As a result of our first meeting, many different ideas came through and were noted. Some people expressed their interest in geometric shapes (such as fractal 3D images), some in nature, others in spirit and emotions, and eventually some talked about portraying something ancient, from a different century. Since all the other topics seemed general, we went with the more "specific" one about historical times. Moreover, we tried combining the idea of moving "upwards", as we said before.

The first ancient period that came to mind, to me at least, was the gardens of Babylon. I am not too sure why, but I always found them so fascinating. Moreover, it could definitely be something different than typically portrayed historical periods such as the Romans, the Greeks, or the Egyptians. Even though the initial idea was to create an actual Babylonian building and position the camera inside of it, together with an elevator kind of structure, I started moving towards a more external POV. Looking at references on Pinterest, it feels like we could play much more with exterior elements rather than eliminating ourselves to a bunch of dark rooms from the inside. Of course, the room option is the safest and probably the one that would also take less time to create, but either way, it would be really hard to try and recreate the spirit of Babylon from an inside structure.

What people usually recognize from this very unknown historical period, are the big architectural structures with lots of nature hanging everywhere and statues maybe. Therefore, recreating a space inspired by it only on an inside structure, could not be perceived as such from the audience, in my opinion.

The initial idea was to move in different environments as the elevator went up. For example, we liked the idea of starting underwater, moving inside of the main space, and then maybe finish in the sky. I imagined the elevator crushing the ceiling or whatever kind of structure we are going to put right on top of the viewer for the final scene. However, I realize we need to be careful with both sound effects and harsh movements since we don't know how sensitive the public might be.

For the actual elevator structure, I immediately imagined something like the one present in the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, (Figure 1).

However, talking with the professors we settled on the idea that this might take too much work and won't let us "cheat" on the backgrounds. , if everything is visible from the elevator, that means that we need to take care of every single detail present in the landscape.

As of right now, I think my group has a better and clearer idea of what we are going to do. The project looks like a lot of work and maybe we are a bit too pretentious in thinking that we are actually going to finish everything that we are planning on making. Hoping and dreaming is always the way to go but also being realistic, especially in a situation where we have to rely on each other schedules and on an actual deadline, can be really important as well. However, I believe that talking through every little detail and discussing every few days will definitely help us understand the amount of work that we can actually finalize. Nonetheless, I feel energized and cannot wait to see what the others have to show to the group!

田中　これも個人的な考えですので、本作で語っている主題とは異なってしまいますが……。さほど特別なものではなく、良くも悪くも感情や主観、あるいは動物的本能ありきで、後付けで理屈を乗せたようなものが人間性の実態ではないかと思ってます。つまり「本来、人間性は聖なるものではない」という立ち位置です。作中でも語っていますが、遺伝的本能を尊いものとして無自覚に描くことは苦手を通り越して間違いだとすら感じます。この方法で悲劇を描いても薄っぺらい感動しか��まれないでしょう。だから人間賛歌を描かねばならない時は、考えに考え抜いて「この感情なら肯定できる」ところまで持っていくことで、プレイ後のユーザーに衝撃を与えることができる……と、そう考えます。
