This morning there was a bit of a set back in municipality politics when three of the rural communities in the Vestfjords decided they were going to "gang up" on us "city slickers"

There is now a nation wide municipality sled racing league.

Reykjavík owns mountains, the other Metropolitan area municipalities will have to make do with their town slopes.

The it’s time for the food tour!

Aka time for someone who’s Not me to have to worry about garlic!

In all serious though- the tour is very accommodating as are most restaurants here. Almost ever place I eat has a sign asking about food allergies. And the tour is very nice about substitutions.

Stop one is some small bites of:

Lightly cookies arctic char

Slow cooked lamb shoulder

The lamb in Iceland does sadly tend to have garlic. So i get two of the char instead.

- Lightly cured artic char on a chickpie bread

- Lamb on a flatbread from Vestfjords, served with carrot purre.

Stop two:

Fried pan arctic char with a honey glaze

Panboiled mashed potato’s

This is my favorite from the tour!

The rye bread is also really good- surprisingly sweet!

- Arctic char baked in honey, butter and lemon with cherry tomatoes and almonds

- Plokkfiskur: boiled cod mashed with potatoes, onion, garlic, celery, lime, white wine, cream and butter

- Icelandic rye bread with butter
