Shadowpeach AU, where Macaque was originally the guardian of the Immortal Peach Trees, and Wukong had to get past him in order to get an immortal peach...
But Past Wukong ISN'T as strong as Current Wukong, so Macaque keeps preventing him from getting a peach...
One day, Macaque mockingly bites a peach in front of Wukong...
Wukong suddenly has an idea; he kisses Macaque on the lips, to get the peach in Macaque's mouth...
Macaque was frozen, as Wukong smugly takes the peach from the stunned Macaque's hands...
But once Macaque unfreezes himself, he knocks Wukong out with a single punch...
Wukong wakes up, in love with Macaque! 😍
Oh fun!
The idea of a celestial realm dwelling macaque makes me think of @anxiescape's Celestial Bodies au, which is, in their own words, sleeping beauty with gay monkeys and war crimes, and their art is super pretty too! Their Macaque has galaxies in his fur!
As I was answering this, the idea of Macaque having been adopted by the Jade Emperor and Xiwangmu (Queen Mother of the West), popped into my head, so now the Jade Emperor's issue with Wukong isn't just that he's wrecking his shit, but he's flirting with his son and making a fool of him!
This idea just became a whole lot funnier.
This could have been a tragedy, it became a comedy. I might find a way to get some angst in here
Macaque works in the peach orchards with his sisters, sometimes the peach maidens are Xiwangmu's daughters, because he enjoys it and it's a natural habitat for a monkey like himself.
He was not expecting the new stable boy to be so brazenly bold as to kiss him, a celestial prince, as a ploy to steal from him! He punches Wukong in the face for it and hopes nobody saw that, it's so embarrassing.
Meanwhile Wukong is absolutely smitten with the guy who could knock him out like that and thinks he's super powerful and strong and pretty. So he keeps visiting Macaque specifically, he doesn't know that he's the Jade Emperor's adopted son, he just thinks he's pretty.
Macaque is super confused and annoyed, he's just trying to do what makes him happy and be a good son and this stupid cute monkey keeps getting in his way!
He confides in his big sister Iron Fan, she immediately clocks in that the other monkey has the hots for her little brother and is not a fan. She asks their cousin (Erlang) to keep an eye on Wukong just to make sure he doesn't do anything.
Erlang, who is also not a fan of this monkey with the hots for his cousin, completely understands.
So now Xiaotian Quǎn follows Wukong around whenever he's in heaven, giving his the upmost disapproving looks whenever he interacts with Macaque.
But then! Horror of horrors!
Macaque catches feelings for Wukong! And he wants to die, it's so embarrassing and unbecoming! And it'll never work out! Wukong isn't a celestial, and relationships between celestials and demons or mortals are forbidden!
Macaque is super easy to fluster now and any time Wukong shows up to talk with him he is a blushing mess and is not hiding his affections very well.
Luckily Wukong is as dense as the rock he hatched from, and doesn't get the hint.
Unfortunately, nobody else is and everyone thinks he's toying with the six eared prince's heart. This just makes the rest of Macaque's family like Wukong even less.
Wukong tells Macaque about his cool friends and how they are all about taking on the injustices of the heavens, (he hasn't done anything super destructive yet he's just been a nuisance).
Macaque challenges their ideas with the question of how they would fix it, and how much suffering their war would cause for the mortals, and does a former celestial like Azure really know better than the being who's spent millions of years keeping things balanced?
They are good questions.
Wukong is left doubting the brotherhood.
Man's gay crush is giving him second thoughts.
The Jade Emperor and Xiwangmu still don't really like Wukong because he's clearly got a thing for their son and they are protective parents to say the least.
Once Macaque admits his feelings to his family, and that he wants to date the most infamous"bad boy" in all three realms, well something like this happens:
Jade Emperor: Where do you think you're going, young man? Macaque: Wherever he'll take me. JE: I forbid you to go out with that hoodlum! Macaque: But Daddy, I love him! JE: Go to your room! Macaque: I don't even live here anymore! JE: Well, then, go to your old room that your mother turned into a scrapbooking room!
It's from a Looney toons episode, someone actually made a comic of a similar idea only LBD's the parent in that situation, it's so funny.
So Macaque is grounded now, JE and Xiwangmu have already lost at least two daughters to their lovers (their over reactions to the relationships are what really caused those tragedies but the royal couple doesn't want to admit that, @quitealotofsodapop has a lot more and better detailed ideas about this concept on their blog).
Good news for the brotherhood! Azure can turn this in their favor by making Wukong think the monkey he's in love with is being held prisoner by the Jade Emperor. He still doesn't know Macaque is his son, because macaque liked being around someone who didn't know that and never felt the need to tell him.
So Wukong is amped up to fight the Jade Emperor to rescue his crush/friend!
Meanwhile, Macaque is stuck in his room listening to the dumbass he fell head over heals in love with.
Will this end good? Bad? Who knows! Not even me!
I have ideas for a good and bad end, but I might put it to poll for the decision of what really happens.
Thanks for asking! This was a really fun one, hope you like it!

Shadowpeach Angst AU, where Macaque is worried about the future battle with heaven, and uses his Future Hearing + meditation to know all the possible futures (while Wukong + the Brotherhood watch him)...
Macaque hears NO possible future where they defeat Heaven... and in most possible futures, Macaque + Wukong lose their relationship... and in some futures, Wukong kills Macaque...
Macaque wakes up from his meditation screaming and traumatized + Wukong tries to comfort Macaque, but Macaque doesn't let Wukong touch him...
Macaque tells Wukong + the Brotherhood that there's NO future where they win, and then BEGS everyone to stop the battle against Heaven... (Macaque doesn't give them the details about Wukong's eventual betrayal)... But nobody listens, Wukong believes they can change the future...
But Macaque was so hurt + traumatized by Wukong possibly killing him, that when the Brotherhood was asleep... Macaque had left... Wukong was heartbroken, and Macaque hated himself for being a coward...
Macaque traveled the world in a disguise for years, then he meets Pigsy, and becomes MK's 'Mortal Uncle'...
When MK becomes Wukong's apprentice, Macaque gets nervous... While Wukong thinks that MK's 'Mortal Uncle' is oddly familiar... While Macaque wants to both protect MK + make sure Wukong DOESN'T learn the truth...
Gay Uncle Macaque AU!
He's the cool uncle who let's the kids do things that the parents would never allow while keeping an eye on them to make sure they were still safe.
I imagine he probably met Pigsy's and Tang soon after they found MK, drawn by the energy of this kid that's very similar to his mate's. He's been living as a normal mortal monkey for centuries, traveling around like the rest of his kind after FFM was burned (he definitely went back and saved as many as he could which Wukong doesn't find out about until after the journey).
And he hears the couple struggling with the little kid when he got overwhelmed and let's himself in to help out.
They are very alarmed this strange monkey broke into their home to help with their kid, but it works?
MK is immediately calmed down by Macaque's presence as one of his own kind, being monkeys, and Macaque clocks in that this kid ain't a human kid, strips off the glamor and reveals the little monkey, much to his parents shock.
He explains to Pigsy and Tang that some monkey demon probably wasn't up to taking care of their kid, being too young, too old, injured or whatever, and wanted a better more stable life for their child than the one of a monkey demon so they disguised him and left him to whoever would take care of him.
He offers to hang around and help them get the hang of raising a monkey until the kid is old enough to glamor himself as a human for ease of getting around, they accept, all become bros.
After a certain incident involving attempted kidnapping, Macaque hides MK's celestial primate-ness and leaves him looking like just a normal monkey demon, and he can't leave the kid alone now, Macaque never ends up leaving.
He is now and forever, Cool Uncle Mac.
He's also MK's godfather in case anything happens to Pigsy and Tang, happened after the attempted kidnapping, and somehow Mei got her parents to make Mac her godfather too, nobody knows how that happened.
Back to Wukong!
Wukong was heartbroken when Macaque just disappeared, and once he's been defeated, he attributes their defeat to Macaque leaving them, weakening them by leaving them without one of their strongest fighters, and he's raging in anger for years, until the journey happens.
Tripitaka hears Wukong ranting and raving about Macaque and starts to work him through his issues, and when Wukong does tell him that macaque warned them, he sides with Macaque's choice, because Wukong literally had a person who can hear every possible future tell him his plan was going to fail, and he ignored him.
Is it any wonder that Macaque left after his warnings were ignored?
Tripitaka explains what he can guess was Macaque's reasoning behind his choice with the information he has, which Macaque obviously hears and is very appreciative for and helps him with the guilt.
Tripitaka and Macaque are cool here. They never meet but they are chill and would probably be buds. And Macaque and Tang are buds!
Because Macaque did do the right thing for himself by walking away from not the healthiest group dynamic
By the time of the show, Macaque has had his actions and feelings validated by his therapist, he and Sandy go to the same one, they are buds and hang out for tea and kitty time while Macaque fills Sandy in on all the stuff he's been missed out on with Pigsy's life.
So Macaque is a lot mentally healthier and okay with himself and his past actions.
And then Wukong shows up again.
Macaque never heard Wukong confirm any sort of closure over what he did so he is reasonably weary when the guy shows up, then he's pissed because Wukong is putting his nephew/god son in mortal danger!
He doesn't know Wukong's feelings on Liu'er Mihou enough to feel safe coming out as himself, so he only interacts with him as Macaque, MK's protective uncle/god father.
Wukong is also pretty quick to figure out MK's also a monkey demon, he doesn't exactly hide it and will drop his glamor whenever to get around easier, feet hands make climbing around the city so much easier, but he can't figure out that MK is anything more than that.
He does initially assume that MK and Mac are biologically related, but it's pretty quickly explained that no, Mac broke in and decided he was gonna live with/near them like a stray cat, he heard a baby monkey crying and monkey instincts did the rest.
Macaque is very disapproving of Wukong's leaving MK in season 2, and he, unlike Wukong, fills MK (and others) in that a demon called the Lady Bone Demon is back and she's very dangerous.
She's the one who tried to kidnap MK as a child after all, so he's super on edge for all of season 2, practically staking out MK's room every night , because he hears really bad things happening in the future and is guiding things towards the less bad stuff.
Over the years the noodle fam learned to trust his "intuition" and he's happy to have a family that trusts and listens to him.
Wukong is facing down two angry dads + a pissed off uncle at the end of season 3. He's cooked.
Thanks for asking!

Shadowpeach AU, where everything is the same, except Possessed Wukong is super possessive over Macaque...
Macaque: (tries to fight Wukong)
Possessed Wukong: (quickly stops fighting, when he sees Macaque)
Macaque: Uhh, aren't you gonna fight?
Wukong: (pins Macaque to the ground) ... Mine.
Wukong: (roughly kisses Macaque)
Macaque: (pushes Wukong off, then runs + Wukong chases him) 💙
Naturally, Wukong catches him and

Shadowpeach Fluff AU, where Macaque decides to stay in that mountain to keep Wukong company, even after their argument... He stayed with Wukong for 500 years, then the West Journey happens...
How does Wukong feel about Macaque smacking the back of Tripitaka's head, whenever the monk uses the Circlet's Spell on Wukong? (They don't have a second circlet... so Tripitaka is grateful for Macaque's self-control...)
What are Macaque's relationships with all the Pilgrims? (Tripitaka + Ao Lie + Zhu Bajie + Sha Wujing)
How do the Pilgrims feel about Wukong being a simp for Macaque (even though they are boyfriends)?
What if after the West Journey, Wukong and Macaque got married? 💍
They were married before the journey since they are mates, after the journey it's public to everyone that these monkeys are together so not mess with their relationship.
Wukong appreciates his mate standing up for him, and finds it humorous to see Macaque just swat Tripitaka's bald head like a cat. He could be doing a lot worse, he makes sure Tripitaka knows that, he does do worse during the bone spirit arc because Bajie is blatantly lying and getting his mate hurt because he's horny.
He almost becomes bacon.
All the pilgrims agree that trusting the living lie detector duo when there's demons around is the best decision, and not to listen to Bajie.
Macaque likes Wujing and Lie a lot, they're nice and aren't causing problems for him and his mate, they are chill.
He doesn't like Bajie because of his blatant misogyny and hitting on every woman he meets, as a monkey from a matriarchal culture, that is fucking disgusting, and he has to be talked down from turning Bajie into bacon each time he doesn't leave people alone. He's not a fan of this pig.
He's tolerant of Tripitaka, he knows Tripitaka doesn't want to hurt his mate, and that he's a squishy mortal, but it's still very angering to see him hurt Wukong, hence the slapping. Outside of that, he's fine with him.
Bajie has no room to judge anyone for being a simp. Demons and dragons aren't strangers to same sex relationship, Tripitaka is the one who is most surprised and put off by it, but he gets over that as he sees how much they truly love each other.
Sandy and Lie think they're cute, Lie is making preparations to be the best uncle for his eventual niblings.
Macaque is just as much of a simp for Wukong too
They get teased a fair bit.
This was a sweet one, thanks for asking!

Shadowpeach Celestial Prince Macaque AU, when Wukong lost the battle against the Emperor + gets trapped in the mountain, the Emperor lies that 'Wukong is dead' to Macaque...
Macaque is heartbroken and runs away from the Celestial Realms...
Macaque travels all across the Mortal World, in the form of a mortal monkey...
Eventually, Nuwa asks Macaque to raise MK (Chaos Harbinger), Macaque says yes + Macaque gets a job at Pigsy's Restaurant...
When Macaque sees that Wukong is alive, he cries tears of joy! 😭
previous
Oh that's fun. (Lemme throw more fairytale and children into it, I can't help myself, must give the monkeys babies)
I've got two ideas with this
Wukong is under the impression that Macaque is being held against his will in the celestial realm with no knowledge that he's a prince, a misconception only stoked by Azure to rile Wukong up into attacking them to save his love, and the only reason Wukong thinks that is because Macaque chose not to tell him, and now he's dead!
The Jade Emperor put a spell on his ears to block him from ever hearing Wukong again, he's not going to loose another child to their foolish young love.
So Macaque actually thinks he's dead.
This is the tragedy route:
He's absolutely heartbroken and guilty over it, because he thinks he got him killed! He really did love him, he even confessed to him shortly before the rebellion started!
He's too inconsolable with grief to leave the fortified tower his parents put him in for his own safety during the fighting, he's hardly the strongest of combatants being a fairly sheltered youngest child. He can throw a mean punch, and has phenomenal powers but little control over them, and that's about it.
His parents do start to feel pretty bad for making him think the love of his life is dead, but they are committing to it because Macaque is just a kid in puppy love to them, and Wukong was a danger.
What if he dragged their little moon flower out of the safety of the celestial realm and down the mortal realm? What if he turned their son against them and they were forced to punish him alongside the other rebels? They couldn't so blatantly show favor to their son.
It was better this way. Their son was safe and wouldn't be tempted by the draw of the mortal realm anymore.
Macaque stays in the celestial realm for a couple hundred years, his parents were already devastated by Iron Fan leaving them, he couldn't hand them another heartbreak so soon. And the one he would leave the realm for is long dead.
On an unrelated note, he notices his clothes getting tighter around the stomach as the years go on.
He stays the good son he was before meeting Wukong, he doesn't have a thought of leaving the realm at all, he's the perfect prince.
He mostly stays more hidden away in the orchards, having become much more introverted since the rebellion.
But all is well in the celestial realm.
Until he has a visit with Guanyin, a goddess with maternity aspects, and she notices something amiss.
Turns out the perfect prince had a secret little roll in the orchards with the celestial realm's no. 1 annoyance if you catch my drift 😏
Macaque is obviously mortified! He didn't think they could make anything together, but
Tumblr media
Macaque doesn't want his parents knowing about this, obviously he fears their overreacting to him carrying the child, children Guanyin quickly corrects, of their most hated enemy!
He knows what happened to his sisters who had children with mortals, and he knows what happened to Erlang's mother for doing the same, and while Wukong isn't a mortal, he knows he wouldn't be spared their wrath.
And since he still thinks Wukong is dead, he doesn't wanna loose him babies who could be the last thing he has left of his first and only love. (Don't worry I'm not killing them this time)
Guanyin comforts him and suggests he come to her realm in the southern seas so his cubs can be born in a safer place, though Xiwangmu as a mother goddess would obviously know when he gives birth, and would know one of her children is currently expecting.
And what do you know? She suspects exactly that and Macaque overheard her talking with JE about it, and thinks he's already been found out.
Macaque is panicking big time thinking he's in big trouble and then Nuwa comes to him like
Tumblr media
She's decided the panicked pregnant celestial monkey is the perfect parent for the harbinger of chaos, and gives him a way to avoid his parents and have his babies + her harbinger, and she puts a spell on him that'll make him disappear to the eyes of the celestial realm when he accepts.
Macaque ends up traveling the mortal realm disguised as a normal monkey demon.
MK hatches around the same time as his twins are born, so it's easier for macaque to just label them triplets and call it a day without going into the whole "a snake lady gave your stone egg to me when I ran away from my over protective parents" bit.
He teaches the triplets how to hide their ears like him, and once they're old enough, he tells them about their Papa, who they must never mention by name or else they will be in big trouble, he heard his parents fury over his disappearance, he's playing it safe.
So it's just a single dad and his three kids traveling around until they come across Megapolis, and he decides this is a nice place to settle, he gets a job at the local theater as a performer, and his kids favorite restaurant is Pigsy's, and MK ends up working full time there, while the other two end up working with him at the theater, but learning a fair bit from watching the pig chef.
Macaque and Wukong do meet again, but due to the damage done to his eyes from the furnace, Wukong can't see him, and Macaque can't hear him, he's still got the spell on him.
Hear no evil, see no evil, and the kids are speak no evil cause they can't bring this shit up or their whole family is exposed and there will be bad consequences.
Shenanigans ensue.
In case you don't know, I'm taking some elements from the og Rapunzel, mainly the twin pregnancy and prince(Wukong in this case) character being blinded/suffering eye damage.
And this is the comedy route:
Where when fighting, Wukong says something about saving Macaque from the cruelty of the celestial realm while fighting the Jade Emperor and he's just like "you dumb boy, that's my son, the fuck are you on",
Things work out much better once Wukong explains that he was only fighting cause he thought macaque was in trouble, and while he did wreck shit, it does get him a few brownie points with his in-laws because he was willing to fight heaven for their son.
Wukong is still blamed for Princess Iron Fan eloping with DBK, and they get a little extra protective of macaque, but things eventually work out fine and Nuwa gives them a rock soon to be baby MK as a wedding gift.
The wedding is a bit rushed because the surprise pregnancy was found out earlier and the royal couple won't let their grandchildren be born illegitimate.
Thanks for asking!

Gay Uncle Macaque AU, I believe that when Wukong realizes that Macaque is MK's Uncle, Wukong gets possessive...
Wukong angrily pounces, and attacks Macaque, then Wukong bursts into tears and hugs Macaque tightly...
A few minutes later, Wukong gives Macaque a tear-filled glare...
Wukong: You will NEVER leave me again...
Macaque: (Scared, but also weirdly happy...) 😳
a possessive Wukong you say? 👀
I'll keep this light
He's very clingy, he likes Macaque's personal space as much as Macaque does, much to the six eared monkey's annoyance.
Macaque doesn't like his constant clinginess or his mild aggression towards his family, but he does like that Wukong probably? isn't super mad at him anymore.
Wukong calms down after a bit and becomes normal about Macaque again, if he didn't Macaque would've snapped, it's hard lugging around a stone monkey on your back all day.
Thanks for asking!

Gay Uncle Macaque AU, where Macaque leaves Wukong, after hearing the future (where they lose to Heaven + Macaque would've died by Wukong's hands)...
What if Wukong finds out that Macaque is in a 'mortal disguise'?
I imagine that Wukong feels anger + sorrow + love all at once...
What if Macaque reveals all the details to Wukong, Macaque had heard with his future hearing... that Wukong would betray the Brotherhood... as well as Wukong killing Macaque...
Would Wukong feel guilty for being angry at poor Macaque + guilty for the possible future, where he could've killed Macaque? 😨
Wukong has a lot of feelings upon realizing Macaque is his successor's uncle who's been living in a mortal disguise.
He has learned to handle his emotions much better by the time they meet again officially in season 3, but seeing Macaque again gives him a rush of that old anger and he's immediately on Macaque, only to have it turned back on him by one do the crew saying how Macaque told them about LBD, and he's been a part of MK's life for way longer than Wukong had.
lots of mixed emotions are happening with Wukong, especially once Macaque reveals he thinks LBD is the one who tried to steal MK when he was a child, he never was able to track down the demon responsible for it, until he was faced with her again.
Wukong doesn't like that LBD targeted his successor when he was a child and is begrudgingly grateful Macaque was there to save him.
Once LBD's dealt with, the two have a much needed conversation, at Macaque's insistence, and he explains like he did before, but finally tells him that he heard himself getting killed by Wukong. He knew they'd fail, and there was a high possibility of his own death, and when they didn't listen, well he wasn't going to stick around.
Tripitaka ended up being completely right in his interpretation of Macaque's actions.
Wukong is definitely guilty for his past treatment of Macaque, even when he wasn't there he spoke so terribly of him because he knew he'd hear it. He's also insanely worried that he might still be a threat to Macaque's life, they've had a rough go, but he still cares about his shadow. He's horrified by the very idea of it.
Thanks for asking!

Hello! I have an awful angsty plot idea for you because the idea of expanding on it makes me want to cry and you seem like you enjoy pain.
Instead of the typical sub-text of Macaque fell first, Wukong fell first. Like so first, it was all the way back before he scrubbed his name from the scroll of the dead. Maybe Wukong saw that Macaque dies because he died and wasn't there to protect him. Maybe he panics so hard, he goes overboard about obtaining immortality thereby leaning into the whole "I DID THIS FOR US!" thing.
And to really make it hurt, let's add Hanahaki into this. (A chronic version that's more like a common cold or an inconvenience because the terminal one is too sad and has an ick factor).
I also have it in my head that once you develop this Hanahaki for someone, every injury you give them, flowers bloom in the same spot. If you kill them, the flowers kill you. If you say, take out an eye, a riot of blossoms will take your eye as recompense.
So Wukong gets to deal with falling in love with his best friend, being too emotionally immature to deal with it/ not be given the emotional tools to help himself, being left with the knowledge that if he dies, Macaque will likely follow for one reason or another (ie. depression, fighting whatever killed him, illness etc), whatever bullshit Heaven's got going on and the numerous stresses of actually ruling a kingdom.
Oh and the flowers currently choking his airways occasionally if he thinks too hard about how pretty Mac looks in the moonlight.
(This guy needs a hug and therapy and he hasn't even seen the inside of the furnace yet :) )
Macaque in the meantime has no idea that Wukong is in love with him, possibly doesn't know he reciprocates, and is left wondering where the smell of Moonflowers is coming from. (Oblivious to love character who is otherwise the most observant, my beloved.)
The only one who might know is DBK and that's only because he caught his Xiandi coughing up nearly a whole bush's worth of flowers the night before they rebelled.
The furnace burns most of it away from his lungs, leaving him breathing clear for the first time in centuries and they go into semi-dormancy once the argument happens. (Wukong can't help the massive glob of full blossoms and vines that he spits out after Macaque leaves.) It comes back with a vengeance and takes his eye as he takes Macaque's.
(Both are in such pain that neither notice the icy blue chains grabbing Macaque in his shadows.)
Fast forward to LMK era and due to the fact Wukong has lived with this disease for so many centuries, it's actually starting to be more like the traditional lethal variety. It has spread through his lungs and is starting to burrow into his circulatory system and muscles. No one was meant to live that long with it whether through acknowledging and letting go of the feelings or by confessing.
The only reason it hasn't turned him into a walking flower garden of pain is because he's managing to repress like a motherfucker and he rips his heart and lungs out twice a year to regrow what has been taken over.
Which is a major contributing factor to his decision to retire. Holding on to his feelings hurts so much but he doesn't know any other way to live. And something has to give.
None of the gang know about the flowers, but DBK blows an entire gasket when Wukong hucks up another glob of flowers and catches sight of his moonflower-filled eye socket during a brief glitch in his glamour when they are both caught in Spider Queen's web.
It's a very confusing evening for everyone else when DBK insists Wukong comes with him for a check-up, Wukong refuses adamantly and neither of them are saying a damn word.
Although Wukong will give the damn flowers one thing. By not having the control to repress his feelings once possessed, the flowers grew so quickly through his body that by the time LBD had him fighting Macaque and MK, he was more vine than muscle and so much easier to fight.
She didn't have to drop his glamour though.
(Don't think of the heartbreak Macaque would feel about the sight of Wukong's eye, a beautiful devastating proof that everything really had been for us him.)
(Sorry for just dumping this massive ask, but I started and I couldn't stop. Have fun and I sincerely hope I'm bullet-proof cause this is about to hurt.)
oh even if you're bullet proof, I'm about to nuke you with angst. I do enjoy causing pain thank you ☺️
sorry for delayed response, I'm on a trip with family til Wednesday and will be slower to answer, but good news! I infected my cousin with the gay monkeys! Thanks to Nezha 2
I gotta go to bed soon too so I have to rush sorry!
Think Flower Blind is a good name for this?
Wukong being stupidly madly in love with macaque from basically the day they met is such a sweet idea, and to twist it like this is just so wonderfully evil 😈
And the flowers growing over wherever you hurt the person you love, genius!
It'd be really funny if some god sent the Hanahaki because they saw how down bad Wukong was and thought this would help since certainly he couldn't hide it forever, but then he did.
Back to angst!
I love this variant of hanahaki being a petty one, like oh you hurt the person you love get it back ten fold bitch! Now admit you're in love and we'll go away!
Hanahaki really is just that one Doge meme with the toy dogs, only if they don't kiss, death.
Man can't even think about the guy he loves without the flowers trying to force a confession out of him. I do love an oblivious macaque, he can comprehend anything except that his best friend is in love with him.
After their fight under the mountain, flowers start growing from his peach marking on his chest, even though they are dormant during his imprisonment, once he's out there's a few blossoms growing near his heart, a representation of the emotional damage he did to the one he loves.
I'm guessing Macaque never dies by Wukong's hand here, since Wukong would die too. But Macaque still dies.
It's LBD, she makes Macaque think Wukong killed him, and Wukong thinks this too, he just assumes his immortalities were enough to stop the petty flowers from killing him.
He does have a gaping feeling of emptiness and loss when macaque dies, the white moon flowers now have another meaning besides his unexpressed love, his unending grief and mourning for his friend, and they are a near constant reminder of a love that could never be.
He looses his sight in the eye he took from his love, the only thing he can see is the white petals of the moon flowers. Not even gold vision gets through them, he just sees Macaque's face, now missing an eye whenever he tries.
Nobody ever take relationship advice from this guy, he literally rips his own heart out rather than accepting his feelings or confessing them. The flowers are fed up with him now and trying to kill him.
Even Spider Queen is telling him to get his shit together when she sees him vomit flowers out onto her mech, this is the worst case of hanahaki ever. DBK is the most angry and is threatening to tell MK about it if Wukong doesn't go get checked out. He doesn't follow through cause that should be Wukong's choice but it's about the principle! His brother is dying!
And the flowers immediately giving LBD a problem when she posseses him is kinda hilarious, I've kinda given these flowers sentience in my mind so they are fighting LBD's possession too, and they will not allow LBD to kill their source (Macaque) again.
Once the glamor is dropped, probably in the middle of their battle and Macaque sees Wukong become a walking flower tower, he's frozen for a good few seconds, the flowers won't let Wukong attack him until LBD puts more focus into controlling him, and by then he's recovered from the initial shock.
When they get close too each other in the battle and macaque stares into the unseeing eye of his best friend/unrequited crush, he realizes he was wrong about everything, he remembers when Wukong started smelling like moon flowers, he played it off as wanting to smell more like him or spending so much time around him that he picked up the scent. Macaque knows how long this has gone on.
Wukong should be dead. The flowers should have killed him.
He isn't, his life is constantly, never ending pain because he couldn't confront his feelings for him and the flowers are making him regret everything he has ever done.
But! Macaque doesn't know if he loves Wukong anymore.
LBD was very good at convincing him that Wukong killed him and she saved him and twisting his memories into Wukong knowing of his feelings but disregarding them, effectively killing any love he still had for him upon his death.
He knows Wukong loves him, has always, always loved him, and he did too once upon a time. He doesn't know if he could return Wukong's feelings if had the chance, he doesn't know if he can save him from his pain and prison in the flowers.
Once LBD's defeated and Wukong has the control to suppress the majority of the flowers again and his glamor back, he tells Macaque all his feelings and everything that he did, it was all for him, he didn't want him to die and he lead to his death even if he wasn't the one to kill him directly.
And what is Macaque's response?
He says he needs to think and leaves.
I bet the gay bunny god is crying seeing all this drama go down(there is a gay rabbit god in the Chinese folk religion i just can't remember his name rn, he has a temple in Taiwan!) he wants these two to be happy gods dammit!
I'd love to expand on this more but I gotta go to bed!
Thanks for asking, really enjoyed it!

Your accidental asshole au is so interesting! Do you think shadowpeach actually mention that they are both avoiding each other for the sake of their mate and not their own feelings before Azure rolls up to wreck their house a second time, or are they still circling around it by that point?
Also, you tagged the first post Accident Asshole AU and the second as Accidental Asshole AU, so they don't show up together. (I only just stumbled on your blog so if you don't generally tag your AUs consistently feel free to ignore this)
Thanks for catching that, I do consistently tag my aus so that's pretty important to have correct lol
I'm glad you're enjoying this au so much.
By the time Azure shows up to wreck shit again, they have talked things through mostly, they are communicating (a miracle I know). Their biggest problem is that they haven't worked on their issues with themselves quite yet, so they are both still blaming themselves for everything that went wrong.
So yes, both.
Azure showing up to pull the same shit different century doesn't have the intended effect of driving them apart again, because the moment Azure insults one of them, the other is immediately like "aw hell no that shit was my fault", then they start going back and forth about who's fault it actually is.
Azure's counting on them not having changed very much since he last saw them, jokes on him they changed a lot, and it's because of his scheming to break them up. He's still talking shit about how bad of a mate Macaque was, but Macaque agrees with him while Wukong is winding up a punch.
He needs a new scheme to break them up or at least fragment them ASAP.
Thanks for asking!

Dad Macaque AU, after Bai He got possessed, then Macaque stole MK's powers to try saving Bai He...
When Macaque traps MK with the staff, Wukong arrives, and he's shocked to see Macaque alive...
Wukong: Macaque... it can't be... is it you?
Macaque: (Silently summons shadows to attack Wukong, as he portals away...)
MK: Wukong, who was that?... Why did he steal my powers?... And why did he look so sad?
(Later in Season 3)
Macaque: Wukong... MK... Let's get this over with.
Wukong + MK: Macaque?!
Wukong: Why are you working for the Lady Bone Demon?!
Macaque: I don't need to explain my reasons to you... I have a job to do.
MK: Macaque, you don't need to do this!
Wukong: Macaque, I know when you're holding back... you don't want to do this... why are you doing this?
Macaque: ... Lady Bone Demon took something very important from me... And I'm getting it back... even if it means the world's destruction!
(Later)
Macaque: “Don't get in my way, MK. I don't have time for you. I'm just here for the Samadhi Fire. Then I'm done with you all.” Macaque: “Not another move! I'll give you two options... Option A: I take the Samadhi Fire, you do exactly what I say, and I don't have to do anything you'll regret... Or Option B, I cut you all down. Starting with Mei!” Macaque: “Tang. Do what I'm telling you to do! Mei's life depends on it. Finish the ritual!”
Tang: "What is so important that you threaten innocent lives?!"
Macaque: "The Lady Bone Demon has my daughter!" 😠
alright seriously who gave you access to my Cracked Family season 3 notes? The situation isn't the same, but Macaque acts very similarly. How did you find it?!
That last line is a huge shock for everyone. No one gets a chance to properly react, Tang has to continue the ritual, and it goes as it does in canon with Macaque dipping out before anyone can ask any questions.

Shadowpeach AU, where everything is the same, except Possessed Wukong is super possessive over Macaque...
Deep down, Wukong still loves Macaque, and Lady Bone Demon's possession corrupts that love into something twisted and selfish...
LBD tells Possessed Wukong that he can 'have Macaque back', in the new world, in exchange for his loyalty...
Instead of beating up Macaque, Possessed Wukong roughly kisses Macaque, using LBD's psychic magic to knock Macaque out...
Thankfully, a freed Wukong and Macaque were still able to help in the final battle with LBD...
Wukong feels so guilty about what he did to Macaque in his possessed form, that he apologizes to Macaque (for both what he did while possessed + for what happened during the West Journey)...
Macaque is shocked; he says that he doesn't COMPLETELY forgive Wukong, but this is a start! =')
I know some fanfics you can read if you don't mind the explicit stuff lol
The idea of Wukong just going "mine" over macaque and LBD having to deal with the dumb gay monkeys is hilarious.
Or just, Macaque and MK expecting a big fight, but instead of that, Macaque gets pinned by and they make out while MK and LBD are watching from where the staff is unsure of what to do next.
This was a funny one, thanks!

Shadowpeach Idea, where Macaque is forced to go on a date with a Powerful Female Demon, in order to save MK (Macaque + Wukong aren't happy):
Macaque: Wukong...you're supposed to be helping the others save MK.
Wukong: The others can handle it... Besides, what if you need saving?
Demon: Yoo-hoo! Macci-poo! Your queen has arrived! Yes!
Macaque: Second thought, maybe I will need saving.
Demon: Now take my arm, lead me in, and would it kill you to smile?
(Macaque forces a savagely lopsided grin onto his face.)
Macaque: (through gritted teeth) Maybe.
Wukong: (Growling in jealousy!) 😠
Lady Earth Flow would be the demon! That's right up her alley!
Lady Earth Flow would have kidnapped MK to get back at Wukong for their encounter on journey, and because she could use MK to get something from the Monkey King.
What does she want?
Well, some powerful dangerous artifacts that shouldn't be in the hands of someone like her, and to have his mate for the night. She's a known man-eater in Jttw, so they are pretty sure of what she'll try to do to Macaque at the end.
If she gets what she wants she'll allow MK to leave the following morning. If she doesn't, she'll eat him, and if she discovers them trying to save him, she'll eat him.
They have to go with it in order to get MK out of this demon's clutches. Macaque goes along with the whole date thing, acting his ass off to not show how annoyed or unhappy with the situation he is, so that the rest of the crew can sneak into her lair and get MK out.
Macaque is very good at getting her to keep her hands to herself as long as he can, he doesn't appreciate her constant advances. He's also focusing on monitoring how the rescue situation is going so he knows when to get the hell out of there.
Wukong definitely has a clone hidden on Macaque to let him know everything that's happening, he's seething with rage at every advance she makes. Macaque can hear it and is trying really hard not too blush too hard.
Everything works out okay in the end, MK gets saved, Lady Earth Flow is beaten and Macaque is also safe and uneaten in any way.
He absolutely teases Wukong for being jealous afterwards
Thanks for asking!

Dad Macaque AU, what if after Bai He is freed from possession, Macaque believes that she died at first...
Macaque tearfully and angrily joins Wukong + MK in destroying LBD...
After that, Macaque hugs his daughter's body, and tearfully wails in grief...
Wukong, MK and the others begin to cry as well...
But then Bai He wakes up, and Macaque cries tears of joy! 😭
Macaque can't escape the dead kids in any of my aus gods damn
LBD's getting wrecked by angry shadow baba. Parental rage is on full display and nothing is stopping him from wrecking the bone bitch.
It's honestly terrifying.
There is a lot of crying and macaque being very protective of his cub's body once the battle is over, even if they are allies no one is touching his baby.
But then she wakes up and is fine, except for the massive truck load of trauma she has now and that her dad's ex tried to kill her but she's fine, she's getting a therapy cat!
Thanks for asking!

Dad Macaque AU, all poor Macaque wants is to have a family, and a peaceful life... He DOESN'T even want revenge against Wukong, or anyone... He just wants a peaceful life, with his daughter...
But Wukong's enemies keep attacking Macaque, and his daughter...
Macaque is frustrated, and Wukong's enemies enjoy his frustration...
Macaque: I just want a peaceful life, with my daughter... Is that so much to ask?! 😠
Lady Bone Demon + Fake Mayor + Spider Queen + Azure Lion + Nine-Headed Demon: Apparently, it is. 😏
Macaque: please, just let me have one good day 🥺 The universe: oh my gosh, you again? Give it a rest buddy 🙄
that's it, that's the entire au

A DIFFERENT Shadowpeach AU, where everything is the same, except Macaque was born blind...
Macaque gets around with his 6-ear hearing + ability to sense magic...
Blind Macaque is a badass and MK thinks it's awesome that Macaque is so powerful, despite being blind!
Blind Macaque is somewhat sassier, then in canon!
People often forget that Macaque is blind (except for Wukong)! >=D
I know you probably meant this as something else but all I can think of is Macaque using echolocation to get around just, making cute little chirps and sounds to get a sense of his surroundings.
He's the king of echolocation, six ears baby!

D-di-did JE make Macaque canabalize their daughters 😨
No.
What he did make Macaque do wasn't much better
🚫TW for blood and dead babies🚫
Tumblr media
The cub with three ears is my OC Chao-Xing, the cub with one ear is this aus version of Bai He!
If you look close, you'll notice their ears aren't glowing, that wasn't a mistake, their ears not glowing means their dead.
The monkeys were fooling around doing ~stuff~, one thing leads to another and they got a pair of stone eggs on their hands.
They were excited, but Macaque decided it would be best to keep them hidden until the war was over. Only the stalwart generals and a few other monkey demons knew about them.
They hatched early due to the environmental stresses of FFM being attacked, Macaque left the battle to deal with the attack and was there when they hatched.
They were captured with him and quickly identified as the harbingers of chaos, their purpose is to cause a great change to the order of things, and the have the power to fix the pillar of heaven in case anything ever happens to it. Grandma Nuwa gave them that power in the egg.
Speaking of Snake Boi, he is the one who advised that the harbingers be destroyed to save the universe.
The Jade Emperor made Macaque kill his own children in front of Wukong. Their death scars are shape like crescent moons!
They were about a month old when they were killed.
Xiangliu "disposed" of the bodies. He had his own uses for them.
So there's still a resurrected six eared monkey running around and fucking with MK by the time of the show, she's just got much more valid reasons for her behavior because she got murdered when she didn't even do anything.
Bai He still gets possessed by LBD, that was not in the plan and Chao-Xing had to run damage control to manage the unforseen development.
They keep their identity concealed while dealing with MK and the crew, to them, they are just some snake demons who really don't like Wukong, and hate Macaque.
They do remember getting killed due to Xiangliu's interference even though they were a month old. He didn't let them remember any of Macaque being a good dad.
Is this horrific enough? :D
Thanks for asking, once I saw this ask I needed to draw it.
Grinning Shadow AU Masterpost
Edit: drew them resurrected!
