Hello! I’m Demon, 23, and I live in the EST zone. This ad will be short and sweet, as it’s really more of an interest check and a dragnet for writing partners rather than a thought-out and fleshed-out plot(I am hoping to share the building of that with you). I’m going to list a short number of requirements/preferences right now:
you must be 21 or older to roleplay with me.
I prefer a 3rd person/past-tense format. I write comfortable between 3-7 paragraphs but can often do more, if my partner matches or comes close to the length of whatever I write. Visa versa, I tend to match my partner’s length per post. My starters always tend to run long, however.
I love a mix of wholesomeness and angst. I am open to and very comfortable with various dark themes, as well as smut/ERP as long as it doesn’t dominate the story. You should know that my characters are submissive types, regardless of how meek or fiery their personality is. Further details can be discussed privately.
I play male/non-binary/non-hetero-normative characters and I also prefer MxM pairings. Very rarely, I will play an AFAB character, but don’t count on it.
I roleplay mainly on Discord, but can be flexible for various platforms.
Now, onto my list of pairings, these can work with original characters.
x our characters are merfolk/sirens x I play a merfolk OC against your pirate OC(historical fantasy plot, think Pirates of the Caribbean) x One of us plays a merfolk against a scientific researcher/journalist/wildlife photographer/cryptid hunter.
I just really like merfolk, mmkay? And pirates. I love pirates. In fact, let’s have more pirates.
x Pirate captain(you) against my French Navy captain OC. He’s a big barrel of fun in a very small, sassy package. If you write this plot with me, I will be your biggest fan.
Aaaand I’ve got some fandom pairings I really want as well. I mean, REALLY want. I’m going to put cute little stars around the roles I will play, if I have a preference.
x Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass(Tim Burton) human!Cheshire Cat x Mad Hatter
x Encanto / Coco Crossover Bruno Madrigal x Héctor Rivera
x The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom Link x Ganondorf
x Potterverse Severus Snape x Fae OC
x The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Dragonborn!OC x Sheogorath x Sanguine
And finally, some various fandom fixations just to throw them out there. Harvestella My Little Pony: FiM(I know, I know, but Luna and Discord are super cool. I would love a Discord to my Luna). Venom Outlast My Pride Watership Down The Addams Family(1991, of course, because… WHEW. DAMN. What I wouldn’t give to be in a wholesome and loving throuple with my healthy marriage goth icons).
That’s almost it. But, there is a post on my page that contains a Google Doc, as a bio for information relating to myself as a writer/roleplayer. It also includes a list of likes/limits for ERP and a writing sample at the end. Please do check it out if you would be so kind. If you like what you see here, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. If I don’t answer for a bit, it’s just because I’m sleeping or doing something, but I’ll get back to you soon. Have a lovely day/night~

I've been reading this book about Bunnelby in Galar called Watership Down, and I'm really enjoying it! I especially like that the author made up a whole Bunnelby language.

Beryl's sergeant application art!
His new mane is based off of his half-brother's and seems to tie in well with his more bulky body as a fully-grown rabbit in Bogweed Woods! Now I just have to finish an rp and acorn purchase for his rank-up qualification.

I’m seeing lots of rp blogs with muses that are all animals - wolves, mice, cats. Not compatible as much with my human muses! I’m considering making a Watership Down muse or two! I might rp as Hazel, Fiver, and maybe Bigwig to start. I think it could be fun. :3

Firstly, that was a great write up about D20, thank you for taking the time to write it.
Secondly, before Burrows End premiered, Aabria mentioned she picked D&D for Burrows End for a reason.
I'm not particularly knowledgeable about various TTRPG systems but you seem to be, so I thought I'd ask you. Would you say D&D was the right system for this season? Or do you think it took away from the story they were trying to tell?
Hi anon, thank you! I am, to be honest, only a dabbler in systems outside of D&D but honestly I feel D&D was fine. I know that with TTRPG systems, the system does to an extent dictate the story, but I don't think that's the problem here - though I do think it might be the problem in Neverafter, which might have gone better in a system designed for horror.
If you were to ask me how I'd "fix" Burrow's End, honestly, what I would do is retain the basic structure of a stoat family displaced by human intervention and I'd keep the concept of Last Bast as a First Stoat-run police state in an exclusion zone nuclear reactor. I would nix the concept of Phoebe entirely and I'd be vaguer about the timeline such that the humans could simply be reasonably returning after however much time is wise to wait, and I'd make this a story strictly about how an external enemy/threat (even one that is only distantly perceived rather than viscerally realized) can radicalize a society into the fascist state we saw. I'd make the First Stoats the final big-bad, expand upon the world more, and limit the radiation to a comics-esque "yes, it made the first stoats live longer and be more powerful" situtation, perhaps with them controlling access to the (well-contained) source of radiation and therefore power rather than the whole secret history of them attacking Dr. Wenabocker.
In short, I'd make it Rats of NIMH/Watership Down meets 1984 with radiation as the resource; rather than Rats of Nimh/Watership Down meets the goofiest of Golden Age Superman meets Generic Police State Vibes meets only the apocryphal bridge of death scene from HBO Chernobyl meets Chariots of Fire meets Bunnicula. Which you could still run quite well in D&D, because D&D is a game that understands the concept of power structures and advancement therein. I don't think the system was the issue here (and honestly, part of why I'm so disappointed is that the intraparty RP, character builds, and combat sequences, all of which D&D supports well, were great and deserved a much better plot).

Honestly if I’d read Watership Down and seen the film at age 12, I probably would have ran one of those RP forums about bunnies a la Warrior Cats RPs or the various wolf/dog RPs back in the early 2000s.

Clifford is a soldierbot around the mental ages of 14 to 15. Due to faulty programming, they appear to have the robot equivalent of schizophrenia and obsessive compulsive disorder, which usually presents as them feeling the need to knock on their helmet exactly four times, or hearing people call their name when nobody’s around, among other things.
Clifford goes by exclusively they/them, no exceptions.

Hello! I wanted to ask if you could share another snippet of the Shadow Realm from Paper Slips (if you want to) please? I honest to god love your writing, and would love to see some more of it. Also another question regarding writing, what inspired your style of writing? Or inspired in general.
Aaaah that's a tough question to answer because at this point I don't really know what inspired my 'style'. It's all pretty mashed together from a bunch of different sources.
Probably most of it comes from the fact I've roleplayed p much since I got on the internet, and the past 10 years pretty consistently. There's a lot I've learned and accumulated from my past partners as we've built off one another, and RP is a constant system of getting responses and feedback on what's working, how to take a narrative in a certain way, and how to get a specific response. Nothing really beats writing a reply that you know is going to have your partner going "AAAAAAAAAAAAA" at you.
I can still offer some authors, I think? Richard Adams (Watership Down) has some very, very good metaphorical and descriptive language, particularly in describing memory and senses other than sight. Terry Pratchett (the Discworld novels) has a good, opinionated narrator and a dry sense of humor. Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide) kind of meets in the middle, with a strong narrator and vivid metaphor.
And sure, I'd love to share another snippet! This section was originally from Chapter 8 when Gregory went to the Security Office, but it ended up getting cut in favor of the arcade machine.
---
Considering for a moment, he leaves the security office (the door opens, this time), making a beeline for the worktable next to the gutted arcade machine.
The scuffed and dented metal toolbox is heavier than he thought, and it takes some effort to drag it to the edge of the shoulder-high table. Grabbing it by the corners as best he can, he starts easing it off the table and into his arms.
...make that easing it off of the table and directly onto the floor.
Dropping his hands from his ears, he stares at the scattering of tools and parts with resignation. Hopefully no one was close enough to have heard that. At least with most of its contents all over the floor the toolbox is a lot easier to pick up, and he carries it away from the carnage and over to the security door. Once the door opens Gregory sets the toolbox down on its end, right in the threshold. He squints up at the door, adjusting the position of the toolbox a little, then takes a few steps back.
The metal security door comes down on the toolbox with a loud clang! that has Gregory covering his ears again. Something up above the doorframe squeals, gears crunching, and the toolbox scrapes against the black and white tile of the office floor when it twists a little, but ultimately everything stays in place. Satisfied with his solution for a secure escape, Gregory finally enters the security office to start searching for something that can get him to the fire escape.
(gets the employee badge)
There's nothing else in the security office that he needs, so he heads out the door, dragging the toolbox with him and pretending he doesn't notice how the security door doesn't actually close all the way now. He'd had some vague idea of maybe cleaning up all the tools spilled on the floor, but after staring at the scattering of metal and plastic, he just leaves the toolbox sitting next to the workbench instead. That was a problem for someone else to handle.

I had thoughts TM yesterday when I came home from the cinema, but I was too tired to write them down. Now I'm awake and these thoughts are still around, so here we go. It pretty much started off with 'why I don't really like the 2003 TMNT' but turned into a whole 'TMNT and Me' thing, so I put it under a read more. Because it's long.
So, as you know by now probably, I was born 1986. When I got older and started to watch cartoons on Saturday morning, I regularly watched the 1987 iteration of the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'. And boy I loved them. I'd get mad every time we went to visit my grandma on the weekend and I couldn't watch my favorite show. I didn't know at that time that there was a comic to it that was much darker actually.
Several years later, I got into Anime & Manga. Well, mostly Manga actually. The amount of available Manga in my country started growing around 2000. I also remember that I didn't watch that much tv because I just didn't really vibe with 2000s cartoons anymore. I think I saw glimpses of the 2003 Turtles when I zapped through channels and found them way too gritty. I couldn't really get behind why they made the Turtles that buff and rude and everything you know? People are complaining about Netflix turning children's shows all dark and gritty and how they hate this new trend, but that 'trend' started already before Netflix if you ask me. Mind you, I was no stranger to dark and serious cartoons as a kid though. We had a fair share of them. The Black Cauldron, for example. All Dogs Go to Heaven included serious topics too. And my dad let me watch Felidae when he thought 'Oh, there's a cartoon with cats for Sabine to watch', only for the cartoon to reveal that it is absolutely NOT made for kids lmao. I also watched 'Watership Down'. I mean, if you're familiar with these titles, you'll know.
But to get back to seeing the 2003 Turtles the first time, I just couldn't get behind that 'edgy action hero' vibe. So I dismissed the series and didn't follow it further. I continued reading Manga or watching Anime where available. I recall getting into series already BEFORE they got released here, Fullmetal Alchemist being a good example. YEARS later people jumped onto that train and I was already hyper-focused on other series. I spent time working on my own websites and improving my English skills over time as well. I was all over the place on the internet and met people on a website called Animexx, where I got to rp. Just a lot of stuff, I ain't going to unpack all that.
To be quite honest, I completely missed the 2012 Turtles back then. I rarely watched TV anymore around that time, I was busy with other stuff like finding my first job and all that. I finished my apprenticeship late, it was around 2011 when I did. So I had a lot of other things on my mind. I also missed Rise! pretty much on 2018. I had to move back to my parents around 2017 after I had my own apartment 2014-2017, and I was once again searching for a new job there. I recall it was a mess. I believe it was 2018 when I started working at that place I was for 5 years, the longest I worked somewhere. So, I believe it was around 2021 when I discovered Rise. And yes, I've grown much more open-minded to my 'favorite series' having a different spin to them since. I actually enjoyed Rise a lot. And it has also a special place in my heart because it did bring me back to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which I was so obsessed with as a kid. Also, I've grown very much tired with Manga & Anime at that point because there's such a FLOOD now. Around 2000, a new Manga release was something special. Now it's impossible to keep up anymore.
Not too long ago, I thought about checking the 2003 iteration of TMNT out again and stumbled over Turtles Forever. And listen, I get the point they tried to make there. The 2003 Turtles being closer to their origins, being serious and edgy and all that, whereas the 1987 Turtles have been made kids-friendly and goofy. I DO get that. But they had the '87 Turtles pretty much incompetent and obnoxious from the beginning to the finish and as someone loving the '87 boys, I took offense in that. It just didn't feel right to me how they portrayed them the way they did there. In the first and last seasons of the old TMNT series, there had been more serious tunes too. I mean come on, they aren't THAT incompetent.
*takes a DEEP breath* It can be done better, and the writers of the 2012 series proved that. They also picked up on 'the '87 Turtles were made kids-friendly and wouldn't do well in a more serious series' fact. They were also portrayed as being obnoxious in the beginning. But instead of having the 2012 Turtles act as demeaning babysitters, they trained their '87 counterparts and worked together with them. The way how the crossover ended was just a lot more wholesome to me. Plus, they included Bebop & Rocksteady and gave the boys their redemption arc there! I loved that a lot.
I'm definitely biased tho and I'm sure I will watch the '03 Turtles eventually, just like I binge-watched the 2012 ones. I mean credit where credit is due, they originally came up with Bishop and I love that guy there just as much as I love 2012's version of him (even though they are absolute polar opposites). I watched a 2003 Bishop compilation on youtube and that guy is something else. Also, I know that some of my mutuals here prefer the 2003 TMNT over the others, and let me tell you here that's perfectly fine! I know 2003 has been your childhood and I respect that. I'd love to hear about your favorite parts of it! In the end, we all love TMNT and I love talking to people about it, it doesn't matter which version. Also, a bottom line I want to share here is something that bothers me about long-time fandoms that have different iterations. I mean, I made it a point that I'm not awfully fond of the 2003 iteration all in all, but I would never go on youtube and reply to someone excitedly commenting on a 2003 video about how I think it sucks. Don't fucking do that, people. You can voice your opinion separately in your own comment and be on your way again. Don't bash and attack people for liking something you don't. It's really not that hard. I've seen posts around here on tumblr as well with questionable replies to them. Just... let others enjoy their favorite version of their series.
