement, it's part and parcel of living in this shithole. I live here too, believe it or not, but my tribe having been literally genocided by the US government does not exempt me from the present structure of US society.
Tumblr media
I'm going to be charitable and not call this a lie, but it's simply not true. Do you see bananas when you go to the store? Canned oranges? Rice? Cheap plastic shoved around the checkout lines? Look at the labels on them. Made in China, Product of Thailand, Packaged in Argentina but, for some reason, on sale here in the USofA, at an appallingly low price considering the complexity of the supply chain that brought it to you. Virtually everything you buy is neither produced nor processed in this country.
Tumblr media
These things do not logically connect; I am also in debt, and I suppose if you consider debt to be the direct inverse of wealth, - which you should not, if you have even the most basic understandings of the economics underlying the present system, - then I suppose I too have negative money. And yet, I live in the United States. I can go down to the 7/11 and buy bananas from the shitty little refrigerator for like, a few bucks. Bananas grown in the third world, already owned by an american company, sold to another american company, and then sold to american retailers, to be sold to americans, at the special price that only americans get, at any time of year, anywhere in the country. I dislike the banana example as it feels patronizing, but, evidently, we need to start from beneath the concrete floor with a lot of americans.
Tumblr media
You are literally on The Internet. A system designed by the US Military and later popularized by US Corporations who, to this day, control such a large portion of it that there is literally no reason, - barring a desire to dissuade onself of the echo-chamber of US media, - for an American to ever visit a foreign-owned website. 9 times out of 10, if you go to a website not owned by an american - or western european, - company, there is an english version of that website. It exists *for you*. For americans specifically. Because *we*, uniquely, are never expected to ever learn any language other than english. Why do you think that is?
Tumblr media
you first lol Also get off anon if you want to argue with me; it isn't like it isn't obvious who you are. Have some fucking spine if you're going to lead a harassment campaign.

Hi! I don't know where else to ask, so... How can people outside of the USofA help to free Palestine?
(I'm Brazilian btw)
Hello! Thank you so much for sending this.
I'm not too familiar with international politics honestly but a couple ways absolutely anyone, regardless of location, monetary availability, or physical accessibility, can help are below.
BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction — but particularly boycott) https://bdsmovement.net/get-involved/what-to-boycott
Spread art/writing/anything related to Palestine
Talk on Social Media about Palestine!!!
The reason I want to emphasize talking about Palestine is because it really, really, REALLY, does help when combating Zionist Propaganda. Most people look at CNN's reporting, then see a video of something happening on the ground in Gaza, and they realize that there is a fundamental disconnect.
Maybe you yourself are not physically available to do something somewhere (like, for example, you're in Brazil so you can't make USAmerican politicians change their stance), you can maybe influence someone who CAN.
BDS is also really important because, well, money makes the world go round, right? Once big companies start to lose money because of their stance on Palestine or because they're doing something that causes harm to Palestinians through their business practices, they'll start to stop whatever it is they are doing. Israeli-based products should also be boycotted, because our funds directly impact the Israeli economy.
Thanks for this! Feel free to add on if anyone else knows other things to do internationally!
