Understanding Client Requests
Window cleaning companies encounter various special requests from clients, including preferences for eco-friendly cleaning solutions, specific timing for service, or additional treatments like stain removal. Understanding the nature of these requests is the first step in providing customized service.
Eco-Friendly Solutions Many clients today are conscious of the environmental impact of their services, leading to a demand for biodegradable or eco-friendly cleaning solutions. To accommodate this, window cleaning companies often maintain a selection of green products or can source them upon request.
Flexible Scheduling Some clients require cleaning at specific times to avoid interrupting business operations or family routines. In response, top-tier window cleaning services offer flexible scheduling options, even accommodating early morning or late evening cleanings if necessary.
Special Treatments for Glass Types Clients with unique glass features, such as tinted or UV-protected windows, may request specialized cleaning methods. Window cleaning services often conduct an initial inspection to identify glass types and adapt their cleaning techniques accordingly.
Consultation Process: Creating a Custom Plan
When clients approach window cleaning companies with specific needs, a consultation session allows for detailed discussions on how to fulfill these requirements.
In-Person and Virtual Consultations To ensure clear communication, companies offering Window Cleaning near me may provide in-person or virtual consultations. During these meetings, clients can outline their requests, and cleaning specialists can explain how they will address each detail.
Creating a Tailored Cleaning Plan After understanding the client’s needs, window cleaners create a plan that may involve special equipment, products, or cleaning processes. This ensures every part of the service meets or exceeds client expectations.
Transparent Pricing for Special Requests Addressing special requests often comes with additional costs. Leading companies maintain transparency, providing upfront pricing and discussing any extra charges associated with unique service adjustments.
Equipment and Techniques for Special Needs
Special requests often necessitate unique equipment or techniques, particularly in high-rise buildings or for clients with accessibility needs.
Specialized Equipment for High-Rise WindowsClients with tall commercial properties or high-rise residences may request thorough exterior cleaning. In these cases, window cleaning services use specialized equipment, such as rope access or aerial lifts, to safely clean hard-to-reach areas.
Handling Delicate and Historic WindowsFor historic buildings or fragile windows, clients may request gentle cleaning methods. To meet these needs, professionals might use low-pressure washing systems or microfiber cloths to avoid damaging the glass.
Client Follow-Up: Ensuring Satisfaction with Customized Services
Client feedback is crucial for companies aiming to provide top-notch customized services.
Requesting Feedback Post-ServiceMany companies reach out to clients for feedback following a special request service. This helps companies understand client satisfaction levels and improve future handling of unique demands.
Implementing Adjustments Based on Client PreferencesIf a client provides feedback on areas for improvement, leading window cleaning services often incorporate this information into their future processes, enhancing the overall experience.
Conclusion:Handling special requests is essential for delivering a premium window cleaning service experience. By offering flexibility in products, schedules, and techniques, and maintaining open communication, professional window cleaning companies can meet diverse client needs effectively. Such dedication to customization not only enhances customer satisfaction but also strengthens client loyalty over time.

Epic’s still tracking your time played in Fortnite
If you’ve been looking to track your Fortnite time played, Epic hasn’t made that easy, disabling the feature earlier this year in an effort to reduce server load. But that doesn’t mean the feature’s dead, as your time stats are still be tracked - just locally, in the game’s config files.
You can find the stat in the GameUserSettings.ini file - located at AppData / Local / FortniteGame / Saved/Config / WindowsClient. Scroll down, and you’ll find the SimpleMobileStats tracker, which shows GamesPlayed, SecondsPlayed, KillCount, and BestResult.
Lose even more hours to the best free PC games.
For the mathematically challenged among you, you can divided SecondsPlayed by 60 to find out how many minutes you have in Fortnite, then by 60 again to figure out your hours played. The timer ticks up while you’re in-game, but not during menu screens.
But the details of the stat remain somewhat mysterious. Several people in a recent Reddit thread have noted that the stat doesn’t seem to accurately reflect their actual time played. Some speculate that this is in fact just keeping track of your in-game time since Epic stopped tracking via its own servers.
That would mean this stat could be combined with the existing time played stat still held server-side - assuming, of course, that’s how this works. Until someone does the math against an external method of tracking or Epic finally re-enables it, we’re not gonna know for sure. Either way, tracking the time in a config file seems like it’d completely bust the system open with trivial stat hacks.

System Center Configuration Manager current branch 1810 KB4486457 available
Tumblr media
System Center Configuration Manager current branch 1810 KB4486457 available.
Issues that are fixed
First wave issues Synchronization of Office 365 updates may fail after you update to Configuration Manager current branch, version 1810. Errors messages that resemble one of the following are recorded in the WSyncMgr.log file: ProcessFileManifest() failed to process O365 file manifest. Caught exception: System.Net.WebException: An exception occurred during a WebClient request. ProcessFileManifest() failed to process O365 file manifest. Caught exception: System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The URI scheme is not valid. The distribution point upgrade process may fail. This causes a block of additional content distribution to that server. Errors messages that resemble the following are recorded in the distmgr.log file: Failed to copy D:\SRVAPPS\Microsoft Configuration Manager\bin\x64\ccmperf.dll to \\{server}\SMS_DP$\sms\bin\ccmperf.dll. GLE = 32 All superseded updates are removed and no are longer applicable on a client, even before expiration. This issue occurs even if the Do not expire a superseded software update until the software update is superseded for 3 months option is enabled. Performance improvements have been made to the Data Replication Service for device discovery data. The second and successive phases of a deployment start automatically after the success of the first phase, regardless of start conditions. Phased deployment deadline behavior settings are inconsistent between the Create Phased Deployment Wizard and the Phase Settings properties. When you run a Servicing Plan after you select a Product Category, the filter is not added correctly. The Cloud Management Gateway (CMG) content service is not created correctly when the CMG role is added after you update to Configuration Manager current branch, version 1810. The No deployment package option is selected after you change the properties of an Automatic Deployment Rule (ADR). After this update rollup is applied, affected ADRs can be re-created and their properties changes without any further issue. The Configuration Manager Message Processing Engine (MPE) may not always process Active Directory discovery data when optional attributes are added. Errors that resemble the following are recorded in the SMS_Message_Processing_Engine.log: ERROR: Got SQL exception when handle discovery message. Exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): String or binary data would be truncated.~~ The Service Connection Tool (serviceconnection.exe) fails and you receive the following error message when you use the -connect parameter: ERROR: System.IO.Exception : The directory is not empty. A user without Full Administrator rights may be unable to create or edit Windows Defender ATP Policies, even when you add them to the Endpoint Protection Manager security role. The Prerequisite Installation Checker incorrectly gives the option to retry a site installation again. If a second retry is tried, the administrator must run the Configuration Manager Update Reset Tool (CMUpdateReset.exe) to resolve the issue. Processing of .bld files by the SMS_Notification_Manager component takes longer than expected. This leads to delays in processing data and a backlog of files in the \inboxes\bgb.box folder. After you update to Configuration Manager current branch, version 1810, remote SQL providers who use Microsoft SQL Server 2014 or an earlier version may not always query the database. Errors that resemble the following are recorded in the smsprov.log: *** User $' does not have permission to run DBCC TRACEON. The Software Updates Patch Downloader component retries updates, up to three times. These retries fail and return error code 404. Windows Server 2016 updates are displayed incorrectly as available when you schedule updates to a Windows Server 2019 operating system image. Searching for a user’s first or last name, or full name, returns no results from the Overview section of the Assets and Compliance node of the Configuration Manager console. This issue occurs even when full discovery data is available. Globally available release issues After you enable support for express installation files, content may not always download from Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) servers in the following scenarios: Configuration Manager client installation through Software Update Point Installing updates directly from WSUS Windows Feature on Demand (FOD) or Language Pack (LP) acquisition After you update to Configuration Manager current branch, version 1810, device enrollment can overwrite Windows telemetry collection values that were previously set by Group Policy. This issue can cause value toggling between full and basic, for example, when Group Policy is applied. Hardware inventory is updated to include information about add-ins for Office365 and standalone Office products. Desktop Analytics deployment plans show a larger device count in the Configuration Manager console than in the Desktop Analytics Portal. Configuration Manager client setup may fail over a metered (for example, cellular) network connection. This may occur even if client policy settings allow for those connections. An error message that resembles the following is recorded in the Ccmsetup.log file on the client: Client deployment cannot be fulfilled because use of metered network is not allowed. Client setup may fail because of SQL Server CE schema changes. Errors that resemble the following are recorded in the Ccmsetup-client.log on the client: MSI: Setup was unable to compile Sql CE script file %windir%\CCM\DDMCache.sqlce. The error code is 80040E14. If an application is in a partly compliant state, and the client sees that a dependency is installed but the main application is not and requires re-enforcement, available deployment causes the following issues: The application is displayed as required or past due even though the deployment is available and there is no supersedence relation. Clicking Install has no effect. Sign in to Azure services fails when you use the Create Workflow in the Azure Services Wizard, even when correct credentials are used. Configuration Manager setup may fail the prerequisite check during installation or an update of a site server. This issue occurs if the environment uses SQL Always On. The “Firewall exception for SQL Server” rule shows a status of failed, and errors messages that resemble the following are recorded, even if the correct firewall exceptions are configured: ERROR: Failed to access Firewall Policy Profile. ERROR: Failed to connect to WMI namespace on Firewall exception for SQL Server; Error; The Windows Firewall is enabled and does not have exceptions configured for SQL Server or the TCP ports that are required for intersite data replication. The alternative download server that is listed in the "Specify intranet Microsoft update service location" window is not propagated to the Group Policy settings on the client. The download of Office 365 updates, such as “Semi-annual Channel Version 1808 for x86 Build 10730.20264” or “Monthly Channel Version 1812 for x64 Build 11126.20196” may fail. No errors are logged in the Patchdownloader.log file. However, entries that resemble the following are logged in the AdminUI.log log: (SMS_PackageToContent.ContentID={content_ID},PackageID='{package_ID}') does not exist or its IsContentValid returns false. We will (re)download this content. Read the full article

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18305 released
Tumblr media
Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18305 released. A simplified Start layout Tt=he simplified Start layout is part of an ongoing effort designed to enhance your Start experience in the upcoming release of Windows.
Tumblr media
Windows Sandbox Windows Sandbox is a new lightweight desktop environment tailored for safely running applications in isolation. How many times have you downloaded an executable file, but were afraid to run it? Have you ever been in a situation which required a clean installation of Windows, but didn’t want to set up a virtual machine? An isolated desktop environment where you can run untrusted software without the fear of lasting impact to your device. Any software installed in Windows Sandbox stays only in the sandbox and cannot affect your host. Once Windows Sandbox is closed, all the software with all of its files and state are permanently deleted. Windows Sandbox has the following properties: Part of Windows – everything required for this feature ships with Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise. No need to download a VHD! Pristine – every time Windows Sandbox runs, it’s as clean as a brand-new installation of Windows Disposable – nothing persists on the device; everything is discarded after you close the application Secure – uses hardware-based virtualization for kernel isolation, which relies on the Microsoft Hypervisor to run a separate kernel which isolates Windows Sandbox from the host Efficient – uses integrated kernel scheduler, smart memory management, and virtual GPU To install Windows Sandbox, go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features on or off, and then select Enable Windows Sandbox. Windows Security app improvements New Protection History experience: The new Protection History experience still shows you detections by Windows Defender Antivirus, but it’s now updated to also give more detailed and easier to understand information about threats and available actions. We have also added Controlled folder access blocks to history, along with any blocks which are made through organizational configuration of Attack Surface Reduction Rules. If you use the Windows Defender Offline scanning tool, any detections it makes will now also show in your history.  Additionally, you will see any pending recommendations (red or yellow states from throughout the app) in the history list. We hope you like the changes we’ve made! Introducing Tamper Protection! Tamper Protection is a new setting from Windows Defender Antivirus, available in the Windows Security app, which when on, provides additional protections against changes to key security features, including limiting changes which are not made directly through the Windows Security app. You can find this setting under Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Virus & Threat Protection Settings. Symbols and Kaomoji are now just a hotkey away! When you press WIN+(period) or WIN+(semicolon), in addition to emoji the picker that appears will now include symbols and kaomoji too! You may ask, what is kaomoji? Translated literally from Japanese, it means “face characters” – basically, it’s a way to create faces using only text. You may already use them, for example the one mentioned above is relatively popular: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ This experience, originally introduced for Chinese (Simplified) during RS5 development, started rolling out to Insiders across all languages with Build 18252 – as of today’s it’s now available to all Insiders in Fast! Clipboard history gets a new look We originally opted to show bigger entries so there was space to show an image preview nicely, but when we looked at our data, we found 90% of items in the clipboard history were text. Based on that and your feedback, we now optimizing the design for text snippets – shrinking the height of each entry and thus giving you access to more entries without needing to scroll the view. Hope you like the change we made! Copy some text and press Windows logo key + V to check out the updated design. Signing in to Windows with password-less Microsoft accounts   If you have a Microsoft account with your phone number, you can use an SMS code to sign in, and set up your account on Windows 10. Once you’ve setup your account, you can use Windows Hello Face, Fingerprint, or a PIN (depending on your device capabilities) to sign in to Windows 10. No password needed anywhere! Creating a password-less phone number account If you don’t already have a password-less phone number account, you can create one in a mobile app like Word to try it out. Simply go to Word and sign up with your phone number by entering your phone number under “Sign in or sign up for free”. Add your password-less phone number account to Windows  Now that you’ve created a password-less phone number account, you can use it to sign in to Windows with the following steps: Add your account to Windows from Settings > Accounts > Family & other Users > “Add someone else to this PC”. Lock your device and select your phone number account from the Windows sign-in screen. Since your account doesn’t have a password, select ‘Sign in options’, click the alternative ‘PIN’ tile, and click ‘Sign in’. Go through web sign in and Windows Hello set up (this is what you’ll use to sign in to your account on subsequent sign ins) You can now enjoy the benefits of signing in to Windows with your password-less phone number account. Note: This experience is currently only available for Insiders on Home edition. We’ll let you know when it expands to more editions Streamlined Windows Hello PIN reset experience We know remembering a PIN can be tricky, so we wanted to provide our Microsoft account users with a revamped Windows Hello PIN reset experience with the same look and feel as signing in on the web. Check it out in today’s build by clicking the ‘I forgot my PIN’ link when signing in to Windows with a PIN. Note: This experience is currently only available for Insiders on Home edition. We’ll let you know when it expands to more editions. Keep your device running smoothly with recommended troubleshooting For example, we may recommend turning off a setting that sometimes causes an app or feature to crash unexpectedly until an update is available. We’ll let you know when we can help, and you can choose to run the troubleshooter or ignore it. You can also change how recommended troubleshooting is run on your device by opening Start > Settings > Privacy > Diagnostics & Feedback. You may see recommended troubleshooting from us while we test the feature. These tests, marked as “sample recommended troubleshooter”, are safe to run and will not make any changes to your device. The tests help to ensure that the feature is working as designed and give you an opportunity to give feedback, so we can help keep your device working at its best. Automatic Restart and Sign On (ARSO) for Enterprises Are you tired of seeing these flashing screens after every update? ARSO is a feature that automatically signs-in a user after an update to finish setting up and then locks the PC. This feature is part of our Seamless Update Story for Windows, and its goal is to reduce customer pain points around updates, including things such as post logon set up time and not being able to pick up where you left off. This feature will be enabled on Cloud Domain Joined devices that meet certain security requirements: BitLocker is enabled and is not suspended during the upgrade TPM 2.0 SecureBoot To check if your device will get ARSO go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Privacy: If the toggle is switched “On” and is not grayed out, then the device meets the security requirements for ARSO, and is enabled by default. If the toggle is grayed out and Enabled, this means that your IT Admin has explicitly enabled ARSO for you, irrespective of your device’s security requirements. If the toggle is grayed out and disabled, this means that you do not meet the minimum security requirements for Enterprise ARSO, or your IT Admin has explicitly disabled ARSO for you, irrespective of your device’s security requirements. Set a default Task Manager tab You can set your preferred tab via Options > Set default tab. Updated Settings Homepage Inspired by the Microsoft account homepage, the Settings home page now has a header at the top allowing you to take quick action for things like signing in and managing your Microsoft account, making the Windows and Microsoft experience better. It also gives you an easy to glance at system status, such as when updates are available.
Tumblr media
Friendly Dates in File Explorer Based on your comments, in Build 18305, we’re making it a bit easier to turn off if it’s not your thing – you no longer have to dig through settings, you can now just right-click on the date modified column and toggle friendly dates on and off from there. Friendly dates isn’t yet available for everyone, so don’t worry if you don’t see it just yet – we’ll let you know when it’s live for all. Shadows are back! Shadows are part of our long-term vision of the evolution of Fluent Design, and we’re excited to bring them back to you today after addressing some of the feedback you shared with us following the initial rollout. Re-releasing the new Japanese IME The latest version of the IME has enhanced key customization options and improved candidate window reliability (fixing an issue where it wouldn’t show), and we’re looking forward to you trying it out. Because we want to ensure the best possible typing experience, this will be a staggered rollout – some Insiders will get it today, and we will carefully review both metrics and your comments before pushing the IME out to everyone. Note: We are aware of compatibility issues with some game applications and the team is working on them – we’ll let you know when this has been addressed. Introducing the Office app for Windows 10 The app is a great starting point for Office that helps you easily find all your files in one place or easily access any Office solution available to you. It knows to connect you to the Office rich clients if they are installed on your computer or it will send you to the web version of Office if they’re not. IT will also appreciate the ability to customize the app by integrating other line of business applications that use Azure Active Directory into the experience and apply corporate branding to the app. Get more done with Cortana and Microsoft To-Do Want just one to-do list that works twice as hard for you? Save time and stay organized – Cortana helps by adding your reminders and tasks to your lists in Microsoft To-Do with this feature preview, so you can stay on top of what matters most. Use your voice, your PC, your phone – your choice. Streamline your tasks – your lists and reminders from across Microsoft To-Do, Cortana, and tasks in Outlook can now become one, centrally located in your Microsoft To-Do app. Use Microsoft To-Do anywhere: on your Android or iPhone, with Cortana, or on your Windows 10 PC. You can also access it from the web. It’s automatically synced so you never miss a beat. With this integration, we are furthering efforts to seamlessly sync your to-do lists across Microsoft To-Do, Cortana, and your tasks in Outlook. Read the full article

What’s new in OneNote October 2018 update
Tumblr media
What’s new in OneNote October 2018 update. Keep your work in sync with OneNote Ever wonder if you’re looking at the latest version of a file? When you attach a file stored in the cloud (i.e. on your OneDrive) to your OneNote page, you won’t have to wonder anymore because your file will be synced with the latest changes through OneDrive. Here’s how it works: You can attach cloud files simply by enabling it in Settings and clicking Insert > File. Once your cloud attachment is on the page, OneNote will upload the file into OneDrive, which makes real-time editing and collaborating on the file easy. Your notebook will display a live preview if it is an Office document, so you can see changes made to the file in real time. For all other document types, the attachment will display a link, but because the files are uploaded to OneDrive, the link will always display the latest version of the file. Cloud file attachments are coming to OneNote for Windows 10 and Mac in the next few weeks. Find what you need, when you need it Based on your feedback (thank you!), we’re rolling out the ability to search for tags in the OneNote for Windows 10 and Mac over the next few weeks. Tag search helps you to stay organized and keep track of subjects that may span multiple pages, sections, and even notebooks. You can search for tags by clicking the magnifying glass next to the notebook name in the left-had navigation pane. Type in your search query and choose to search all notebooks or the current notebook, section, or page. Create, express yourself and collaborate in OneNote Online OneNote for Windows 10 and Mac aren’t the only platforms to receive updates this month! Personalize and collaborate in OneNote Online with the features below – they are currently rolling out and will be available for all OneNote Online users to try in the coming weeks. Insert pictures from camera Use the new insert picture from camera feature to create pages with more context and clarity. Click Insert>Camera to select camera mode. Snap a picture and click insert to add it to your page. You may have to enable camera support in your browser to use this feature. It’s really that easy. Personalize with Emoji Keyboard This fun feature allows you to browse and insert the appropriate emoji to your notebooks. Click Insert>Emoji to see a sample of available emojis. To browse the whole collection, click “More Emojis” and the emoji keyboard will open for more ways to add flair to your content. Customize AutoCorrect options OneNote Online is giving you control of your autocorrect options. To access them, click on Home>Spelling>AutoCorrect Options to choose how you want OneNote Online to handle each of the displayed options. Fun fact: autocorrect can convert punctuation smileys to emojis 🙂. Copy and share link to section Easily share notebook sections for more collaboration: Right-click on a section you’d like to share and click “Copy Link to Section.” This copies a link that will render the section name when pasted into a OneNote Online document. Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17723 and Build 18204 released
Tumblr media
Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17723 and Build 18204 released. Mixed Reality Flashlight How many times have you been immersed in a captivating virtual experience and… Wanted to take a quick peek at someone nearby? Wanted to reach for a drink, your phone or a keyboard? Needed to find a surface to set down your controllers? In the past you probably fumbled about or removed your headset, which can be clumsy if you have controllers in your hands. Today we are excited to announce that we are adding the ability to peer into your physical environment through Flashlight – without removing your headset! With the latest Windows Insider Program build, you can open a portal into your real world at any time via the Start menu, a button shortcut, or a voice command. This opens a low-latency pass-through camera feed connected to your controller. It’s comfortable, intuitive, and keeps you immersed. Flashlight finally allows you to mix your physical and virtual realities. Give it a try in this week’s Insiders build and let us know what you think! Microsoft Edge Improvements New Microsoft Edge Group Policies: The Microsoft Edge team introduced new Group Policies and MDM settings for IT administrators to manage Microsoft Edge. The new policies include enabling/disabling full-screen mode, printing, favorites bar, and saving history; prevent certificate error overrides; configuring the Home button and startup options; setting the New Tab page and Home button URL and managing extensions. Retired XSS Filter: We are retiring the XSS filter in Microsoft Edge beginning in today’s build. Our customers remain protected thanks to modern standards like Content Security Policy, which provide more powerful, performant, and secure mechanisms to protect against content injection attacks, with high compatibility across modern browsers. Here comes Emoji 11 For those who haven’t already heard, Unicode 11 comes with 157 new emoji – as of today they’re now available for Insiders to try in the build. Including superheroes, redheads, a softball, a pirate flag and a llama all made the cut. You can access them using the Emoji Panel (WIN+.) or the touch keyboard. When you get today’s build, you’ll also find that we’ve made tweaks to some of our existing emoji – here are some examples: Our ninja cats got a bit of love too – can you spot the difference?
Tumblr media
Note: The Emoji Panel is currently available for 190+ locales. Keywords and tooltips for the new emoji in today’s build are not yet implemented.
Time Accuracy and Traceability improvements:
Leap Second Support– Windows will now support these occasional 1-second adjustments in a traceable and UTC-compliant manner. What’s a leap second? As the earth’s rotation slows, UTC (an atomic timescale) diverges from mean solar time or astronomical time.  Once UTC has diverged by at most .9 seconds, a Leap Second is inserted to keep UTC in-sync with mean solar time.  Since the practice of inserting leap seconds began in 1972, a leap second has typically occurred every 18 months. Precision Time Protocol– For the highest accuracy environments, you can now improve your time accuracy by leveraging a new time protocol that delivers far more accurate time samples to the endpoint (Windows Server 2019 or Windows 10, host or virtual machine). Software Timestamping– You can now further improve your network time accuracy by eliminating the software delay introduced by the Windows networking stack. Improved Kiosk Setup Experience We have introduced a simplified assigned access configuration page in Settings that allows device administrators to easily set up their PC as a kiosk or digital sign. This new page provides a wizard experience that walks you through the kiosk setup flow including creating a kiosk account that will automatically sign in on device start. Please go to Settings, search for assigned access, and open the “Set up a kiosk” page to give it a try We are very excited to announce that Microsoft Edge now works with assigned access which allows IT administrators to create a tailored browsing experience designed for kiosk devices. Microsoft Edge kiosk mode supports the following four types: For Microsoft Edge kiosk mode running in single-app assigned access the two kiosk types are: Digital / Interactive signage that displays a specific website full-screen InPrivate. Public browsing supports multi-tab browsing and runs InPrivate with minimal features available. Users cannot minimize, close, or open a new Microsoft Edge windows or customize it using Microsoft Edge Settings. Users can clear browsing data, downloads and restart Microsoft Edge by clicking “End session.” Administrators can configure Microsoft Edge to restart after a period of inactivity. For Microsoft Edge kiosk mode running in multi-app assigned access the two kiosk types are (Note the following Microsoft Edge kiosk mode types cannot be setup using the new simplified assigned access configuration page in Windows 10 Settings): Public browsing supports multi-tab browsing and runs InPrivate mode with minimal features available. In this configuration, Microsoft Edge can be one of many apps available. Users can close and open multiple InPrivate windows. Normal mode runs a full version of Microsoft Edge, although some features may not work depending on what apps are configured in assigned access. For example, if the Microsoft Store is not set up, users cannot get books. Improving your update experience Have you ever had to stop what you were doing, or wait for your computer to boot up because the device updated at the wrong time? We heard you, and to alleviate this pain, if you have an update pending we’ve updated our reboot logic to use a new system that is more adaptive and proactive. We trained a predictive model that can accurately predict when the right time to restart the device is. Meaning, that we will not only check if you are currently using your device before we restart, but we will also try to predict if you had just left the device to grab a cup of coffee and return shortly after. How Accurate is this Model? We’ve been using this model on internal devices, and we’ve seen promising results upon rollout.  Due to the nature of its architecture, we’re able to update the model with minimal turnaround time based on our insights from its performance. It’s all thanks to our cloud infrastructure. Game bar Improvements In RS5, we’re making it easier to access the Game bar. In this flight, you can now discover Game bar from the Start menu or bring up Game bar by using the Win + G shortcut at any time. General changes, improvements, and fixes We fixed an issue resulting in the “…” menu not working in multiple apps (including Microsoft Store, Photos, and Screen Sketch) where clicking on any of the items would just make the menu dismiss. We fixed an issue where in certain cases on PCs with multiple monitors, all the windows might have appeared shifted “up” and mouse input going to the wrong location. We fixed an issue where SNMP and the Windows Event Log service might start using an unexpectedly high amount of CPU in the last flight. We fixed the issue with Windows Defender Application Guard no longer working after installing the Build 17713.1002 Cumulative Update. We fixed an issue from the last flight where upon rebooting in order to start upgrading to the build, the system would boot back into the current build rather than the new one. We fixed an issue resulting in upgrades to the previous build failing with error 0x8007001f. We fixed an issue from the previous flight where Window Recovery Environment (WinRE) would not launch and resulted in “Reset this PC” and “Advanced startup” flows to be broken and appear to do nothing. We also fixed an issue from the flight before last (not visible in the last flight due to the aforementioned bug) where “Reset this PC” would initiate and rollback without completing the intended reset. We fixed an issue resulting in some laptops experiencing a CRITICAL PROCESS DIED bug check when the PC was put to sleep by closing lid and the connected power disconnected. We fixed an issue resulting in ShellExperienceHost.exe crashing when trying to pin apps to Start Menu via drag and drop. We fixed an explorer.exe crash when launching the Default Apps Settings page via WIN+R ‘control /name Microsoft.DefaultPrograms /page pageFileAssoc’. We fixed an issue where .mkv files were using a generic app icon in File Explorer instead of a thumbnail. Delivery Optimization Settings now has a new icon. We fixed an issue where suggestions on the main page of Settings would appear after a delay, making the Settings categories shift unexpectedly. We fixed an issue where Notification Settings listed every possible quick action in the enable/disable quick actions section, even those not applicable to the PC being used (including two Focus Assist entries). We fixed an issue where the systray overflow area could end up drawing slightly below the taskbar. We fixed an issue resulting in the network state in the taskbar potentially becoming stale in recent builds (showing there was no connection when there was, and vice versa). We fixed an issue where pinging PCs by name on the same LAN would do a case-sensitive name check. We fixed an issue where using v6v4tunnel to establish a tunnel didn’t work. We fixed an issue in Command Prompt from the previous flight where if a typed string wrapped around to a second line, you could only delete it up to the line break. We fixed an issue resulting in Task View / Timeline crashing on launch for some Insiders in recent builds. We fixed an issue where right-clicking an activity in Timeline was missing the “clear all from day” option. When you open a PDF using Microsoft Edge, the activity will now be listed in Timeline. We fixed an issue where sometimes you would see windows unexpectedly quickly reorder after exiting Task View without selecting a window. We fixed an issue from recent builds where the clock in the taskbar was leaking graphics device context handles (HDCs) every time it redrew, leading to performance issues the longer a PC was running. Multiple factors can impact performance, so if you’re continuing to notice any issues after upgrading to this build, please log feedback including a performance trace with a short repro and description. We fixed an issue resulting in not being able to distinguish the border between two overlapping Command Prompt windows. We fixed an issue resulting in the tops of apps in tablet mode being clipped (i.e. missing pixels). Not fixed. Thanks everyone for sharing your feedback about the new welcome screen string prompting you to lock your PC. For the time being we will be reverting this to the previous string “These updates will protect you in an online world”. We’ve made some tweaks to the design of the Cortana & Search landing page, specifically in situations where Cortana isn’t enabled/supported. We fixed an issue resulting in Microsoft Jigsaw hanging on launch in recent builds. The settings menu in Microsoft Edge (“…”) is now acrylic. When you right-click a book in the Microsoft Edge Books pane, you’ll now see an option to share the book. We fixed an issue that could result in Microsoft Edge spellchecking even though spellchecking was turned off in Settings. We fixed an issue where using the mouse wheel in Microsoft Edge would unexpectedly do a forward/back through browser history if focus was in the address bar and “Scroll inactive windows” was disabled. We fixed an issue where when using certain sites to listen to music in Microsoft Edge, your mouse might experience a small freeze if moving when the song changed. We fixed an issue resulting in apps like Adobe XD crashing on keypress in recent flights. We fixed an issue that could result in a deadlock on certain devices after using the pen to ink. We fixed an issue where the touch keyboard would still have a launch animation even if “Show animations” was turned off in Ease of Access Settings. We fixed an issue where launching regedit.exe (or any .exe that requires elevation) from a non-elevated cmd window using the “start” start command produced a “parameter is incorrect” error. We fixed an issue causing Narrator speech to fade when waking from sleep mode. We fixed an issue where the error “Your fingerprint couldn’t be recognized. Try using a different finger.” was displaying unexpected characters in place of the apostrophe. Known issues The clock & calendar flyout may not appear until bringing up Start or Action Center (and then they will both appear at the same time). This same issue may also result in notifications not appearing until Start or Action Center is opened. We’re progressing in our work on adding dark theme in File Explorer and the Common File Dialog – you’ll notice improvements in this build, although we still have a few things left to do. You may see some unexpectedly light colors in these surfaces when in dark mode and/or dark on dark text. When you upgrade to this build you’ll find that the taskbar flyouts (network, volume, etc) no longer have an acrylic background. When you use the Ease of Access Make Text bigger setting, you might see text clipping issues, or find that text is not increasing in size everywhere. When you set up Microsoft Edge as your kiosk app and configure the start/new tab page URL from assigned access Settings, Microsoft Edge may not get launched with the configured URL. The fix for this issue should be included in the next flight. On Build 17723 (but not Build 18204), you may see the notification count icon overlapping with the extension icon in the Microsoft Edge toolbar when an extension has unread notifications. On Windows 10 in S Mode, launching Office in the Store may fail to launch with an error about a .dll not being designed to run on Windows. The error message is that a .dll “is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again…” Some people have been able to work around this by uninstalling and reinstalling Office from the Store. If that doesn’t work, you can try to install a version of Office not from the Store. When the Narrator Quickstart launches, Scan Mode may not reliably be on by default. We recommend going through the Quickstart with Scan Mode on. To verify that Scan Mode is on, press Caps Lock + Space. When using Scan mode you may experience multiple stops for a single control. An example of this is if you have an image that is also a link. This is something we are actively working on. If the Narrator key is set to just Insert and you attempt to send a Narrator command from a braille display then these commands will not function. As long as the Caps Lock key is a part of the Narrator key mapping then braille functionality will work as designed. There is a known issue in automatic dialog reading where the title of the dialog is being spoken more than once. For more information about Narrator new keyboard layout and other known issues, please refer to (Intro to New Narrator Keyboard Layout doc). ADDED: There is an issue where the tops of apps in tablet mode being clipped (i.e. missing pixels). Known issues for Developers If you install any of the recent builds from the Fast ring and switch to the Slow ring – optional content such as enabling developer mode will fail. You will have to remain in the Fast ring to add/install/enable optional content. This is because optional content will only install on builds approved for specific rings. Read the full article

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17713 released
Tumblr media
Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 17713 released. Resetting Skip Ahead We are getting close to the point in the development cycle where our focus will be on stabilization for RS5. As part of the stabilization process, we have “forked” RS5 into its own branch called “RS5_RELEASE” just like we did for RS4 and RS3 before that. Insiders will see this branch change with today’s build. And like we did with RS3 and RS4, we are getting ready to start releasing builds to Insiders who choose to “skip ahead” to the next release of Windows 10. These builds will come from the RS_PRERELEASE branch. However, this time we are doing a complete reset of Skip Ahead. Insiders who previously opted in to Skip Ahead will be automatically put back into the Fast ring. The option to join Skip Ahead will disappear from the dropdown under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Insider Program. In the coming weeks, we will make an announcement that we have re-opened Skip Ahead for Insiders to opt-in. If you were previously in Skip Ahead, you will need to opt-in again. Our goal by resetting Skip Ahead is to allow Insiders who previously missed being able to opt-in to be able to do so as well as clear out some PCs that haven’t been active. Skip Ahead will remain capped with a limit and once that limit has been met, Insiders will no longer be able to opt-in. Stay tuned for an announcement in the coming weeks from us when we re-open Skip Ahead with more details. Microsoft Edge Improvements Per-site media autoplay controls: You can now control autoplay permissions on a per-site basis under the “Website permission” section of the Website Identification pane – just click the information icon or lock icon on the left side of the address bar and click “manage permissions” to get started. Lookup definitions for words in Reading View, Books, and PDFs: We’ve added a new dictionary function, so you can look up definitions for key words when reading a page or document. Simply select a single word to see the definition appear above your selection. You can choose to have a word read aloud to you to hear the correct pronunciation or expand more details from the definition. You can toggle whether definitions appear and which types of content they work in under the “General” tab of the Microsoft Edge settings menu. Microsoft Edge PDF Reader Improvements Improved toolbar options: The toolbar available on a PDF document opened in Microsoft Edge will now show text descriptions for the icons to make them easily understandable. by the users. New options like “Add notes” are now available in the toolbar so that these tools are handy when you need them. Pin/unpin PDF toolbar: The toolbar can now be pinned at the top of the document, making all the PDF tools easily accessible if you need them. You can also unpin the toolbar for an immersive reading experience. If the toolbar is unpinned, it will hide itself – just hover over the top area to bring it back. Rendering improvements: We’ve included a bunch of rendering performance fixes with this build. Now you will see less and less of the white pages when you navigate through PDF files in Microsoft Edge. Notepad Improvements With Build 17666, we introduced extended line ending support for Notepad. We’re excited to share that today’s build has a few more surprises in store based on what you’ve been telling us! Wrap-around find/replace: We’ve made significant improvement to the find/replace experience in Notepad. We added the option to do wrap-around find/replace to the find dialog and Notepad will now remember previously entered values and the state of checkboxes and automatically populate them the next time you open the find dialog. Additionally, when you have text selected and open the find dialog we will automatically populate the search field with the selected text. Text zooming: We’ve added options to make it quick and easy to zoom text in Notepad. There is a new menu option under View > Zoom to change the zoom level and we display the current zoom level in the status bar. You can also use Ctrl + Plus, Ctrl + Minus and Ctrl + MouseWheel to zoom in and out and use Ctrl + 0 to restore the zoom level to the default. Line numbers with word-wrap: A long outstanding request has been to add the ability to display line and column numbers when word-wrap is enabled. This is now possible in Notepad and we’ve made the status bar visible by default. You can still turn the status bar off in the View menu. Other Improvements: We’ve improved the performance when opening large files in Notepad. Notepad now supports Ctrl + Backspace to delete the previous word. Arrow keys now correctly unselect text first and then move the cursor. When saving a file in Notepad, the line and column number no longer reset to 1. Notepad now correctly displays lines that don’t fit entirely on the screen. Remote Desktop with Biometrics We’re happy to share that with this build of Windows 10, Azure Active Directory and Active Directory users using Windows Hello for Business can use biometrics to authenticate to a remote desktop session! Note: This feature does not work with convenience PIN. To get started, bring up Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc.exe), type the name of the computer to which you want to connect and click Connect. Because you signed using Windows Hello for Business, Windows remembers how you signed in and automatically selects Windows Hello for Business to authenticate you to your RDP session but, you can click More choices to choose alternate credentials. In this example, Windows uses facial recognition to authenticate the RDP session to the Windows Server 2016 Hyper-V server. You can continue to use Windows Hello for Business in the remote session, but you must use your PIN. Web Sign-in to Windows 10 Until now, Windows logon only supported the use of identities federated to ADFS or other providers that support the WS-Fed protocol. We are introducing “Web Sign-in,” a new way of signing into your Windows PC. Web Sign-in enables Windows logon support for  non-ADFS federated providers (e.g. SAML). To try out Web Sign-in: Azure AD Join your Windows 10 PC. (Note: Web Sign-in is only supported on Azure AD Joined PCs). 2. Set the following policy to enable Web Sign-in (Policy CSP/Authentication/EnableWebSignIn) 3. On the lock screen, select Web Sign-in under Sign-in options. 4. Click on the “Sign in” button to continue. Faster sign-in to a Windows 10 shared PC Do you have shared PCs deployed in your work place? Do you wish that signing in to a PC with your account was faster? Starting with this build, we are introducing “Fast Sign-in,” which enables users to sign in to a shared Windows 10 PC in a flash! To enable Fast Sign in, Set up a shared or guest PC with Windows 10 Set the following policy to enable Fast Sign in (Policy CSP/Authentication/EnableFastFirstSignIn) With the policy enabled, sign-in to a shared PC with your account and notice the difference! Windows Defender Application Guard Improvements Windows Defender Application Guard introduced a new user interface inside Windows Security in this release. Standalone users can now install and configure their Windows Defender Application Guard settings in Windows Security without needing to change Registry key settings. Additionally, users who are managed by enterprise policies will be able to check their settings to see what their administrators have configured for their machines to better understand the behavior of Windows Defender Application Guard. This new UI aims to improve the overall experience for users to manage and check their Windows Defender Application Guard settings. As long as devices meet the minimum requirements, these settings will appear in Windows Security. To check this out, go to Windows Security and select App & browser control. Select Install Windows Defender Application Guard under Isolated browsing, install and restart the device (only for standalone users). Select Change Application Guard settings. Configure or check Application Guard Settings. Inking Updates We introduced the embedded handwriting panel with the April 2018 Update, and after taking some time to refine the experience based on your feedback, in RS5 the embedded handwriting will now be the default experience for text entry with a pen in modern applications. Just tap a text area, like a search box, and it will expand to give you a comfortable area in which to write. You can even edit what you’ve written with simple, intuitive gestures. In places where embedded handwriting doesn’t support your language or isn’t supported by the app (e.g. legacy Win32 applications), you can still invoke the floating handwriting panel. General changes, improvements, and fixes We fixed an issue where the state of a Narrator command such as toggling Scan Mode on and off, volume up and down, voice speed, changing verbosity and context verbosity commands may not be announced when executed. We fixed an issue where you could see pixel thin lines in the fluent shadows depending on where the popup UI had been invoked. We fixed an issue where some of the text on the Settings > Privacy > File System page under “Allow apps to access your Filesystem” has some unusual characters in the place of spaces. We’ve made some improvements to the performance when loading the Language Settings page. We fixed an issue where powercfg /batteryreport was missing numbers in certain languages. We fixed an issue resulting in some apps failing to update via the Microsoft Store with error 0x8007019A if the update was paused and then resumed. We’ve adjusted the design of the “Settings and more”/“…” menu in Microsoft Edge so that the text “New inPrivate window” will no longer be clipped and added tips about the keyboard shortcuts for creating a new window and new inPrivate window. We fixed an issue where imported favorites on favorites bar in Microsoft Edge may not always load favicons. We fixed an issue that could result in an unclosable inPrivate window if it was created by dragging an inPrivate tab out of an existing Microsoft Edge window. We fixed an issue resulting comments with markdown on github.com not previewing correctly in Microsoft Edge. When viewing the certificate details for a website in Microsoft Edge, the text is now selectable so you can copy it out if needed. We fixed an issue resulting in some sites showing an unexpected small blank tooltip when hovering over text fields in Microsoft Edge in the previous flight. We fixed an issue where Ctrl-key combos on the wide touch keyboard layout wouldn’t work in website text fields when using Microsoft Edge. We fixed an issue resulting in an open PDF in Microsoft Edge crashing in the previous flight if you right-clicked on the PDF to bring up the generic context menu. We fixed a high hitting DWM crash in the previous flight. Known issues  We are currently working to resolve a known issue in Build 17713 that is causing Window Recovery Environment (WinRE) to be inaccessible and causing Recovery/Reset scenarios to be blocked. ‘Reset this PC’ and ‘Advanced Startup’ options under Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery are affected and not working as designed. As recovery is critical we anticipate resolving this issue in the next build release. We’re progressing in our work on adding dark theme in File Explorer and the Common File Dialog – you’ll notice improvements in this build, although we still have a few things left to do. You may see some unexpectedly light colors in these surfaces when in dark mode and/or dark on dark text. In certain cases on PCs with multiple monitors, all the windows may appear shifted “up” and the mouse inputting to the wrong location. The workaround is use Ctrl + Alt + Del to bring up the task screen and then hit cancel. Repeat as necessary. When you upgrade to this build you’ll find that the taskbar flyouts (network, volume, etc) no longer have an acrylic background. We’re working on improving settings for HDR videos, games and apps in a new Windows HD Color page under System > Display. Some things temporarily will not work; notably, some users will not be able to enable/disable HDR display support. Applications that use ICC color profiles may encounter errors such as Access Denied. This includes the Color Management control panel, and color profile switching on certain Surface devices. When you use the Ease of Access Make Text bigger setting, you might see text clipping issues, or find that text is not increasing in size everywhere. You may find that when interacting with any “…” menu in a modern app (for example Microsoft Store) clicking the items will just dismiss the menu. While the menu is open, if you move your mouse to the opposite side of the app you should find a place where the menu items will become highlighted and you can interact with the menu. You can also use the keyboard while to menu is open to interact with it. The icon for Delivery Optimization in Settings is broken in this build (you’ll see a box). Known issues for Developers If you install any of the recent builds from the Fast ring and switch to the Slow ring – optional content such as enabling developer mode will fail. You will have to remain in the Fast ring to add/install/enable optional content. This is because optional content will only install on builds approved for specific rings. Known issues for Narrator We are aware of an issue causing Narrator speech to fade when waking from sleep mode. We are working on a fix. Known Issues for Game bar The framerate counter chart sometimes doesn’t show up correctly over known games. The CPU chart shows an incorrect percentage of usage in the top left corner. Charts in the performance panel don’t update immediately when clicking through tabs. The user’s gamerpic doesn’t display correctly, even after signing in. Read the full article

Windows 10 SDK Preview Build 18970 released
Tumblr media
Windows 10 SDK Preview Build 18970 released.
Tools Updates:
Message Compiler (mc.exe) Now detects the Unicode byte order mark (BOM) in .mc files. If the If the .mc file starts with a UTF-8 BOM, it will be read as a UTF-8 file. Otherwise, if it starts with a UTF-16LE BOM, it will be read as a UTF-16LE file. If the -u parameter was specified, it will be read as a UTF-16LE file. Otherwise, it will be read using the current code page (CP_ACP).Now avoids one-definition-rule (ODR) problems in MC-generated C/C++ ETW helpers caused by conflicting configuration macros (e.g. when two .cpp files with conflicting definitions of MCGEN_EVENTWRITETRANSFER are linked into the same binary, the MC-generated ETW helpers will now respect the definition of MCGEN_EVENTWRITETRANSFER in each .cpp file instead of arbitrarily picking one or the other). Windows Trace Preprocessor (tracewpp.exe) Now supports Unicode input (.ini, .tpl, and source code) files. Input files starting with a UTF-8 or UTF-16 byte order mark (BOM) will be read as Unicode. Input files that do not start with a BOM will be read using the current code page (CP_ACP). For backwards-compatibility, if the -UnicodeIgnore command-line parameter is specified, files starting with a UTF-16 BOM will be treated as empty. Now supports Unicode output (.tmh) files. By default, output files will be encoded using the current code page (CP_ACP). Use command-line parameters -cp:UTF-8 or -cp:UTF-16 to generate Unicode output files.Behavior change: tracewpp now converts all input text to Unicode, performs processing in Unicode, and converts output text to the specified output encoding. Earlier versions of tracewpp avoided Unicode conversions and performed text processing assuming a single-byte character set. This may lead to behavior changes in cases where the input files do not conform to the current code page. In cases where this is a problem, consider converting the input files to UTF-8 (with BOM) and/or using the -cp:UTF-8 command-line parameter to avoid encoding ambiguity. TraceLoggingProvider.h Now avoids one-definition-rule (ODR) problems caused by conflicting configuration macros (e.g. when two .cpp files with conflicting definitions of TLG_EVENT_WRITE_TRANSFER are linked into the same binary, the TraceLoggingProvider.h helpers will now respect the definition of TLG_EVENT_WRITE_TRANSFER in each .cpp file instead of arbitrarily picking one or the other). In C++ code, the TraceLoggingWrite macro has been updated to enable better code sharing between similar events using variadic templates. Signing your apps with Device Guard Signing We are making it easier for you to sign your app. Device Guard signing is a Device Guard feature that is available in Microsoft Store for Business and Education. Signing allows enterprises to guarantee every app comes from a trusted source. Our goal is to make signing your MSIX package easier.

Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18970 released
Tumblr media
Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18970 released.
What’s new in Build 18970
Introducing a new tablet experience for 2-in-1 convertible PCs!
Tumblr media
We are beginning to roll out a new tablet experience for 2-in-1 convertible PCs as a Beta to Windows Insiders. This new experience allows users entering tablet posture to stay in the familiar desktop experience without interruption, plus a few key touch improvements: Increased spacing between Taskbar icons.Search box on taskbar collapsed into an icon.File Explorer switches to touch optimized layout.Touch keyboard auto invokes when you tap text fields. As part of this, we’ve also made a few small changes to the tablet section in Settings. This experience is currently available for a portion of Insiders as we evaluate the quality. Here are the steps once it becomes available on your PC: Use your convertible PC as a laptop as you normally would–opening apps and interacting with them. When you’re ready to pick it up and go or simply lean back on the couch, you can fold back the keyboard or remove it altogether, and it should switch to this new mode shown above. Now use your device as a tablet with touch.
Recovery Improvements
Introducing a new Reset this PC option–Cloud Download Reset this PC now provides users a new choice to download Windows or use local reinstall. Previously, Reset this PC was only able to do a local reinstall and would build a new Windows installation from existing Windows files. When this feature was introduced in Windows 10 version 1507, it provided the advantage of enabling Windows to be recoverable without requiring extra disk space to store a compressed, backup copy of Windows in a hidden partition. We’ve heard feedback that some of you would prefer to use your high-speed internet connection to speed up this process by just downloading Windows. Important note: This is a recovery operation and will remove apps you have installed. Additionally, if the “Remove everything” option is selected, user data will also be deleted. The cloud download option will reinstall the same build, version, and edition, that is currently installed on your device. This new cloud download option is available to all Windows 10 devices and is different from the “Recover from the cloud” feature available on some earlier Windows 10 devices. Known issues The cloud download option is not currently working when specific optional features are installed. The process will begin, but an error will occur and roll back the changes. To work around this issue, remove the optional features before trying the cloud download option. We’ll let you know once this issue has been resolved. The optional features are: EMS and SAC Toolset for Windows 10, IrDA infrared, Print Management Console, RAS Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK), RIP Listener, all RSAT tools, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Windows Fax and Scan, Windows Storage Management, Wireless Display, WMI SNMP Provider.

Starting in recent Insider builds, Windows Home and Pro users without a first party backup solution will now see a friendly reminder to consider setting up a backup option that is included with Windows. If you’d prefer to turn this off, there’s an option to do so in the notification. We’re working on addressing feedback about the acrylic in certain surfaces not appearing immediately. In this build, it’s fixed for Start menu, the volume flyout, the network flyout, the clock & calendar flyout, and notification toasts. We’ve made some bug fixes and improvements to Magnifier reading capabilities.Improved Magnifier performance when moving the mouse around the screen. We resolved an issue where Control + Alt + L would not put Magnifier into Lens mode.No one likes bugs, so we squashed several of them related to the new text cursor indicator. Text cursor indicator now appears and disappears more reliably. We also fixed an issue where text cursor indicator preview in settings did not change size when text scaling was on.We have made improvements in Magnifier reliability. We fixed an issue where the File Explorer search suggestions weren’t being read out by Narrator. We fixed an issue in Narrator where it would speak “unknown” if you had the “Header Status” column enabled within Outlook as you arrowed between different email messages. We fixed a couple Narrator dialog reading issues. Narrator would sometimes speak “empty document” or stop the dialog reading too early. We fixed an issue where Narrator would not always speak the group name of a radio button on web pages. We fixed an issue with Narrator and Excel not speaking the column header when arrowing between cells in a table. We fixed an issue where Narrator would only speak “item” when navigating by table cells in an Outlook email instead of reading the entire cell’s contents.Narrator will now read webpages from the top of the page and not at the main landmark with a fallback to find a paragraph. Thank you for your feedback!Narrator now supports the aria-haspopup property.Improved Outlook performance and stability when reading mail messages in Outlook. We have made improvements in Narrator reliability. We made a change to Narrator input learning, so you just have to press Narrator + 1 once to turn input learning off. Thank you for your feedback. We fixed an issue when a user navigated to a webpage in Edge, Narrator would read just the URL field and not the webpage. We fixed an issue when a user was replying to an email in Outlook, Narrator was automatically reading the message while the user was trying to type.
Known issues
There has been an issue with older versions of anti-cheat software used with games where after updating to the latest 19H1 Insider Preview builds may cause PCs to experience crashes. We are working with partners on getting their software updated with a fix, and most games have released patches to prevent PCs from experiencing this issue. To minimize the chance of running into this issue, please make sure you are running the latest version of your games before attempting to update the operating system. We are also working with anti-cheat and game developers to resolve similar issues that may arise with the 20H1 Insider Preview builds and will work to minimize the likelihood of these issues in the future. Some Realtek SD card readers are not functioning properly. We are investigating the issue. We’re working on a fix for an issue resulting in the minimize, maximize, and close title bar buttons not working for certain apps. If you’re using an impacted app, Alt+F4 should work as expected to close the app if needed.Text on Devices pages in Settings for “Bluetooth and Other Devices” and “Printers and Scanners” isn’t rendering correctly.Search isn’t working for Insiders using certain display languages, including Polish. If you are impacted by this, switching your display language to English then back to your preferred display language should resolve it. Read the full article

Windows 10 SDK Preview Build 18965 released
Tumblr media
Windows 10 SDK Preview Build 18965 released.
Tools Updates
Signing your apps with Device Guard Signing
