always giggle at the inherent goofiness of this dessa song called velodrome. which a) admittedly very cool word b) maybe also not commonly known? but. track cycling ... track. ok. she's always a little cheeky with her lyrics but this one is a lot. (and apparently there's a video?? with a velodrome! hah)

it's got good lyrics! but when there's these parts i'm just snickering to myself

Repost from • @chrishallrides One heck of a special project. @sammywks and I were rattling our brains for a long time working out what exactly to do with this @cervelo T1. We had several ideas and just couldn’t quite get it to work. Then, Sammy (who runs @guncontrolpaint) had this idea. Spatters like riding through a golden puddle and combining several technical painting techniques with the marbling and the fades too. Also nothing says custom more than a matching stem right? stevenbattelle: One of the best things for me about being in a touring band, aside from the music and the shows is the like minded friends you make along the way and these guys are some of the longtermist (is that word??) & dearest to me. Epic hang / Epic show / Epic Fanta water chaser. Swipe for “a trilogy of guitarists” (official term) and just imagine the tone combination, I can hear it and it’s outrageous and possibly too dangerous to ever allow.

I raced two races at the O-Cup last weekend. The O-Cups are rather more formal than the Saturday night races I’ve been doing so far, with commissaires, bike checks and just a bit more pomp. I entered the scratch (20 laps) and points (40 laps). It felt like a bit of a novelty but we also had women only fields! Racing in a mixed field doesn’t bother me but I was glad we had the registration numbers to get our own categories. I’m really hoping that over the next year we can get more women into racing at the track.

On paper my results don’t look like much but I was really pleased with how I did. In the scratch race I FOUGHT to stay with the bunch and even though I was nowhere in the mix for the final sprint, just being in the same straight away was a win. The points race was tough! I managed to get back in the bunch after the first and second sprint but when one of the young women went off the front with 16 laps to go, I had nothing left to go with the acceleration. I landed up down a lap but got back in the bunch before the final sprint.

We have another Saturday night race tonight and then the next event is Nationals! I had to get a UCI license for that - that feels vaguely ludicrous. I’m planning to enter the scratch race and the Individual Pursuit.
