This was a great thrift find!

So for context: Book Off buys and sells lightly used toys (among many other things) and used to be a great place to find stuff.

But in the past few years, as they shifted focus to fandom and collectors in the US, their prices have gotten outrageous. Far above ebay in many cases.

But this Belial was an exception - $3usd! And he was in beautiful condition, just dumped unceremoniously in the sofubi bins.

Dating back to 2009, this is the very first Belial toy to hit the scene - from his debut in the "Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy" film.

And it's such a great toy. Wonderful hunched little pose, stocky and menacing. Gorgeous gradient paint on the eyes. And those claws!

In the years since we've had some wonderful high end Belial toys - but there's really something special about this first vinyl. He's got a ton of charm.

Be the parents you wish to see in the world. Be good to kids, and mean to the people mean to your kids. The Ultra Garrison is my favorite found family trope. Like literally only two people are required to call them Ultra Mother and Ultra Father aits their kid Taro and kid.dlc//adopted Ace.

But even Zoffy isnt like. Ken your Grandkid needs some training. Mary this other kid thinks hes dead can you ultra heal him?

Nah hes like. Their best man and is still like. 'Sup Dad coffee is ready on the counter" I need more comics about this.

It’s easy to be flippant about superhero fatigue right now, since the MCU & DCEU filmmaking behemoths are both dozens of titles into their decade-long stranglehold on Hollywood, with all possible surprise & novelty long squeezed out of the genre’s lungs.  Still, my exhaustion with superhero blockbusters has less to do with the genre at large than it has to do with those two franchises in…

While Choujou have more personality than just evil engines of destruction (much to Yapool’s chagrin I imagine) I feel that given some of them were hosts/originally bodies of Yapool or grown from pieces of Yapool flesh, that Ultliving or Reionics-ing with them should be mentally risky if done for too long.

Like the merging of personalities or such, or risk even minds of controller and kaiju switching
