Why do people keep saying bg3's character creation is expansive. It's the most limited shit. It's more limited than Mass Effect - a game that came out 16 years ago. At least in the ME games you can adjust your facial features.
I dont give a shit what Larian's reasoning is; they should have given us facial sliders instead of ugly ass presets.

Happy New Year!
I just wanted to ask because I got curious - but do you think WoD will ever come out with an official backstory for Beckett? Or any new content involving him? I'm keeping my fingers crossed but honestly who knows. Also now that it's the new year, we're a few steps closer to Bloodlines 2 releasing. What are you current thoughts on it?
Hello and thank you for your patience while I traveled far from my beloved tumblr!
Will Paradox's World of Darkness come out with new Beckett lore? Why, yes! They already have: in the Fifth Edition Corebook he's confirmed to be alive (x) and Custos talks about Beckett Embracing him and his subsequent abandonment (x) and he's in LA By Night (x). Plus, he's been in Vampire: the Masquerade - Heritage (x and that's where his current wiki photo is from) and referenced in the Tender ARG (general x specifically x). In my opinion, Beckett morsels have been dangled at a steady clip.
Do I want World of Darkness to publish like, an official backstory? God, no. The last time it was attempted, the result was a clusterfuck. Reading "A Brief History of Beckett" in his Diary was terrible. Either the author didn't care to research him, or wasn't given time to, beyond the most cursory glance. More to the point, that chapter lacks of a cohesive vision on how to play it. I'm much happier reading and applauding backstories that fans come up with.
As for Bloodlines 2, I don't keep up with World of Darkness News so much, so your ask was a great invitation to catch up. The most recent Dev Diary (x) is a fascinating peek at their sound design and the care they're putting into it. The last paragraph mentions a release date and DLC plans to be announced as soon as January 15th.
As for my broader opinion on the game, VtM:B2 will be what is, when it is. I'm sure I'll be delighted to dissect it. Though the studio has never made an RPG before, doing new genres and knocking it out of the park seems to be their thing (see Little Orpheus x and Still Wakes the Deep x).
I'm more concerned if The Chinese Room is taking care of its workers in the collapsing larger industry. Are the workers being treated well? Are they paid enough? Are they being laid off to line the pockets of shareholders and CEOs? Thankfully, The Chinese Room seems to be doing good by their people. In 2017, before Paradox gifted them the VtM:B name/they pitched their project, The Chinese Room did lay off everyone except the two founders and one lead designer (x). Seems like they ran out of money. When TCR was bought by Sumo, they seemed to have solved a longstanding we-don't-know-how-to-run-a-business problem (x). Founder Jessica Curry has gone on record calling for more diversity, inclusion, and women in the industry (x) and took a backseat due to toxic publisher relationships (x) rather than studio culture. Her husband and co-founder Dan Pinchbeck designed a paid internship program with the express purpose of hiring racial and gender minorities, women, older people, and those from lower-income backgrounds (x). I hope they keep up and improve upon this track record even though Pinchbeck left (x).
Overall, I'm content enough to buy a game from these folks. There's always room for improvement (like a union), but they're leagues ahead of other studios in terms of worker treatment.
Thank you for the ask! Kind of you. I hope you're having a good start to 2025!

In VtM: Bloodlines, if you kill Chunk, the stereotypical balding, overweight, self-important security guard, he is replaced later on by Chunk's brother, who is literally just Chunk in sunglasses.
What I'm saying is when VtM:B2 comes out, I want it to include Chunk's daughter, who is literally just Chunk with a bow.
generally consider taking any common Man Character Trope and turning her into a woman. but like don't change much else to make her "womanly". keep her fat / keep her buff / keep her fucked up / keep her in a suit etc etc. and this is how u win forever

Bloodlines 2: Should social power be consolidated or distributed? What are the consequences of amoral technological progress? Are capitalism and creativity compatible? Oh! where are my manners, what pronouns do you use?

Lets talk Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2
let me start by saying, I’ve had to change how I was gonna go around talking about this, cause my first reaction was anger and outrage, but to copy that again in more detail, would fail to add an substance to what I want to say. So I’ve revised how and what I’m gonna talk about, and try and remain more calm.
This is a post in response to people freaking out on VtM:B2 and how it’s a SJW game and other things. Now i’m not gonna go and intentionally talk about if it is or not, I’ll simply be going over some of the things that are being complained about.
1. Mental Illness. so let me lay the ground work done for this. In VtM and WoD (world of darkness) there exists a clan of vampires, that have sacrificed/gifted their minds to their vampire god/first vampire Caine. With that being said, this clan of vampires have always been a poor parody of mental illnesses. So the game devs of course wanted to address this, and some have complained about this for fear of losing their “Quirky” clan of vampires quirkiness. It should be noted that this specific vampire clan can range from being a poor a offensive mental stereotype, to a perfect example of mental health issues, and the game devs seem to want to simply want to eliminate the poor parody part of them, whilst keeping the important bits of the specific vampire clan. As the game has only just been announced five days ago, we do not know the full extent, or the actual changes that will be in place upon the games actual release in 2020.
2. It’s a Political Game. Let me be quick and blunt on this one (and let me not actually get that in depth about this subject). (The tabletop RPG that the video game is based upon, has a strong political message through out its settings and has current day politics featured in part in the setting.) It’s a Game with politics. we know that in the game you choose a faction in the world, and you must deal with the politics of each faction and so on and so forth, that makes it a political game. It will also have a political message. now let me make something very clear, Every. Game. Has. A. Political. Message. Some games focus heavly on a political message, Some games have very little focus on a political message. Some games are subtle and light handed with their political message. Some games are heavy handed with their political message. Some games have one political message. Some Games have many political messages. Some games pull off having a political message. Some games dont pull off having a political message. All games have these in some form or order of political message in them, if you dont think a game has a political message in it, either you didn’t pay any attention to the story of the game, the political message is hard to find, the game wasn’t designed with story in mind. or the game has a shit story. But almost every game has some sort of political message, games have been an outlet for a political message, since in depth story telling was introduced to gaming, I will give, not all games have political messages, but most games do, and almost, with out fail, every main stream and popular game with a story, has a political message of some sort. But as the game has only been announced five days ago, and will not be released till 2020, we do not know as of now, how they will handle any of their political messages, or the political game play.
3.Gender. It’s set in the 21st century and specifically in Seattle, stop complaining about being able to choose your pro-nouns in the game. We as a people live in a society that is ever changing and adapting. If you don’t like that the game is more diverse for its players, that is on you as a person and not the game. But let me talk about the game. It’s a character creation option, key word option, means its an option you can choose, no different then any other character creation option. No ones forcing you to choose the option, you’re still allowed to create you’re character the way you want it. I honestly don’t understand why people are upset by Character Creation having even more options, usually everyone is complaining about when character creation doesn’t have enough option. It’s coming out in 2020, and it was announced five days ago, try and find something from character creation to actually complain about.
4.Masculine Power Fantasy. I want to talk about this bit the least. Unfortunately if I don’t, the people being assholes win, and I, for one, personally am too stubborn to let anyone win, i’m just that petty. On topic now. They don’t want a Masculine Power Fantasy, or at least not as much. To clarify what the devs and journalists have said. They want to make a game that’s more appealing to other people. They want to make a game that’s more appealing for a wider audience. A game that appeals to people. A game, that they want people to play, that is made in mind for everyone to enjoy playing. The company making the game want to make a game that is intended to get everyone to play and enjoy. I want to make sure everyone reading this understand that the people making the game, are making a game to appeal to everyone, this is to serve many purposes, such has, making an appropriate and realistic game (with vampires and werewolves and what not), that many people will buy, and spend money on, that will create many customers and help introduce people into the setting, and maybe even into the tabletop RPG of World of Darkness. the game was announced five days ago and wont be released until 2020, we can not really judge how this will effect the game and story until we have more information.
Conclusion: The game devs are trying to make the mental illnesses more appropriate and realistic and less, you know mocking and parody like or mental illnesses and real people with mental illnesses. The game, like most games, and the setting its based off of, will have political messages, and like its source material, will have political based game play. We will not know how this truly effects the game until it comes out in 2020, or more information comes out after the first week of its announcement
The game will have a character creation that includes pro-nouns in character creation, with will be an option, and help enthrall new players, or support existing/new players. The Game will not be a masculine power fantasy but a power fantasy that reaches out towards more players, and may help create a more diverse fandom. If you have a problem with these last two things, you are a gate keeper, and can honestly fuck off, for trying to keep this game from other people, especially if its a game meant to be for a wide demographic. We will not really know how this will effect the game untill early 2020 when the game comes out, or after the first week of the games announcement.
All in all, try to not be an asshole, shut up, and wait for more to come out about the game. If you have a problem with the game still, I have heartbreaking news for you, this isn’t a fuckin game for you, and you can kindly fuck off if you can’t allow other people enjoy this game, because you have a problem with it.

Not fallout related jsyk, but this pride month in videogames we got
Tlou2 deadnaming a trans man constantly
Vtm:b2 devs saying they wont have trans men or women unless its a dlc (and im betting on nonbinary characters who are monsters that reject gender based on hubris)
