Top five canon ships from your fandoms?
canon ships? what're those. also I mean. how "canon" are we talking, like, explicitly canon, implicitly canon, they-get-together-at-the-end canon, they-at-some-point-were-a-thing canon, plausible-deniability-canon, it's complicated
but okay, to try to take this in the spirit it was probably meant
Hua Cheng/Xie Lian from TGCF. one of the most incredible things about TGCF is that it actually made me wholeheartedly and enthusiastically ship a completely canon and...relatively functional...ship. I mean, they've definitely got their dysfunction (Hua Cheng get some self esteem and maybe pedestalize Xie Lian a little less challenge) but they're weirdo4weirdo and friends in a delightful way that makes me really enjoy how they do it. I'm not saying they invented love, as the saying goes, but they're certainly good at it.
Felix Harrowgate &/ Mildmay from Doctrine of Labyrinths. look, if there's explicit incestuous attraction at at least one point I think it counts. this is one of those ships that straddles the line between & and / for me a lot of the time, because any sexual stuff aside it's so intense and intimate that, like. it might as well be a "classic" ship, just without the sex, and we're agreed that something doesn't have to have sex in it to be a ship, right? and there is the canonical one-sided incestuous attraction, so, like. it's not even completely without the sex.
Vegas Theerapanyakul/Pete Saengtham from Kinnporsche. cannot believe that this is canon thing that actually happened in a show that I watched. made 4 me. incredible. forever grateful to Kinnporsche for giving me this gift.
Caleb Widogast/Essek Thelyss from Critical Role. I feel like it's canon enough? maybe that's controversial but I'm going to stand by it. fascinating dynamic, two fucked up people being fucked up together, atonement arcs that aren't usually my thing but crossed with a wondrous amount of wizard hubris and people who are both kind of bad at being people. I'm into it.
Chu Wanning/Taxian-jun from 2HA. this spot was more of a toss-up but ultimately I settled on these two. I specify Taxian-jun here because while I really enjoy Mo Ran/Chu Wanning other flavor it's truly the Maximum Fucked Up that gets/got me. the hate/love/obsession of it. so good, I'm rolling around in it like a cat in catnip. thank u Meatbun for giving this to me with all its laundry list of associated trigger warnings
I feel like everyone should know how fucking tempted I was to put xuexiao on here. because it was very tempted. they're so close, you guys, I would argue implicitly canon, but, well. probably not what you meant, anon.
a number of what I'd call "plausible deniability canon" ships from mxtx, really. but again, spirit of the question.

Vegas fic series (establishing of relationship)
Mod Sun x Chase Hudson x Machine Gun Kelly
Tumblr media
Stepping out into the night air in an attempt to catch a breath of fresh air; Chase brought his arms around himself. Taking in the quiet, he shut his eyes as he hoped to block out the uncertain words swarming his head.
"You know...a body like yours is apparently addicting" Derek spoke when he rounded the corner; his eyes landed on a clearly wore down Chase. "Got a minute?" He asked; needing to express a few things to the boy.
Chase jumped as Mod's voice penetrated the bubble of silence around him. "Is it? Colson says it'll be the death of him." He smiled; opening his eyes to a comfortable looking Mod Sun. "yeah I've got a few minutes, what's up?" Chase thumbed at the sleeve of his hoodie.
"We got to talk about...." Derek started but let go of a sigh. "...about the very terrifying fact where I'm falling for both you and Col- Kells" he let his arms fall to his sides as he lowered himself onto the ground. "I shouldn't be, yet here I am."
Colson was about to step out when he heard his friend talking. He furrowed a brow at Mod's hesitation on his name. Something in him told him to be quiet for once and just listen.
"I don't know if I should even admit it or say it out loud" he ran a hand through his hair: gathering his thoughts. "You know I lo-" he hadn't even said it out loud to Kells, what was he doing? "I love Kells and that's isn't going to change" Chase whispered; looking at his feet as he talked. "But I find myself loving you too" he looked to Derek; biting his lip as it was out there now no taking it back.
Hearing his boyfriend saying he loved him went straight to his heart. Colson's smile was fond, but he waited to hear the rest. The next words from the younger man's mouth had him ready to step in if anyone got their heart broken. He had put the pieces together that Chase was pining after the singer when they got back from Vegas.
He listened as Chase spoke his mind. "I know you love Colson, you've been good for him." Derek would drop it if this was the boys way of saying there was nothing mutual. "You...what?" His head shot up as Chase spoke the next few words.
"I love you just as much as I love Colson" Chase sat down in front of Derek and looked at the man. "I almost feel guilty about it." He was honest in saying he may have thought about Mod as much as he had his boyfriend lately. "Something about it jusr feels right, I feel safe with the both of you."
Colson let Chase finish speaking before he injected himself into the conversation. "I love you too, baby" he whispered as he sat down; pulling Chase into his lap. "You love mod, huh?" Colson smiled; running his hand over the boys arm. Looking up at Mod, he smiled and stuck his tongue out.
Derek fumbled as he looked for the words to say and looked to his best friend. "Damn you kells" he smiled as the blonde put am arm out to him.
"I guess I do, yeah" he instinctively leans into Colson's chest. Relaxing as his boyfriend wasn't mad. "I think you already knew that though." Chase whispered as Mod took Colson's hand; coming forward.
"I figured it out after Vegas" he laced his fingers through Derek's while he talked. "You were a bit of a wreck to be honest." Colson smiled; pulling Derek towards them. "It wasn't easy seeing you seem like you were lost."
Looking at the youngest of them; Derek brushed a thumb over Chase's cheek. "I've broken just about every one of my rules because of you" he glanced to Colson; grinning as the rapper's head was at rest on Chase's shoulder. "You did seem lost though, like you were figuring stuff out."
Chase leaned into Derek's hand as it cupped his cheek. "That's a theme with you two, breaking the rules over me" he hummed as Derek's other hand ran through Colson's hair. "I had a lot to figure out and loving you wasn't easy admist all of it."
He leaned in; one hand cupping Colson's head, the other, Chase's cheek. "That's pretty much hitting the nail on the head." Derek brushed his fingers over Chase's lips and smiled before kissing the boy; savoring it as they tasted of raspberry. "Worth trying a poly relationship?"
Colson felt the anxiety smolder and fizzle out as Derek's fingers were gentle and grounding. "Rules are made to be broken with this boy" he mumbled; letting his eyes shut. "Mm, I'm sold on the concept."
Chase stopped Derek from pulling away. Pulling the older man back into the kiss; he slipped his arms around Derek's neck and tugged at his upper lip. "Don't pull away yet, please" Chase felt at home with himself for the first time and hummed as Colson's arms wrapped around his waist.
Derek brought his other hand up; hooking his thumbs behind Chase's ears. "Mm, not going anywhere" he steadied himself and smiled as the boy held onto him like a lifeline. Derek pressed a kiss to the corner of Chase's lips and looked at him once Chase pulled away.
He pressed a hand against his boyfriend's stomach and smiled as the boy and his bestfriend kissed. "God, you two idiots are adorable." Colson shook his head, moving his hand downwards.
Running his hand over Chase's thigh; he slipped it under the boy's shirt. "You don't realize how beautiful you are" Derek kissed Chase again and moved to the boy's neck.
Chase locked his fingers in Derek's hair; breath catching as the man kissed his neck and Colson's hand palmed the bulge in his jeans. "Humm fuck" he gripped Derek's shoulder; reveling in the two men making of him.
Colson grinned; undoing Chase's pants as they teased him. "Let's take care of you baby" he squeezed lightly and moaned as Chase's hips rolled against his dick.
Derek let a hand drop. Meeting Colson's as he kissed back up to their boyfriend's lips. "You always this hard around us?" He licked over Chase's lip and smiled as the boys hips arched.
"Please" Chase whined as Colson's hand breached his boxers as Mod's palmed him. "Fuck, mod, please" he was begging and needed relief.
Colson pulled Derek into a kiss and grinned Chase's hips. "How about you suck his dick" his eyes sparkled as Chase begged for relief from the teasing. He pumped the boy a couple times and hummed as Derek shifted.
Getting Chase's jeans and boxers down; Derek sucked at the tip and swirled his tongue around it as Colson's hand occupied the shaft. "And what? You're gonna watch?"
Colson's hands on his waist prevented Chase from bucking his hips upwards, making him whine out as Derek's mouth was barely on his dick. "Mo- need more" he gripped Colson's arm and whined.
"Mhmm" he pressed a hand to the back of Mod's head and smiled as Derek looked up at him. "C'mon babe, he's begging for it" Colson keened, pushing Derek's head down a little. He kissed over Chase's neck and smiled as the boy's grip tightened.
Derek let his eyes shut as his head was controlled by Colson's hand. Wrapping his lips around Chase; he hollowed out his cheeks and sucked lightly. Moaning as Colson looked at him.
Chase forced his eyes opened and bit down on his lip as Derek was at Colson's will. "Ughhh, ohh fuck" His dick taking up space in the man's mouth as he sucked. He shivered as Colson bit at his neck.
Hearing chase moaning was sweet and dirty. Hollowing his cheeks; Derek felt the ghost of tears welling at his eyes and managed a breath in through his nose. Just in time too as he was basically forced to take all of Chase as Colson pushed his head down again.
"Right like that babe" Colson bit his lip as Derek's cheeks showed the outline of Chase's dick. "Fuck I don't think I'll ever get tired of this." He mumbled and groaned as Chase bucked upwards into Derek's throat
Getting enough leverage as Colson removed the hand off his hip, Chase bucked upwards. Fucking himself into Derek's throat as the man let himself be used. "Shit, mm close" he cried out as Mod's hands gripped his ass.
Colson licked his lips as Chase had been reduced to whining and bucking his hips as they worked his dick. "Don't cum just yet." He wrapped a hand around the boy's neck and kissed him roughly. "You cum when I say"
💚 💚 💚
Derek ran his fingers through Chase's shower damp hair and grinned as the boy curled into him. "You alright baby?" He asked, massaging the boy's thigh.
"Mm, mhmm" he mumbled and curled into Derek; drawing an arm up he cupped his boyfriend's cheek. "Kiss?" Chase asked, looking up.
He kissed Chase softly and cocked an eyebrow as the boy shifted, sitting on him basically. "Don't think another round is in your best interest right now."
"Not interested in sex right now." Chase tilted his head; looking up as Colson walked in. "Other things in mind" he mumbled as he pumped Derek's semi hard dick.
Colson smiled a crooked grin as Derek hadn't clued in yet. "Ohh, this" he took up the other side of the bed and kissed Chase softly.
"Kind of looks like that" Derek hummed as Chase nuzzled at Colson's cheek. The blonde was gentle with the overused boy.
"It's not what you think, mod" Colson leaned down and kissed him as well. Wrapping his hand around the man's dick, he smiled as Chase sighed out, sinking onto their boyfriend's dick.
Chase sighed out as Derek's dick filled him, letting himself relax, he walks his hands down the man's chest and leaned forward. "Cockwarming" he mumbled as Derek wrapped an arm around him. "Innocent really"
Derek hummed into the kiss with Colson as Chase leaned forward and layed out on top of him.
Colson shifted and lit a blunt as Derek pulled him close. "Just his way of feeling like he's safe." He kissed Chase's cheek and slapped the boy's hand away from the blunt. "You and I used to do something like it, but it was usually when I was too tired to really do anything."

Doctors Orders - Morgan Rielly part 3
A/N: Again no one asked but here’s a part 3 :)
Word count: 2322 words
Warnings: just some swear words.
Mon Nov 18
You woke up the morning after your date smiling. You sat up and checked your phone, as soon as you checked it you can’t help but smile.
From Morgan: Hey, just got home. I had to help Tyson to his room and make sure he stayed in bed, that boy owes me big time.
From Morgan: Good morning
To Morgan: that’s poor boy haha, and good morning
From Cournty: hey! Do you have the day off? I’ve got some running around to do/doctor's appointment and don’t wanna brag Luna around
To Cournty: yeah, just have Jake bring her by before he leaves for the airport
You put your phone down before you go to the bathroom and brush your teeth. You return to your bedroom and grab your phone before you go to the kitchen and your phone goes off.
From Jake: ill be at your place in 10
To Jake: okay
From Leah: i’m on my way home, coffee?
To Leah: yes please
You go and sit on the couch before you turn on the TV and watch the news. You were messing around on your phone texting Morgan about your plans and what time he’s planning on heading to the airport. You weren’t paying attention until the door opens.
“I found someone.” Leah says and you turn around to see Jake standing there with Luna in his arm.
You jumped up and ran to the door before you take Luna from Jake and give her a hug. As soon as you hug her you move her to my hip and hug Jake. He gives me a kiss on the cheek before he puts the diaper bag down.
“So, as your big brother I feel like I need to ask about your date.” he says and Leah comes and takes Luna to the couch.
“What do you mean?” you ask forcing a smile.
“I mean, you’ve been on two dates with him. Is it getting serious?” he asks.
“I don’t know J, you’re not meeting him if that’s what you’re hinting at.” you say.
“Y/N, you never let me meet any of the guys you date!” he exclaims.
“Because you scare them away! Let me get comfortable before I introduce him to Jake Muzzin.” you say and he nods before he puts an arm over your shoulder.
“Meet me halfway. What’s the guys name?” He asks and you can’t help but bite your lip.
“Morgan.” You say and you can see Jake eye you as if trying to see if you were talking about Rielly. Of course you were but no way in hell you're telling Jake that.
“Weird. Mo is seeing someone named Y/n who’s also a doctor?” He says looking generally confused.
“Y/N is a common name. I’m sure there’s more than just me.” You say and he just nods before he drops it.
“Before I forget. You’re coming to the game on the 30th if you’re not working over night. Alex and Morgan want to meet you, I’m pretty sure Morgan thinks you’re fake because he’s never met you.” he says and you tense for a second.
“Sure.” You say.
“Okay, I gotta go I’m picking Mo up.” Jake says and you just nod as Leah brings Luna over.
Luna puts her arms out to Jake who takes her a kisses her cheek.
“Bye my sweet girl.” He says says before he gives her back and I give him a hug.
“Be safe please.” You say and he nods before he kisses your head.
“BYE LEAH!” He calls out.
“BYE JAKE!” She yells back before he leaves and you take Luna to the couch.
Luna was on your lap as you put The Little Mermaid on and Luna giggled. You smile as your phone goes off signing a text from Morgan.
From Morgan: So has your brother dropped his daughter off yet?
To Morgan: yup and we’re about to start a Disney day!
You put your phone away before you cuddle Luna close to your chest as she giggles.
The rest of the day was easy. You just watched Luna and talked with Morgan until his flight. Around 5:30 pm Country walks in the house, she comes right over to the couch and sits down before you hand her Luna and she looks at you.
“What?” You ask and she just smiles.
“Just because Jake is dumb as a sheet of paper doesn’t mean I am.” She says as your jaw drops before you quickly recover.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You say quickly.
“Oh please Y/N, Morgan is seeing this young doctor named Y/N and you’re seeing a guy named Morgan?” She says and you just roll your eyes “so it is Rielly!”
“you can’t tell Jake!” You exclaim.
“I won’t, but you should.” She says and you sigh.
“I want to figure out what Morgan and I are first.” You explains and she nods before she gets up and walks towards the door.
“Don’t wait too long though y/n/n.” She says before she gives you a hug and leaves.
You head back to the living room and sit back on the couch. At about 7 pm you decide to get up and go make some dinner. You began to make yourself mac and cheese when Leah walked in the room. She jumped up on the counter and looked at you.
“Yes I’ll make you and Carter dinner.” you say rolling your eyes.
“Not what I was going to ask but thank you!” she says smiling.
“Whats up?” you ask as you start to grate cheese.
“I’m not going to be home this weekend.” she says and you nod as your phone goes off.
You decide to ignore it until you finish making dinner and putting it in the oven. You sat at the table before you open your phone and see Morgan texted and snapchatted you. His snapchat was just a goofy tired smile with the Vegas location tag, you smile and just send one back before you answer his text.
From Morgan: hey we just got back to the hotel
To Morgan: got back?
From Morgan: Muzz and Bears wanted to go to the strip
To Morgan: oh fun
The idea of Morgan and Jake hanging out wasn’t odd to you. You knew they did it but now that you’ve gone on dates and are talking to Morgan it made you feel uneasy. You pushed the thought to the back of my head when you heard the timer go off. You go take the Mac and cheese out of the oven and get yourself a plate before calling Leah and Carter. The two of them grabbed plates and sat at the table.
“So y/n, does Jake know?” Carter asks.
“Nope.” You say before you start to eat.
“Is he going to find out?” He asks
“Nope.” You say again and he just nods.
The rest of dinner was silent until Leah offered to do the dishes in which you agreed and went to your bedroom. Looking at the clock that reads 9 pm, you put your phone on the charger before you go and get a shower.
After showering and doing your nighttime routine you put on an over sized shirt and get into bed. Right as you were about to fall asleep there was a knock on your door before it slowly opens and Carter sticks his head in. He sees you in bed and he sighs.
“Do you have tampons?” he asks.
“Does Leah not have any?” you ask and he shakes his head “well, I hate to break this to you but looks like you’re going to the store.”
He just sighs and goes to shut the door but you stop him making him turn around and look at you.
“Yes?” he asks
“Did Morgan say anything to you about last night?” you ask and he smirks.
“What was last night Muzz?” he asks raising an eye brow making you roll your eyes.
“Dumbass, go to the store.” you say and he laughs.
“Fine, he did. He didn’t give me much just said he had a good time and can’t wait until they’re back.” he says and you nod smiling to yourself.
“Get me some Gatorade for tomorrow please.” you say and he nods before he leaves shutting your light off and shutting your door.
TUES NOV 19
You had woken up to your phone going off. Sighing you look at the time and see it was only 4 am and the hospital calling. Sighing you answer the phone.
“Hello?” You say.
“Doctor Muzzin! I know you’re supposed to be in at 6, but Doctor Jay has asked me to call you early because he’s concerned with Alexis.” Allison explains and you nod knowing she can’t see you.
“Let me get dressed and I’ll be right in.” You say before you hang up and get out of bed.
You quickly get up and put on your scrubs before you throw your hair into a bun and put your glasses on. You unplug your phone before you go to the bathroom and brush your teeth. Once you’re done you quickly go to the kitchen and grab your lunch before you get your keys and head out.
You make your way to your car and start the drove over to sick kids. Seeing how it’s 4:15 am the streets were dead. You parked the car, grabbed your lunch bag and got out. You lock the car before you you head into Sick Kids and go to the 5th floor. You drop your bag in the staff room before you go to the nurses desk and punch in before you see doctor Jay. The second he sees you he thrusts a chart into your chest and you sigh.
“Good morning to you too doctor Jay.” you say as you open the chart and look at it.
“Good morning doctor Muzzin.” he says.
As you look at the chart you don’t see anything wrong. Sure her numbers are slightly elevated but nothing that concerned you, they’re actually lower than when you left the other day.
“Chris, what exactly is wrong with this?” you ask.
“Her numbers are high.” he says and you sigh.
“Did you look at her previous charts before you told Allison to call me?” you ask annoyed.
“No.” he says slowly.
“Chris, these are things you need to look at.” You say sighing “I understand you’re filling in for doctor Jasper tonight but you’ve been a doctor for long enough to know that you need to check her charts. Do you even know what medication she’s allergic to?”
“She's allergic to something.” He says and you look at him with your jaw dropped.
“You didn’t even look to see that she's allergic to Ampicillin?” You ask and he shakes his head. “Doctor Jay you’re done for the night, thank you.”
“You can’t send me home.” He says and you look at him
“Excuse me? Yes I can. I am the shift doctor making what I say go and you called me in therefore relishing your authority. Plus I have more experience than you as a doctor on which automatically makes me take over when I start. Now this will be filed to doctor Montgomery who will look at it so would you like to add not listing to a superior to the list?” You ask and he shakes his head “I didn’t think so. Goodnight doctor Jay.”
With that he walked away and you went to sit down but Allison stopped you.
“He kinda freaked out in the room and called me to ask me to call you in so Alexis parents are kinda freaked out.” She says smiling.
You sigh before you grab her chart and walk off to her room. Once you get there you knock softly before you poke your head in. You see Alexis' parents look at you before they get up and meet you at the door. You stood back so they could join you in the hall.
“First things first good morning. I would like to apologize for doctors Jay's actions this morning when he freaked you guys out. I want to assure you there is nothing wrong with Alexis. In fact her numbers went down so I would like to run another test today to see if they’re back up or if it’s finally going down for good.” You explain.
“Thank you Doctor Muzzin.” her mom says and you nod.
“Of course, I’ll come back around 8 for that lab okay?” You say and they nod before you leave them and go back to the nurses station and start writing an email to the head of pediatrics.
As soon as you finished the email your day started and things got crazy. By the time 6 pm rolled around you were exhausted. When you rolled into your apartment you dropped onto your bed. You were about to fall asleep when your phone went off.
“Hello?” you answer half asleep.
“I haven’t heard from you all day so I wanted to make sure you didn’t die.” you hear the voice say and you instantly smile.
“Nope just a 14 hour nonstop day.” you say.
“14 hours? Y/N that’s crazy!” Morgan says and you sigh.
“It is what it is Mo, It’s my job.” you say.
You end up talking with Morgan about your work and how he’s stressed that Babcock might get fired and how it’s a lot of pressure on him. The two of you talked until had to leave for pre game and you were about to fall asleep. Morgan promised to call you after work tomorrow. You went to the kitchen and reheated the mac and cheese from last night. You quickly ate before you went to your room and passed out as soon as your head hit the pillow.

WWE Smackdown Live 8/20/19 Review
Randy Orton promo: he called Kofi Kingston a coward for getting himself counted out in their match at Summerslam. He continuously called him stupid, over and over again. As he was finishing up, the New Day music hit, and Kingston ran in and attacked from behind with a Trouble in Paradise. He was going to try to destroy his ankle with a chair, but the Revival ran down to make the save. So, Kingston just beat them with a chair for their trouble.
Grade: C+. Short and mildly sweet. Orton cut a pretty good promo, with a lot of fire, but ultimately it didn’t add much to the story. The attack was nice and made sense. But the story didn’t really need this promo, unless Orton is going to constantly call Kingston stupid from now on.
Kevin Owens & Shane McMahon backstage: the two talked about Owens’ fine from last week. Owens said that he wasn’t there to cause trouble, and he asked Shane to reconsider the fine. Shane actually said that he would consider it. I wasn’t a huge fan of this, because Owens wasn’t the badass son of a bitch that he usually is. It makes sense that he would do this, but it wasn’t very cool, if I’m being frank.
Andrade vs. Apollo Crews in the first round of the 2019 King of the Ring: Zelina Vega was in Andrade’s corner. Crews started the match with a huge lariat right at the bell, but only getting a near fall. Andrade responded with the running double knees for a near fall of his own. Crews tried to fight back, but Andrade tied him up in the ropes with an armbar. Andrade then tried to hit some high flying offense, but Crews caught him with a dropkick. The story of this match seemed to be that Crews new exactly what Andrade would throw at him, as he was constantly able to counter his moves. Crews hit a nice combination of strikes, followed by an olympic slam for a near fall. As Andrade went to the top, Crews hit a huge ensiguri, and went for a gorilla press, but his arm gave out. From there, Crews went for some sort of move, but Vega grabbed his leg for the distraction. Andrade then hit the back elbow and the Hammerlock DDT for the win.
Grade: B+. Really good stuff here, both guys gave this match everything they had, and for such a short match, they pulled it off. They had a fast paced contest that was very exciting. They also told a good story of Crews being able to best Andrade at every turn, only for the interference of Vega to be the deciding factor. This could be the penultimate point in their feud, but due to the interference, I think they have one more match in them.
Daniel Bryan and Rowan backstage: the two led a figure with his head covered into an empty room. They said that they will reveal what he did tonight. So that is presumably the culprit.
Elias backstage: he was just walking around playing guitar, when he grabbed a random dude and unzipped his jacket, revealing a referee’s shirt. He then found Drake Maverick in a box nearby. He then beat Maverick up a little bit, and told him that the 24/7 championship rules were suspended for the night. He then put him back in the box and left. That is incredibly annoying and a great heel move.
Moment of Bliss: Alexa Bliss hosted alongside NIkki Cross. Bliss talked about how they were humble champions, saying that her show would be for the less fortunate people who don’t have belts. Charlotte Flair was welcomed as their guest. Charlotte said that the King of the Ring throne was more like her type of chair, which Bliss largely ignored. Charlotte said that she took the torch from Trish Stratus at Summerslam, and proved that she is the queen of all eras. She then talked about Bayley, saying that she the face of the brand over the champion. She called Bayley an afterthought, which brought Bayley out with them. She said that Charlotte was just making excuses. She said that she was better than Charlotte, and Charlotte responded that her match with Stratus at Summerslam was what people were talking about. She then challenged Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions, which Bayley accepted. Bayley then pushed Charlotte out of her chair and the two left.
Grade: B-. Charlotte’s promo skills are awesome, and she made some really good points about why she should be the next contender. Should be a really good match, and one that I’m unsure of who the winner will be.
Buddy Murphy Backstage: Roman Reigns came up to him, and asked him about who attacked him. Murphy said he was pretty sure that it was Rowan, but he didn’t know for sure. Reigns said that if he was lying again, he would kick Murphy’s ass.
Buddy Murphy vs. Daniel Bryan: Rowan was in Bryan’s corner. Before the match, Bryan got on the mic and insulted Murphy for not being certain whether or not Rowan was the attacker. Then he confirmed that they will reveal the culprit, and said that Murphy had something to do with it too. The match started and Murphy took Bryan’s head off with a high knee for a near fall. The two then had a match that was full of stiff strikes and kicks the entire time. At one point, Murphy gave Bryan a huge meteora off the top for a near fall. Bryan then locked in a Lebell lock on Murphy, tying him up in a similar manner to Zack Sabre Jr, just pulling all of his limbs as far away from the ropes as he could. Bryan then gave Murphy the Yes kicks, but as he went for the final kick, Murphy dodged it and hit a hook kick. So then Bryan put Murphy in the tree of woe, giving him a series of kicks and a low dropkick to the face. He followed it up with a back drop superplex for a near fall. Bryan tried for another superplex, but Murphy slid out of it and hit cheeky nandos kicks, and then a powerbomb out of the corner for a near fall. The two then traded blows over and over again in the middle, both hitting huge combinations that ended with a pair of knees and a brainbuster from Murphy, but Bryan got his foot on the ropes. Rowan hopped up on the apron, which distracted Murphy enough to net a rollup. Murphy kicked out and gave Rowan a superkick. Bryan rolled him up again, but Murphy kicked out again, delivered a huge knee and then Murphy’s law for the huge upset.
After the match, someone tried to interview Buddy Murphy, but Rowan attacked and gave him the iron claw backstage.
Grade: A. This was a pay per view match that they held on smackdown. The action was incredibly exciting and the hits were very very hard. They kicked the living crap out of each other. Murphy had back to back great matches in two weeks, so they better give him a push out of this. He is a great talent, and probably a future WWE champion if they put faith in him. He is a top star, and they need to see that in him. A huge win, and a good way to forward his feud with Bryan and Rowan. I don’t know how much longer it will continue, but I am really into it.
Heavy Machinery vs. The Revival: both Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson had taped up ribs for this match, due to Kingston’s attack earlier in the night. Before the match, the Revival got on the mic and called the New Day cowards. They insulted Big E and Xavier Woods for the attack from Raw. They then issued a challenge for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships at Clash of Champions. Heavy Machinery then came out to interrupt. Otis started out with Wilder. The faces worked over the heels’ ribs, and gave them stereo vertical suplexes to start things off. Also during this match, commentary coined the team name of the Revival and Randy Orton as #FTRKO. If only they would tell us what #FTR means (Fuck the Revival). We saw some nice hot tags from Otis and Tucker alike. The finish kinda came out of nowhere, as Dawson ran interference on the compactor, so Tucker took him down with a Thesz press, only for Wilder to run up to him and get him in a pinning predicament for the win.
Grade: C+. Fine match, nothing really of note here. Nice to see some other tag teams be represented.
Chad Gable interview: He mostly talked about how he was an underdog, but the story here was the Shelton Benjamin, his super weird opponent for the King of the Ring first round match, was doing stuff in the background. First, he just gave him a weird look, but then he put a sign on his door that said “you must be this tall to be in the king of the ring tournament.” Weird to make this the story when the two are literally former tag team partners. Shelton will probably win their match, and given his weird promos lately, he might actually win.
Miz TV: Sami Zayn was the guest for the show this time around. Zayn immediately crapped all over the show, so Miz pointed out that he has done nothing but lose lately. Zayn said that while that was true, he realized that he needs to help other people rather than try to attain success. So, he decided to start managing, and his first client is Shinsuke Nakamura. So I guess Nakamura has a mouthpiece now, which he definitely needed. Miz asked why Nakamura would need Zayn if he is already champion, but Zayn responded by saying that he is needed because of the language barrier. He said that Nakamura is a poet, and it kills him inside that he can express himself. So Zayn will help him with that. Miz refused to listen to Zayn, so Nakamura kicked him in the head and nailed a Kinshasa. He continued to stomp on him in the corner until Zayn pulled him away, and nailed another after the fact.
Grade: B-. Fine segment and an interesting new pairing. Zayn hasn’t been doing much of anything lately, so this is a fine role for him. Nakamura did need a mouthpiece, and Zayn is great at that. This could be a fun pairing, but we will have to wait and see how good it is.
Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens backstage again: Shane told Owens to apologize for attacking a WWE official, Elias at Summerslam. He also said that if he ever did it again, then he would be fired. Owens tried to shake his hand, but Shane refused.
Elias vs. Kevin Owens in the first round of the 2019 King of the Ring: the two started out with some of their usual offense, some striking mostly. Owens started to fire up a bit after some of Elias’s signatures, hitting a German suplex and a canonball for a near fall. Shane McMahon then came out so that he could watch from ringside. Elias still took control and maintained it throughout the match. At one point, Owens was looking for a Vader Bomb, but Elias caught him in an Electric Chair, and then spun him around into a powerbomb for a near fall. The tow then battled on the top rope until Elias fell off, but he still managed to get the knees up before a Swanton Bomb. The two then brawled to the outside, where Shane told him to leave Elias on the outside, and took off his shirt to reveal a referee’s shirt. He then replaced the ref and fast counted Owens during a role up for the win.
Grade: C. I bumped this up a bit because of the Shane stuff. He is being a good heel right now, and it was a creative ending to a mini story that had permeated the whole show. A lot of people don’t really like when stuff is overbooked, but I kinda do. Makes things interesting when done right, and this was. It was a good heel move, and it rose hostilities between Shane and Owens again. The match was pretty bleh though. Elias is probably out of the tournament next round.
Whodunnit reveal: Reigns joined Bryan and Rowan backstage for the reveal of his attacker, and it turned out to be a dead ringer for Rowan. What the flying fuck? W-why? Where is this going? Who is he? I have so many questions, and I am pretty confused.
Overall Grade: B-
Pros: Andrade vs. Crews; Murphy vs. Bryan; Zayn as a manager
Cons: main event; whodunnit reveal

Applied kinesiology is a special system that evaluates  mental, structural, and chemical aspects  of one’s health in combination with muscle testing and other forms of diagnosis.
This system is very unique compared to most common healing procedures but serves as a specific movement in the healthcare community. While it’s very compelling in standard medicine, it is even more common in the chiropractic community. Dr. Francis uses this system to create a functioning balance and therapy toward the imbalanced aspects of each patient’s needs.
In the structural, chemical, and mental components of the body, there are many points that these primary aspects affect. The areas in the body affected are:
Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF): The craniosacral mechanism area of the body affects the temporomandibular joints.
Nerve (N): This is our nervous system which transmits nerve impulses between various parts of your entire body.
Neurovascular (NV): The vascular system is mainly known as the circulatory system that carries our lymphs and blood through the body.
Neurolymphatic (NL): The lymphatic system is a network of vessels in which the lymph drains from the tissue down into your blood.
Acupuncture Meridian Connector (AMC): This meridian system holds the blood, energy, and info of your entire body

Dr. Timothy Francis always wanted to spread his the word of his experiences and knowledge with those who are about to enter into the chiropractic profession. Many people got to meet and learn from Dr. Timothy Francis and his amazing expertise of applied kinesiology.
Some of his former students have many kind words to say about Dr. Francis:
Dr. Noël Thomas: “I’m Noel Thomas, I’m a naturopathic doctor in Portland, Oregon and I started naturopathic medical school in 2001 and I had the great fortune of learning from Tim, starting in 2001. He’s so passionate about what he does, what he provides, how he teaches. He’s a master at his skill and at his ability to teach and I feel so fortunate to be able to have learned from him and I really just owe so much to him for the skills that I’ve learned. It’s actually really, it’s emotional just thinking about it and talking about it. Personally, it took me a couple of years to fly to Vegas to go see him for my own treatment but it turned around my health in such a tremendous, tremendous way.And taking his 100 hour course all 4 years of medical school and continuing for 4 years after. He is one of the best teachers I’ve ever known, if not the best.”
Juli Tooley, DC: “I have known Dr. Francis since 1997 when I met him at a neuro emotional technique seminar and he told me I needed to come and learn AK from him. His retort was “you don’t know AK the way I know AK” and my retort was “okay”. I ran into him several other times after that and he convinced me that I should come and see how he teaches. When I got to his first seminar I was totally totally blown away because he taught it totally differently than I learned it back in the 70’s.I said, at that point, I’ve been in practice longer than you, I’m older than you and I took 300 hours of AK back in the 70’s. Even though I learned it from George Goodheart in the 70’s, Tim related it to adjusting and chiropractic and it was much more user friendly in my office. I then went on to help him assistant teach for him for 3 years probably up to 3 times a month in Dallas, Portland, San Jose and sometimes Chicago. I’ve kind of been following him around ever since because even though I call him WB which stands for Wonder Boy, he does things that I have not seen anybody else in the country and in the world ( I lived in Italy and practiced there for 2 years) do. Would you suggest that people come to see him as far as being adjusted and being a patient?  Of course. He will always be my go-to person if I have a problem, if I have a patient with a problem or if my family has a problem. No matter how difficult he can always figure it out.So, I would urge anybody who wants to further their career as a chiropractor and be able to help more people and teach people to come and follow him, listen to him, take seminars from him because he is a plethora of information and experience that you will not get from anybody else in the world.”
Dr. Nicholas Jung: “The way that I got exposed to Dr. Timothy Francis was actually through my uncle and other mentor, Dr. Kingman Fung. So, even before I was in chiropractic school I worked as an assistant for my uncle I’d been exposed to what was possible in the healing realm. It’s even expanded exponentially since the first time I was exposed to it. I’m so grateful for that because all of my patients now are improving in ways that I didn’t even know were possible before this. And so the bar was set and I waited the last 6 years in order to take his course, so I had to complete chiropractic school and about 5 other courses just to get into this, in order to be in the room, in the seminar to learn the goods.  ”

A Wild Night in Vegas -- Part 19
I can’t believe how quickly @outlandishchridhe and I got this chapter written. We sat down for a few hours and BOOM! Chapter 19 was born! This is a major set up chapter that will lead into some really amazing things we’ve got planned for the future. So stay tuned!
Also, Ish is IN LOVE with all the little baby things Fergus does, so I added as many as I could just to make her squeak.
Check out chapter 18.3 HERE or the whole fic on AO3 HERE
Waving at his wife and son, Jamie left for work. His day went smoothly, though his mind wandered to Murtagh. He hadn’t seen or spoken to his godfather since the showdown with Claire. When lunch rolled around, Jamie took the time to call Murtagh.
“Fraser,” came the gruff voice on the other end of the line.
“Murtagh, it’s Jamie.”
“Took yer sweet time callin’ me back,” the other man muttered.
Jamie sighed and got his thoughts in order.
“I have some things I need to say to ye and I need for ye to listen. Can ye do that? Wi’out interrupting?”
“Aye,” Murtagh said. “I can.”
“I’ve spoken wi’ Claire about why she snapped at ye. I’m sorry for what she said to ye and I ken she is as well. But ye must know something. She and Fergus are my life, Murtagh. This relationship I have wi’ her is the most precious thing I’ve ever had. I’ll no’ let it fall by the wayside. Do ye understand?”
There was a long pause and Jamie wondered if his phone had died.
“Aye. And I’m no’ tellin’ ye to abandon yer family, ken? I’m only sayin’-”
“No,” Jamie said sharply. “I willna gi’ them up. No’ for anything. You’re my family, Murtagh, but if ye force me to choose between you and Claire, I’ll pick her. Ye might want to keep that in mind next time ye come by.”
Jamie waited patiently for Murtagh to formulate his response.
“Maybe yer right, lad,” he said. “Ye arene the same man that left Lallybroch, that’s for sure. I ken I had no right to demand ye leave yer pregnant wife behind. And I havena treated her verra well since. Pass on my apology?”
“Aye. But ye can apologize to her in person when we have ye over sometime. I canna say when, I have to talk wi’ Claire first.”
“Of course, ye should speak wi’ her about it first. Do ye have some time?”
Taking a bite of his sandwich, Jamie nodded.
“Aye, I’ve a few minutes. Why?”
“There’s some things I think ye need to hear, about yer family.”
For a moment, his blood ran cold.
“What’s happened? Is everyone alright?”
“Oh aye. Everyone’s doing verra well. I want ye to consider taking a trip to see them. Introduce them to yer wife and son.”
“After what happened? They dinna want to see me. No’ after the way I left.”
Jamie took a long drink from his bottle of water, trying to ignore the feelings that came with thinking about his family.
“Christ, lad. Yer mam cornered me no’ long after ye left and begged me to find ye. They miss ye and want ye to come home. I spoke wi’ Ellen a few days ago and she wants to see ye.”
“Ye expect me to just show up at Lallybroch wi’ my Sassenach wife and newborn son in tow?”
“Well ye did just get through wi’ tellin’ me ye’d no’ leave them behind. I’m no’ sayin’ it needs to be right now. Just think on it a bit, aye? Talk to yer Claire.”
“Aye,” Jamie said, mind racing at the new possibilities. “I’ll think it over. I need to get goin’.”
Jamie gathered up his garbage from his lunch and threw it away.
“I’ll let ye go, then. Thanks for callin’.”
“I’ll see ye later, Murtagh.”
####
Claire and Fergus waved Jamie off as he left for work. Once he was gone, she turned her son and smiled at him.
“Alright my darling, how about we go out for a little while?”
He stared up at her, mouth opening and closing with a soft popping sound.
“My thoughts exactly. Come on. A few of my friends are working at my old job and I know they’d love to see you.”
Claire parked the car in the lot outside Springs Preserve and settled Fergus into his sling. She walked the grounds for some time, enjoying the sunny spring day, murmuring softly to Fergus as he gazed up at her, wide awake.
“Claire? Is that you, Claire?!”
She turned at the sound of the happy voice and grinned as a woman bustled over to her.
“Mrs. Fitz! Oh it’s so good to see you!” Claire exclaimed, returning the woman’s hug, trying to not squish Fergus between them.
“You too! Last I saw you, it looked like you were ready to pop!”
“Well, this is him. Fergus Fraser, meet Mrs. Fitz.”
Claire maneuvered and got Fergus out of the sling so Mrs. Fitz could see him.
“Oooh he’s so handsome, Claire! Those eyes!”
“He takes a bit after his father. But he’s a good lad,” Claire joked, cooing softly at Fergus as his eyes tried to focus.
“Ooohhh! That handsome knight you told me about?”
“One and the same.”
Mrs. Fitz squeaked in joy and clapped her hands.
“Are you here for a few minutes? I’m about to go on my break and I’d love to treat you to lunch.”
“We’d love that! How about we wait here for you?”
“Perfect! I’ll be back soon!”
Claire found a small bench and sat, cradling Fergus against her.
“Now that is Mrs. Fitz. She’s one of the reasons I enjoyed working here. She is quite a character, but a very sweet woman.”
When Glynnis returned, she bustled over and lead the way to the cafe. Once they were seated, Claire tried to get Fergus comfortable in her arms.
“He’s a beautiful boy, Claire. I’m so pleased for you.”
“I didn’t think…” she looked down at the little boy. “I didn’t think I’d love him so much.”
“Motherhood suits you.”
The waiter came by and took their lunch orders, leaving them in peace once more.
“Would you like to hold him?”
Glynnis’ face lit up and she gasped.
“Oh! I would love to! It’s been such a long time since I’ve held one so small.”
Claire handed the baby over and laughed as Fergus cooed up at this new face. It was delightful to have some time out with a friend. She and Glynnis talked and caught up all through lunch. When she had to return to work, Claire promised to have her over for dinner.
Glancing at her watch, Claire decided to wander around the preserve for a little while longer. Jamie wouldn’t be home for a few more hours and she was enjoying the sunshine.
“Alright, little one,” she said to her son. “I’m going to tell you something but you have to promise you won’t tell your da.”
With his tiny fist in his mouth, he looked up at her.
“Good. I’ll hold you to your word. But… I’m working on a surprise for him. Our first anniversary is coming up soon and I wanted to do something special. So would you like to help me?”
She smiled down at Fergus and he gave her a slobbery grin in return. Deciding they’d been out long enough, Claire buckled him back into his seat and drove home. After all his excitement, Fergus was asleep before she got back, so she settled him in for a nap. That gave her a few minutes to clean up a little and get the leftovers warmed up before Jamie came home.
####
Claire sat down at the table with the project she’d been working on for the last week. Fergus burbled happily in his bouncy chair, fumbling with one of his stuffed toys. She finished the last piece of the gift and put it all together.
“There,” she said to her son. “Do you think your da will like it?”
Fergus looked up at her, completely unaware, arms starting to wave around erratically.
“Yes, I think so too! Now I just have to get dinner together and in the oven, so you just sit tight.”
Gathering her supplies together, she followed a recipe she’d found for a cheesy chicken broccoli casserole. Once it was cooking in the oven, she cleaned the table and set out the dishes. She changed Fergus into his wee kilt before sliding into her own black dress. Claire smiled as she looked at herself in the mirror, remembering the last time she’d worn this.
The memory of watching him joust and fight in his knight’s costume made her smile. That night had been the first flower he’d given her. Now they had a son and had reached their first anniversary.
When the keys clicked in the door, she gathered her son up into her arms and went out to greet the man of the house.
“Sassenach, I’m home,” he called over his shoulder, putting his keys on the hook.
“So I see,” she said, waiting for him to turn around.
He held a small bouquet of roses in his hand when he turned around and his mouth fell open.
“Happy first anniversary,” Claire said, smiling brightly at him.
“Claire…” he breathed, eyes taking in everything she’d done. “Ye look…”
His mouth opened and closed half a dozen times as he tried to find the words.
“Well,” she said, walking toward him. “Fergus and I thought it was important that we celebrate this properly. So I’ve got dinner ready and a gift for you.”
He looked away from her, his ears turning a little pink.
“We havena talked much about what our actual anniversary is, so… I didna ken when ye wanted to celebrate it. I ordered somethin’ for ye, but it’s no’ come yet.” He paused for a moment, before adding uncertainly, “I brought ye flowers in case ye wanted to do somethin’ tonight.”
“That’s alright, darling,” she said, smiling softly at his wavering voice. “We’ll do something special later for our other anniversary.”
Jamie nodded, lurching forward as Fergus decided he wanted Da rather than Mum. He took the boy into his own arms, giving Claire the roses and accepting her quick kiss.
“Aye, mo chridhe. We’ll do something verra nice. And look at my braw lad! Wearin’ his kilt like a proper Fraser!”
Claire lit the candles and set the table. The casserole sat in the center with a nice cucumber salad beside it. Jamie walked around the front room, bouncing Fergus as he moved.
“We agreed we should both dress for the occasion.”
Jamie tore his eyes from his son and gave his wife a proper once-over.
“Ye look verra bonnie, lass.”
She turned in a slow circle.
“Do you recognize the dress?”
“Aye,” he said, settling Fergus in his bouncy chair again. “Ye wore it when ye came to watch my show.”
He came around the table to stand closer to her, wrapping his arms around her waist.
“You really remembered it from that night?”
Jamie nodded slowly.
“Of course I do,” he said softly. “We went on a proper date that night. How could I ever forget that?”
“You,” she said, draping her arms around his neck. “Are a rare sort of man.”
He smiled and kissed her.
“Indeed I am.”
Jamie pulled her chair out for her and helped her settle close to the table. With a large spoon, he dished up the casserole for both of them before taking his own seat.
“Fergus seems to be gettin’ bigger,” Jamie said, stabbing a cucumber with his fork.
“He is! He’s growing very well, right in line with where he should be.”
Jamie stared at the cucumber on his fork for a minute before he spoke again.
“Is he big enough, ye think, for a trip on an airplane?”
Claire chewed slowly, looking up at him.
“A trip where?”
“Scotland. The three of us could go together.”
He busied himself with his salad, giving her a few minutes to sort through what he’d said.
“You want to go to Scotland?”
“I… I dinna ken yet. But I willna go wi’out you and Fergus,” he added quickly, remembering her anxiety.
She sighed, setting down her silverware.
“Why do you want to go?”
Jamie took his time in answering, getting his thoughts into order.
“D’ye ken what ye said to me when ye had Fergus’ kilt made?”
She nodded.
“I wanted our son to know about his family history.”
“Scotland is a part of that history,” Jamie said. “I want him to ken his family, to meet his granny and grandsire, to meet his auntie.”
Claire watched him for a long moment before reaching out and taking his hand.
“But that isn’t all of it,” she said, her voice gentle.
Staring down at their hands, he took a deep breath.
“Ye ken me too well, it seems. No, that isne all of it. It’s… Since Murtagh came and found me, it’s been weighing on me.”
“What has?”
“The last conversation I had wi’ my Da, all of it. I thought… I thought he hated me and when I learned about his stroke, I blamed myself. I ken I canna cause a stroke, but it all felt like that. I ken he’s alive, but nothing more than that. I hate that the last words we said to each other were full of anger.”
Claire gave his hand a squeeze.
“So you want to try and make amends?”
“What amends I can, at least. I canna take back what I said, or gi’ back the years lost between us. But I can speak wi’ him, introduce him to my wife and son. Maybe begin repairs on our relationship.”
“I think that’s a wonderful idea, Jamie. I think we can start looking into how to make that happen.”
He looked up at her, eyes wide and bright.
“Ye mean it? We’ll go to Scotland?”
“Did you think I’d say no?” she asked him, a short laugh erupting from her at his astonished face. “Scotland is your home. I couldn’t bear it if I was the reason you never went back. So long as you take me with you. Take us with you.”
“When I moved to America, I didna ken when, if ever, I’d get back to Scotland. But it hasne bothered me since I met ye, for you are my home.”
He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed the back softly.
“And you are mine, Jamie. I love you.”
“I love ye too, Sassenach.”
With an immense weight off his shoulders, he dove back into his dinner. Claire got up and poured him a generous dram of whisky before pouring herself a glass of sparkling cider. It was a non-alcoholic drink, which made her more comfortable with it.
Leaving the dishes rinsed in the sink, Claire ushered him to the couch while she tended Fergus.
“I’ve got a gift for you,” she said, sitting beside him.
“Have ye? Claire, ye didna need to get me anything.”
Her eyes rolled.
“Just open it.”
Smiling, he tore the wrapping paper to reveal a picture frame. He frowned down at it, trying to understand what he was seeing.
“I saw this idea on the internet,” she admitted sheepishly. “And I decided to make one for you. Each of those is a location that was important to us.”
She pointed to the first and he realized it was a cut out of a map with a small heart drawn on it.
“That was the bar I worked at, where we first met.”
He nodded, looking to the second.
“Ah! My old job at Excalibur!”
The third was the address of his old apartment, where they’d lived before Fergus was born.
“Okay, I dinna ken what this one is.”
“Well, it’s sort of our firsts. First jobs, first place we lived. That’s our first vacation together, when I took you to Colorado.”
Closing his eyes, he could remember those cool nights spent cuddling together near the fire, or teaching her how to fish. A faint tinge of bitterness swept through the happy thoughts as he remembered his decision to let her go. He’d already fallen in love with her, but she hadn’t fallen for him.
“Hey,” she said softly, her hand gentle on his cheek. “What’s wrong?”
He shook his head.
“Nothin’. Just rememberin’ things. What’s the next first?”
She hesitated a moment before looking back down at the map cut outs.
“Oh! That was our first time at Lake Mead.”
“And the hospital where Fergus was born.”
They smiled at the second to last cut out.
“The first place we got together,” he said, kissing her cheek.
“Our home, wi’ our son.”
The final piece was blank, Claire’s fine handwritten ‘Our Future’ replacing the map pieces.
“I was thinking… When I made this, I decided to leave this blank so we could fill it in later if we wanted. But… Maybe, in the future, we could put Scotland there.”
He nodded, grinning.
“Aye, Sassenach. I think that would do verra well. Thank ye, lass. This was a lovely gift. I’m sorry yours isne here yet.”
“Don’t be sorry, love,” she said, leaning over to kiss him. “We hadn’t talked about it. And I think we should celebrate our other anniversary too. That one is just as important as this.”
“Aye, it is.”
They cuddled on the couch for a little while before Claire fed Fergus and put him to bed. Jamie groaned and stretched before he too got up.
“Come to bed with me?” she asked sweetly, batting her lashes at him.
“Aye, in a moment. I didna get to shower after work. I stink to high heaven.”
“Alright.”
Jamie headed for the shower, already unbuttoning his shirt. He turned on the shower to let the water warm before he turned to close the door. Claire stood in the doorway, watching him with open appreciation.
“Fergus is fast asleep,” she said, walking slowly into the bathroom and placing the baby monitor on the counter.
“Aye, he is.”
“So I thought…” she trailed off as she took the pins out of her hair. “Maybe since our alone time is so rare…” reaching behind her, she began to unzip her dress. “I should join you.”
He smiled slowly, moving to help her out of her dress.
“Oohh… I canna complain about that, Sassenach.”
It was his turn to enjoy the sights as she stepped out of her panties and let her bra drop to the floor. Quickly, the rest of his clothes joined hers on the floor and he offered his hand. She took it and followed him into the warm water.
The water pelted his back as he brought her with him. She brought herself closer and reached up to kiss him. Her left hand began a downward descent, but he grabbed her wrist and shook his head.
“Nay, lass. Ye made me a fine dinner and took the time to make me a wonderful gift for our anniversary. Let me love ye.”
For a few moments, he kissed her hungrily, hands wandering aimlessly over her whole body. His lips traveled down her neck, pausing to nip here and there. His hands finally settled on her backside, squeezing firmly.
Making his way down her chest, he nipped a circle around one breast. In answer to his ministrations, Claire moaned just loud enough to hear over the water.
“Harder, Jamie, please,” she panted, squirming against his mouth as he finally, gently, bit down right where she wanted him and suckled against her.
She moaned again, spurring him on to the other breast, following her chest as it heaved with each breath.
“Ahh!” she cried out as he moved to push her against the tile wall again, cold against her heated skin as he skimmed himself further down her body, pausing to kiss and nip her sensitive skin as he went.
Her hand fisted in his hair as he reached his target. He gently pushed one leg out a little, granting him easier access. The sweet, heady scent of her surrounded him, filling his lungs with each breath.
“Oohhh…” she moaned.
He smiled to himself as she began directing him with the hand in his hair. She continued to squeak as he tasted her, growing ever closer to her climax. But he had other plans.
Standing suddenly, he caught her as she sagged against the wall. She was panting heavily now, her mouth hanging open.
“Why did you stop!?”
“I’m no’ ready to let ye off just yet.”
“Bastard,” she wheezed.
He chuckled, hooking one leg around his hip.
“Do ye ken, mo graidh, how much has changed in a year? How ye turned my life upside down and showed me all I was missing?”
As he spoke, he probed a finger into her.
“Jesus H…”
“Ye’ve given me so much, Claire, and I dinna just mean Fergus. Ye truly gave me something I’ve never had, not wi’ any other person. I love ye.”
“It’s the same for me,” she whined into his ear. “I love you too, Jamie, but…” her back arched a little and she gasped as he added a second finger. “Christ! Please, Jamie! Stop torturing me, damn it!”
Kissing her deeply, he reached underneath her arse and hitched her other leg up around his hip. One arm stayed entwined around his neck as her other reached between them to guide him home. He pushed in hard, making her breath catch and a high pitched noise leave her throat as her had raced back up behind his head and into his hair, holding on tight.
“Yes! Oh God, Jamie!”
Sensitized as she was, she didn’t last long. Her fingers dug into his shoulders as her body shook and contracted around him. Keeping his hold on her, he moved until he reached his own end. He muttered quiet praises in Gaelic in her ear, trying to catch his breath.
“Happy anniversary,” she said with a lazy, sated smile on her lips, leg still wrapped around him.
“Aye,” he answered, kissing that smile. “Happy anniversary indeed. I canna wait to see what the next year brings us.”
He turned the water off and they toweled each other dry. They crawled into their bed, tangling arms and legs together. Claire started to get up when she realized they’d left the baby monitor in the bathroom, but Jamie stopped her.
With the monitor within earshot, he settled in beside her, holding her body close.
“You don’t work tomorrow,” she said quietly, tracing the lines on his face.
“Aye. It’s my day off.”
“What would you say to having breakfast in bed tomorrow? Having an exceptionally lazy day in bed?”
He gently bit the bottom of her ear and smiled.
“Mmm. I could go for a full English breakfast tomorrow.”
“What if I want a Scottish breakfast?”
“Och, well I’ll no’ deprive ye of that! I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see who gets to eat first.”
She giggled and kissed him sweetly.
“I do love you.”
“And I love you. Thank ye for doing all this today. And for agreeing to go to Scotland, Sassenach. I canna tell ye how it lightened my heart to hear ye say those words.”
“Whatever comes, we’ll face it together. As a family.”
“Aye, mo chridhe. As a family.”
Jamie pulled her close, tucking her into the hollow in his shoulder as he kissed the top of her head, and settled in to sleep.

top 5 favorite fucked up but somehow still soft character dynamics!!
ooooh this is a good one...let's see let's see
1. Xue Yang/Xiao Xingchen is definitely the first that comes to mind because it's part of what drives me insane about them! it's the fact that the violence is real, that everything Xue Yang feels about resenting Xiao Xingchen and wanting to bring him down to earth is real, and also the incredibly deep love is also real, an ugly thing that's the best version of it Xue Yang can manage. Xiao Xingchen is his victim. Xiao Xingchen is his lover. Both those things are true, simultaneously.
And not just for Xue Yang, either! For Xiao Xingchen, tormented by the break between a man who ruined his life (and, more importantly, Song Lan's) and the man who's been sharing his life and making it better when he thought he'd never find happiness again. He doesn't have time to really reckon with that - or, well, I think part of why he kills himself is because he can't - but in AUs where Xiao Xingchen survives but Xue Yang doesn't...I don't think Xiao Xingchen comes out of it in one piece. Particularly because if Xue Yang just accepts the two things living side-by-side, Xiao Xingchen wants to reconcile them, or figure out which one was the real thing, and can't figure out how.
2. Vegas/Pete. Once again! Relationships born in ugly violence and destruction that develop into something beautiful somehow anyways. Other people have written more cogently than me about themes of dehumanization/weaponization between these two, and the way they both take turns putting the other person in the position to be a weapon that they're made to be, and then breaking that down, breaking each other down. Pete goes on a very weird voyage of self-discovery over the safehouse arc and comes back irrevocably changed and awfully traumatized (:D), but Vegas also goes on a very weird and unexpected voyage of self-discovery of his own, and comes out of it with a crisis of identity that I think is part of what has him repeatedly making dangerous and potentially self-destructive or even suicidal choices. They both broke something open that revealed something neither of them really wanted to deal with, ever, but there they are and the issue's been forced.
and out of the wreckage of self-image and expectation, they're making something new. but the sweetness of that absolutely does not overwrite the origin and foundation of their relationship and also I don't think either of them is capable of a "normal" relationship with the other person, they're deeply obsessed and codependent and it's great.
3. Felix & Mildmay. They are a mess. Felix hurts Mildmay over and over and hates himself for it but can't figure out how to stop. Mildmay keeps coming back because he has no sense of his own worth as a human being and loves Felix too much to walk away, even if he could, which he couldn't, because he asked for a binding that would require obedience. And sure, he needed it for actual reasons, but I don't think we should underestimate the Thematic Relevance of that as a narrative decision. And yet! And yet!!! They love each other so much, so stupidly much, and over the course of the series stumble into figuring out a way to do it a little better. Them, man. Now I kind of want to go reread bits of the series but I know myself and that will just end up with me reading the back half of The Mirador, again, and crying.
4. Mo Ran/Chu Wanning. I feel like this one is a little bit of a cheat because the "fucked up" and the "soft" are sort of split across two timelines, but I think it counts. Certainly they've got both at varying points over the course of the book! And that's (part of) what makes it so tasty.
5. Trying to think of a fifth and weirdly coming up empty. I feel like there should be an obvious one here. Maybe Beefleaf, though it doesn't feel like exactly the right flavor, probably because even as Ming Yi I would not describe He Xuan as "soft." He's just not. I feel like I must be forgetting something and as soon as I hit post on this I will think of it.
OH actually thought of it as I was writing this post and it's funny because it's one that I feel like was severely underutilized to its fucked up potential in canon, which is Daemon & Lucivar from the Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop. Formative, unfortunately. There are like. Two scenes where the dynamic between them gets weirdly charged, and Anne Bishop gives you just a taste of the way that they simultaneously love and hate each other, are both each others' only comfort and also the people who can hurt each other the most. It's not quite the same as the other ones on this list but I'm going to say that's partly Anne Bishop's fault for passing up the latent potential in this dynamic and turning the fucked up dial at least a liiiiittle more.

December 21-January 6, Arizona-Colorado
We stayed at my sister Alice's, relaxing, on the 21st. Around 11pm our nephew Joseph knocked on our window to tell us he’d discovered my mother, Arlene, had passed away in her bed. She had been going through a 7+ year loss of her mind to Alzheimer‘s, and Alice has been on, 24/7, caring for her. We are both heartbroken by her passing, and relieved at the same time. It’s very confusing to me.
Tumblr media
Gae caught this picture of her on her last day, asking for a smile and being asked, “Why should I smile?”
At 91 years old, mom had lived an awesome life, raising 5 kids, more or less by herself, in the old school of family dynamics. I’ve never had as much energy as she did every day of her life, until age forced her to slow down after 80. I couldn’t have been luckier in having her as my mom.
I realized she passed near Winter Solstice, and ran across the following verifying the date and time... 9:19 pm, Mountain Time on December 21st.
According to Forever Conscious, "The winter solstice celebrates the longest hours of darkness or the rebirth of the sun and is believed to hold a powerful energy for regeneration, renewal and self-reflection. In Pagan times the winter solstice was referred to as Yule and was a celebration of the Goddess (Moon) energy."
Rest in peace, mom, and thank you for sharing your amazing energy with us all.
Tumblr media
Luna had Gae up at dawn on the 23rd for a bathroom run, welcomed by a beautiful sunrise.
Tumblr media
I went to visit my sister Francie in the afternoon, where she showed off her amazing cactus blooms.
Gae and I joined Francie for desserts and drinks on the Christmas Eve, the 24th.
Tumblr media
I took a this great picture of Ian and Francie after some wonderful pie.
Tumblr media
Here’s the Christmas Eve revelers.
Tumblr media
We celebrated again on Christmas Day at Alice’s with lot’s of treats.
Tumblr media
We caught this great picture of Alice in the evening on her favorite night time smoking perch.
We took the van out on the 27th to run some errands, empty the tanks, and fill the propane and water.  Gae enjoyed church on the 29th. Gae and I took Luna back to the Broadway Animal Clinic in Tucson, on the 30th, as she was throwing up her food again. After a Barium dye x-ray, the vet prescribed something to give her with food to relax the valve that allows food to pass from the stomach to the intestines. We were happy to have a non-surgical option, given the success rate around physical fixes.
I worked on removing wallpaper in Mom’s room and sanding the walls on December 31st - January 2nd, and added a window sill, so Gae could paint the room on January 3rd. I drove to Tucson to visit my nieces and Mario, who recently divorced from one of them. I enjoyed all the excellent beer at Tucson’s vibrant brewpub scene, and got a chance to try out rental scooters with Anna, Allie and Mo my last night there, the 3rd. I met with my sister Francie in the morning on the 3rd to check out an estate sale, where I scored some new DVDs for out collection. I returned to Benson on the 4th, where Gae had the room beautifully finished, and we packed up the van for departure on the 5th. We drove a little more than half way, to Las Vegas, New Mexico on the 5th, and arrived at Kipp’s on the afternoon of the 6th, in Denver.

The BIG 4-0, Kansas City, MO, 1/18/19 - 1/20/19
Let me hit you with 40 un-interesting facts about my 40 years on earth!
I’ve woken up and gone to bed 14,600 days in my life.
I’ve put shoes on at least 50,000 times.
I’ve traveled to 31 of our 50 states.
I can’t drink more than 3 beers without waking up to a terrible headache.
I’ve purchased 1 mattress in my lifetime.  For as much time as you spend on them, good ones are worth every penny.
I have a pile problem.  I have piles of laundry on my floor.  I have a pile of mail 4 months old.  I have a pile of paperwork on my desk that stresses me out to look at.  I have a pile of junk in the glove box in my car.  I have a pile of fishing tackle that I swear will one day be organized in tackle boxes.
I have owned eight cars in my lifetime: 1987 Pontiac Grand AM, 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, 2011 Ford Explorer Sport, 2005 Ford Explorer Limited, 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 2011 Ford Explorer Limited, 2012 Jeep Wrangler and 2017 GMC Sierra.
I have called nine different cities home: Kansas City, MO; Raytown, MO; Waseca, MN; Duluth, MN; Bismarck, ND; Bloomington, MN; Eagan, MN; Rosemount, MN and Apple Valley, MN
I’ve broken five bones in my life: both arms, nose, foot, ankle…
…and only the ankle hurt on a similar level to my torn ACL/MCL.
My first day working at Blue Cross Blue Shield was September, 11, 2001.  What a memorable day that was.
My starting salary was $31,000.  I turned down a competing offer to work at a Plymouth small B2B business that essentially lined up     maintenance companies (heating, plumbing, electrical) with businesses that needed urgent maintenance at their facilities.  That job paid $40,000/year.  I would have accepted it on the sole basis of salary, but Mom and Dad recommended I take the job at the stable company, BCBS instead.  Which was a great recommendation.  The other company went out of business 6 months after offering me the job.  Thanks Mom and Dad!
I’ve spent nearly 50% of my life (18 years) working at BCBS.  In those 18 years…
…I’ve had  19 bosses at BCBS: Marv, Karla, Rob, Cheryl, Phil, Kevin, Gary, Mary, Terri, Shawn, Deb, Patrick, Rajat, Jim, Zachery, Maggie, Karen, Janet & Jay
I used to manage a team.  I used to want my boss’ job, and the job of my boss’ boss.  No more.  I love being an individual contributor. I love the flexibility to be a Dad whenever I want or need to be a Dad and not be     tied to the office.
I’ve enjoyed video games since Dad got us an Intelevision with Dungeons & Dragons, Baseball and Racing.  As video games have advanced in technology, I’ve played some pretty awesome games.  My favorites over the years were Super Mario Brothers 2 (which Dad apparently waited in a long line for at KB Toys), Starcraft, Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4, Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty Black Ops 4 (Blackout).
My back, knees and feet hurt all the time.
I always order the same thing off of a restaurant menu, never changing up the order.
Unless I am going to the lake, I have the hardest time getting out of bed in the morning.
My favorite cereals now are the same cereals that were my favorite as a kid – Corn Pops, Apple Jacks, Sugar Golden Crisp.
I prefer to have Diet Pepsi over any other beverage, even if it’s warm cookies or breakfast food.
Due to #18 & 19, I’ve put on an unwanted 20lbs in the past 5 years.
I have been planning the 12 Bars of Christmas for 35% of my adult life.
I love the smell and look of a freshly mowed yard.
I watch the stock market daily, and usually make poor investment choices that are based on my gut feeling (e.g. I saw a huge line at Home Depot this weekend, so I better buy some HD stock!)
I enjoy vacations so much more now then I did 20 years ago.
It took 17 years, but I am finally student loan debt free as of 2018!
In 2011, I ran a half marathon in 2 hours and 1 minute.  The day after making that run, I found out I had caused a stress fracture in my right foot.
Dyan and I posed in this picture together 6 months before we ever met.
On our first date in November, we went to Carbone’s in Rosemount.  We both ducked out of work a couple of     hours early (nobody would notice, right?).     We sat at the bar, each sipping on a drink.  She only had one drink before switching to water.  In my head I was thinking, this must not be going well if she is done after one beverage.  We continued conversing but I couldn’t focus on any of the conversation because I was being     blinded by the sunset as it’s shine was perfectly aligned with me through the front door.  I am sure my ugly squinting was a very attractive first impression.  I left the bar less than 2 hours later thinking I’d never hear from her again….
A few weeks later, she came to 12BoC with me.  The rest is history.  I’ve have checked off some bucket list fishing destinations such as Caddo Lake in Texas/Louisiana, Lake Fork in Texas, and the Atlantic Ocean in the Florida Keys..
...and the biggest bass I have caught to date came from a a small lake (Lake Marion) just 5 miles from my house.  This largemouth was a whopping 5.25lbs.
I’ve been on the losing end of fishing tournaments WAY more than the winning end.  The only tournament I’ve ever won was the Twin City Fishing tournament on Shields Lake in 2013.  It was my very first tournament. Aaron and I weighed a giant, 21lb, sack of fish that only won by mere ounces.  This might be my most favorite fishing story to tell.
If I could be in a different profession, my #1 would be a lawyer.  I think I also would have made a good weatherman, pilot or engineer.
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and crave a Diet Pepsi.  I will literally chug the entire can of pop at 3AM.  Oh, the burn is so good!
My favorite guilty pleasure is playing video games with Josh.
My ideal retirement would be Arizona for Jan-Mar, and a cabin on a MN lake from Apr-Dec.
What does all this mean?
I AM GETTING OLD!
I complain to Dyan about 40 times per year about how much I miss seeing family and how little I get to spend with them.  So for my 40th, Dyan planned a trip to KC to spend the weekend celebrating with my family!
Traveling from Minnesota to Missouri in January. What could go wrong?
Only a big ol’ snowstorm.
Tumblr media
Great.  We decided we’d get on the road early.  Like 4AM-early.  Based on the forecast, if we hit the road by 4, we should be just on the leading edge of the snow before it hits southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.  So, here was the radar when we left Apple Valley vs. the radar when we hit Mason City.
Tumblr media
We beat the storm!
We arrived in Kansas City early, around 11AM and spent some time bumming around at Bass Pro Shops so the kids could stretch their legs a bit.  Daddy had to get a couple Alabama Rigs for the April tournament in the Ozarks.  We then made a quick stop for lunch at Carrabba’s Italian Grill where mom and dad joined up with us.
After lunch, it was back to Bass Pro for some target shooting.  Grandpa challenged the kids to some shooting with the laser rifles, which was a hoot.  Next, we decided to see if we could check-in to our Airbnb.  We had never rented a house through Airbnb, but Dyan suggested we book a house on this trip so that my parents and us could all stay in the same place.  The Kansas City area had some unique rental homes, but we fell in love with pictures of The Fillmore Manor on the grounds of Unity Village.  Neither of us had ever stayed in a house that had an official name!
Tumblr media
From the moment we spotted this beautiful English Cotswold style home nestled among the gentle hills of Unity Village, we knew we had made the right decision. What a gorgeous setting for a beautiful home.
The kids made quick work of staking claims on beds and exploring the winding passages through the house.  Josh and Melanie met up with us that evening and we all went out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, where yes, I got to ride in the birthday saddle while the restaurant sang Happy Birthday to me!  Later that evening, we began assembling a very challenging 500-piece holographic puzzle.
Tumblr media
On Saturday morning, we had breakfast at Unity Village (which was unexpectedly good) before heading back to the house for some more puzzle time.  And we finished!
Tumblr media
We lounged around most of the morning while the kids overloaded on Melanie’s birthday cupcakes and Mom’s World Famous ALL-CRISPIX Chex Mix and Scotch-a-Roo’s. Then we split up.  The boys went to play Call of Duty at Josh’s house, while the girls went to the Trampoline Park.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apparently, the trampoline park was a stitch!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And tuckered everybody out!
Tumblr media
Around 1PM, we all met for lunch at Jack Stack BBQ, which was AHHHH-mazing.
Tumblr media
We then returned home for some Scabble and an unsuspectingly fun game called, Farkle.
Tumblr media
With as much Farkle as we played over the weekend, we’ve decided we need to own this game at home!
Tumblr media
We spent a few hours that evening at the arcade having some drinks while playing laser tag, air hockey and video games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We all had so much fun!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unfortunately, the following morning we all had to say goodbye, and hit the highway for our homes.

The Very Comprehensive Deadpool Masterpost
The aim of this post is to introduce new fans to Deadpool's comics and help you identify which collections, trade paperbacks and omnibus books Deadpool's individual stories, issues and runs can be found in as well as which order to read them.
I will not be providing links to any pirated copies and would rather not recommend websites as prices will vary across the dozens of sites comics can be purchased from.
I have read every single issue on this list so if you have any questions or need any help please do feel free to ask me.
Created: 5th March 2017 Updated: 31st July 2017
Main Deadpool Continuity & Reading Order
This is the bulk of the masterlist. Each of Deadpool's main books and stories are listed below in the order which they should be read from the very beginning all the way up to, and including, his current shenanigans. I have marked a few recommended starting points so if you do not wish to tackle the entire list there should be a starting point which suits you.
Deadpool: The Circle Chase (1993) #1 - #4 This is Deadpool's first ever solo miniseries. It introduces Weasel, Vanessa and themes which crop up throughout the rest of Deadpool's runs. -Collected in; Deadpool Classic Vol. 1 or Deadpool: Beginnings Omnibus or Deadpool The Adamantium Collection or Deadpool & X-Force Omnibus

Deadpool (1997) #-1 - #69 [A Recommended Starting Point] This was Deadpool's first ongoing and it ran from 1997 to 2002. Deadpool returns in the final 3 issues of this series. -Collected in; Deadpool Classic Vol. 9 & Vol. 10 or Deadpool Classic Omnibus Vol. 1
Cable & Deadpool (2004) #1 - #50 [A Recommended Starting Point] Characters from Agent X (2002) make an appearance throughout this series which is written by Deadpool's co-creator Fabian Nicieza. This is a big, thematic book exploring heroism and the bigger picture. -Collected in; Cable & Deadpool: If Looks Could Kill, The Burnt Offering, The Human Race, Bosom Buddies, Living Legends, Paved With Good Intentions, Separation Anxiety & Deadpool vs. The Marvel Universe  or 3 Deadpool & Cable Ultimate Collection books  or the Deadpool & Cable Omnibus
Deadpool Annual (2013) #1 Although this was released in 2013 the first half of the story explains the origin of the white caption box which makes its appearance throughout Deadpool (2008). The second half of the story leads into Deadpool (2012) so it may be worth revisiting this issue before you start that series. -Collected in; Deadpool: The Wedding of Deadpool or Deadpool: The Ones With Deadpool or Deadpool Classic Vol. 18: Deadpool vs. Marvel
Deadpool (2008) #1 - #63 This is the book which was being published when Deadpool exploded into the phenomenon he is today. All 63 issues were written by Daniel Way and you can see the zany fingerprints he left on the character present in the fandom, the video game and all the ongoing books and miniseries from 2009 to 2012. -Collected in; Deadpool: Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, X Marks The Spot, Monkey Business, What Happens In Vegas, I Rule You Suck, Space Oddity, Operation Annihilation, Institutionalized, Evil Deadpool & Dead  or 4 Deadpool: The Complete Collection by Daniel Way books or Deadpool by Daniel Way Omnibus Vol. 1

Thunderbolts (2012) #1 - #32 Daniel Way initially writes this series before Charles Soule and then Ben Acker & Ben Blacker take over. It's Deadpool in a team setting which is less bloody than Uncanny X-Force but not as clean cut as the Avengers. -Collected in; Thunderbolts: No Quarter, Red Scare, Infinity, No Mercy, Punisher vs. The Thunderbolts notes: Can be read alongside Deadpool (2012) although there is very little crossover. The series ends before Deadpool (2012) Original Sin. Hawkeye vs Deadpool (2014) should be read after this series as it references its cancellation. Deadpool (2012) #1 - #45 & Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet #1 - #13  [A Recommended Starting Point] This is the beginning of the Gerry Duggan and Brian Posehn era of Deadpool which is currently ongoing, the two comedians have left an impression on Deadpool and introduced a strong supporting cast which will be felt for years to come. -Collected in; Deadpool: Dead Presidents, Soul Hunter, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, Deadpool vs. S.H.I.E.L.D, Deadpool: Dracula's Gauntlet, The Wedding of Deadpool, Original Sin, Axis & All Good Things  or 4 Deadpool by Duggan & Posehn hardcovers or the Deadpool by Duggan & Posehn Omnibus notes: Deadpool: The Gauntlet was initially released digitally on ComiXology and was built for digital reading Annuals & one-shots are collected in; Deadpool: The Ones With Deadpool Flashback issues are collected in chronological order in; Deadpool: Flashbacks

A stay at the Thayer Learning Center
This testimony was found on the message board belonging to HEAL-online. All rights goes to the author
(Too long of an intro?) Skip down to the time I arrived and read from there.
One summer day I was alerted to headlights coming up the driveway, little did I know what was about to happen.
I looked out the window in my bedroom and saw headlights pulling into the driveway, this is unusual as my family at the time lived in a remote ranch area with only a few neighbors nearby also it was around 4:00 Am in the morning.
I run into the house and alert my parents that there is a vehicle pulling into the driveway (my memory is a little blurry so bear with me) my parents get up quickly and pretend to not know what's going on, I go to the back door to see who was coming up the driveway and my dad rushes to the front door of the house and blocks the entrance, as I make my way to the back room where the back door is located to my surprise, a transporter is waiting outside the door, or blocking it, (unable to remember which) then another transporter comes from the other side blocking me in (he came in the front door) They do this boxing in method just in case the subject (me) decided to try and run.
So we're all in the back room, one of the transporters tells me to put on my shoes, so I comply after asking what was going on I'm very confused at this point, but my body is in no condition to run, I literally looked like one of those Ethiopian children you see in pictures, ribs sticking out, all skin a bones.
Anyway, I am transported to their car and I am told to get in the back seat, passenger side, so I comply.
I remember looking out the door before they shut it and my mother telling me that I am going away for awhile, I think her and I both cried.
The door was shut and my parents and the transporters talk briefly and away we go to the Reno airport to catch a plane. I was mostly quiet for the trip, I do remember asking one question "Where am I going?" I got a brief "Boarding school comment" from one of the transporters, So I thought to myself, well, I guess a little adventure couldn't hurt, since I was withering away anyway. Bear in mind I had had no sleep the night before, and my adrenaline and curiosity was at peak so I was not able to sleep at all during the trip.
We arrive at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and board a plane, so I use the restroom real quick and away we go.
Our plane departs and we land in Las Vegas to switch flights to Kansas City, MO.
We had to wait for a little while for our flight to prepare, so while we were waiting one of the transporters (shortish white guy, brown hair)starts to play some sort of video poker close to where we were sitting, I think the native guy asks me if I would like to have something to eat, a slice of pizza or something and he tells me "this is the last time for awhile that you will have an opportunity to have this kind of food" But I respectfully decline his offer as I was not hungry. (depressed people have trouble eating)
Both guys were fairly nice to me.
The time comes to board our flight, so we start heading for the terminal to board the plane, to be honest I kinda felt like a bad ass because I had two guys who looked like body guards standing around me at all times.
We board the plane and lift off to Kansas City International Airport.
We arrive, get off the plane and walk to the rent-a-car booth, we head to the rental car and start to drive out of the city to the tiny town of Kidder.
As we pull up to the facility, I see the main building and feel sort of relived "this place doesn't look so bad" I say to myself, that is until we rounded the corner to the other side of the building. Fear strikes me in my mind as we pull up to a fenced off area "The Beach" we called it, to see 3 drill Sargents in black/white camo BDU wear and big round DSGT hats on the inside of the fence.
We enter the fenced off area and immediately after entering my intake started.
I was yelled at, screamed at, billed in the face.
They started going over making me learn the 10 general orders of the program.
every time I messed up they would make me run a down and back to the end building and back. I eventually got tired of this and got a wild hair and got a little disobedient, as soon as those words left my mouth I was on the ground with 3 drill Sargents tying me into pretzel, one of them sat on my back I think it was DSGT "H1", while one of the other started to bend my legs up and backwards, DSGT "H2" bending my spine in the opposite direction it is suppose to go. Now bear in mind I am very frail due to the condition my body was in, I was so afraid they were going to break my back and I was in a lot of pain, so I pretended to have a seizure to get them to stop, I rolled my eyes into the back of my head and started jerking my body around as if I were having a seizure.
I think I scared them because they got off me immediately and let me lay there for awhile, deciding what they should do next.
They decided to wrap up my intake and took me into the building, they told me to take off all my clothes, one of the JR. Staff, A cadet that was about to finish the program turned on the shower and I was instructed to get in it, everyone still yelling at me of course, but not interacting with me physically. So after that is over, I am in a state of shock at this point so I don't remember much after that point besides going down to requisitions and getting a bin full of clothes and other items I needed as a Cadet and they placed me in Bravo bay. That day my entire bay was punished because I wasn't able to do a single pushup, due to them tearing a muscle in my elbow, also I had very little muscle mass if any at all.
That night I fell into catatonic state, I'm not sure how long I was in that state, but all I remember was looking up at the camera and the ceiling.
Eventually, I start to get stronger and learn the ropes.
A short while later my legs begin to swell like balloons, I kept putting it on my sick report, but it took about a week, maybe longer to get it looked at by an EMT, during that week I was unable to run or do the exercises properly, the Sargents kept making comments about my legs to each other "no wonder he can't run, his legs are swelled up like balloons" and laughing to each other making jokes and nasty comments, at one point one of the Sargents put his boot on my chest and let his weight down on top of me, looked me in the eyes and smiled evilly, knowing there was nothing I could do about it.
When my family rep finally took me to the hospital the doctors ran tests on my legs to see if I had any blood clots, they wanted to do more tests and keep me over night, but the EMT at the time (I'm not really sure she was even qualified to put a band-aid on an injury) threw a fit over it, so I wasn't able to get checked out further. (Which I should have because my legs were swelled up, they were huge!) They ended up putting me on no lower body P.T and called it good, basically told me to drink water and get over my drama. The Sargent that stepped on my chest, ignored the doctor sticker on my canteen and made me do lower body P.T anyway. That guy was mean.
I wanted to tell the doctors to help me and that they were abusing us, but I was so afraid of what they would have done to me when I got back to camp.
I suppose it has something to do with Stockholm syndrome. I think they actually used Stockholm syndrome and fear as a cover, they has us zombified, terrified and broken.
Eventually, I finally got stronger and was able to do all of the exercises, they became more of an annoyance when the pain tolerance built up and a fit body made the constant nonstop exercise easier. I kind of want to say I just got used to it, but I'm not sure if that would be the right words to use.
I want to go over a list here to tell what I witnessed and experienced at Thayer Learning Center
During my stay, I noticed that they broke 3 cadets wrists. They lied to parents about injuries related to abuse. One particular Sargent there who was the wrist breaker was promoted for his extreme behavior modification techniques including the breaking of bones.
One day in the blistering heat we had to bear crawl everywhere we went, so when we went to the chow hall, and gym,(all separate buildings from male boot camp) the skin on our hands literally melted off on the sidewalk, everyone got bad blisters all over their hands.
Certain Cadets were singled out by Staff and Cadets, and were bullied more often than others. One cadet in particular got restrained at least once or twice a week. That I was witness to.
Lots of Cadets developed a foot fungus due to the latrine floor being covered in bacteria, we also did not have the privilege of having toilet seats on our toilets.
We slept in a basement with bugs and spiders everywhere, the walls leaked, so when it rained the boot camp basement bays Alpha and Bravo became partially flooded and our sleeping bags, clothes would get wet.
At one point during the program I tried to break my ankle so that I could escape the torment, so I ran up the catwalk in the gym when the Sargent wasn't looking and jumped off, I landed on my feet and fell forward, as soon as one of the Sargents realized what I did, he immediately restrained me, pushing my neck into the floor, I was unable to breath and began screaming "Sir! I can't breath" through my crushed vocal cords and windpipe.
All he said was "STOP SAYING CAN'T!!" I thought I was going to die, I quit trying to breath and I was going to try and let myself slip out of consciousness, but at about the point I was passing out he got off of me. A cadet mentioned it later and said the sounds I was making sounded like I was being killed.
I was placed in isolation for a week or so I can't remember, and my neck was messed up for about a year after that, I think he did something to damage my spine, or the tendons in my neck when he restrained me.
When parents would show up, they would call "code white" over the radio, so the Sargent/Staff on duty would be aware that they were being watched, so they had us sit down and read, or do other activities in an attempt to keep the parents from knowing exactly what was going on there, to keep their horror house under wraps.
We were woken up in the middle of the night to exercise outside on the beach, or inside. Those were what we called "moon burns"
We had to sleep on 1/2 Inch thick green mats on top of the concrete floor.
When I finally got to residency, we were allowed one phone call per week with our parents, whenever I tried telling my mother that we were being abused, my family rep would switch off my phone, and take over the phone call (all of our calls were monitored live)
All of our letters were screened and judged according to a cadets psychological profile. whited out, or edited, not sent at all.
Every weekend we were allowed to sit on the concrete floor and watch a movie, we often had to watch the same movie over and over again as a means of psychological tactics. ("Aladdin" was favorite of the staff)
We had to listen to "Bram Stoker's Dracula" and repetitive motivational cassette tapes repeatedly over and over again, as means of psychological tactics.
Cadets who "acted up" were forced to sit in isolation for weeks at a time in a tent with a bright light, listening to the same motivational tapes over and over again, NOTE: they started putting cadets in empty bays instead of the tent for some reason.
If we were outside and a car drove by on the isolated road in front of the main building, we were instructed to face towards the building for who knows what reason.
I witnessed a Sargent punch a cadet in the face.
Whenever a cadet was restrained, the Sargent or JR. Staff would yell out grenade, which then we had to dive on the ground, and bury our face in our elbows and kick our legs as to not be witnesses to the event of the bodily assaults.
One female cadet in particular was made to stay there for years and be subject to the owners abusive drones we called Sargents.
I personally witnessed cadets urinate and a defecate themselves.
cadets who acted up, we were forced to mock them with a made up cadence all together that included their name to bully and shame them into obedience.
A cadet died there due to their neglect and abuse.
How these programs continue to flourish is anyone's guess Which is very concerning.
The only positive thing I have to say about this program is, had I not been sent, I may have died due to severe depression I was not eating and my body was withering away.
Basically, I was broken down completely, but never built back up.
These places are abusive, plain and simple.
Do not send your kids to these places.
I am a survivor and assure you that everything I have mentioned is true and correct and not exaggerated in any way to my knowledge.
You have my permission to post this on your website, I wish to remain Anonymous and am also using a VPN out of fear that the owners will retaliate against me in my adult life should they come across this posting even though the place has since shut down.
A death occured at the boot camp and the bad press coverage forced the owners to close. However, they were never prosecuted for their part in the tragic death

Less Money, Mo’ Problems: A Tribute to Crossing the Pacific, Told Through the Majesty of 90′s Hip-Hop
I'm currently in what I have come to refer to as a "treat yo-self" time. It's a special time during travel when I completely ignore my budget, indulge in a private room, enjoy the food I want instead of the food I should be buying (which at this point is basically street meat), sometimes I even pay for a massage or something equally crazy! This treat yo-self finds me in Chiangmai, Thailand, recovering from a week in Phuket. I am sunburnt, polka dotted with bug bites, covered in cuts and bruises, and, oh yeah - I have the equivalent of about $120 USD to last me the next 3 weeks. To explain how I got here, let me start where it all began - crossing the Pacific. To help me tell the tale I'll be employing some of my favorite 90's hip hop lyrics (you didn't think that habit died on the road, did you?) So pack it up, pack it in, and let me begin.
The story begins with a bit of time travel, as flying from LA to Bali prevented me from ever experiencing February 2nd. Someone should tell me how that day was. I arrived in Denpasar exhausted after over 20 hours in the air, but luckily for me the journey was not over - my luggage was lost!! Fortunately the situation was remedied quickly (I'm still unclear how) and I headed to Kuta, where I managed to keep myself awake until 7:30 pm. Would this be the start of a new life as a morning person? (Spoiler alert: no chance.) Waking up around 4:30 am allowed me to get a slightly early start on the day, and I decided to follow the instructions of the ever reliable world wide web and rent a scooter to tour the area. Of note: I have never, ever operated a motorized, two wheeled vehicle before. In fact, until just this year, I had never even been on one. This didn't seem to phase the rental company, so I sat back, relaxed, and strapped on my helmet. I took off, and immediately dropped it like its hot. Literally. Unfortunately, the next 48 hours or so followed the same trend: I tried to walk off my crash and ended up with a ridiculous sunburn. I took a shuttle ride from hell. Got dropped off at the wrong location and had to walk 1.2 miles with my 70-ish lbs of gear bearing down on my burn. I thought, man... this place is poison!
However, this all changed once I began to explore Ubud, which is where the death shuttle had taken me (3 hours to get 16 miles, you don't need a golden calculator to know something went wrong there.) I know I use this word far to frivolously (working on it!) but Ubud is truly, truly magical. I saw waterfalls, temples, beaches, and countryside, all of which blew my mind. I ate delicious food, saw live music, and made some fantastic friends. I saw traditional Balinese dancing, which was so mesmerizing that I couldn't even take pictures. I met Balinese people, who are the kindest, most generous people I have ever met. While buying a water at a convenience "store" (hut) a woman literally fed me dinner out of her own bowl. With her hands. Was this all a dream?!
The energy in Ubud felt like it was feeding my soul, and the adventures seemed boundless. I was in good company, and did I mention its the cheapest place EVER?!? Most quality meals ran about $4-$5, with a cheap but still delicious option as low as $1.50. I got a 60 minute massage for $8. My private hotel room with a pool and room service breakfast was $15 a night. Ubud had got what I need(ed). So, I made a crazy move and, rather than try and fight the feelings... I stayed. My plane ticket to Australia came and went, and I made the executive decision to head north instead of south. Asia had me hooked, and I couldn't stop staring.
So I called up a friend, and by friend I mean someone I met once for a few hours out at a bar in Arizona. One thing I've learned is that, in the travel community, the slightest connection automatically makes you best friends. So I call my BFF Lisa and said "girl, you know you better watch out, I'm coming to wherever you are." Turns out that wherever was Patong Beach in Phuket, Thailand. I flew in on Valentines Day and I came to get down, but I had NO idea the madness that I was in for. Bangla Rd is, without question, the most wild place I have ever been. Vegas... you can't touch this.
Most of what took place in Patong is unsuitable for an public blog post. I met some really wonderful friends, had a lot of good laughs, and found myself saying "I never thought I would see that/do that/say that out loud" on a semi-regular basis. I also went to some of the craziest bars and clubs I have ever experienced... including the infamous ping pong show. If you don't know what that is, please don't google it. My homeboys tried to warn me ("you have to go once but you'll never go back) and they were quite right. I can't unsee some of the sights of Patong.
I knew that I had to back up off it and sit my cup down or I would likely die, either due to exhaustion or because I had gouged my own eyeballs out. So Lisa and I headed over to Koh Phi Phi, which did not solve any of my problems whatsoever. Wanting to make the most of my time there I pushed it real good (you should have been waiting for that one) and we continued the rump shakin on the islands. We swam in the ocean, which was beautifully teal and the perfect temperature. We ate great food on the beach, did some cheap shopping, and saw an AMAZING fire show! We also, either together or separately: cut ourselves on coral, fell and smashed our knees on a stage, participated in the rescue of a completely random drunk girl (hope you're alive, Sarah!), lost one debit card, had the other debit card compromised, and to top it off, I got onto a ferry and drove away with the key to Lisa's security locker. I guess this is how we do it.
So here I am. I have at least two more days of alone time to catch up on much needed sleep. I have very little cash, but have prepared my family that they will likely have to make a trip to Western Union (ya'll think I'm gonna let my dough freeze?) Tomorrow I will use some of the precious little cash I have to take the treacherous drive to Pai, which hopefully will allow me to participate in some more outdoor activities (and there's a circus school, dreams do come true!) I wouldn't call it a comeback just yet, but I feel like things are going to get easier. Hopefully this post has given you a good idea of what I've been up to, but more importantly, I hope I have sabotaged you with at least one of these hip hop references. You're welcome. Props to anyone who can count how many there are :)

(5–1) and Authentic (8–1). Before making any horse racing predictions, you’ll twinge to see the latest 2020 Kentucky Derby picks from SportsLine’s Jody Demling.
A fixture in the horse racing world who has been writing roughly, talking roughly and betting in financial credit to races for years, Demling enters the 2020 Kentucky Derby as regards a major heater vis — vis his horse racing picks. He has the picked the winner in six straight races: the Saudi Cup, Gotham Stakes, Rebel Stakes, Louisiana Derby, Florida Derby and Belmont Stakes. At the Belmont, the first Triple Crown race of 2020, Demling called Tiz the Law the class of the showground and he pulled away for a convincing victory.
This is the same handicapper who hit the Oaks-Derby double at Churchill Downs nine become pass in the last 11 years. That means he held a ticket subsequent to the winners of both the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby approaching twice in his last 11 tries. Anyone who has followed him is mannerism happening.
A three-year-early son of Uncle Mo, King Guillermo appears safely in the 2020 Kentucky Derby sports ground based going on for his 90 qualifying points and №5 ranking regarding the Road to the Kentucky Derby. King Guillermo’s victory in the Tampa Bay Derby, in which he defeated Sole Volante by 4 3/4 lengths, came in the look of a layoff of more than three months. However, Demling believes King Guillermo’s four-month layoff is “not ideal” and doesn’t make aware including the horse in your 2020 Kentucky Derby bets.
Another shocker: Demling is high on Cezanne, even though he’s a 30–1 long shot in the latest Kentucky Derby odds 2020. He’s a goal for anyone looking for a vast payday. The $3.65 million get your hands on is loaded back potential and has the advantage of swine trained by the legendary Bob Baffert.
Baffert has trained five Kentucky Derby winners, including Triple Crown winners American Pharoah in 2015 and Justify in 2018. Baffert won’t be in the Triple Crown conversation this year after two of his summit contenders, Nadal and Charlatan, both had to slip out of the Belmont due to insult. But Cezanne is one of his 2020 Kentucky Derby contenders to child support an eye re after he won what Demling called a “dazzling” race in his maiden at Santa Anita regarding speaking June 6, appropriately confidently gain him in your 2020 Kentucky Derby bets.
The road to the 2020 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve has, due to a global public health crisis, stretched out through the summer and widened considerably. With the Derby rescheduled to Sept. 5 at Churchill Downs, the pool of potential contenders to create the 20-horse starting log on now welcomes late-developing types to colleague the horses that have already won major preps and earned qualifying points.
The bookmakers at William Hill continue to designate on conclusive-odds complex wagers on the subject of the subject of Kentucky Derby 146 and, as in years p.s. in this blog, well agreement a periodic see at William Hills higher-photo album odds and profile some of the contenders.
The substantially revised Road to the Kentucky prep season is coming into focus after a historic begin to the Triple Crown in the 152ndBelmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets more or less June 20. Tiz the Law solidified his status as the leading Kentucky Derby contender by winning the first (yet anomalous to type that) leg of the Triple Crown in dominant fashion.
Several qualifying preps for the Kentucky Derby are concerning tap for July, starting on the order of Independence Day taking into account the Los Alamitos Derby, followed hurriedly by the Indiana Derby as regards July 8 and later the points-proficiently-to-reach Toyota Blue Grass Stakes just roughly July 11, which is share of choice unprecedented racing matter in 2020: Keenelands summer meet.
In supplement to the Vegas futures, Churchill Downs conducted substitute Derby Future Wager pool from June 26–28. Tiz the Law led all individual horses not speaking of 2–1 after that the pool closed, taking into account Honor A. P. second at 6–1. The mutuel arena ranked third estranged of 8–1. Churchill Downs will have the funds for two more Kentucky Derby in the estrange away-off ahead pools, from July 17–19 and from Aug. 7–9.
Several weeks ago, Kentucky Derby watchers were poring more than the credentials of Bob Baffert-trained buzz horse Cezanne after he won by an impressive 2 lengths in his debut occurring for speaking June 6 at Santa Anita Park. Now, yet choice Baffert warfare has emerged to put occurring to reload the two-time Triple Crown-winning trainers arsenal for the Kentucky Derby. Uncle Chuck made his first begin upon June 12 going a two-slant mile at Santa Anita and overpowering four opponents, taking command yet to be in the first incline and drawing flattering of the auditorium in the second slope en route to a seven-length malingerer.
The son of champion Uncle Mo is owned by Karl Watson, Mike Pegram, and Paul Weitman, who have had much realization taking into consideration Baffert in years then, McKinzie mammal a notable recent example. Uncle Chuck is out of the Unbridleds Song mare Forest Music, who won two graded stakes during her racing days and with placed in two Grade 1 stakes. She did her best giving out at sprint distances, but shes with produced two graded stakes-winning foals one of which, Electric Forest, took last years Hilliard Lyons-Baird Doubledogdare Stakes at Keeneland going 1 1/16 miles. Forest Music furthermore produced Macleans Music, who lonesome raced following (earning a 114 Beyer Speed Figure) but has made some noise as a stallion, siring 2017 Preakness Stakes winner Cloud Computing.
Uncle Chuck is nominated to Saturdays Los Alamitos Derby which offers 20 Kentucky Derby points to the winner along furthermore three into the future payment Baffert-trained 3-year-olds. None of them are Cezanne; that colt will create his second begin in a two-tilt, one-mile portion optional claiming race at Los Al upon Thursday, July 2. Uncle Chuck is offered at 15–1 odds upon William Hills June 28 sheet, and Cezanne sits at 22–1 odds.
Will they be going on to respected replacements for Nadal and Charlatan? I have my doubts but to paraphrase D. Wayne Lukas, this pair will meet the expense of some facts totally soon. (UPDATE: Cezanne won the maintenance race upon July 2 by 1 lengths and earned a 106 Equibase Speed Figure. Bob Baffert said subsequent to that Cezanne would neighboring race in a stakes, but had not yet unchangeable which one to viewpoint in the coming weeks. As for Uncle Chuck, he posted his second win in as may starts in the July 4 Los Alamitos Derby, outfinishing stablemate and compound graded stakes winner Thousand Words despite nevertheless showing inexperience in the stretch and not changing leads.
This Bernardini colt made his first three starts last decrease upon turf, winning at Kentucky Downs and giving out seventh in a Grade 3 at Keeneland for trainer Joe Sharp, but was later switched to dirt at the subside of 2019. He made two starts to unventilated out the year, and took the second of those a six-furlong race by an eye-catching 7 lengths, unaided to be highly developed disqualified due to a drug forgive.
Resurfacing this year and staying upon dirt for trainer Tom Drury Jr., Art Collector shone during Churchill Downs truncated spring-summer meet, winning a seven-furlong maintenance optional claiming race by 2 lengths and moreover a 1 1/16-mile part optional claimer (his first two-slant dirt race) by 6 lengths. Art Collectors dam, the Distorted Humor mare Distorted Legacy, won a stakes race upon dirt at 1 1/16 miles and over and finished in the middle of second to peak-class turf mare Stacelita upon grass in the Grade 1 Flower Bowl Invitational Stakes at 1 miles. There are several stakes-winning route horses deeper in this colts female bloodline, which may have an involve upon his current 30–1 odds upon William Hills sheet. Look for this intriguing runner to create his taking into account begin in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland a week from Saturday.
The Japanese Road to the Kentucky Derby series gained some high regard last year as well as than Master Fencer shipped stateside and ran a respectable sixth in the Kentucky Derby and fifth in the Belmont Stakes. Cafe Pharoah is the leader accompanied by this years society of Japan-based contenders, having won each and every one one three of this starts including two Kentucky Derby qualifying races by perspective lengths and quantity 70 points. In his most recent begin, the June 21 Unicorn Stakes at Tokyo Racecourse (view out cold), he ran bearing in mind an even-money favorite in a 16-horse arena should, breaking from the far outdoor and patiently down occurring to sit just bearing in mind the leader through the far slant, and moreover drawing off in in encourage stretch upon his codicils cue to win the in the region of one-mile race by five lengths.
This Kentucky-bred is a son of 2015 Triple Crown and Breeders Cup Classic winner American Pharoah, and he has some oomph in his dams (mothers) pedigree, too. Hes out of the More Than Ready mare Marys Follies, who won two graded stakes upon turf going two turns. Shes produced two graded stakes winners in the U.S. to date, including current East Coast-based runner Regal Glory, who captured two turf graded stakes races last year at a mile or longer and was recently fourth in last weeks Grade 1 Just a Game Stakes.
As of this writing, Cafe Pharoah is not stated to begin in the July 8 Japan Dirt Derby, the realize points race in the Japanese series. Hes sitting at 35–1 odds upon William Hills sheet, but interestingly closed at 14–1 odds in Churchill Downs recently completed Future Wager pool.

It's Chiefs' Andy Reid vs. Colts and ghosts of playoffs past
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The last time the Kansas City Chiefs slayed a boogeyman from seasons’ past, the head coach most responsible for it — the man paid $7.5 million a year to make the moment happen — walked off the field with a smile on his face and his arm around his wife.
It was the evening of Jan. 9, 2016, and Andy Reid — the man who was discarded by the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of the 2012 season — had delivered Kansas City its first playoff win in 22 years, courtesy of a 30-0 rout of the Houston Texans. Wedged in between were two decades of misery and disappointment for Chiefs fans.
Chiefs fans had grown accustomed to expecting the worst in the playoffs. For that reason, the win over the Texans was big. And get this: Reid, who rarely admits to looking backward, did just that on Monday.
“Obviously, you love to win — there hadn’t been a playoff win in a long time here,” Reid explained, when asked by Yahoo Sports. “You come in and you find out all these things that might have happened in the past. I don’t get caught up too much in that, but I think it was a good thing for the fans, a good thing for the organization because everyone works so stinking hard here. It starts with your [team] owner and CEO in Clark [Hunt].”

More
To that end, it’s obvious the Chiefs’ 60-year-old coach has been around long enough to know when games really matter, which is why — when asked about the Chiefs’ divisional-round home showdown on Saturday afternoon against the Indianapolis Colts — Reid essentially said he understood the stakes, albeit in the least-dramatic way possible.
“I know how passionate the fans are, I know how passionate our players, coaches and the building is — I know it’s important to a lot of folks,” Reid said.
Just as he pleased Hunt in 2016 with the Texans win, right before him stands an opportunity to topple another boogeyman. But anyone monitoring Twitter on Saturday afternoon could see why Chiefs fans might be wary. That’s when the surging Colts, winners of 10 of their past 11 games, finished their 21-7 dismantling of the AFC South champion Texans, solidifying a showdown at Arrowhead Stadium for the right to play in the AFC championship game.
And while the Chiefs (12-4) are the conference’s top seed and a 6-point Vegas favorite, the one-sidedness of their playoff history in this round — especially against the Colts — is sadistic. The Chiefs are 0-4 vs. the Colts in the playoffs since 1996, with three of those losses being all-time gut-punch defeats:
In 1996, Chiefs kicker Lin Elliott missed three field goals in a 10-7 loss, including one with 42 seconds left that wasn’t even close. The defeat ended a 13-3 season.
In 2004, the all-offense, no-defense Chiefs lost to Peyton Manning in the “No Punt Game.”
And in 2014, the first postseason of Reid’s K.C. tenure, the Chiefs blew a 38-10 third-quarter lead in a wild-card road loss that still hasn’t been named because … well, it hurts Kansas City natives too darned much.
Two of these defeats (1996, 2004) came at home in the divisional round.
So yeah, whatever consternation Chiefs fans feel right now, they got it honestly. It also does not help that the Colts seem uniquely positioned to take advantage of the Chiefs’ subpar defense this season. Indianapolis boasts a strong, varied run game that could gain chunk yards anytime it wants on Kansas City’s 31st-ranked run defense, in addition to a well-coached offensive line that has yielded the fewest sacks in football. The latter could negate K.C.’s pass rush, the only tangible strength of the Chiefs’ defense.
Yet, if the defense causes the Chiefs to lose Saturday, it will almost be expected. After all, the Chiefs’ two losses in December will have portended it … just like in past years. In losses to the Seahawks and the Chargers a few weeks ago, the Chiefs’ offense racked up a combined 713 yards and 59 points, only to see their defense surrender a combined 871 yards and 67 points.
It’s this reality, this bad juju, that led to questions on whether the Chiefs’ history matters. And while Reid acknowledged the importance of the win against the Texans a few years ago, he also fended off more inquiries about the past, albeit with a sly grin and acquiescing nod.
Story continues
“No, you move on,” Reid explained. “Those are history. You don’t go back on that. You’re always moving forward in this thing, and that’s what we’re doing.”
What’s the best message he can give players to let them know this year will be different?
“I don’t think you need to say anything,” Reid said. “I think when you play a season, it’s important that you don’t worry about that. You worry about the process you’re going through to go against a good football team.”
Perhaps it’s best that Reid focus on the game itself, and not the other stuff. Because if the Chiefs lose this game — especially if it’s because of the defense or his own game management, which many regard as Reid’s personal playoff boogeyman — he’ll face criticism for wasting the AFC’s top seed and home-field advantage. But not nearly enough to make a dent in his job security.
A loss would drop Reid’s postseason record to 1-5 with the Chiefs, but the masterful job he has done with 23-year-old quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has thrown 50 touchdown this season, should ensure he gets as many attempts as he wants to break through Kansas City’s postseason demons. Reid is one of the league’s most respected and creative play-callers, and an offense led by he and Mahomes will always be a candidate to lead the league in points. Even if the Chiefs fall short of the Super Bowl this season, most reasonable Chiefs fans will appreciate the importance of that in today’s pass-heavy NFL.
Still, if the Chiefs lose and their defense is at fault, there will be angry tweets and calls to radio stations, many of them understandably focusing on Reid’s decision to retain defensive coordinator Bob Sutton, a lightning rod even after last season. And even if they lose and it isn’t the defense’s fault, it still might be difficult to retain Sutton without upsetting a vast portion of the fan base due to the unit’s struggles over the course of the season.
No matter what happens with the coordinator this offseason, fans should also expect the defense to undergo upgrades via free agency and the draft. The Chiefs will have money to spend — over $40 million — and with four top-100 picks, more than enough ammo to move up and grab an impactful defender in what’s expected to be a strong defensive draft.
In the meantime, the Chiefs have a prime opportunity to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1969 season. All they need to do is win two more home games, armed with the likely league MVP at the most important position on the field, one whose impressive arm strength and creativity should allow him to make the downfield throws necessary to pierce the Colts’ zone-heavy, Tampa 2 defense. This game has all the makings of a shootout, one that a cynic would point out has some shades of the “No Punt” loss to Indy in 2004.
The Chiefs and their head coach are aware of the past, but they’re not going to let any worry about it distract from their future. All Reid wants to do is win another playoff game for himself, his players and a team owner who would love to end a five-game divisional round losing streak, the latest boogeyman staring down a tortured fan base.
“Our guys are busting their tails to get ready to play a good football team and to do the best we possibly can,” Reid said. “I know our fans are going to be there doing the same thing, so they’re going to be fired up and ready to go. That, to me, is a beautiful thing. You prepare, prepare, prepare, and then you put your best out there and go play. We look forward to that challenge.”
