Chronivac Coworkers
--- Originally posted on 2022-09-19 by davidrodge ---
You sit down at your desk and rub your eyes. Another day of paper pushing and number crunching to get through. It wasn’t like you had done anything particularly interesting the previous night. You had stayed up a little later playing some mediocre matches of online gaming - but when I guess when you get to be around 40, your body constantly feels like it’s been dragged behind a car down the high way. Not that you didn’t take care of yourself, in fact you’d say you looked pretty good for your age…

You stretch in your seat, and reach for your coffee as your computer powers on. The few windows illuminating the office show the first few morning beams of scorching July sunlight. Behind you, the door opens and your Coworker David strides in.
“Morning Adam!” He says in a strangely cheerful voice. You put your coffee down from your lips and give him a stare. Normally David was about 20 minutes later than he already was, and usually he walked into the office with the same enthusiasm you’d see in a man walking towards a guillotine.
“Morning Davo,” you say, typing in your far too long corporate password. “You seem less Zombie-like today, what are you so excited about?”
David Smiled as he sat down in his chair opposite from yours. You were techniqually Davids senior Manager, but the two of you had developed a decent friendship between Friday drinking and the occasional tennis match.
“Oh Nothing Adam, I just got to the top of the waitlist for this super cool Software, and I was finally able to download it!”
You nodded, half listening as you began logging into all your engineering system.
“Very Interesting, what’s the program called? Is it like a Gaming platform?” David opened up his laptop and started to type furiously.
“No it’s not a game at all, It’s an app called the Chronivac. It’s supposed to be a reality altering software. I had a friend in the UK that sent me the information for it, He said that it completely changed his life.”
You paused from your coffee long enough to lean over and roll your eyes at him.
“I hope you didn’t have to pay any money for it.” You moaned, “This Job doesn’t pay you enough for you to be wasting your time on Overseas Scams.”
David was absolutely transfixed on his laptop. A wide, slightly crazed looking grin spreading over his face.
“It actually ended up costing me thousands of dollars,” he said, now in a far quieter voice, “but it was completely worth it.”
“THousands Of DoLLARS!” You exploded, immediately turning the heads of the fellow desk jockeys nearby,
“SHut UP man,” David hissed, half closing his laptop defensively. You simmered as the both of you waited for the rest of your colleagues to return back to their work. David narrowed his Eyes at you, smile creeping back onto his face.
“It wasn’t a waste of money and I can prove it too you. Just let me find your profile really quick.”
“Wait, this thing has a profile for me on it?” You said, now even more concerned then before. “David, This seems like some really dangerous software And I definitely thing that you shou-“
Davids Computer cut you off with a cheerful beep, and immediately you felt a strange sensation course through your body.
“What the hell!” You shout as you start the world around you starts to grow. You feel a strange tightening sensation in your body, as you glance downward. Your clothing seemed to liquify, shifting from a smart suit and dress shirt into a casual tee. In shock you glance at the bay window and catch a reflection of yourself. There you were…. Or rather, there you were 20 years ago! You lift your hands up too your face and feel your skin. Wrinkle free, young, and real!

“ there’s no way this is real,” you say in a whisper. This has to be a dream you think, as you continue to explore your now unfamiliar body.
David leaned over the edge of his desk beaming,
“ See I told you man! This program is incredible!” He looked you over, seeming to be proud of his work. “Dang it’s crazy what taking 20 years off a man can do!”
You take a brief pause from reveling at your new found youth.
“ this is incredible David! How is this even possible?!”
“It’s the chronivac man! Like I said it’s freaking amazing and can change anything!” The wild grin still fresh on his face.
You stand up, coursing with a newfound energy.
“WE HAVE TO TELL EVERYONE ABOUT THIS!” You say ecstatically. The grin drops from David’s face.
“What?”
You begin to jog away from the desks, heading straight for the break room where you knew, most of your coworkers would still be gathered.
“We can change anything with this! This is going to be the coolest thing any of these morons have ever heard about!”
“Wait! No stop! Aww shit-“ you hear David shout as you continued running. You barely processed his voice or cared. You felt so alive! The excitement in your chest was all you could feel or even think of right now. You slid around the corner, breaking into a sprint down the hallway. You could hardly wait to introduce your new younger self to your coworkers and tell them about this amazing new device.
“GUYS, YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO-“
Suddenly your voice catches In your throat, as your mouth dries out In an instant. You keep running, starting to trip over yourself on the concrete floor.
“ what the” you gasp through a dry mouth. Your tongue feels like a pillow in your mouth as you tumble to the floor. You are vaguely aware of the sight of your hands, which appear to be changing color and texture. Your vision fades with the sight of your fingers turning bright blue and seeming to collapse in on themselves.
You can’t seem to find your voice, or be able to move as you feel yourself shrinking. You feel an indescribable softening sensation on all sides as you slide to a stop. Suddenly, it’s over as quickly as it started, and there you lay on the floor. Your brain slows down, filled only with the most basic thoughts now.
“ what….. happened…” you think to yourself with great effort. Your aware of footsteps coming towards you from your position on the floor.
“ Sorry about that man, I just couldn’t have you sharing my new toy with the rest of the world. It’s kind of like a private club, ya know?
….David? You think through fuzzy thoughts.
“ I’m still learning how to use the program haha, but you did turn out to be a nice pair of underwear Adam.”

You feel your now small form being lifted from the floor, then shoved into a pocket. David’s pocket.
“Don’t worry man, we’ll get you sorted out. I think you’ll make a really good practice for me before I start changing myself.”
You couldn’t respond at all, but felt almost at home In the musky warm pocket you were haphazardly shoved into.
….so … nice… you find yourself thinking. You try to shake the fuzz out of your primitive mind. Trying to remember anything besides the new world you found yourself in. You faintly hear David through his clothing.
“ alright, I think the first thing we should do is get you home so we can have some fun.” You feel yourself being lifted from his pocket and placed back on the ground. You felt a longing to be back in the warm musky dark.
“this time however, I think we’ll turn your awareness off.”
David smiled punching his new specifications into the chronivac program. Adam wouldn’t remember any of what just happened, and also be open to his suggestions. The underwear on the pavement started to expand, shifting and changing until Adam once again stood in front of him with a slightly dazed look on his face.
“is it weird that that kind of turned me on…” David muttered to himself.
“Dave… what the hell is going on? Adam said In a bewildered voice. His voice echoed in the parking garage that they now stood in. David smiled, and typed into the chronivac.
“you were about to give me a ride home, remember big guy?”
Adam, still looking confused, but seemingly unaware of the last 20 minutes of his life shrugged and fished for his car keys.
“Alright man but don’t judge about the mess in my car.” He smiled and clicked his horn. The two of you walked over to the old SUV Adam drove and stepped inside, scooting aside the old take out bags and random junk. Adam sheepishly got In and fastened his seatbelt.
“Thanks for taking me home man, I wasn’t feeling the best.” David said hiding a smile while still typing in his computer. Adam started the car and began to pull out of the parking lot.
“no problem man, it’s been a boring day for me anyway.”
I’m sure it was… David thought pulling up Adams profile again. David pulled up Adams profile. He continued to explore it as they got on the highway - passing the braves stadium. Now it was time to really see what this program could do. He clicked on the occupation section and replaced senior engineer with Uber driver and hit enter. The cars interior suddenly shifted, quickly becoming neater and tidier. An Uber sticker appeared on the windshield. David smiled and Adam glanced over at him.
“Hey you owe me tho David,” he smiled “I could be making money right now instead of driving your ass around.”
“for sure man, I’ll make it up to you.” David grinned. He clicked onto Adams body specifications.
Alright let’s slide that age way down… maybe 22? He looked good like that, but let’s pump up his muscle mass by 80 pounds and increase his attractiveness level. David pulled open Adams identity profile and messed around with a few things. Instead of being a work friend, Adams new relationship to David was a complete stranger. David deleted Adams previous educational experience tab and input college fraternity brother into his profile. He dropped the IQ level down to one of the lower settings. It might be nice for Adam to worry about less right? He input “easygoing” into his profile. He hit shuffle on race, just for some added fun and eagerly hit enter.
the change was immediate. Adam shifted in his seat, losing a few inches of height but gaining a ridiculous amount of mass everywhere. His legs filled in his pants so quickly David thought they might burst. His arms ballooned outwards and his face shifted to a cocky smirk. His pecs jutted out against his shirt, bouncing with the cars motion. The clothes he previously wore liquified and stretched tight against his body - becoming a simple tee shirt and short shorts. His hair styled itself into a skin fade, and a tan crept over his body. A backwards cap materialized on his head, and a stud In his ear as he glanced over at David.
“What? You like what you see man haha?”
The new Adam raised his arm and flexed his now massive bicep.
You both laughed as you felt a mixture of pride and arousal. Adam put a beefy arm on the dash of his car and started typing into the gps, stopping at an intersection .
“Where was it you said you wanted to be dropped off again sir?”
David rattled off his address, trying to hide the growing… excitement that was beginning to show In his crotch. The new Adam glanced down and smirked at David, but continued driving. David smiled, reviewing Adams profile again.
“ So what do you have going on in your life… Adam right?” David asked, trying for conversation with his previous boss.
“We’ll I’m just chilling at the university right now…” Adam said with a dull laugh, “spending a lot of time at the gym and with the boys right now.”
David nodded absentmindedly, sliding Adams sexuality to nearly 100 Percent gay. Just to see what would happen. He slid the Libido curser to high and glanced back up at Adam. A distracted look now plastered on his face, one hand on the wheel, one hand now migrating down to his shorts.
“… and you know… spending time… with the boys.”
David could barely contain his excitement as the two pulled up to his house. Adam threw the vehicle in park and shifted his Adonis frame in his seat to face David.
“Hey man, don’t even worry about the ride today, it was nice meeting you. I’ll void the bill In the app.” He said with a smile. David met his gaze and blushed. Oh my god, was he flexing?
“Oh that’s really too nice of you man, there’s really no need.” David stuttered
Adam smiled and bit his lip, he hopped out of the car to get David’s door.
“No I insist. I Really enjoyed being your driver today.”
David stepped out of the car, amazed by what he had been able to do to his friend. The new Adam held out his hand for a solid high five. He winked and said,
“Message me if you ever need a ride again bro.” With that, he strutted back to his car, then got in and sped down the road - blasting music.
David stood on the edge of the driveway. Clutching his lap top and trying to calm himself. He began to stride into his house, weighing his options. People had warned him, that the chronivacs power could really go to your head if you didn’t have a handle on it. He unlocked the door and paced into his living room. David hadn’t thought much about it, but man had he really surprised himself. In the space of 1 hour he had changed his boss into a horny college himbo without so much as a blink.
He through himself onto the couch and started up at the ceiling. David smiled, thinking of the limitless possibilities that now awaited him. He could literally become whatever he wanted to. Could change the world in whatever way he wanted. The possibilities were so endless p, he had no idea what to do.
After a moment of watching the rotating fan David grinned. He didn’t know all the things he wanted to change, but he did know what he wanted right now. He pulled his laptop back up and fired up the chronivac. Adams profile still displayed on screen. David clicked into Adams relationship status and began clicking around. It took a second to find the option, “willing to sleep with any man.” But David aggressively slammed the enter button and pulled out his phone, finding an Uber text string with the new Adam.
“Thanks again for the free ride today man. Was wondering if you wanted to ride anything else tonight? 😘🍆”
He waited breathlessly for a moment before three dots appeared on his screen, and then a message. Apparently a picture the new Adam had taken at the gym.
“on my way back big guy”
David slammed his laptop closed and ran to change into some more relaxed clothes. That was enough messing with the chronivac for the day. It was amazing what a horny stud he had been able to change his boss into. And ridiculous how quickly David had fallen for him.
David wrestled with his tie and glanced out the bedroom window as a car raced up. The new and improved Adam jumped out and started sauntering towards the door, already removing his shirt. David could only stares as he felt himself begin to go hard. He and Adam were going to have a lot of fun tonight.

Touching is Good: A Retrospective
My trusty Nintendo 3DS, which has held out since I was gifted it for my 15th birthday, has turned one decade old with my 25th birthday this past November. Given new life with custom firmware and nds-bootstrap via TWiLightMenu, the 3DS is stellar for visiting any past handheld title or console title up to (and somewhat including) the N64. (Quick plug for the CFW/hacking community for the less popular PS Vita, too, which has accomplished some pretty crazy-cool stuff this last year.) I use my 3DS more often than I use my Nintendo Switch most weeks.
The Nintendo DS (minus the three) launched in late 2004. The second display and stylus support were novel tools for developers to experiment with, and the NDS is best remembered for its robust catalogue of RPGs and visual novels. Where it lacked in power, narrative-focused games flourished under its technical limitations.
That being said, while browsing the ROM archives on Vimm's Lair to pick up some titles, I was reminded of what an interesting era the mid-to-late 2000s were for games. While Sony and Microsoft were fighting over the "core gamer" demographic, who had outgrown Nintendo mascots, Nintendo led a series of wildly successful marketing campaigns for its hardware after the light failure of the Gamecube, where the Nintendo DS and then the Wii were targeted at...everyone else.

[Image source. Image description in alt text.]
If you look at ads for the DS and the Wii, you'll see that adults are featured much more prominently than children, especially women and seniors. (This did not go unnoticed, as I found this ancient relic of misogyny while looking for images for this post.) A Nintendo handheld was already an easy sell to parents with small children (though I think it's also notable that ads which do focus on children often prominently feature girls. Munchlax is pretty hot...), but Nintendo's angle for the DS and Wii was that their hardware wasn't just for children. The Wii was a way to get up off the couch and to play board games with grandma. The DS was a great gadget for a working woman to keep in her pocketbook.
This worked. The Wii and DS were two of the best-selling consoles of all time. In particular, the DS's marketing campaign only worked because it came out in the perfect window of time. PDA-phone hybrids had been around since the 90s, and the Blackberry had been kicking around for a few years, but the iPhone wouldn't be introduced until 2007, and the 4G LTE standard wouldn't be released until 2009. While the Blackberry was popular with businesspeople and the PDA was out of style, smartphones were luxury toys for several years; they wouldn't become near-ubiquious until the mid-2010s. I didn't get my own smartphone until probably around the same time I got my 3DS, a full handheld generation later.
Browsing the software library for the Nintendo DS and DSi with that in mind is really interesting. Many titles released for the platform serve the same purposes that would be fulfilled by simple smartphone apps less than a decade later: planners and diaries, fitness trackers, calculators, language learning and SAT prep software, even a guide to the then-most-recent version of the driver's test in the UK. These proliferated with the release of the DSi's virtual store, but they existed even with the base model. You could go to a brick-and-mortar store and buy them on physical cartridges. (You might be wondering, "Why would you bother carrying those around over just buying a Blackberry?" You can't underestimate how expensive the service bills for a smartphone were before companies realized they were the most powerful spyware tool in history.)
There was never a time where every single businesswoman in New York carried a DS Lite, but adults did buy and use them, and a not insignificant portion of the DS's software library is aimed at a casual adult audience. Another niche covered mostly by smartphone games these days—games designed to be picked up and played in short sessions on-the-go, in places like waiting rooms and subway commutes.
Nintendo made crazy bank in the seventh console generation. Publications of the time talked about a console war between Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo, but the real battle was between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 over the gamer demographic. Nintendo was producing hardware for a niche who would quietly disappear once smartphone sales began ballooning by hundreds of millions per year over the course of the early 2010s.
After the failure of the Wii U, Nintendo's marketing strategy pivoted again, though I doubt they'll ever completely abandon their family-friendly image. Currently beat out only by the PS2 and the DS, the Nintendo Switch may very well climb to a status as the best-selling console of all time before the end of its lifespan, but the "gamer" demographic is much bigger than it was two decades ago at the dawn of the DS. As more and more devices become consolidated into the Swiss army knife the smartphone has become, consoles can only carve out a role as dedicated gaming machines.
I'm not sure we'll ever see anything like the Nintendo DS or the Wii again. I think they're worth looking back on for their uniqueness in that way as much as they are for the more celebrated parts of their libraries.
#mine#this is the first in a series of posts i have in mind on this general subject. my next one will be more entertaining i think.

The @NHSEngland landmark decision to stop using puberty blockers for gender dysphoric youth raises a key question: what do we know about the effects of puberty blockers on adolescent development?
Prof. Sallie Baxendale explored this question at @segm_ebm 2023 conference.
"Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary evidence" wrote Prof. Baxendale in a piece describing her research. "The only extraordinary evidence here is the gaping chasm of knowledge, or even apparent curiosity, of the clinicians who continue to chant 'safe and completely reversible' as they prescribe these medications to the children in their care."
Following the preview of her research at @segm_ebm conference, Prof. Baxendale published her findings about the known effects of puberty blockers on neuropsychological function in a peer-reviewed journal.
Prof. Baxendale later shared that in her 3 decades of academic publishing, the submission of the paper was truly a unique experience. She was not concerned that the paper had been rejected 3 times prior to being accepted. Rather, it was the nature of the rejections, which appeared to be ideologically driven.
Dr. Baxendale's full presentation at @segm_ebm NYC 2023 conference is available below. We will also highlight some key moments in the rest of this thread.
[ Note: video above ]
Dr. Baxendale explores what happens when critical windows of brain development are missed, starting with her "surprise" at the assertion made by proponents of youth transitions that puberty blockers are "completely reversible."
Prof. Baxendale challenges the claim that puberty can be paused & resumed: “If you deprive the brain of any input during the critical windows of opportunity, the brain will move on and whatever it was that was supposed to be developing, doesn't develop properly.”
The process of pruning in the brain, which occurs during adolescence, is critical. It strengthens the executive function & social cognition. This process is hormonally driven: it depends on the pubertal stage, not on age. When puberty is stopped, brain development is affected.
Prof. Baxendale's research was motivated by her surprise at the assertions by gender clinicians that "one can just pause puberty and then pick up 2-3 years later and nothing would happen," as this contradicted "everything we know about other windows of opportunity."
Dr. Baxendale found a paucity of studies on the effects of puberty blockers on human brains, so she turned to animal studies. What she found was that puberty blockers have “a detrimental impact on learning and the development of social behaviors and responses to stress."
Turning her attention to human studies, Prof. Baxendale found very few. Two studies were for the use of puberty blockers for early-onset puberty, and 3 were about stopping normally-timed puberty for gender-dysphoric youth. Several (low quality) studies signaled a drop in IQ.
Dr. Baxendale found no evidence that “you can pause a developmental stage and then restart it and everything will be okay.” Given all that is known about adolescent brain development, Dr. Baxendale asked a key question:
“How has this been allowed to develop as a treatment?”
The @NHSEngland's decision to restrict the use of puberty blockers to clinical research, finalized this month, vindicates Prof. Baxendale, Dr. Biggs, and other researchers in the UK and worldwide who have been sounding the alarm about the proliferation of puberty blockers in general medical settings without an adequate evidence base.
The full lecture by Prof. Baxendale at SEGM's NYC 2023 conference is profiled on our website and our YouTube channel. See links below.

Abstract
Aim: Concerns have been raised regarding the impact of medications that interrupt puberty, given the magnitude and complexity of changes that occur in brain function and structure during this sensitive window of neurodevelopment. This review examines the literature on the impact of pubertal suppression on cognitive and behavioural function in animals and humans.
Methods: All studies reporting cognitive impacts of treatment with GnRH agonists/antagonists for pubertal suppression in animals or humans were sought via a systematic search strategy across the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and PsycINFO databases.
Results: Sixteen studies were identified. In mammals, the neuropsychological impacts of puberty blockers are complex and often sex specific (n = 11 studies). There is no evidence that cognitive effects are fully reversible following discontinuation of treatment. No human studies have systematically explored the impact of these treatments on neuropsychological function with an adequate baseline and follow-up. There is some evidence of a detrimental impact of pubertal suppression on IQ in children.
Conclusion: Critical questions remain unanswered regarding the nature, extent and permanence of any arrested development of cognitive function associated with puberty blockers. The impact of puberal suppression on measures of neuropsychological function is an urgent research priority.

Tales of the Second City: Finding the Gems
Finding the Gems
You can find heart-warming stories in the most unexpected of places.
With over thirty years of misadventures on the Birmingham gay scene, socialising and cruising bars, pubs, clubs, saunas and secluded midnight nooks, I have tales to tell of the places, predicaments and people I have been in… but most importantly the humour and humanity I have encountered… on the gay side of the UK’s much maligned second city.
Shining a light on the scene unseen.
I was in a private members men-only club situated at the shadowy end of Lower Essex Street, which confidently describes itself as ‘the Midland’s horniest club’. While anything and everything can and does go on in this salacious bar, it was a particularly quiet mid-week. Only a modest early evening crowd had come in for a post-work drink and the chance of a hook-up.
I was occupying myself by casually exchanging taps and pleasantries with local guys on… well I’ll say a ‘popular gay dating app’… but I mean Grindr, when a friendly ‘Hello’ popped up in my messages from someone 10 meters way.
I looked up to see a petite, South Asian lad beaming a wide grin at me from the other side of the central bar that dominated the core of the club. The lad turned his doe eyes bashfully to the floor. I waited the few self-conscious moments that it required for him to gather the confidence to look back up again, returned his smile, picked up my pint and walked over.
We introduced ourselves. His name was Nishantand it turned out that he was from a small town outside of Calcutta and in the UK on a three-year student visa.
Soon any hint of shyness had disappeared, and this guy showed that he loved to talk, chatting enthusiastically about his studies, future ambitions and friends, both in Birmingham and back home in India. One subject rapidly tumbling into the next in an engaging monologue, all delivered in his lyrical Indian accent. Most endearing, was the head wiggle, often referred to as the ‘Indian Nod’, that punctuated Nishant’s soliloquy, adding emphasis to key moments and marking changes of emotion, pace and tone, like a human metronome.
Sadly, his narrative took a downturn when he started to talk about a secret affair that he had been involved in with a man in his hometown. Things had turned sour after they had split up and the bitter ex-lover had maliciously outed Nishant to his community, bringing shame and resulting in a temporary breakdown in his relationship with his parents. Feeling he had no choice, but to get away, his studies in Birmingham not only presented new opportunities, but also respite from the scandal.
When it came time to leave for the UK, Nishant’s mother and father refused to accompany him to the airport or even say goodbye.
He had one older brother with whom he was understandably nervous of broaching the subject of his sexuality for fear of further rejection.
When he finally mustered the courage to talk to the brother, he asked, "Are you also ashamed of me?"
The brother replied, "I am neither ashamed nor surprised... and have been deleting your browser history since you were twelve years old." He had discovered his sibling’s taste in internet porn sites years before and had been keeping the secret safe ever since.
“I think I love your brother,” I gushed, once the story was over… and I could finally get a word in edgewise, “but hang on… TWELVE?!! Dirty boy!!!”
“What can I say,” Nishant replied, with broad grin and that characteristic wiggle of the head, “I was an early developer.”
Even in a bar notorious for anonymous cruising, casual bunk-ups and no-strings-attached fun, if you take a moment to look beyond the window dressing of slings and bars, rubber and leather you will find something else.
Within the dark corners… you can find gems in the shadows.

How to Build a White label Windows Reseller Hosting Business from Scratch?
In digital-first economy, more businesses and entrepreneurs in the UK are looking to launch their own hosting companies. One of the most cost-effective and scalable paths is through Windows reseller hosting. By starting a white label hosting business, you can offer full-fledged hosting services under your own brand without the complexity of server management.
In this guide, we'll walk you through everything you need to know to build a white label Windows reseller hosting business from scratch, including why it's a smart move in the market, how to get started, and how to scale it efficiently. We’ll also compare Linux vs. Windows reseller hosting, explore cheap and managed reseller hosting options, and highlight how you can pair your hosting services with webdesign offerings for maximum profit.
What is Windows Reseller Hosting?
Windows reseller hosting is a web hosting service where you rent server space and resources from a web hosting provider and resell them to clients under your own branding. It is powered by Windows Server OS and is ideal for customers who require technologies such as:
ASP.NET
MSSQL
Microsoft Access
Remote Desktop
Plesk control panel
Unlike Linux reseller hosting, which is built around PHP and MySQL, Windows hosting supports Microsoft-based applications and frameworks. This makes it suitable for businesses and developers who depend on Microsoft's ecosystem.
Why Choose White Label Reseller Hosting?
White label reseller hosting enables you to purchase hosting services from a web hosting provider and rebrand them as your own. Your clients interact solely with your business and never see the original provider’s branding, giving you complete control over pricing, package structure, and the overall customer experience. This approach allows you to build a unique brand identity in the market while offering additional services such as webdesign, domain registration, and email marketing. It's an ideal model for UK-based entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses looking to enter the web hosting industry without the need for significant upfront investment in infrastructure.
Benefits of Starting a Reseller Hosting Business in the UK-
1. Growing Demand
More businesses are going online than ever before. With over 60% of small businesses still needing a website, offering hosting and webdesign packages is a high-demand combo.
2. Recurring Revenue
Hosting services are typically billed monthly or annually. This means once you acquire customers, you earn predictable, recurring revenue.
3. Minimal Startup Costs
Thanks to cheap Windows reseller hosting providers, you can get started for as low as £1 per month. Compare this with the thousands it takes to build and maintain your own server farm.
4. Local Market Advantage
Using UK-based data centres and payment systems ensures low latency and better SEO targeting, making it easier to rank locally.
Step-by-Step: How to Build Your White Label Hosting Business-
Step 1: Choose Between Linux and Windows Reseller Hosting
While Linux reseller hosting is common due to its compatibility with PHP and open-source apps like WordPress, Windows reseller hosting is ideal for businesses using ASP.NET, Microsoft Exchange, and Access databases.
Offering both Windows and Linux packages gives you broader appeal in the market.
Step 2: Select a Reliable Hosting Provider
The success of your reseller hosting business largely depends on the reliability of your hosting provider. It’s essential to choose a provider that offers full whitelabel support, allowing you to operate under your own brand without exposing the backend source. Look for features such as the Plesk control panel for Windows, UK-based data centres for improved local performance, and 24/7 managed support to ensure technical issues are resolved quickly. Automated backups and updates are crucial for maintaining site integrity, while integration with WHMCS or other billing platforms helps streamline client management and automate routine tasks. For instance, MyResellerHome is a trusted choice for cheap managed reseller hosting in the UK, offering customisable plans, robust infrastructure, and consistently high uptime for your clients.
Step 3: Set Up Your Hosting Packages
Once you’ve chosen a reliable provider, the next step is to create tailored hosting packages that appeal to a wide range of clients. Your plans should be structured to include essential features such as disk space and bandwidth limits, email hosting, free SSL certificates for secure connections, daily backups for data protection, and access to a website builder or free webdesign templates to support non-technical users. These features add value and make your offerings more attractive in the competitive UK market. To stay ahead, it's wise to research your competitors—especially those ranking on the first two pages of Google UK—to understand their pricing models, feature sets, and positioning. This will help you craft compelling packages that stand out while remaining cost-effective and customer-friendly.
Step 4: Register a Domain & Set Up Website
Choosing the right domain name is a crucial step in establishing your brand identity. For a UK audience, it's best to select a domain that is short, memorable, and ends in .co.uk to signal local relevance and trust. Once your domain is secured, use a professional CMS like WordPress or take advantage of a built-in site builder provided with your cheap web hosting plans to create a clean, SEO-friendly website. Your site should reflect your brand and clearly communicate your services. To optimise for search visibility and user engagement, include dedicated landing pages for Windows reseller hosting, Linux reseller hosting, managed reseller hosting, and webdesign services. Don’t forget to add a page for customer testimonials, which can build credibility and help convert visitors into paying clients.
Step 5: Automate Your Billing & Client Management
Efficient management is key to running a successful reseller hosting business, and automation can significantly reduce your workload. Tools like WHMCS are essential for streamlining operations. With WHMCS, you can automate client onboarding, hosting account provisioning, invoicing, renewals, and ticket-based support—all from a single platform. This not only improves customer experience but also ensures accuracy and consistency in your business processes. Ideally, your web hosting provider should either include a WHMCS license or support seamless integration with it or similar billing platforms. Automating these core functions helps keep your business scalable, professional, and ready for growth in the competitive UK hosting market.
Step 6: Customise Branding for Full White Label Experience
To take full advantage of the whitelabel model, it’s essential to customise every aspect of your hosting environment to reflect your own brand. Start by replacing any provider logos with your own, ensuring that your clients see only your branding throughout their experience. Customise the client area and control panel to match your business's visual identity, which helps reinforce trust and professionalism. Use branded email addresses for all customer communications to maintain consistency and credibility. Additionally, set up custom nameservers to give your hosting service a fully independent appearance. These branding efforts make your reseller hosting business look established and professional, helping you stand out in the competitive best web hosting landscape.
Step 7: Add Web Design Services
Integrating webdesign services into your hosting business gives you a powerful competitive advantage, especially in the UK market where many startups and small businesses prefer all-in-one digital solutions. By offering both hosting and design, you become a one-stop shop for clients looking to establish or improve their online presence. Create tiered webdesign packages that cater to different budgets and needs, including features like responsive website design for mobile compatibility, e-commerce setup for online stores, basic SEO to enhance visibility, and content writing to ensure professional messaging. Bundling these services with your cheap web hosting plans not only increases your average revenue per client but also provides greater value, improving customer satisfaction and retention.
Step 8: Marketing & SEO for the Audience
To establish a strong online presence, it’s crucial to tailor your marketing and SEO strategies to a local audience. Start by using specific spelling and grammar consistently across your website to align with local expectations and search behaviour. Implement structured data with local schema markup, such as LocalBusiness, to help search engines understand your business’s relevance to users. Optimise key pages for targeted phrases like cheap Windows reseller hosting, managed reseller hosting, whitelabel hosting for web designers, and affordable hosting for UK startups to improve visibility in search results.
To boost your site’s authority, build quality backlinks from reputable directories, forums, and blogs. Additionally, launch a blog featuring valuable content on webdesign, hosting tips, SEO advice, and tech insights to engage your audience and attract organic traffic. Don’t overlook the power of social media—platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter are ideal for reaching small business owners, freelancers, and tech startups who are actively seeking digital solutions.
Why Managed Reseller Hosting Makes Scaling Easier?
Managed reseller hosting gives you peace of mind. Your web hosting provider handles:
Server updates
Security patches
Monitoring and uptime
Technical support (even white-labeled)
This frees up your time to focus on marketing and customer acquisition. It’s especially helpful for non-technical founders.
MyResellerHome provides comprehensive managed reseller hosting packages with 24/7 support, making them ideal for UK-based businesses that want to grow fast without technical headaches.
Mistakes to Avoid When Starting Out-
Ignoring Linux Users: Even if you start with Windows reseller hosting, don’t neglect users who prefer Linux hosting. Offer both to maximise sales.
Overpricing Plans: The market is price-sensitive. Keep pricing cheap but value-packed.
Underestimating Support Needs: Technical support is critical. Choose the web hosting provider that offers white-labeled support if you’re not tech-savvy.
Lack of Branding: Without proper whitelabel branding, clients may know you’re a reseller, which can erode trust.
Not Upselling Webdesign: Hosting is great, but webdesign services can significantly boost your average client spend.
Final Thoughts: Build Your Best Web Hosting Empire-
Starting a white label Windows reseller hosting business is not just feasible—it’s a powerful way to generate recurring income with low startup costs. By offering cheap, reliable hosting with a professional whitelabel experience, and pairing it with services like webdesign, you can build a trusted digital brand.
Whether you're a freelancer, agency, or aspiring entrepreneur, platforms like MyResellerHome make it easy to get started with managed reseller hosting solutions that scale with your growth.
Take action today, tap into the booming digital economy, and turn your dream of owning a hosting company into a thriving reality.

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia! ☕️
I went out on Monday and picked up a 2008 Chevy Silverado 4x4 pickup. Why? Well, we bought a camping trailer last spring and we discovered pulling it with Kim’s Honda Pilot felt unstable and underpowered. Basically it felt like we were on the edge of something going wrong at any time. It was just unsettling.
I’ve been without a vehicle since COVID and since I’ve always had a truck and we wanted one for the trailer it was an easy decision. Plus, as far as trucks go, it was inexpensive.
Would I love to have a new Chevy or Ford EV Truck? You bet! Am I willing to spend $60,000 plus to have one? Sorry, can’t do it.
Anywho, I like it! 🛻
M.G. Siegler
This is wild. Both because they declined – again, for the first time in a decade – but more so because they have to know the signal it sends in declining.1 At best, it looks like they’re trying to avoid answering any non-staged questions about how things are going. At worst, it looks like they’re freezing Gruber out for a few recent critical posts about the company – notably, his “Something Is Rotten in the State of Cupertino” post about the Apple Intelligence shitshow back in March.
When I read John’s post about this years The Talk Show at WWDC I figured Apple was showing their displeasure with John’s earlier piece.
Like most big companies Apple has run into their fair share of problems, criticism, and lawsuits.
The law is finally catching up with some of Apple’s policies around their 15-30% fee for sales in the App Store, which is the only way to sell an iOS App.
They lost a case in California that says they have to allow third-party payment systems. App developers have Epic to thank for that. I’m not switching my in app purchase strategy. I’ll continue to use Apple’s system, at least for now.

This book is designed to help C++ programmers learn Rust. It provides translations of common C++ patterns into idiomatic Rust. Each pattern is described through concrete code examples along with high-level discussion of engineering trade-offs.
Really nice resource if, like me, you have a C++ programming background! From everything I’ve heard, Rust is a great language. I kind of wish someone would do a low-level equivalent for C++ devs moving to Swift.
Has anyone proven that Swift is just as performant as C++ on Mac, Linux, or Windows?
I know Microsoft is using Rust for some Windows APIs now. I don’t recall if it was GDI or User, but Windows does have some Rust code in it now.

As policy makers in the UK weigh how to regulate the AI industry, Nick Clegg, former UK deputy prime minister and former Meta executive, claimed a push for artist consent would “basically kill” the AI industry.
Maybe the AI industry needs to be killed or at least thrown in technical and political jail until a rational, equitable, system can be devised to pay authors and artists for their work.
How about the AI folks give us access to all their hard work? Their code, their algorithms, their LLMs, and all of their compute for free? All for the betterment of mankind. I bet they’d balk at that. 😃
Holly Cain • NASCAR Wire Service
A day filled with high hopes and trophy expectations after weeks of hard work at track and a year to contemplate the quest ended abruptly Sunday after NASCAR star Kyle Larson crashed just before the midpoint of Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 — a race ultimately won in a sprint to the finish by three-time and reigning IndyCar champion, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou.
I feel really bad for Kyle Larson. He is without a doubt, in my mind, the greatest driver in the world today. He’s able to adapt to anything and everything, but that doesn’t mean he’s perfect. Last year he finished the race, in 16th I believe, this year he made a mistake and crashed out, taking two other cars with him.
It does happen, even to Kyle Larson. He’s a high risk high reward driver. He’s always on the edge of disaster.
After leaving Indy he got to the Coke 600, lead a number of laps, and spun out. No crash but he lost the lead and was mired in the back of the pack for the remainder of the day.
As a Kyle Larson fan I feel terrible for the guy.

Today, we are excited to announce broad availability of TypeScript Native Previews. As of today, you will be able to use npm to get a preview of the native TypeScript compiler. Additionally, you’ll be able to use a preview version of our editor functionality for VS Code through the Visual Studio Marketplace.
The team chose Go because they did a straight port of their TypeScript/JavaScript code to Go. The syntax was very similar so it was kind of a no brainer and Go is a memory safe compiled language.
It’s too bad they didn’t use Rust.
Taylor Troesh • Good Internet
Soon it will become something else entirely. Because it’s my website and I’m perpetually becoming somebody else.
I wish I had the skill to make my own websites. The fact that Taylor can and does is impressive. And to top it all off I love her style!
Personally I’m always after a JavaScript free site as plain HTML. That’s what I get with Micro.blog.
I do have a bit of JavaScript in my blog, at the end to see how many visits posts get. It’s minimal.
Joe Wilkins • Futurism
A recent experiment by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University staffed a fake software company entirely with AI Agents — an AI model designed to perform tasks on its own, basically — and the results were laughably chaotic.
You can’t rely on AI to do things without monitoring it. Think of it as an intern, only not as smart - because it’s not intelligent, it’s a pachinko machine that often times makes really good guesses.
Use it, do not trust it, and for goodness sake verify everything it produces if you’re going to use it. It could be a real time saver, or wreck your work if you’re not careful.
I used our AI product this week and while it gave me good answers it didn’t provide me with a solution to my problem around publishing npm packages to GitHub. It gave me great information on how to setup part of my GitHub Actions script but I’ve never done it before and was hoping it would “just work.” It didn’t.
I hadn’t setup the Packages section in the repository to accept packages from my own repo. Live and learn.
BTW, that is not an indictment of AI failings. It provided me with great answers to my prompts. It really did. I just didn’t know what I didn’t know.
Reading GitHub’s documentation on the matter would’ve been very beneficial to me. Next time I’ll be better prepared for my sake and the AI’s.
Pixel Envy
Tripp Mickle, of the New York Times, wrote another one of those articles exploring the feasibility of iPhone manufacturing in the United States. There is basically nothing new here; the only reason it seems to have been published is because the U.S. president farted out yet another tariff idea, this time one targeted specifically at the iPhone at a rate of 25%.
I can’t see how Tim Cook and Apple can possibly manage their way out of TACO Man’s sights. He desperately wants Apple to make things here in the states. Apple has the money to do it, but they don’t want to do it.

They could help local Community Colleges and Universities spin up training programs to teach the skills necessary to build iPhones, IPads, and other products, but that would take years and years to do and take lots of cash to pull it off.
Apple wants to make money, not spend it. Remember, it’s all about shareholder value to these folks. It’s not about helping our fellow man find a great paying job.
No Idea Blog
Your job title says “software engineer”, but you seem to spend most of your time in meetings. You’d like to have time to code, but nobody else is onboarding the junior engineers, updating the roadmap, talking to the users, noticing the things that got dropped, asking questions on design documents, and making sure that everyone’s going roughly in the same direction. If you stop doing those things, the team won’t be as successful. But now someone’s suggesting that you might be happier in a less technical role. If this describes you, congratulations: you’re the glue. If it’s not, have you thought about who is filling this role on your team?
As a Staff Engineer I’m way more valuable to my team being the glue that brings us together. I act as mentor, coding buddy, and I see projects from 30,000 feet all the way down to minute details.
I’m not nearly as smart as 99% of the developers in the world. I’ve just been around the block a few times and I’ve built lots of different things on different OS’es using a mix of languages. I’ve done everything in the development life cycle so I know how to take something from concept to shipping and know how to do it with a team. That’s my strength. Sure, I can write code, but I really enjoy doing that glue stuff. It’s often random, sometimes spur of the moment — like fixing something in our iOS app yesterday so we could submit it to Apple.
I love the mix of people I work with daily. I have excellent management surrounding me who encourage me to serve my purpose on the team. Add the amazing Software and Test Engineers I work with daily and you have the perfect formula for happiness on the job.
Given all that I’d still love to retire and work on my apps full time. Not because I hate my day job but because I desperately want to build my apps! 🙂

Less than two years later, the company has announced that it’s discontinuing Arc in favor of a new app – Dia – which it is also pitching as the future of internet usage
I find this puzzling. I know so many people who absolutely love Arc! Why not keep it running to serve the people who love it? Keep a tiny crew on it, let it evolve slowly.
In the end VCs have to get paid I suppose. This is part of why we can’t have nice things or useful software. 🤣

Best Desktop App Solutions for Businesses in Europe, Asia & the Middle East
Best Desktop App Solutions for Businesses in Europe, Asia & the Middle East
In today’s fast-evolving digital landscape, desktop application development services remain a critical pillar for businesses that demand stability, speed, and powerful offline capabilities. While web and mobile apps dominate consumer markets, desktop applications continue to play a vital role in enterprise operations—especially across regions like Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, where industries rely on robust, custom-built software to manage complex workflows.
From financial institutions in Germany to manufacturing hubs in India and retail networks in the UAE, desktop software offers unmatched control, security, and performance for businesses looking to scale efficiently.
Why Businesses Still Rely on Desktop Apps
While cloud-based solutions have grown rapidly, desktop applications are still the preferred choice for many businesses due to:
Offline functionality: Ideal for industries with unreliable internet access or high security needs.
Performance and speed: Native desktop apps run faster and more efficiently than browser-based tools.
Customization: Tailored software that aligns precisely with a company’s internal operations.
Security: Enhanced control over data storage and access, which is essential for regulated industries like finance, healthcare, and logistics.
Regional Use Cases: How Different Markets Benefit
🇩🇪 Germany & France (Europe)
European enterprises in sectors like automotive, engineering, and pharmaceuticals prioritize precision and security. Desktop apps are used for everything from CAD software to ERP systems and inventory management. Local compliance and GDPR requirements also make on-premise desktop software an appealing option.
🇦🇪 UAE & Middle East
In the Middle East, especially in places like UAE and Saudi Arabia, government organizations and corporate enterprises prefer desktop apps for tasks like internal communications, document processing, and secure financial reporting. Desktop-based solutions help manage sensitive data in a controlled environment.
🇮🇳 🇮🇩 India & Indonesia (Asia)
In growing economies like India and Indonesia, SMEs and large enterprises alike use desktop applications to manage POS systems, HR management tools, accounting software, and custom enterprise solutions. Desktop software continues to support offline-first workflows that are essential in areas with inconsistent internet access.
🇬🇧 🇮🇹 🇦🇺 🇳🇿 UK, Italy, Australia & New Zealand
These countries are seeing a resurgence in hybrid desktop-web app development, where desktop software complements cloud-based tools. This approach gives teams more control while still benefiting from cloud syncing and remote access.
Features to Look for in Modern Desktop App Solutions
When choosing or building a desktop solution, businesses should look for:
Cross-platform support (Windows, macOS, Linux)
Scalability and modular architecture
Integration with existing enterprise systems
Security features like data encryption, user roles, and audit trails
User-friendly UI/UX that reduces training time
Final Thoughts
As the demand for secure, high-performance, and customized software solutions continues to grow, investing in the right desktop application can give businesses a competitive edge across multiple regions. Whether you’re in Europe, Asia, or the Middle East, choosing a partner with global experience and local insight is essential.
If your business is ready to leverage the power of custom desktop software, working with a reliable desktop application development company is the first step toward building a solution tailored to your specific needs.
