yknow what i think it's pretty fucked up that my instinctual reaction to hearing any mention of the holocaust is to brace myself for antisemitic talking points. in discussion about a jewish genocide.
holocaust inversion, universalization, minimalization, and denial are inexcusable in any context, and the fact that they've become this common is appalling on every level.

getting a number of tags like these on my post and idk. like i want to say that i'm an extremely big fan of the importance of context & setting when it comes to approaching history, it's deeply important to keep in mind at every point. but at the same time i feel really weird about how much people feel the instinctive need to separate roman slavery and e.g. 19th century slavery, & how uncomfortable people seem to be with any comparison or association between the two beyond 'both being slavery'. there were absolutely notable differences (the racial aspect for a major one) but the way people seem to sort of historically quarantine them as things that happened entirely independently of each other & not acknowledge any similar systems or characteristics that might draw parallels between the two is. idk. i think historical comparison can be a very valuable tool & i feel like it's worth examining why people think there's nothing at all roman in 19th c slavery etc etc

Not going to lie, I’m surprised the fandom isn’t eating up the new tone shift and characters’ struggles in ep5. Maybe I’m not looking in the right spaces but fandoms usually love that stuff.
I KNOW I mean the amount of angst art that was made prior to the episode really made me think people were gonna take everything from the new ep and run with it. Though that's not to say people didn't. I've seen plenty of people discuss what happened in the episode (especially regarding John and his daughter/his family in general,, people were going insane over that and I get it like we're getting deeper into what happened to him and his family which I'm also super interested in. Plus seeing his photos in Ignacio's house really got people discussing his connections/past with the cult and how there's such a specific focus on John).

sometimes you get 5k words into a wip and go "what if i wrote something ELSE." and then you get 3k words into that and go "but what if. i wrote something. NEW." and then you get 1k words into that and then you go "BUT WHAT IF--"
and then your hands go numb and you admit defeat

It's Pride Month! How would Pep and the others celebrate?
(Happy Pride month!!!
We will get into how the others celebrate pride later, but this would technically be Pep's first pride, and he's still figuring that out!
(Spoiler alert: He'll be queer in some way, bc everyone here is, hehe)

Hey do you think Jamil has trouble seeing people his age as peers?
Like, growing up having to be a caretaker to a guy literally a few months older than him, always expected to act like the adult in the situation, expected to work with adults and adopt their perspectives and pick up their slack. Do you think he just, forgets sometimes?
I mean we've seen him go into caretaker mode with other sophomores, and the only people I've seen him take seriously are juniors like Vil who also act much older than they should have to (his reactions to Leona look more like a trauma response and I don't wanna get into it here). People like Malleus and Cater still somewhat get the caretaker treatment. Like I just highly doubt that he subconsciously realizes he's actually part of his age group
Aaand that inevitably brings up Azul, who also acts like he thinks he's older than he is. Whether you're looking at it from a shipping angle or not, he reacts to Azul like an actual peer. With older students, he seems more in his element but there's still a status hierarchy which he compulsively reacts to. With Azul he doesn't acknowledge any status worth respecting or see him as someone who needs to be looked after. He just bickers like an equal, in a way that implies he actually does see Azul as a real peer, like subconsciously he's categorized this guy into the same group as himself, who was previously alone on that level (he gets like this more with the twins too, over time, but it seems to start with Azul).
And my favorite part about this is, while that response stems from them both acting more like adults in general, they elicit a pettiness from each other which drags them both down to actually acting their own age, and I just love that. Their characters are perfect foils for each other and it seems to make them both less isolated in a way.
