LP.8.1, was first detected in July 2024. It’s a descendant of Omicron KP.1.1.3, which is descended from JN.1, a subvariant that caused large waves of Covid infections around the world in late 2023 & early 2024.

Idk if anyone else have done it but here's my take at least-

Introducing... G̶̪͊l̶̡͛i̴̮̋t̶̘̂ć̴̨h̸̼͐!̵̼̂SMG4! AU

And now a small fun cutscene for this au-

SMG3 slams SMG4 door open, barging into his room. "FOUR WHAT THE HELL?!?!! YOU'VE BEEN STAYING IN YOUR ROOM ALL DAY!! I SWEAR IF YOU'RE DOING THIS AGAIN ON PURPOSE I'LL-!!!"

SMG4 turns around with a sharp gasp.

"What the...? Four? What's going on here...?"

Sooo basically after IGBP, SMG4 slowly started to develop this glitch effect, at first he could hide it, but as time goes on it got worse... Especially after they moved to the new castle-

It started off small, a quick flash, a small glitch that could easily be mistaken for a trick of the light, a blink and you'll miss it moment.

Which is why for a while no one noticed, not even SMG4... But when he did start seeing it, he wasn't sure if it was real or just a hallucination...

So it took a while for him to realize and accept something is actually wrong, until he accidentally glitched while holding an object and breaking it when he got startled.

It would start getting worse, but he figured out that staying calm helps reduce and control it almost, while strong emotions often bring it out, so after that he was mostly able to keep it under wraps.

He didn't want to lie to his friends... But he couldn't help it, he didn't know how to explain why he even started glitching in the first place (well... maybe he has a hunch on why but he didn't want to admit it to himself-). Or why he didn't bother to try telling them until now...

It's not like it bothers him particularly (except maybe on a bad day, which usually he stays in for those days, excusing himself by saying he felt sick.), he felt fine! ...Aside from maybe some weird lingering tingle or static like feeling, but that's all!

So he kept quiet and maybe sometimes, his friends would start noticing something was off, but they could never quite put a finger on it, as SMG4 would reassure them that he was fine and/or tell them they were just seeing things.

Obviously they noticed his weird behaviour and started getting suspicious of him anyway, Especially SMG3, so he can only convince them so much before they all inevitably find out one way or another...

Extra notes:

Is this a form of corruption? Kinda? But no, not really, it's more like a wild uncontrollable power he acquired since it can definitely be used to his advantage or do something destructive if left unchecked (more in a future post maybe)

What prompted me to create this Au? Well it started when I thought about other ways SMG4 might get affected after IGBP and then i started thinking about vanellope from wreck it Ralph and immediately my mind was like... GLITCH POWERS!!! :D (It just make sense, after all that's his original name- oh yeah it's all comig together, putting the glitch back in supermarioglitchy4 baby!!!)

What does his glitch power entails?

Well here's a few abilities i have listed for now! (Note; they might be subject to change in the future)

-Teleportation (can glitch through things)

-Painful regeneration in exchange for invincibility (aka he's immortal! But recovering from a critical or fatal injury is still very painful)

-Partial shifting by touch (related to his teleportation but also glitchy nature which he can change, move or remove something by touching something while glitching)

Extra ability

-Enhance speed and strength in a short burst

-Ability to change and modify his voice

Emotions effect

Happy/excited: speed increase and more control/higher accuracy

Sad: lag/slowness and higher regeneration

Angry: power intensity increased but pain doubles and regenerate slower

Scared/shock/nervous: decrease control and accuracy making him glitch a lot more

Will there be more added to the story?

Yes! Still developing it since it's mostly just a concept still so, many things might change along the way.

I've had this idea for a long while now, but never really got to make more of it until now! I hope you enjoy it! :)

The new ghast are INCREDIBLY cute. And I can’t help thinking about them from a lore standpoint now. These new variants bring into question a lot of things about how ghasts work and grow.

to make the happy ghast your essentially domesticating a wild baby you found right, acting as an outside force, bringing it to the overworld and taking care of it with water and snowballs. But how does it work without player intervention?

Are dried ghasts an exception where fate just ended up leaving the poor thing there? Or do all baby ghasts dry up like that as a part of their life cycle? And water can’t really exist in the nether so do they hydrate using lava instead? And they can’t eat snowballs there either so do they eat like- Magma cubes or something?

it’s also interesting to note how the baby happy ghast has those like red gills? You know how if you look behind fish’s gills you see the red underside. Is it like that with the ghastlings? You can see it on the babies but once they grow it’s gone, but not really? Maybe they just close their gills more so they don’t inhale all that excess air while flying or something? Or not to inhale that hot air and smoke in the nether?? And babies float low to the ground so they don’t really need to close their “gills”. If that’s even what they are (Although that brings up the case of the harness, because it almost seems to cover the gills so if they were actually gills that might inhibit their breathing)

OR

Do you think they’re just stripe patterns? red ones to help them blend a little better with their environment as babies because they’re bright white and easily visible amongst the red environment of nether. And as they grow they lose the stripes because they’re big enough to not worry about predators.

Were ghasts originally overworld mobs but were banished there (or maybe introduced to that ecosystem and the overworld varient went extinct) and that’s why they’re so miserable because they’re really not built for that environment but essentially adapted to living there anyways??

It’s so interesting because it’s essentially adding lore to a mob we already know about! Some mobs don’t have variants that bring into questioning why they’re like that, Atleast not into the case as we see here.

And nothing happens to them besides their well-being genuinely getting better when they come to the overworld. They don’t get all rotten and zombie like, like the piglins and hoglins do (I mean I’m sure they could but not by being exposed to the overworld) and I know that applies to a lot of other nether mobs as well how they’re just not affected by the dimensional traversal.

After binge watching all tiktoks and reading works of Maskless Mark x William (love how it has basically become canon within the fandom lmao) I came across ONE tiktok suggesting that Omni mark was in the same situation but with the Amber from his world. Basically, he's a version of Mark that never got with Eve and still dates Amber.

And me, with my undying love for Amber Bennet, now I'm obsessed with the idea of both Maskless Mark x William AND Omni-mark x Amber. Scavenging to find works about them, art, anything.

Imagining that while all the other variants are there for the thrill of violence or freedom, these two only agreed for love. By the promise of seeing their partners again even if they're from another dimension. Maskless looking for William midst the chaos while Omni-Mark tracks Amber down.

And maybe kidnap them to the dessert with them and now have to be stuck together until they get out

trying to put words to how exactly my peter pettigrew deviates from fanon and i think ultimately, as most things, it has to do with james. because peter meta is at its best when you (correctly, i think) understand james potter as a villain in the story. james potter is interesting precisely because he is seen as an infallible hero by one half of canon AND irredeemable villain by the other, but both groups technically have an accurate understanding of him. and his behavior (and your perception of him) wholly depends on what side of the gulf you're standing on.

like, james is an amazing friend and gallant war hero but he still sexually harasses snape in public with impunity. he became a good husband to lily but the way he treated her for years was exploitative and gross. these are facts. and it tracks that the people who have only been exposed to james's ugly side would (accurately) see him as an entitled scion who wields societal power and chooses to abuse the powerless. to "dark wizards", james is as much an example of privileged pureblood cruelty as canon draco is to canon harry.

and peter pettigrew is interesting because he is someone who, for unclear reasons, was lucky enough to be picked as a "good guy" and thus be treated well by "good james". except unlike everyone else who has encountered or been won over by "good james", peter still sees him as a villain and is incapable of forgiving him— for valid reason!! peter is still a gryffindor at his core and he has gryffindorish motivation. like, his murdering james isn't a judas escariot story. from peter's perspective it's far more like Claudia killing Lestat.

thinking about lux… alan cumming my hero. the fourth wall breaks scared me so bad actually because every little thing they do i lose my mind over. second episode being a battle with a god and also the music similarities from s1 devils chord and this one in regards to older nuwho songs - the masters theme (when maestro played the four knocks/beats) and the eleven era music in general for this episode it’s interesting the choices they are making because WHAT DOES IT MEAN.
