finally finished s2 of the alienist... uhmm why was this season abt everyone BUT the alienist. hello. daniel brühl turn on your location i just want to talk
i get that it’s fucking hilarious that he’s horrifically sunburned after 300-400 years of vampirism. but do you understand that he’s so utterly connected to and defined by science and humanity and now he’s managed to put both vampirism and science together in a way that allows him to experience humanity again. even just for a bit. do you understand how not normal i am over this. he’s the most human of the vampires and it’s finally paying off for him.
what is with the like - fear of criticizing tv shows all of a sudden. if you're a loyal fan of a tv show and you put time effort and money into engaging w media? you get to have Opinions about it. on the internet, even! where others can see!
no listen everyone talking about this is right. all guillermo has to do is renounce nandor as his master and be derek’s familiar for like two days to tell the vampires what happened. he’s turned to other masters before !! there was literally that whole plot in season three where he left and went to live with celeste and nandor went into a whole midlife crisis because of it
if Nandor knew that the only way to reverse the transformation was to kill the vampire that sired Guillermo...
he was going to travel the world...with his best friend...go back to his home...turn Guillermo at the banks of the Tigris
in s3 finale, after Guillermo had cornered Nandor, proving he can have violent intent towards him, Nandor says, "yes, yes. this is what I've been waiting for. you've passed the test"
but he wasn't talking about being a vampire...
he was talking about what he would have to do after...
Just finished S5 and if anyone has any doubt that Nandor loves Guillermo I swear to GOD I'll run in your WALLS like a bike in a DEATH GLOBE
The way he was so angry and in 15 seconds after realizing he can simple FORGIVE Guillermo and be back to the old days he jumped on the chance and immediately did it. I want to chew glass. This fucking season.
I love Laszlo so much, he's THE CHARACTER, I want more of Guide and Nadja, I need more of them together, this season was so delicious to watch, so much crazy shit happening, so much NONSENSE, I needed that, I was so stressed, you have no idea how good it was to me just see them and laugh at the absurdity of this show lol
I need more of this weird slow burn that the production has been cooking for 5 SEASONS, I need them to confess or be together or kiss on the lips or have crazy ass gay sex IDK WHAT WAIT FOR ME I just know it will be exciting and INSANE
And the shapes that you drew may change beneath a different light, and everything you thought you knew will fall apart, but you’ll be all right | Nandor the Relentless + Constellations by The Oh Hellos
the thesis of this video can be boiled down to this: Nandor is, fundamentally, a man who is struggling to cope with the realisation that while he has stayed the same for years, the world around him has been changing without his say so. he clings to what he's always known - for example his image as a relentless warrior - and the boxes he's put people in, without realising that these things don't quite fit him anymore. and when he does start to make an active effort to make a change, despite having every good intention, things rarely work out for him because, often, what he's seeking out in new places, he actually already has. all he needs to do is look around himself and see things in a new light to realise it.
(this vid only uses footage from the first 3 seasons btw, you don’t need to be caught up with the latest eps to watch it)
so who wants to bet that like guillermo sean has also become immune to hypnotism and just doesn’t tell anyone cause he just loves vibing with his vampire bffs
Ok so, this is a slightly batshit theory and I’m gonna be honest, I’m not sure how much it’ll hold up and I don’t really know if I wanna be right. Just wanted to throw out some thoughts, let’s hope Apollo’s aim is off today.
So in the finale, Laszlo was about to tell Guillermo something that he’s never told anyone. And that was never followed up on. And I was talking about it to some people in discord and I was like “haha wanna bet that like, I dunno, Nadja didn’t actually turn him. That would be crazy right”
But then I thought about it a little harder and… pieces started to connect.
I mean, right off the bat, Laszlo was incredibly sympathetic to Guillermo’s situation. Like, he did not hesitate to help him. In fact, his very first impulse was to convince Nandor that he was the one who turned Guillermo.
So I’m thinking… what if it’s because he’s been in Guillermo’s shoes? I’m not sure how it would work given Nadja and Laszlo’s backstory, since as far as we know, Laszlo was never a familiar. It’s possible that there was another vampire involved in Laszlo’s life while he was a human who he was a familiar, before Nadja turned him and he suddenly had to scramble to cover it up. But I definitely think there’s a reason why Laszlo was so willing to help Guillermo, and it would make sense to reveal that motivation in the motel, but unfortunately Laszlo is Laszlo and he immediately got distracted by porn which like… yeah that tracks.
