In general, Zephaniah Ezekiel Thud is interested in what I call "playing at a high level of optimization," which tends to be miserable. Thus, he is interested in instrumentalizing men.

Clint Manstock is observing society's instrumentalization of men, and is providing men with stories to help them find themselves or to numb the pain.

From this, I think we can dig into the unstated argument that Clint Manstock was making when he told the interviewer, “The right-wing think that Communism is gay. They are wrong.”

Clint wouldn't call it this because he isn't the right class of theorist, but he is familiar with both the concepts of reproductive alignment and capital-intensive systems of reproduction.

To Clint, sex is inherently somewhat hierarchical. This hierarchy isn't necessarily fixed - a woman might have more influence at some times, and a man at others - but one partner generally will have more influence or power along the way.

Sex isn't anonymous and equal. A person is choosing a particular partner over others. It might be due to being more beautiful, or being more skilled at sex, or valuing that person more or knowing them more deeply or trusting them more. And it's typically fraught with emotion. People get caught up in emotions, perhaps bringing themselves joy, perhaps destroying themselves, perhaps harming others. This relates to the flow of power relations.

Sex is in some sense inherently dangerous, and having sexual desire is in some sense inherently dangerous. It's risky. It's vulnerable.

Sex is hierarchical. Sex is competitive. Sex is particularist. Sex is dangerous and alive and vital and determines our destinies. It's like war. Sex is right-wing.

And all of this is downstream of our nature as a reproductive species.

The division into two sexes produces these dynamics, and in combination with other elements of our nature, such as our lifespan, it produces things like romantic particularism.

We are who we are because of how we reproduce. (Reproductive alignment.)

Thus sex, as in having two sexes, is right-wing.

To Clint, homosexuality is downstream of humanity's nature as a sexual species. It's anchored to heterosexuality.

Homosexuals may fall in love, and value one human being over everyone else. Or they may view some as more beautiful and sexy than others. And they may act on their sexual desire in ways that hurt others - not even violently, or even through having sex, but through rejection, too.

Even though they have the same reproductive biology, among homosexuals there is still this natural emergence of an emotionally-laden hierarchy.

In Clint's view, the Communist project is driven not by a rational impulse to ensure everyone has a minimum material standard of living (that would be liberal welfare capitalists), but by an emotional envy that produces an irrational opposition to hierarchy, and thus must proceed to biosocialism, the elimination of biological inequities that are an obstacle to the formation of a global, classless society.

There can be no love, because love creates hierarchy. There can be no sexual desire, because sexual desire creates hierarchy. There can be no sex, because sex creates hierarchy.

A society not of animals, but of perfectly interchangeable human units, grown in vats. (Capital-intensive reproduction.) Utilitybags as human beings. The final alternative to homo economicus. Hierarchy is only allowed in the social dimension, based on who is in or out of the party (with "justified" rewards for the inner members), and variation beyond this exists solely for inter-state competition, which it is hoped will eventually be snuffed out by biosocialism rising to hegemony as the new world system.

Thus, in Clint's view, Communism is not even gay.

This is an alternative bad outcome to the more capitalistic "bleaching the planet" hypothesis, in which market forces conspire with insurance-like influences on states, with the effect, under the condition of genetic engineering, of reducing humanity's genetic diversity - the answer to, "What would be worse than contemporary progressive ideology?"

The thing about optimization is that you have to do at least some optimization in order to have high production so that you run a surplus. That's just life. You have to reorder the environment to support yourself, and while you're there you should probably create a buffer to respond to future changes.

But a certain level of optimization becomes a provocation, as it redirects surplus from consumption and investment into security spending, or from consumption into security spending as an investment. Each individual faces a trade-off between competition and consumption; society is actually quite far from the maximally competitive frontier, and for good reason.

The switch from a low-energy, low-capital-intensity society to a high-energy, high-capital-intensity society has reduced the amount of oppression and suffering per unit economic value produced.

In my personal opinion as mitigatedchaos, the goal should be a modest rate of growth (intensive or extensive) with the objective of long-term sustainability. This provides a good balance between consumption now and reduced suffering later, given uncertainty. There's no point in paying excessively high moral prices under such uncertainty.

Clint Manstock would likely say that we don't get to choose so carefully; history will surprise us no matter what we do, one way or the other.

What Zephaniah Ezekiel Thud says in response to any of that, I don't know.
