Mr. Doberbutts, I’m looking for recourses when researching dog foods since in general everything out there is so conflicting. Any advice or things to look for.
What I know is a hodgepodge of vetrinary advice combined with studies combined with just owning dogs so take this with a grain (or several) of salt:
Dogs are carnivorous animals, but they are not obligate carnivores. What this means is that while the bulk of their diet should be meats and animal-based protein, other sources of nutrition are not bad for them and should be considered as a viable part of their diet. It also means that dogs are not meant to survive on vegan diets, and that while many will (like humans, dogs as a species are highly adaptable survivalists) it's a subpar diet for the majority of dogs. Dogs evolved alongside human communities eating scraps and trash. But that doesn't mean we should be feeding just scraps and trash now that we know better.
Grains aren't bad unless your dog has an actual, proven allergy to them. The majority of food-based allergies in dogs are to proteins and specifically chicken and beef. Wheat and corn are the next common offenders. This is why a lot of allergy-friendly food you can get in a store aka without a prescription is something like salmon and rice or turkey and barley.
If you feed kibble, there MUST be what's called a 'binder' added to the ingredients as without it the kibble ingredients will just form a powder or a paste, they won't be in those hard little crunchie chunks dogs love to eat. Most companies use grains as a binder more than as a source of nutrition (and if it is as a source of nutrition, it's mainly just for fiber and carbs). This creates a problem for grain-free foods as there still needs to be a binder to get the kibble form. Many grain-free formulas used lentils and legumes for their binders because it gave the added benefit of boosting [plant-based] protein percentages. This is bad for a few different reasons:
Recently, in the last couple years, we've seen higher amounts of dietary DCM in breeds that did not have a genetic link to DCM like dobermans do. Multiple studies have traced this back to a correlation to higher amounts of legumes and lentils, usually chickpeas, in grain-free dog food and even in grain-inclusive dog food that used these ingredients to boost [plant-based] protein percentages. Since obviously no one wants their dog to randomly drop dead, this presented a major problem to the way dog food is made and marketted.
Additionally, legumes and lentils have a known link to infertility, small litter sizes, and neonate deformities in breeding dogs. This has mostly flown under the radar in this country since most people spay/neuter their dogs quite young and never breed, and thus wouldn't have noticed a decline in reproductive health. However even before the dietary DCM studies came out there were warnings not to feed foods too reliant on pea and pea-protein as anything that harms reproductive health will also have a negative effect elsewhere on the body.
There are, still, some dogs allergic to grain. So what do we feed those dogs if all the grainfree foods are using problematic ingredients as their binder? Thanlfully many grainfree formulas have switched to using different binders such as pumpkin, egg, and tapioca powder - which have not yet been found to be problematic on a dietary level - but are significantly more expensive and thus the price of grainfree food has risen dramatically per-pound.
Tl:dr if your dog doesn't need grainfree, grain inclusive is not a bad thing to feed. I have my girls on a grain-inclusive, but Creed needed grainfree. It'll be cheaper for you in the long run anyway.
I do not feed foods from companies or that source from companies that do not have at least the same level of food handling laws as the US. This is due to a scandel in the early 2000s where several companies sourcing their meats from China realized there was fraud happening internally, and euthanized cats and dogs sometimes with flea collars still on were being ground and sold as pet-safe meat product. That's right, we were being sold "beef" to put in dog food that was actually dog. As if that on the surface isn't bad enough, pesticides such as flea collars are not meant to be eaten, and euthanasia drugs are toxic in all intake methods including ingesting meat from a euthanized animal. So... as one can expect, we only found out about this because a bunch of dogs started dying. This problem is still ongoing, the last sweep of implicated companies per the FDA was in 2018. China was a major country implicated in this scandel but there have been a few other countries with similar, lower-than-US-standard food handling laws that have been caught as well. I'm not saying the FDA is the gold standard, but at least it doesn't tolerate pentobarbital being fed to living dogs.
I rotate company, formula, and protein often. This is because IF there is a dietary deficiency within my dog's food, it is much harder to catch as it takes a long time to do damage to the body. By switching things up, even if every bag is somehow deficient, the liklihood of all of them being deficient in the same way is incredibly low. I switch my dogs over slowly to avoid upset stomachs but otherwise they're usually on something different every couple of months.
Lastly, having worked at a pet store for almost a decade, there are just some foods I don't care how good they're supposed to be I simply will not buy or feed them. I have dealt with repeat offenders for torn bags, recalls, quality control, mold, infestations, sharp pieces of glass or metal, etc that I just won't take the chance that what's on the shelf is actually safe for my dog. There's foods I've watched lawsuit after lawsuit, recall after recall, and I'm just not going to buy it for my dogs end of story. I don't care who made it or how good it's supposed to be when I'm seeing reports of dogs dying and the company drags its feet to pull the product off the shelf. Every single one of these companies is a corporation with the singular target of making more money, they care less what is actually good for the dogs and more what is markettable. I'm not going to trust them if it's been proven time and again behind closed doors that there's shady practice going on, and I'm certainly not going to let my dogs eat their foods if they can't even figure out packing and warehouse concerns.

In honor of me getting food poisoning from a high end sushi joint last night, Axis and Allies when they go out to eat with their s/o and come home violently sick?
I'm not laughing at you, just the scenerio! Can anyone say- Shady restaurants? Also- I'm sorry this took forever to get too!
TW: Mention of food sick symptoms!
Allies:
America:
He had rented a camper for him and his S/O to travel across a few states. This also means stopping at a relatively shady restaurant in the middle of a nowhere town. As soon as they walked in, the room went silent. America being American had zero cares about that. He wanted the biggest burger on the menu, and got whatever his prescious S/O wanted. By the time they got back to the camper something felt off. Both his and his S/O felt sick to their stomach. They went back to the restaurant to file a complaint, but the whole building was shut down due to poor conditions.
"Well... Now we definitely know why were both sick as a dog... Come on, I got some mints and tums to help digest..."
England:
His food wasn't always the best, but his S/O has been teaching him how to cook, and wanted to surprise them with his new found skills. He rented himself to a restaurant and made an excuse to his S/O that he had a business call. While his S/O waited for his return he sneakily cooked them their favorite meal. Little did he know the staff didn't tell him about some expired ingredients. His S/O was impressed... Until they got home.
They only found out the day after, and recovering with lots of ginger ale, that the staff was neglectful.
France:
He took them to his favorite restaurant, and it had the most amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. His S/O was spoiled with fancy foods, and a well made dessert. But something didn't sit right, and they fell ill. So he took them home early where he spent his time rubbing their back as the threw up what the had eaten. Along with the sweating France knew it was a minor case of food poisoning, or the very least something didn't agree with them.
He later found out the new Head Chef had held onto a sauce that wasn't supposed to be used after a few hours. The chef left it on the counter, and France had some choice words to say.
China:
He's the last person anyone should be giving him, or his Panda Bun bad food. Food is a bit of a sacred act of love, and culture. So when they came back from a sushi restaurant, he was livid. He took a small whiff of his Darling's leftovers and knew immediately the fish went bad.
Needless to say he went back after his S/O felt better. They got their money back, and then some.
Russia:
He was so happy the share some of his culture with his S/O. Even if they were use to his own food, it was still special to him. But seeing his Snowflake hurling up their food made him extremely upset. He didn't leave their side until they were fully recovered. They might have to beg him to not cause a scene, but in Russia, his idea of "conversation" was a normal. Especially when he was involved...
Axis:
Germany:
He was terrified they were having an allergic reaction at first. But then they started throwing up as soon as they got out of the car at home. Thankfully he didn't need to get their stomach pumped or anything, and treated them a little extra special. Back rubs, foot massages, cuddles, anything. He kept a bucket with them, and made them something to replace what nutrients they might have lost. Thankfully that stayed down, and even stopped them from being sick.
Italy:
He knew what to do since his own stomach is kind of sensitive. So yes, they were both taking turns running to the bathroom. He had all the essentials. Medicine, herbal teas, a heating pad for the tummies, and extra cuddle time! Even when he wasn't feeling himself, he did what he could to cheer up his lover as they became quick friends with the nearest trashcan.
Japan:
There's McDonald's in Japan, and they were desperate for food. His S/O had been kind enough to pay for them both, but soon regretted it as their stomach turned in the middle of the night. Japan felt them shift out of bed and run off. Naturally he decided to follow them, and only stopped at the doorway when he heard them vomiting in the toilet. His face darkened with second hand embarrassment as he offered them help. Now he remembers why he didn't go to McDonalds anymore...

One word for you...
Tumblr media
Where I have not gone plastic-free:
Bread box: There are no plastic-free, airtight bread boxes that I’ve been able to find and I *must have* airtight. I make my own bread in a bread machine just because I like to, and the first few loaves I made here on the humid island grew mold within three days because my old bread box was not airtight. Bread bags are more eco-friendly but aren’t airtight, and will hold the humidity. I could find no silicon boxes and also could not find silicone containers/bags that I could be sure would be big enough to hold a loaf of bread and still close completely. I’m considering a giant silicone bag I found online, for marinating meat, so if I get that I can see if a loaf will fit inside. But I haven’t pulled the trigger on that yet, buying something just to marinate meat doesn’t fall neatly into the “I really need it now” category. So I purchased a BPA-free plastic, airtight box and it seems to be working very well. It’s so airtight that I was able to store bananas in it as well and there has been no sign of fruit flies.
Suncare: I spent two days working on the porch. I was under a roof in shade the entire time but I sunburn if I stand next to a toaster, so at the end of the second day I looked like Roy Neary in “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. As in the right half of my face was bright red. I wasn’t wearing sunscreen because it breaks me out. All of it. Every single sunscreen ever. They all break out my face, neck and chest within 20 minutes of application. So I did some research and learned about mineral sunscreens versus chemical sunscreens and after reading a lot of recommendations and reviews, I ordered Alba Botanica Sensitive Mineral Sunscreen. Yes the tube is plastic, but there’s probably no avoiding that. The sport cream is 45 SPF, waterproof for up to 80 minutes, vegan, free of all the chemicals that turn my face into a Marscape, biodegradable and - get this - reef safe. That’s a “gee how nice” for most people but now that I’m swimming around coral reefs, shit got real. They also make a spray-on but it’s not legal to ship aerosol cans to Hawaii, something about them exploding under pressure blah-bibby-blah. Pretty bummed about that. For those wondering, until now I’ve worn a sun visor whenever I’m outdoors but it didn’t occur to me to wear it on a covered porch. I’m sure it didn’t occur to Roy on a dark deserted highway in the middle of an Indiana night, either. LATER UPDATE: Native makes a mineral sunscreen and I thought it wasn't water resistant, but it turns out that it is, although I should not have had to dig so deep into their website to find this out. Better than getting anal probed, all things considered. The Alba sunscreen is very thick and hard to squeeze out of the tube, and you can feel it on your skin at first but you forget pretty quickly. It is completely unscented. You have to make sure to rub it in well if you don’t want to look a little weird. It showers off clean and easy and after a few days with it, not a single blemish! Our pharmacy sells some water resistant mineral sunscreens. I didn’t price them the last time I was there to compare with online ordering and they are probably reef-safe because as of January 1 of this year, suncreeens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate are banned in Hawaii to protect the reefs. But my next purchase will be Little Hands because it is made right here in Hawaii. I have been a big believer in ‘buy local’ for many years and they are plastic-free.
Groceries: Groceries haven’t changed. I’ve been using cloth shopping and produce bags for many years, they just bloody well work better. I do buy some foods in plastic, often there just isn’t any alternative. This was true even on the mainland. The main change is that now I walk to the store more often than not. I was able to walk to almost everything I needed when I lived in Austin’s SoCo in the early aughts and I loved it, I am so so happy to be able to do that again. Knowing I’m just a pleasant stroll away also means that I only buy what I need in the immediate future. There are a few exceptions for items that sell out very soon after the weekly supply barge comes, and don’t always get restocked even then. I drive when I have to buy heavy or awkward to carry things, like a case of soda. I’ve found conflicts with grocery choices because of a weird contradiction: non-hippie products in cardboard/paper packaging versus hippie products in plastic. I first noticed this when I went to buy sugar the other day - do I get the organic non bleached sugar in the plastic bag, or the nonorganic bleached sugar in the plastic bag? It wasn’t much of a conflict in any real world sense, just something that grabbed my attention. (I went with the plastic by the way, for the organic foodstuff that was going to go into my body).
Probably the clothesline, I have no idea what the hell that thing is made of, most likely nylon. We don’t use it for everything because it’s too humid here to dry everything in a reasonable amount of time. But we use it for some things - especially towels and swim wear - and I’m glad that we have it and it saves money on electricity. Our electricity generation here on the island is likely solar but still, no need to be greedy about it. Lots of people here have clotheslines, they are a common sight I am glad to see.
Bandages: I use Wellys. Patch bamboo bandages sound great, but I am clumsy AF and so I need bandages that are going to stay on through wet and dry and everything else. Wellys are flexible fabric, latex-free bandages made in the USA, in reusable tins that you can buy refills for if you don’t want a new tin, and that create a seal around all four edges. They are a certified B Corp so even with a bit of plastic, the company is still in line with my ethics.
Makeup: I use mostly mineral makeup, because it lasts longer (no organic ingredients to breed bacteria) and many mineral brands offer smaller quantities that are more sensible for people who don’t wear it everyday, or at least don’t wear the same colors every day. On the mainland I went weeks without wearing makeup and here I’ll probably go for months, it’s just such a casual place. I might wear some when we go across to Maui for a long weekend. But there are a lot of all natural and plastic-free makeup options out there these days, I am glad to see. If I need to replace anything I will shop with them but it’s just stupid and wasteful to toss everything out and buy new. One thing I won’t compromise on is mascara, I use Thrive because it really does what it claims, and it is still a company that aligns with my ethics. Many zero-waste brands sell cake mascara and that’s a complete nope for me. I tried cake mascara in high school, when I was going through my Audrey Hepburn/Sophia Loren makeup phase and I really didn’t like it. I also tried cake eyeliner and must confess that this elder goth never ever got the hang of liquid eyeliner, Icarus winged better than I can. I gave up a long time ago, pencil me in baby. Also, I wear lipstick, the paint-on stuff that stays on through food, drink, sex and a nuclear blast. IMO, lip balms are a waste of money and do not count as ‘makeup’, unless you’re only intention is to prevent chapped lips and with a small amount of color that lasts few minutes at a time.
Hair brush: I need a new hair brush that is designed for my long fine mane because my hair is getting a lot of punishment here, between wind and swimming and so more frequent washing and lots of pulling and tugging into braids. I bounced back and forth between Ibiza (boar bristles, wood handle) and Mason Pearson (boar bristles, plastic handle), for about half an hour. I finally decided to bite the big one and invest in the Mason Pearson. It is universally reputed as the best hair brush to be had on planet Earth. The was company founded in London by a Yorkshireman named Mason Pearson (bet you didn’t see that coming) in 1885. The boar bristles are either shed bristles collected from the wild in India and China or sourced from the meat industry as they are a by-product of processing farmed boar; you may ask so I will answer and yes, I do eat boar. Mason Pearson is still owned and run by the Pearson family and the Pearson women have always played integral roles in the company. Indeed Mary Pearson was the CEO for the 20 years following the death of her husband, founder Mason, and one of their daughters ran the top floor of the factory on Old Ford Road in London for 50 years. You can purchase a brush with a handcrafted made-to-order wood handle but while I am willing to make the investment in a Mason Pearson brush, I just can’t bring myself to be so self-indulgent as to even send a price inquiry for the wood model. This is where my best friend reminds me of the lengths I went to and the price I paid to obtain a bottle of the finest Irish whiskey in the world to demonstrate that yes, I can be that self-indulgent without much convincing. I just can’t bring myself to do it with a hair brush. I purchased from Pasteur Pharmacy in NYC because they made their bones, if you will, in their early years in the 60s by catering to humans with dogs.
Bed blanket: I just couldn’t bring myself to buy a bamboo blanket/bedspread that costs in the $275 neighborhood when the dogs will be spending at least as much time on it as we will spend under it. So we went with half cotton/half bamboo for a much more reasonable price. The temps here are warm by the thermometer but the air is heavy with humidity (100% yesterday and that doesn’t necessarily mean rain), so when the fans blow it around it can be pretty damn chilly. And the dogs steal the covers.
Clothing: if I need new clothing I will consider bamboo but it’s damned expensive. I was shopping for a second bathing suit recently because I’m at the beach often enough that I need a suit to wear while the other one is drying or waiting to be laundered free of all the salt and sand that didn’t wind up in my ass or under my tits. I always thought that sand-in-uncomfortable-places was a joke, I was very wrong. I spent two hours searching for bamboo or other plant-based sustainable fabric or recycled fabric and found nothing under a hundred bucks. Nothing. Not even a thong bikini (I already have sand up my ass, I don’t need material there as well). I’m not lounging instagrammatically on Waikiki, I’m swimming in 5+ foot surf every weekend at least, so I am not willing to pay that much for a suit intended for plenty of use and punishment. I got a bikini because it will be easier to discreetly rinse most of the sand away before going back up the beach, if you know what I mean and I think you do.

Chapter Eleven
*Fake It Until You Make It Real*
**I've been asked and here it is! This story has a playlist on Spotify under the same title as the story made by Kelly with the same profile picture! If you have any trouble let me know. There will also be one for my other story Falling In Love Through The Phone**
*playlist link (I think)*
Louis walked into the kitchen confused as he looked around the house. Harry was only in the Halloween sleep pants he had slipped on after they decided to get out of bed.
"Where is everyone?" Louis asked walking up behind Harry and wrapping his arms around his waist.
"Oh, Liam and Niall offered to take the dogs on a walk and Freddie asked if he could go too. I told them I didn't know how you'd feel considering you just met them, and Zayn and Amy offered to go along so I agreed. And before you worry, they completely understood and were not offended at all. They left about ten minutes ago. Freddie has taken to Niall though; Niall was showing him my guitars and how to play them. Niall has already promised a kid guitar as a Christmas gift for both the kids."
"Anyway, we can convince him to take it back and claim he couldn't find any?" Louis asked.
"Afraid not. Freddie was too excitedly about it and I don't break little hearts."
"Only little ones?" Louis teased.
"Well, you are little- Ow! Not the nipples." Harry said turning to face Louis and wrap his own arms around him, "come on I have a surprise for you."
"Oh, you do. What is it?" Harry didn't answer just kept his arms around him as he led them towards the second living room making Louis walk backwards. Louis tried to look but Harry turned him around and covered his eyes, "what? Harold!"
"Relax you'll be fine." Suddenly he was stopped and shifted around then the hands were removed. When he looked, he noticed they were in the small sunroof with breakfast laid out on a blanket and candles that filled the room with a beachy scent and a record player playing at a low volume.
"What is this?" Louis asked.
"It's breakfast silly. Don't mind the half-eaten waffle Freddie demanded it." Louis laughed as he watched Harry grabbed the plain half eaten waggle off a plate and toss it into the main hall as if it never was there, "I really hope that wasn't in the photos I took."
"It adds character." Louis said grinning as he kissed Harry's cheek, "thank you this is great if with the decor Freddie added makes more special."
"Look I'm trying to impress you I don't need Freddie to show me up with his talents." Louis shook his head as he led Harry into the room by his hand making him sit down first then he slotted himself between his legs leaning back against his chest, "look I even dug out my fancy tea set." Harry said excitedly as he showed off his baby blue floral teacups and saucers.
"Very fancy. I practically feel like royalty." Louis said grinning widely, "since I'm royalty i absolutely cannot pour my own tea you'll have to simply do it for me."
"Ah yes how dare I make you lift a single finger." Harry said kissing his hand that he was holding while the other hand poured the tea carefully. Louis absolutely refused to admit he giggled when Harry maybe a clinking sound on accident, "Shhh it didn't happen."
"Oh yes my mistake." Louis said grabbing a chocolate drizzled fruit kabob, "I heard not a thing."
"Exactly." Harry said pressing a kiss against his cheek as he grabbed his own kabob, "who says romance is dead with kids."
"The half-eaten waffle decor definitely says something." Breakfast was finished between laughter and sips of tea, but that apparently wasn't all Harry had planned. He was up and changing the record to something else. When the vinyl was in and the needle was moved Harry pulled Louis up to his feet.
"Dance with me."
"Dance with you to what?" Louis asked skeptically even if he did wrap an arm around Harry and slide his hand in his free one. Before Harry had a chance to respond Shania Twin filled the room and Louis grinned, "I knew I was marrying a man with good taste. Though I must say I'm shocked it's not Abba."
"Oh, don't worry they're in the list of potential wedding songs. After all we do have quite the story to tell with our first dance. Who knows maybe Abba tells it better than Shania. Hard to believe I know, but it's possible." Louis didn't even deem that worthy of a response especially when the introduction ended, and the first words started to play.
Looks like we made it Look how far we've come, my baby We mighta took the long way We knew we'd get there someday
They said, "I bet they'll never make it" But just look at us holding on We're still together, still going strong
You're still the one I run to The one that I belong to You're still the one I want for life You're still the one that I love The only one I dream of You're still the one I kiss goodnight
Louis grinned as he and Harry sang along with the lyrics, Harry's voice mending with his perfectly as they did a simple step and sway slow dance. His hand slid in Harry's hair pulling him down for a soft slow kiss and neither of them noticed when the others came back and stood in the doorway. Louis pulled away and gently guided Harry into a spin making them both laugh before their lips met again then it was Louis' turn to spin. As the last words were sung, they're lips touched again with emotion that seemed too strong with how little they knew each other, but Louis pushed it aside jumping when their friends 'awww'd loudly causing both of them to turn and see them standing there. Liam had Freddie on his shoulders and Niall had his phone out recording them.
"You two are so cute. I'm sending this to your mother Harry." Niall said as he walked away typing something on his phone, "don't worry I'm sending it to you two as well."
"We should get dressed. Busy day today, you go ahead, and I'll clean up."
"You sure?" Louis asked.
"Yes, now leave." Harry said gently pushing Louis towards the door.
"Alright come on Freddie let's get you ready as well mister Jammies." Louis said taking Freddie groaning slightly, "You're getting big kid."
"Liam says I'm light."
"Yeah, for him he has biceps the size of China. We don't listen to him." Louis grumbled hearing the lads laugh as he walked away.
****
Shopping was Harry was different than he expected or imagined. Since Harry didn't worry about money Louis had assumed Harry just tossed things in without much thought process and just swiped his card without worry. Turns out he was very wrong. Everything Harry bought he had a purpose for which really shouldn't have surprised Louis now that he thought about it. Though Harry also pretended not to notice when Freddie snuck snacks into the cart and buried them under things and Louis didn't say anything wishing for Harry to stop him when it was enough. Freddie was currently on his tenth box and Harry was reading the back of a noodle box as if it weren’t just a box of noodles that he had in his cupboards at the house. When Freddie had successfully hidden it only then did Harry coincidentally finish as well and put it in the cart pretending to not notice the junk food in his cart.
"What?" Harry asked innocently when Louis continued to stare at him, "I was reading the ingredients making sure they hadn't changed it."
"Uh huh. I'm not saying anything. It’s all on you this time." Harry looked betrayed but then he sniffed and turned away from Louis.
"Fine. I can totally say no when I need to." Harry said grabbing a few different boxes of pasta before he pushed the cart down a different aisle.
"Papa." Freddie whispered tugging on Louis' hand.
"Yes?"
"Harry needs cookies."
"Oh, he does?" Louis asked looking at Harry who was humming as he quickly grabbed two of the same jams and read the backs of them as if they were different.
"Yeah, but we have to be sneaky about it. I am a break hider with Harry because he reads a lot unlike you so we can sneak in a lot I bet."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, and I reckon if we guess his favorite, he won't say no no matter how many we bring back, so I think we being back one of each."
"Wow you thought this one through. One of each you said." Louis said looking at Harry who started pushing the cart forward, "hey Haz."
"Yes, my darling?" Harry asked innocently as he looked back at them.
"Freddie and I are going to go look around you uh...have anything to say to us?"
"Have fun. Make smart choices." Harry said before he hurried down the aisle, Louis shook his head as he grabbed Freddie's hand and followed him down to the correct isle.
Harry didn't question it when Freddie practically begged that he and Louis unload the cart while Harry stood with his back to the belt. Louis shook his head glad he had sneakily snuck out the snacks he knew Freddie wouldn't miss or have eaten while Freddie and Harry had been picking fruits and vegetables. Harry didn't even question why there was ten boxes of random snacks in the produce section as he kept Freddie distracted by letting him push the cart.
"You're welcome." Louis had whispered.
"No idea what you are talking about."
"Uh huh." Harry grinned turning to peck him on his lips but never admitted to anything.
"Papa I think some things fell out but that’s okay. I think he would have noticed if we had too much." Freddie whispered.
"I think you're right. It must have fallen out when we helped rearrange the cart." Louis whispered back.
"Yeah, I think so too."
The cashier was grinned as she swiped the junk food boxes after having swiped the things Harry and Louis had picked out for dinners and lunches. The last fifteen items were obviously picked by a child and was obviously a 'secret'. She even played along by double bagging the items and sneakily handing them over the belt with a wink. Louis then pushed the cart ahead and started putting the bags in the cart while Harry paid for the groceries grinning. When everything was packed Louis moved ahead out of the way and helped Freddie put on his jacket. When Harry came over shoving his wallet and receipt into his pocket Freddie was  ready to go out to the chilly October weather. When they got to the Murano Louis got Freddie into the booster first then went around and helped Harry finished packing everything. When they were back in the Murano Louis made sure Freddie was strapped in correctly before he buckled himself.
The drive to the apartment building was short and when Harry parked, he kept the Murano running and leaned over to kiss Louis on the lips.
"I'll be back."
"Okay we'll be here." Harry got out and hurried inside the building to escape the chilly breeze that accompanied the end of October. He hurried inside the elevator and pressed the fifth-floor button and then to room 409, He pulled out his phone and went to the camera app pressing the record button then he put the phone in his shirt pocket, so the camera was visible. His lawyer told him never to talk to her about Maddie without recording the conversation whenever possible and make sure to get her face so they could prove it was her. When it was situated, he knocked on the red door and waited only a few seconds before it was opened revealing Hannah dressed in a very revealing dress that Harry quickly averted his eyes upon seeing.
"Where's Maddie?" Harry asked stepping inside the apartment when she widen the door for him to enter.
"She's in her room." Harry tensed when Hannah's hand touched his shoulder. He quickly moved away from it and looked at her, "oh come on Harry...Danny isn't here, and Maddie doesn't have to know."
"I'm not interested. I'm also not available as you know. I'm engaged. I'm just here for my daughter. Maddie!"
"Daddy!" Harry grinned turning when a door opened and Maddie came out with a small suitcase making him frown slightly, "I'm ready."
"That's great princess what all did you pack? You look like you're ready to run away." Harry teased assuming she had packed toys or something.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you you're getting her for a week because Dan and I are leaving to look at a few homes in America where his transfer will be."
"A week? That would have been nice to know before today."
"It's a week or nothing. We leave tonight and we don't have a ticket for her, so we'd drop her off as Dan's parents’ place tonight otherwise.”
“Well, no I want her. Of course, I want her I just wish you would have told me. But thank you anyway for letting me keep her for the week.”
“You could thank me in another way.” She suggested.
“Not interested. Ready to go Mads?”
“She already ate so there’s no need to feed her dinner tonight.” Hannah said stepping closer, Harry immediately stepped back and opened the door.
“Goodbye Hannah.”
“Bye Harry.” She said slowly smiling as she wiggled her fingers. Harry ignored her and hurried out of the apartment with Maddie’s hand in his and her suitcase in the other hand.
“Daddy why does mom want me to you about you two getting back together upfront of Louis?” Harry pulled his eyebrows together and looked at her.
“What do you mean?”
“Mom said I had to ask you about you and her getting back together as soon as we got in the car if Louis was in the passenger seat. I asked her why and she told me it doesn’t matter to just do it.”
“Oh well I’m not sure, but I would prefer it if you didn’t. It can cause some tension that I really would rather not have inside the car. Your mother and I are not getting back together and there is no reason to ask that, okay? I’m marrying Louis and we are planning to stay together for a very very very long time.”
“like a Happily Ever After long time?”
“Yes, just like that. You’re going to be at the wedding and Freddie will be there. He’s going to be the ring bearer and you’re the flower girl. You’ll have a sort of baby aunt to help walk down as well. She’s only a baby you like that idea?”
“Yes, I can help her walk and help her throw petals on the ground, right?”
“Right. But don’t tell Louis I’ve already got it all planned out he has to feel included too.” Harry said jokingly making her giggle as he tickled her, “Promise?”
“I promise it’s our little secret daddy.” Harry grinned before he noticed something.
“Where’s your coat?”
“I don’t have one…well I have one, but it stops here.” She said pointing to her mid forearm, “and it’s tight and I don’t like it.”
“I gave your mother fifty pounds last week to get you a new one.”
“She spent it on the jacket, but it doesn’t fit, and I told her it didn’t fit but it was the only one the thrift store had.”
“The thrift store I gave her fifty pounds for a winter coat. She didn’t have to- it’s fine we’ll get you two one for me and one you’ll keep at your mothers, okay?”
“Okay. Thank you, daddy.”
“You don’t need to thank me for getting you essential items like coats, but you’re welcome.” Harry pulled his phone out and ended the video making sure it had recorded the entire time before shoving it in his pocket. Once they got to the front doors, he made sure to have a good grip on her suitcase and her body as he lifted her up before he ran out into the cold making her squeal with laughter, “RUN RUN RUN RUN.” Harry said laughing as he got to the Murano and pulled it open as she giggled, “There we go all toasty. Get in your booster and buckle up.” Harry told her closing the door then hurrying to the driver seat.
“I told you to put a coat on.” Louis told him as he rubbed his arm.
“Tell me you were right later.” Harry grumbled as he pulled his phone out and set it in the little cubicle, “We have to go to a department store for Maddie to get her a coat. Does Freddie need one for winter?”
“No, I go shopping for the after-winter sales and get him a size up for the next winter. He has a coat and gloves and a hate. He’s all set for winter.”
“Smart man. I knew I was marrying you for a reason.” Louis rolled his eyes with a grin, but he leaned into the kiss Harry pressed against his cheek, “we need to talk when we get home for a few minutes about Hannah.” Harry whispered against his ear before pressing another kiss there to disguise it. Louis nodded letting him know he heard him, so Harry pulled back but kept one of his hands intertwined with Louis’ as he pulled out of the parking space.
********
Two hours later Harry and Louis were finally finished putting everything away and the kids were successfully distracted with each other and the toys, so Harry pulled Louis into his home office and pulled out his phone.
“My lawyer has always told me to record every conversation I have with Hannah as much as possible so that’s what I did. Anyway, I’m not worried about what happened inside the apartment for obvious reason what I want you to really focus on is inside the elevator, but I’ll let you see whole the video anyway.” Harry said handing the phone to Louis as he sat in the desk chair and Louis sat on his desk, his legs in his arm rest holes pulling the chair in closer making Harry grin at how cute he was. Harry didn’t pay much attention to the video, but he knew when Louis got to the part where Hannah started coming on to him more and more. He’d make a face and his hand in Harry’s hair would tighten briefly but then came to the part where Maddie asked about Hannah tell her to ask the question upfront of Louis. His eyebrows rose and he grinned as if he found it amusing and when the video ended Louis laughed sliding down to straddle Harry’s lap.
“Even if Maddison had asked that it wouldn’t have bothered me.” Louis said.
“You got upset with the florist commented about my eyes sparkling with artificial bluebells.”
“Yeah, because she was wrong.” Louis said with an eye roll, “Your eyes sparkled with the purple Ranunculus.”
“Right the flowers we never even went near.” Louis rolled his eyes with a grin as he stood up, “How could I have forgotten those.”
“Someone’s sarcastic today and I don’t know if I like it, Harold.” Louis said with his arms folded, “It might hurt my feelings.”
“No not your feelings!” Harry said in fake outrage before he quickly wrapped his arms around Louis and kissed his face multiple times until he was pushing him away and running out of the room. Harry grinned as he grabbed his phone and hurried after him only to see he had teamed up with Freddie and Maddie in the matter of three seconds and all three of them had nerf guns points at him.
“CHARGE!” Louis shouted as he ran up the stairs and they ran after him shooting at him.

This corona virus has gotten way out of hand and out of control. I mean, I’ve seen worst epidemics like the swine flu which killed way more people and not to mention your everyday which has a higher death toll just as well. I mean, do you think there’s something more to it?
I believe the panic and overreaction to it is arguably worse than the virus itself, and likely to exacerbate the spread of it. The hoarding of food and resources was considered a crime during the world wars because of the effects we're seeing now: Limited access to household necessities for others--particularly lower-income families.
Some other things I just want to get out there:
Covid-19 did not come from any Chinese cuisine, nor the presence of live animals in markets--both of those ideas tie into decades-old, racist notions of Chinese people being "dirty", or carriers of disease. While the strain in question did genetically originate from bats, the "bat soup" thing was fabricated by the media. The images used weren't from China, and they don't even eat bats in China (they're actually considered symbols of luck and good fortune).
There is no evidence that covid-19 was man-made. I had previously been misled about this myself. The idea likely spread due to the fact that there is a research lab located in Wuhan. There were no lab techs selling infected animals, either--that's just more racist nonsense.
According to residents, things are already improving in Wuhan, despite being ground zero for the infection. There is hope.
Dogs and cats cannot catch or transmit covid-19, but they can still be vectors by carrying it on their fur. Make sure to give Fido a wash.
Drinking alcohol will not help, and NEVER drink bleach!!!
Yes, you can drink beverages with ice. Temperature doesn't matter.
Things you definitely want to stock up on: Tylenol, ibuprofen, cold/flu medicine, and tissues.
MAKE FRESH SOUP. If you do end up in quarantine (or, more likely, are stuck at home due to schools and businesses closing down), you will want things to do. Cooking will take up part of your time, and will be healthier than relying on canned goods alone. Freezers will help preserve what you make, as well as your ingredients.
LEAVE THE KIDS AT HOME. When they're being released from school, it is BECAUSE they shouldn't be in areas with large amounts of people. This is NOT the time to be bringing them to the movies, shopping, or to anywhere else for that matter.
You probably won't be allowed to visit anyone in prison or nursing homes, for THEIR SAFETY. Please understand and accept this. It won't even be for that long.
Be safe, but don't be stupid. The media literally profits off of keeping people in a state of panic.

HC pt. 2
Some of these might have been on the other HC but if it is, don't worry there's is a lot of new ones.
Take this as canon to my story. Season 3 in MLB. It didn't happen but I'll acknowledge some things and change a lot. Like a lot.
Them as vines!
The only time Tim has used bruces money was to buy a hoverboard to go around the house saying whatever they had for lunch or dinner. In the simplest form of that meal.
"We are having Chestnut bisque for dinner." Tim is the first one to know and he gets to his hoverboard and gets a ladle. "We got Soup!" His hand has a motion of scoping up some soup as he rides.
Damian recording as Todd drives, singing, and blasting white girl music.
Dick was going to surprise Damian by taking him out of school for the day, his phone was already in his hand because he didn’t tell him before. He spotted Damian, just in time to see him throw Jon against the lockers.
Tim has a set of keywords that activate the law and order sound. Any speaker around him is put up in the highest setting and blast it through the air.
Ace doesn’t let Tim touch anything Damian has. For one week Tim hasn’t touched the bat computer. He’ll never forgive Ace.
Ace accidentally biting bruce’s dick. It was the first dinner with Marinette and they all wanted to make a good impression. They were all eating dinner and Bruce, mid-bite just makes a noise.
Marinette looks over and he’s looking at Damian, who was also mid-bite. "Dog.” It’s all he says, its chaos after that.
The boys scramble to look under the table. After they do, they can’t stop laughing and Marinette doesn’t move from her spot.
Okay, I want to clear this up for my self, Marinette found out that Damian was robin on accident.
Marinette and Damian didn't interact at all but he has been seen outside of school waiting for somebody. Lila had this 'grand idea' to set them up together. Alya, the 'master' setup. Dragged a delirious Marinette to Chloe's hotel.
"Come on Mari, it's a sleepover!" Marinette couldn't handle this. Just before she had texted Adrien that she was going to Chloe's place for a "sleepover". But Mari didn't believe it. It was 2300 and her 'bedtime' they knew not to bother her. She already took her medicine and it was kicking in.
Alya opened the door and shoved Marinette in, stumbling back, she fell on her butt. Looking around she saw the bathroom light on, but immediately noticed how small it was to Chloe's usual room.
Stumbling to look at her she couldn't help but drag to the bathroom. Opening the sewing kit in there and sticking a needle in her inner thigh. She woke up and carried it around.
"What did you do this time Lila." Groaning as she got up, she limped out to the foyer in time to hear someone open the window.
Turning around She found Robin, mask in hand to be Damian. Damian, on the other hand, didn't understand how this could happen. He was supposed to be alone in his hotel room. Why was Marinette here? It doesn't matter gotta 'fix' this.
At first, Damian attacked her to keep her silent but once she attacked back, they were at a stalemate.
They kept up with each other for hours.
Marinette slipped into the night, leaving him as people knocked on his door. For months, they didn't speak, nor did they meet up as their alter-egos.
Mari actively went out of her way to ignore him. She was furious at him and Damian couldn't care less about her feelings, only mad that he couldn't threaten her to keep his identity secret.
It wasn't until Nightwing talked to Mari. It wasn't until Chat Noir went to fetch him for a bad fight with an Akuma. It wasn't until Ladybug had revealed to be Marinette.
"you know, with someone having a superpower of 'Luck'. You sure make a mess of yourself."
"Whatever. You know my secret and I know yours. Do what you will with it."
They get closer once everything was resolved. Damian got better at handling people, Mari went tougher on people. Slowly falling in love, over the years.
But that's a story for another time.
Before reveal maybe year 2 to 3 italics are in English or another language if it isn’t in English, I’ll clarify
How Chat Noir and Selena first met. “Did you steal my look?” Chat grabs his tail looking her over and he dramatically throws his tail in disgust. “No kitty cat, you stole mine.”
Selena doesn’t realize that she’s been on Marinette’s roof for months. But she does notice how the same ravenette helps kids and kittens in need and sneak some snacks if they look often enough. She’s okay in her book.
The first time Marinette and Selena meet, she was on her balcony caring for her plants. Spray bottle of water on her hand, she hears a heavy ‘thump’ on her roof. Calling out Marinette points her bottle as a gun, just in case. “Chat?”
Selena pokes her head through and sees this small little girl look at her. “This was supposed to be an easy job” Confused, Marinette tilts her head slightly. “What was easy?” Marinette barely began studying English, now she’s thankful that she’s taken the subject seriously.
Marinette was about to be mugged the second time they interact. Chat Noir had been on patrol while Catwoman was on her way to another job. “Hey, there little lady.”
That stopped Catwoman in her tracks. Looking over in the opening of the alley, low and behold, there’s Marinette. Clutching her purse for dear life. Perched on the building behind the mugger is Chat Noir.
They both jump at the same time, noticing each other as they nod in understanding. Before they reach the ground, Marinette already has the mugger on the floor, groaning in pain.
Yearly road trip!
At first, it was the fair or occasional Carnival just outside of town but once the boys grew in numbers and added their interest, they started to fight who’s turn it was yearly.
When Damian joined, it was Tim’s turn and like the year before they got ready to go to another cluster of conventions in L.A. for weeks
Jason would suggest Disney world but always go to Universal Studio for Harry Potter.
Dick goes to stupid places that are weird, like the “Worlds Biggest Yarnball!” Other than that he takes pictures of food in his mouth and post it on Instagram. One moment he’s in New York City with a rainbow Bagel. The next he’s in Canada eating Timbits.
Yes, that’s an actual food item in Canada. They look like doughnut holes but better.
Go soccer baseball! (It's kickball to you, Americans.)
Anyway back to HC.
Babs doesn’t go half the time, but she always down when it’s her turn and she goes all out. Babs mostly goes for the tech conventions but once Dick, Tim, and Steph saw drone racing in Dubai.
They always went to Dubai after that. Damian thinks the drones are mini helicopters and get fascinated by them. He’ll never admit it.
They bribe Lucas to make a custom Duck boat if Lucas gets to go one time. “Y’all are white rich kids, but take me some time.”
Babs decked it out with Video games on the bilge (lower layer of the boat) while where the girls stay on top of the fantail.
They take the road trip very seriously. And literally. They drive. Everywhere.
In the open water, Babs keeps a bucket of chum to throw in the water to attract sharks. The first time it happens dick and Jason ‘freak out’ and reenact Jaws. Tim gets annoyed very quickly, he just wants to play video games. Bruce always stayed in at the wheel.
He can't choose between the boys and girls so he stays there. Once Marinette joined she switches constantly but once she's tired, she stays with bruce to nap.
Steph would go to places outside of the US for Instagram worthy food. Like Dragons Beard in China and Jiggly Cheesecake in Japan.
Cass likes to visit quiet places. Like the renovated Opera house turned Library. No one argues as much on her trip, and they enjoy the peace and scenery. Templo Expiatorio del Santisimo Sacramento, Mexico has been on her list but she always spots something else.
Marinette wants to go to Milan, Italy for Fashion week but she doesn’t plan the trip, the rest of the batfam does. They get her to spill where she would go if she ever got the chance.
They also don't tell her until they show up at the Bakery doorsteps. Honking in a custom Duck Boat, there's Dick Grayson, hanging out of the side yelling “Get in loser we’re going shopping.”
"THE BoWlS MARI. THE BOWLS!!"
"I won't even attempt to try this much effort with anyone else, just marry me instead, Mari. Don't let me indulge to stand another second of insufferable humans." This is how Damian proposes.
Damian having a mild innocence.
Like not knowing what tampons or pads are used for, and asking Bruce about it. Bruce panics for a solid minute before answering. "I'll tell you later." He doesn't.
Jason and dick don't think it's true so they tease him. Dick tried to be subtle by saying Steph was on 'her time of the month.' Jason bulldozed through saying she was stocking up on tampons.
"What are tampons used for." They tell him it's to cover women's vagina. He'll never admit to them that he thought they were to cover battle wounds.
Damian is very weirded when he finds out that Dick or his father having sex with a stranger.
"You're not supposed to do that." Is his immediate thought.
"Dick, stop having sex with her if you don't plan on marrying her!"
Damian promptly leaves the room. "Where are you going little D?”
Stomping away, "To plan a wedding." He slams the door.
The first time Marinette tries to cuddle Damian, he freaks out.
"Woah, Angel, wait till marriage." Marinette just looks at him confused.
"What do you mean???? This is perfectly fine before marriage."
"Not in my culture!"
Jason and Dick weren't afraid of Marinette before. But ever since 'the Kitchen™" incident' they haven't walked in when she visits.
The Kitchen™ incident as followed.
Sleep-deprived Mari! & Tim! Mari still had ingredients out, she was making coffee cake for them since Tim asked for some "fre sh a voca do" for their desert.
M: Could you put the Ingredients away?
T: What dog? When did we get the dogs in here?
M: What?
T: Did you not say dog?
M: I thought you said you wanted to eat a dick.
T: What?! Mari I don't eat ass.
They were surrounding the island, both were crouched
M: You're not getting my milk.
Tim was moving his arms around and flipped over the island and grabbed the milk, he ran out with Mari following him.
M: No my MALK!!
Damian walked in much later to see where Mari was.
T: Do you know the muffin man?
D: The Muffin Man?
T: The Muffin man
Mari left to find Dami and heard that as she was coming in.
M: Shes married the muffin man.
Damian promptly forgot why he wanted to find her in the first place and leaves. Just silently going "wtf"
They would laugh so much they laid down on the floor, once the timer beeped, Marinette stumbled her way to the oven, accidentally stepping on Tim as well.
Why do they do that?! Both dick and Jason didn't wanna witness any more of this weirdness.
Every time, anybody in the bat fam is hurt, there is a speaker nearby with the CoD 1 zombie 'Game over' soundtrack. Ready to play. It's why common crooks stop hurting them because they can't escape the sound.
Tim did it on accident because he was sleep-deprived but he just kept the algorithm.
His usual response when attacks don't hurt him is. "Mothertrucker dude, that hurt like a buttcheek on a stick"
Jason and Tim mess with Penguin, once penguin caught on that they were only attacking at dusk. He started calling them Dusk Boys™.
"God damn dusk boys. Get off my lawn!"
Mariette witnesses it and coined the term, "Dusking it up." whenever someone was a little shit.
Damian got a kazoo one day, someone 'gave' it to him as they ran away. "It's a social experiment!" More like throwing it in his face. Once he got home he played it. Marinette was visiting for a while.
He showed her first and Tim was with her in the living room, eating cake. After he played it, they both went batshit crazy. Once they aren't sleep deprived, Damian 'serenades' Mari with the kazoo. It's during the next patrol and its right after they beat up another criminal.
She was very surprised and so was everybody else. 1 they are usually so profession about this and not announcing their presence or joking around. It's why she got so much done with him.
2 She kind of enjoyed it???
Marinette finds herself in Dick.
Since everyone went to the pair to vent or find advice. Marinette sees them struggling and slows down with them. Taking things from scratch, be it subjects they struggle with or talking about people.
Dick can relate because not everyone is willing to talk to others besides Dick. They share tips on how to help. Mari gets ideas on how to talk to others about self-love and dick gets advice that he is doing all he can and more.
Jason and Mari patrol together and spar together too often. Like when they both don’t want to hold back. Afterward, they get ice cream.
Mari never takes credit because she doesn't want to seem like a brat. But she also doesn't want to turn people down because she loves to help.
So she does her work, invites them in and hangs out with them and doesn't shut them out. She sets a group chat for people struggling in math and science. She also has a weekly get together for emotional support, "It doesn't matter what it is, just say it!" She invites Chloe one time and they have deep conversations about family issues and attitude issues.
Monthly shows.
Mari, Adrien, and Dick sing (ABBA) and dress up, they just call it a show. But once Mari does parkour and acrobatic moves they go on the tightrope.
She doesn't push dick and always uses the net, once dick explains why he didn't want to go in the first place. They take it slow. Explaining moves on the ground and different verbal signals to call out for a new movie or stop.
"I played you like the cheap Kazoo you are." Damian when he gets played by Mari in a game. It was Risk.
They are all instruments. Every single one of them. But their price is on a very wide range. It all depends on their mood.
Some are cooking supplies. "What a tool." No one in the mlb crew likes it.

Time to hold China accountable.
Tumblr media
As the internet brought the world closer together, international logistics connected the dots between supply and markets to create an intricate network of global business transactions. A new world order of commerce has taken shape whether we like it or not.
The abundance of lower cost-of-labor goods and materials, and the freedom to operate in less regulated countries has driven major manufacturing from the west to offshore operations in Asia and other parts of the world.
China has been the single largest benefactor of this evolution and has done so by implementing aggressive tactics that at first, appear favorable to foreign companies to operate in the country. The caveat to this favorable business environment is the Chinese policy requiring mandatory local ownership, leveraging the company’s proprietary technologies while pushing other countries to open their markets for tax free Chinese goods.   The American public has remained blissfully unaware of the potential vulnerabilities of this new world order as they continue to fill their carts with cheap merchandise from their local major box stores, pharmacies and supermarkets.
The outbreak and spread of Corona virus (Covid-19) and its impact on the world’s economies has exposed the weaknesses of this new world order. In trying to control the spread of this disease, America now finds itself facing a shortage of pharmaceutical and medical products that are urgently needed during this current heath crisis.
The United States remains the global leader in drug research and development. However, about 60 percent of factories manufacturing drug ingredients and finished medicines for U.S. patients are located overseas, with China and India accounting for 40 percent. Chinese pharmaceutical companies now supply more than 90 percent of U.S. antibiotics, vitamin C, ibuprofen, hydrocortisone, and other medicines as well as 70 percent of acetaminophen.
For the past two decades, China has well taken advantage of these new opportunities for commerce to become the second largest economy in world.  However, with this success, the Chinese government has ignored or refused to engage in human rights, implement or maintain consumer safety policies or environmental stewardship.  China has often exported tainted food and pharmaceutical products with little to no accountability.
The China One policy advocated by its President Xi Jinping to bring all of China under a single leader is about world dominance thru consolidation of power and economic dependencies.  The Chinese have used their amassed wealth from trade to push an agenda of territorial expansion and geopolitical influence in developing nations. They are leveraging massive loans to many small, developing nations to secure territorial assets and increase their military footprint. These countries, when they can’t afford to repay these loans become captive to Chinese policies.
The current Chinese Authoritarian Government, President Xi Jinping can dictate how they spend their national wealth and implement programs with great speed to achieve their objectives. They are in control of 1.2 billion people’s minds with their message.  China is experiencing viral health crisis, but authorities are more focused on managing political damage and controlling the perception of their masses, in order to divert attention away from any potential uprising within the country.  Their most recent propaganda informs the Chinese people that the U.S Military developed and spread the virus in China.  The Chinese Government is nervous and acutely aware that the recent unrest in Hong Kong will resurface once the pandemic begins to wane.
As of this writing, the Chinese government has refused to allow the CDC into the country and has ignored offers of assistance from the WHO to conduct onsite investigations.  In an article published last week in Xinhua, the state-run media agency, was the claim that China could impose pharmaceutical export controls on America at its discretion.  This threat highlights the actual control China has on the world’s supply chain and what they may be willing to do.  This is the new norm when it comes to China’s economic and military strategies. To suffocate nations with economic and/or geopolitical leverage where their native populations become rebellious to their own governments. China is a master of this craft after many years of well-oiled communist ideology.
To date, there are over 132,000 confirmed cases and over 5000 deaths worldwide from the Covid-19 virus that originated in Wuhan, China.  As these numbers continue to grow for the foreseeable future, the world’s governments have not yet come out to address liability for this pandemic. The official name of this specific virus is SARS-CoV-2 and the disease it causes is the Coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.  Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that are common within humans and various different species of animals, including camels, cattle, cats, dogs and bats.
Trillions of dollars and thousands of lives are now being lost in this new world order and China should be held accountable.  This pandemic originated in the local Wuhan street markets where vendors sell raw meat, much of it tainted, from a variety of animals in unsanitary conditions. The practice of selling live animals such as dogs, cats and rats at these markets is prevalent throughout the country. The poor or non-existent sanitary conditions are perfect for incubating many diseases.  The world has witnessed several pandemics originating from China, including, the Hong Kong Flu, Russian Flu and more recently the SARs virus.   China has done very little to address the health and well-being of their own people with no consideration to the worldwide effects that result from their lack of action.
The Chinese authorities’ focus is on economic growth over consumer safety, comes at a steep cost to the rest of the world.  In America and many other countries, businesses must comply with compulsory safety standards and are held accountable for their actions.  There is a substantial cost to business to maintain compliance and abide by rules and regulations, knowing what the consequences might be if they fail to do so. China has side-stepped many of these requirements without penalty or serious consequences.  The Chinese one-party authoritarian government is notorious for maintaining total control over their industries and people.  But why have they neglected basic food safety standards?
The Chinese are masters at copying and counterfeiting manufactured products from the United States in an effort compete with America on the world market. They avoid regulations and compliance over dominance and profits. To this end, they do not accept the responsibility to safeguard the food, medicine or product safety for their own people.  This negligence and its resulting effects on the population has now traveled outside of China and the whole world is at risk of economic and social collapse from this outbreak.
The United States and others must now hold accountable the government of China and the people responsible for this crisis. The world’s response to China should be an economic “shot-across-the-bow” to reconsider its current policies. A warning that you can’t reap the benefits economic development at the cost of humanity.  To do so, invites economic or criminal   retribution to those responsible.  Governments that fail to manage their economic development and social responsibilities should be restricted from participating in the world’s markets as responsible countries do.  There needs to be serious penalties in place to reign in and force retribution to those countries and individuals that do not comply with established health, safety and environmental practices and regulations
This should also be a clarion call for consumers who have increasingly relied on cheap “Made in China” goods for the past twenty plus years, at the risk of losing our local industries, skills and know-how.  We are now relying not only on trinkets from China but many of our life-saving medicines.
The World should react to this pandemic as a crime against humanity. The message sent to China should be that they owe the world compensation for losses incurred from their violations and neglect of basic human rights and principles.  In the interim, the depletion of our national reserves and additional expense resulting from the Corona virus will need to be compensated and this compensation should come from a “Corona tax” levied against all Chinese imported products. While this action will certainly meet with some resistance from consumers for increased prices, it will also force the Chinese to reconsider their current actions in ignoring basic principles in the health and welfare of their own and the world’s citizens.  The immediate and long-term security for the United States can only be assured by rebuilding the country’s manufacturing infrastructure and reducing our dependence of foreign imports.

Never Far Away - Chapter Seven
Prologue | One | Two | Three | Four | Five | Six | x
She Was Always Shining
Sesshomaru stared at the blank wall in front of him, the many paintings that once decorated the elaborate, crepe-wallpaper were strewn across the ground in shattered wooden frames and shards of glass. In a fit of rage and a remembrance of his ward, he had saw the beauty in them and found the pieces annoying—hence he rid his presence of them. After five minutes of calming, he found himself in the wrong and realized that he had destroyed several priceless and original works from the Renaissance and the Romanticism eras. A sigh gusted past his lips as he walked around the sofas to pick up the broken frames; a small breath of relief soothed him when he realized that the artworks themselves had not been damaged. Taking two at a time, began the tedious process of moving the works to his study. Once he had properly cleaned the major mess in the living area, he set about sweeping up the splinters into a dustpan before disposing of them. If he injured himself later due a carelessness, he would only anger himself more. Returning to his office, he rolled the paintings into loose spirals so the colors of the images would be preserved. He would find proper encasement for them at a later date.
Grabbing his coat from his chair, the Goblin brushed past the door and appeared into a small alleyway hidden between two storefronts in Central Tokyo. With an irritated wave of his hand, he dispelled the remaining tendrils of smoke that came with his teleportation. It wouldn’t do to make someone suspicious or cautious by accident. While centuries had given him patience and a more mellow attitude, he did not wish for human quibbling as to why there was smoke smoldering from his shoulders. That would grate his nerves. Best avoid that.
The city rumbled in a flamboyant array of cacophonic noise from people, machines, and a myriad of other things. Edging against his hearing, the sounds began to agitate Sesshomaru’s ears but he endured. He had run out of groceries and being that his Goblin body demanded food, he was enslaved to search. While food from fancy restaurants pleased him—and the wealth that he had accumulated over the years more than well sufficed as payments for him to indulge in such places—he found it much more pleasant when he cooked for himself. There was some sort of pride in the accomplishment that he cooked better than any Michelin star chef and restaurant. His ego practically swelled at that idea. So the trip to the market became necessary every other week.
In the many, many years that he had to himself, Sesshomaru found that he enjoyed such mundane things. At times he dared not even consume human food, the very thoughts had once repulsed him. But as centuries rolled by and the effects his human-ish immortality became more and more apparent, he found things such as cooking and walking helped the days more. It was often that he would take hikes into the mountain and allow the remains of his youkai youki to roam wild while his Goblin’s youki would spread and branch out just as widely. The fresh air of the forest and the quietness that came with the solitude of the mountains relieved him. It was almost as if he could close his eyes and fly back to simpler days where all he cared about was conquest and maintaining the House of the West. Of watching a little girl prance around an irritated imp. Of watching the daily lives of others with regality and indifference. Indifference and an eternal sense of distaste had always been his. But now, he found himself more sincere and dare he say sympathetic to the wanderers around him. Their lives were too short and difficult for one so misfortuned as he to ignore.
In reality, he should have been bitter. Angry that the mortals, and even the few remaining youkai had ends to their lives while he was cursed to live on until he ended of his curse. But instead there had been a rather sharp turn in his outlook to life, no doubt an effect of the passing of his ward and the guidance of his heir.
Speaking of the idiotic kit, his head tilted back and he closed his eyes, letting the sunlight stream through the hairs brushing his forehead. I wonder what he is up to. He has not come visit me in quite some time, nor this one him. This Sesshomaru has not seen the brat since I had lived on the mainland for some time in China...That was such a long time ago.
With a shake of his head, he shrugged and continued his way to the supermarket. No doubt his curiosity will surpass his busyness and he will find some time to annoy me. The company would not be too ill disposed, though, I suppose.
Curiosity.
His mind suddenly turned in a different direct and began to analyze the fact that the miko from his youth stood in time with him. Not old. Not some hag. Not even cursed like he. She lived, breathed, walked, talked, and even looked exactly the same as when she had with her travels beside his half-brother. He knew she had been a unique, existing as a reincarnation in a time only fifty years after her predecessor’s death, but other than her surprisingly strong reiki, he had not expected much else from her. Especially since given her garb at the time, he would have considered her a tramp—however the modern era had educated him with the knowledge that almost all school girls wore such uniforms. Her attire aside, she should not be running around in the 21st century, period. A sigh escaped his lips. She baffled him. And things that baffled him agitated him to no end.
He had already commanded her to not summon him again (the fact that she could upset him greatly) but given what he could remember of her from back in the days, she was hard pressed to obey anything anyone told her to do. She had a fierce spirit, he had to give her that.
As he thought about her, he realized that he could recollect quite a few things about the miko. Not that he particularly cared about anyone in Inuyasha’s group, he could remember all of them nonetheless to some extent because they were pack. But the girl...her name, Kagome, perhaps? Anyways, the girl, it seemed that each moment encountered shined in some way or another because she was always brilliant. She had always been surrounded by a gentle, dazzling aura. Whenever she interfered, he had been enraged at how such a human could have such a light surrounding them. But now he felt inclined to believe that it was that very light around her that made her specially granted here in this time. He did not doubt that he would discover soon just why she was here. The girl had always been inclined to run her mouth faster than she could shoot her holy arrows, so he figured when he saw her again—and he knew he would—he would inquire just as to exactly how she survived time’s ravages and ended up in modern day Japan.
But for now, he would focus on which bell-peppers he would cook with his fillet mignon.
He gathered into his arms a small carrier basket for his groceries and proceeded to drift in and out of the grocery store aisles with silence and poise. Not that he tried to, but that had always been his strong suit. Looking magnificent. From where he stood in the produce section, he could feel the stares of both women and men alike, and his ego preened. Perhaps this was another reason why he had come to enjoy partaking in more public human activities, there was always someone to feed the ego that burned inside him.
His nose sniffed, and he began searching for the best vegetables to serve with his meal. While many of his Inu powers had gone or decreased, some of them stayed with him—his strength, sense of smell, heightened hearing, and even to a degree his sight. However the spiritual and supernatural powers such as his poison whip, the youki cloud, and the thing that made him Inu (the great Dog that once raged inside him) were all gone. He rued their absence. He found himself constantly missing them.
His hand picked through the piles of sweet potatoes, searching for the freshest of the roots, and found himself pleased with three. He continued on, searching for sweet apples and raisins. He decided he would make a risotto with sweet potatoes, raisins and sweet apples, as well as a carrot and shredded napa cabbage for the sides to his dinner. With a quick nod at his final decision on food, he carried on to find his ingredients; caution and meticulous care marked every pick he made, searching for only the freshest of items. Half an hour later with a full basket of red meat, and crisp vegetables, Sesshomaru made his way to the cashier and paid for his items.
He walked to the swinging doors and prefered that he should just teleport home to keep his items fresh and chilled. As he walked to the sliding double doors, a peculiar tingling sensation overwhelmed him. Something was pulling at his senses, tugging him elsewhere. The moment his foot stepped over the metal threshold, a power took over him, and twists and twirls of lilac smoke pulled from his body. His powers were being used without his will. In the amount of time it took him to blink and reassess the situation, he had already been summoned away from the grocery store. He found himself, both hands burdened with food-filled brown bags, in a very pink room with a very pleased looking miko. With a sigh, the Goblin rolled his eyes. He knew at some point or another, he would see the miko soon, but honestly—this girl and her bright aura had the worst timing.
