So I took this to Walker Stalker to complete because I am absolutely in love with this shot, and I need it on my wall immediately. I also really wanted to tell them how much I loved that scene, and figured this would remind me to tell them and not stand there and be a blubbering idiot. The split second Norman glanced down he said “Let me tell you how much I love her!” He started talking how emotional shooting the scene was for both of them (“I started crying!” which is when I said I cried watching it and he said ‘Hell yeah!’), and how it was just great to be working with her because she’s just “fucking amazing”. When I saw Melissa on Sunday, she started to grin when she saw the picture and I said “Listen, when Norman saw this his first words were literally ‘Let me tell you how much I love her!’ and she said “Really? He loves me?” with a little smirk and then she looked at me and said “I want to write that, can I write that??”. I immediately say Yes…PLEASE write that! As she writes, she says she loves this picture and this scene, one of her favorites to film with him. When she handed me the photo back she grinned and said ‘I love him too!’ I love these two.

I don’t normally like to publicly detail my experiences, because I’m just a private person. But this is Jon Bernthal we’re talking about, and I’m still super excited I was able to meet him in Nashville!
So, ever since I drew my Punisher portrait last summer, I’d wanted to get it signed. Naturally, I was so excited when Walker Stalker announced Jon was attending their Nashville convention - just two hours away from me! But nervous, too, because I’ve never met a current favorite celeb of mine before. I’d read about so many fan encounters with him, so I knew it would be a fun experience … and it definitely was!
Tumblr media
He kinda threw me off guard initially, because I walk up to his table and he says, “Hey, I’m Jon.” I’m thinking, yeah? So I tell him my name and put my drawing on the table and tell him I’d like him to sign the drawing. He mentions how cool it is and asks who made it. When I tell him me, he says, “You drew this?!” Then he starts mentioning all the detail in it and that I must be really talented. I don’t always think that highly of my art - there’s so much more amazing, creative fan art out there - so I say, “Well, maybe.” And he replies, “No, you are” and then says how he wants one. And I had brought a framed print with me to give him, but I was starting to chicken out about actually giving him something. So I tell him that I have a print with me, if he really wants it. And he’s like, “Really? You have one? Yeah I want it.” So I gave him the print. He mentioned giving it to his son, because he’d love it.
Tumblr media
And then he goes to start signing my drawing and asks me if I want it written to me and of course I did! So I just expect him to write to me, then sign his name and that’s it. But he keeps writing. And I had really hoped he’d draw that cute little Punisher skull that he draws on some things and was afraid I’d have to ask him to, but he drew it anyway. Jon Bernthal DREW on my drawing. Ha! I thanked him for drawing the skull and he says, “Well I can’t draw like you.” But I told him I loved it and I thought it was cute.
Tumblr media
So then I get my picture with him and afterward he gives me a hug and says, “Thank you, sweetheart.” :-)
Tumblr media
What a great experience it was! I always love reading about fellow fans’ experiences meeting him, and I feel so fortunate that I’ve finally been able to meet him too.
Walker Stalker Nashville overall was a blast! It was my first large convention experience, and also my first WSC. I didn’t get any photo ops; I preferred having pictures taken at the tables so I could talk a few minutes with each person. In addition to Jon, I met Scott Wilson, Cooper Andrews and Lennie James. They were all so friendly. Even the volunteers were amazing (especially the girl who took all these pictures of Jon and me!), and I loved how organized everything was, unlike smaller conventions I’ve been to.

🖤🖤 This is quite possibly the nicest human being on this earth. I met Jeffrey Dean Morgan the first night of Walker Stalker Nashville and he was so happy to see this Lucille my friends made. And when I met him again the next day, a whole day later, he pulled me into the biggest hug and told me I was “rocking it today.” He was so happy to see me again and even pulled me into another hug before I had to run off. Perfect example on actors not being anything like their characters! 🖤🖤

Some of my personal photos from Walker Stalker Nashville.  I told Jeffrey I wanted to stare at each other like two staring contest champions facing off in an international staring contest and he flipped his glasses back and squared off. When I turned to leave the op, he told he me was ready to keep going because he wanted to win the thing.  Cooper Andrews is the best hugger and Steven Ogg is awesome. I was stoked to finally meet Sarah too, and she was super sweet.
Also Jeffrey loved Tiny Daryl dressed as Negan and showed him to Norman before I could. :) Norman took a pic of them together so I’m hoping it makes it up because I really wanna see it. lol

Top picture was right before going to Heroes and Villans Fanfest / Walker Stalker. Behold, the Best Dad Ever. I was in character the entire time I was there. Photo ops, poses, it didn't matter. I was the embodiment of the Ghost of Sparta himself. That is, until one picture moment... The bottom picture is what made me break character. Just like the rest of the pics I took, I struck my pose, scowled and help my axe in just the right way to show the runes, not block the shirt, and have it still look pretty natural. It was when the toddler looked up at me while we were posing, I looked down at the little one, still scowling, and they just gently put their head on my chest. The (assumed to be) mother just had a look of what I perceived to be a complex combination of shock, embarrassment and humor. I just put my hand on the child back and we posed after this candid shot was taken. This is it. This is why I cosplay. Moments like that make all the stress and pain of making a cosplay seem trivial. Are you a cosplayer? What do you cosplay as? Why do you cosplay? I wanna know what you all think!

#TDCPod at Walker Stalker Con Nashville
Hey! Kia here to give you a WSCNashville rundown!
Last weekend was a little bittersweet for us, marking the end of an era: our last Walker Stalker Con together! You know how much we’ve enjoyed these: seeing some of our favorite actors up close and personal in a way that really wouldn’t be afforded to us otherwise (because, c’mon, we’re not just going to bump into Danai Gurira on the streets of Nashville anytime…ever) and getting to know these people with pretty faces and even prettier souls in some small bit. Ross Marquand, Jordan Woods-Robinson, Sabrina Gennarino – we’re talking to you. Though it may have been our last, it also just may have been the sweetest.
At the request of one of our listeners, we decided to have a last minute meet-up on Saturday night after the con was over. What took place over those few hours was a little overwhelming.
We know we’re not the biggest podcast and that’s OK. In fact, that may even be best. Because what we lack in numbers, we have in community and we were reminded of that on Saturday night.
When we started this podcast, we just wanted to do something a little fun, a little out of our comfort zone, a little challenging but still housed within this safe space called our friendship. We did not expect to be heard outside of Tennessee and Ohio, but even crazier, we did not expect our ramblings to resonate with…anyone? Ha! Honestly, we were just trying to see if maybe we could host a live watch somewhere in Nashville? But to hear that you enjoy our perspective, that you enjoy things we cringe at (my laugh; my God, ugh) and that you quote us in your real lives? Honestly, it doesn’t even make sense to us, but what a gift we were given to hear things like that. It doesn’t quite seem like an even trade, but we just wanted to take a little time to say thank you for letting us into your lives for (a too long) 2-ish hours a week.
Tumblr media
But also, what’s a Walker Stalker Con post without telling you about the actors we met?
We finally got our long-awaited JDM op; we had one for ATL 2017 but canceled it due to a weird, poorly timed (or maybe perfectly timed) IG post he made about Blue Lives Matter 🙄. I’d never seen Melissa around JDM; her entire demeanor changed. After the photo was taken, she literally clung to him and kept repeating, “I love you,” to which he replied, “I love you, too” with a big squeeze. I actually wish I could have seen my face watching this because I just wasn’t ready for a JDM activated Melissa. 😂 You can read a little more about his impact in her life here!
Tumblr media
If you’ve listened to any of our Walker Stalker Con episodes, you know that we just really. like. Ross Marquand. He’s still the same guy that we met two years ago: sweet, earnest, intentional and just a real pleasure…but that didn’t stop us from harassing him about the possibility of coming on our show.  😂 Honestly, we have no shame at this point, so if you guys want to get in on the campaign, you definitely have our blessing to hit him up on Twitter. Just don’t, ya know, harass him or anything (though he would deserve it just simply because of this crazy pants face he’s making). 🤞
Tumblr media
It’s still so weird to say this is our last Walker Stalker Con together; it feels like we’re graduating! But don’t worry, I succumbed and will be at Atlanta this year because I’m a big believer that your first Andy Lincoln experience shouldn’t be you last (it should be noted that I adopted this belief on October 29, 2017), so you’ll have at least one of us on this Walker Stalker Con journey. But until then, we’d love to answer any questions you have about the whole Walker Stalker experience. What do you think about it?
