PoliZ's WIP Update - 14 May 2025

Last week was a bust (out of town again) but I tried to make up for a bit this week. I touched 3 fics (2 new and 1 WIP) for a total of 1959 words this week - nearly all on one fic.

I’m juggling 10-ish active/semi-active WIPs with my current deadlines being the Tony Stark and Beginning bingos.

See below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc. As always, feel free to send me prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding any of these projects or any other WIPs I’ve got out there. Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Character A/Character B Bingo [CACBB]

The Character A/Character B blog () & Discord server run a bingo where you get monthly 3x3 themed cards - I managed two fills on my February Rare Pair Bingo card - might sign up for June's card if I get my writing mojo back on a semi-consistent basis.

Beginnings Bingo [BB_25] (Ends 31 May 2025)

This new all-fandoms bingo event (courtesy of @sweetspicybingo) celebrates beginnings. I’ve got a 3x3 card with nine fills - will be getting a blackout with using both Alt prompts - trying for at least one more square before the event ends!

* A2 - first impression - Combined this with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF289 Blinding Gaze] for Close Encounters of the Blue-Eyed Kind - a Stony College AU meet cute/meet ugly with Tony literally running into Steve. It came in as a double drabble (200 words) and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends.

* A3 - first apartment - filled with with A Misplaced Companion - another Flash Fiction Friday crossover with [#FFF303 Out Of The Box] where Bucky’s packing up to move out of his first apartment and in with Clint. Unfortunately, Alpine goes missing along the way. It came in at 462 words.

* B1 - first breakup - Combined this with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF302 Talk to Me ] for We Can’t See Eye To Eye - CA;CW compliant Tony x Pepper breakup ficlet. It came in at 238 words and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends.

* C3 - first victim - May be filling this with a Tony & Bruce ficlet where they’re discussing the Winter Soldier. It’s sitting at 123 words and will (hopefully) get posted before the event is over.

* Alt1 - first heartbreak - Filled this with Tomorrow You’ll Be Worlds Away - a crossover with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF304 One Day More] that’s Steve’s POV of his and Bucky’s last day together before Sergeant Barnes ships out. It came in at 338 words.

Tony Stark Bingo - Mark VIII [TSB_R8] (Ends 31 May)

This amazing bingo event from the folks over at @tonystarkbingo is heading towards the finish line! I have twenty-eight squares filled - may try to pick up another adoptable or two before the event ends.

* T3 - KINK: praise kink Combined this with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF290 Midnight Distractions] Sweet (Tech) Talk where a pining!Steve visits Tony’s workshop late at night and the way he’s sweet-talking his tech sends Steve’s mind right into the gutter. It came in at 456 words and will get posted to Ao3 before the event is over.

* Oct Adoptable: Facial Hair Bros - Posted New Kid in Town to Ao3. It’s a double drabble that crossed over with the Flash Fic Friday prompt [#FFF287 I Can’t Stand It]. Tony is complaining to Pepper about that so-called wizard stealing his look - she thinks Tony doth protest too much.

*Apr Adoptable - Wingfic: Adopted this prompt with the intent to work on/wrap up Half of the Flesh and Blood that Makes Me Whole - my post CA:WS canon divergent fic where Steve brings Bucky back to the Tower. (Re)Established Stucky → Stuckony. I pulled in my WIB O1 - Tony’s Workshop and FFB Dec B2 - FREE squares as well. I’ve got Chapter Eight drafted at 1380 words and hope to have it posted on Friday.

Post July Break Bingo 2024 [pJBB_24] (Ends 30 Jun 2025)

I requested two 2x3 cards for this Discord-server only event from @julybreakbingo. I have ten fics posted with a blackout on one card & 0 WIPs - need to figure out some more crossovers.

* C1_C1 - “What are we?” - Combined this with the YOTP March prompt Florist/Tattoo Artist AU, my FFB Feb - A1- Body Art square and the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF298 Hidden Chemistry] for More Than An Inkling, where Tony is all too aware of the trope and tries to resist the chemistry he has with his next-door business neighbor. It came in at 373 words and will get posted before this event ends.

Hot Bucky Summer [HBS_25] (Ends 30 Aug 2025)

This steamy event - brought to you by the fine folks over at @bucky - is a go for this year! Weekly themes and prompts (as well as the rules) have been posted here on Tumblr and starting June 1st - participants can create whatever their smutty (or not so smutty) hearts desire! I’ve picked out a few prompts to work with - my goal is to complete at least two fics/month, with a stretch goal of creating something for every week!

Gingerbread Edition (December) - Ends 30 Nov 2025

Six of nine fills completed - no WIPs at the moment

* A2 - "I can't believe you!" Combined this with last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF299 Stranger Than Fiction] for Caught In the Act - a Tony & Pepper IM1 canon-compliant double drabble - expanding a bit on the scene where Pepper walks in on Tony being extricated from the armor after Gulmira. It came in at 200 words and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends.

* B3 - Fake dating, real feelings - Posted Something To Talk About as a crossover with the April YOTP prompts Pranks & “Right in front of my salad!” - Tony suggests a prank where he and Bucky pretend to have had sex with each other; it backfires in the best way. It came in at 975 words and posted this morning.

* C1 - Juice - Posted It’s Going to Take a Miracle (Berry) to Ao3 last week. This ficlet combined the Flash Fic Friday prompt [#FFF296 Before the party’s over] and the YOTP March: “What are you doing with that?” prompt in a No Powers workplace AU where Tony brings something to experiment with at the monthly team brunch; his crush gets involved. It came in at 526 words.

Half-Baked Edition (February) - Ends 31 Jan 2026

Six of nine fills completed with one bingo - no WIPs at the moment.

* A1- Body Art – see pJBB C1_C1 - “What are we?” above

* B2 - FREE - I combined this with a previous Flash Fiction Friday prompt [FFF#294 - Cursed Trio] for Horning In - a SamBuckyJoaquin ficlet where Brock tries to hit on Sam’s two partners at the club. It came in at 222 words and will get posted to Ao3 before this event ends.

Fool's Edition (April) - Ends 31 March 2026

Three fills and 0 WIPs

* A2 - "I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve." - Combined this with three Flash Fic Friday prompts: prompts: [#FFF300 Let Me Go] [#FFF300 Burn It Down] [#FFF300 Rise and Fall] for A Mysterious Musician - a No Powers College AU WinterIron fic where Tony falls at first sight for the singer of a local band, only to discover that he knows him from somewhere else. It came in at 747 words and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. I may expand it at some point before posting to Ao3.

* Alt 2 - Muscles - Posted Offering A Hand last Friday. It’s a crossover with an older Flash Fic Friday prompt [#FFF295 Help Not Wanted] for a No Powers AU where Tony happens across two hunks, one of whom might qualify for a Stark Industries program. It came in at 575 words.

Year of the OTP [YOTP_25] (Ends Dec 31 2025)

Making good progress on this challenge where you create (at least) twelve works for a specific pairing by using the monthly prompts provided. I’m a bit of an over-achiever with eight prompts filled so far!

@winterironevents is bringing back their WinterIron Bingo for a third round! I help co-mod this event and we will have pre-made cards available probably starting next month. I've got one fill and 1 WIP so far need to look for more crossovers with my active cards! .

Pairing: Dean Winchester x Avenger!Fem!Reader

Word Count: ~2k

Warnings: angst, anxiety and being paranoid

Summary: As much as Dean wants to help you, his methods aren't working and you're getting worse. You turn to your brother and a trusted friend to try and help, but you might have to create the reality that this Mark doesn't want to part from you.

The Mark craves power and you have a steady source of it on your other wrist. The effects for Dean were different because he was a human with no powers to supply the Mark. He had to kill in order to satisfy it whereas you’re in a constant state of wanting to kill something and using your powers to feed the Mark.

All you want is to get the damn thing off your wrist. Taking it at the time seemed fine but now that you’ve had time with it, you don’t like the evil presence it has. There is something dark and dangerous about this that you don’t like and you’re not sure how to part from it. What Dean showed you--the alcohol, the shooting, the rage room--helped a little bit, but now you’re back to how you felt before.

Anxious, paranoid, stressed, and everything else that makes you question the motives of everyone around you. Stephen isn’t much help either even though he says he’s trying to figure out a way to get it off you. What if he isn’t? What if he says he is and doesn’t have any intentions of helping you? What if everyone around you is against you?

“Y/N, you need to calm down,” Dean says.

You keep pacing the length of the library while muttering to yourself and scratching the arm the Mark is on. Sam, Dean, and Castiel are standing off to the side watching you with worried looks.

“I can’t. Get this thing off me. Please tell me you can get it off me,” you whimper and continue to pace.

“Cas?” Sam asks.

“If I couldn’t get it off of Dean, what makes you think I can get it off an Infinity Stone?”

“Will someone tell me they can get this damn thing off me?!” you shout.

Every source of light flickers on and off, and the tables shake from the intensity of your voice.

“Y/N, we’re trying--”

“I know you are,” you cut him off. You try to force yourself to calm down because you don’t want him to worry. If he knew the damage it’s doing to you, he’d only feel guilty for forcing you to take it. “How did you get it off in the first place?”

“The Book of the Damned,” Sam answers. “We could try that again.��

“Do you know what happened the last time we used that thing? Amara got free and terrorized Earth. God and Amara are locked up. If we use that thing, they will be free and who knows what will happen because of it.”

“We live in a world with magic and wizards. Someone out there has to know how to get this off me and keep it contained so they don’t get out.” You stop pacing when you think of that word. Magic. Stephen isn’t the only one who knows how to do magic. “I think I know someone who might be able to help.”

“Who?”

“My brother and his wife live in Westview. He’s not magical but his wife is. I think she can help.” You look at Dean. “Do you want to come with me?”

“Why not? I’m not doing anything else,” he shrugs.

“Let me know how it goes,” Sam says.

You create a portal to Westview which is at a different timezone than Kansas. The city of Westview is small and isolated from the other towns but the people seem happy there. Vision gave you his address when he and Wanda first moved there in case you ever needed him, and now you’re taking him up on that offer.

You easily find their house and see kids’ toys and bikes all in the yard. You knew they were trying to have children but didn’t know they managed to do it. He’s not human so he can’t produce sperm. She must have used magic to bring her children to life. You walk up the porch steps and knock on the door rapidly. The door opens and Vision stands there looking like a real human being. No stone in his head and wearing a suit and tie like he has somewhere important to be.

“What did she do to you?” you ask.

“Y/N, it’s good to see you. Come in.”

“No seriously, what did she do to you?” you ask and walk inside.

“It’s to help him blend in,” Wanda says from the stairs. “We both agreed it would be easier on the town if they saw him this way.”

“Right.”

“What are you doing here?” Vision asks.

“I need your wife’s help.” Dean clears his throat and he shuffles from one foot to the next. “Um, right. Dean, meet my brother, Vision, and his wife, Wanda. This is Dean, my…”

“Friend,” Dean says for you and shake both their hands. You’re not sure if that’s what you two are but it’s so hard to focus on other things when your head is always pounding. Though, you feel some sort of disappointment at being called his friend. “Nice to meet you.”

“What’s wrong?” Wanda asks.

You open your mouth to explain to her what’s going on when you notice Dean looking at you. You can’t do this with him listening. Two seconds later, his phone rings and he steps off to the side to answer it. Now’s your chance. You explain to both of them what you did for Sam and Dean, how it affected Sam, how you took the Mark off him, and how you took it on. You explain everything as fast as you can without leaving anything out, and you show both of them to Mark on your wrist.

“I‘m falling apart over here, Vis. I can’t tell Dean any of this because he’ll feel worse than he already does. I thought I’d be able to handle something like this. I’m the Time Stone. I know power but this is unlike anything I’ve ever come across in the universe. This is something evil. Please, you have to do something to help me.”

“Have you talked to Dr. Strange?”

“Yes and he says he’s working on it but he’s taking too long. I need it off now. Isn’t there anything the Mind Stone can do?”

“Let me see.”

You hold your hand out for him to examine the Mark. Dean comes back and looks a bit worried.

“Who was that? Are you okay?”

“It’s Sam. He caught a vampire case.”

“Do you need to go?”

“No, he’s got Cas. Can they get it off?”

“He’s looking at it.”

Vision runs his thumb across the Mark, and you flinch from how sensitive the flesh is. He turns back into his robotic purple self, and the Mind Stone glows brightly on his forehead. He shoots a light beam onto the Mark to try and minimize the effects it has on you, but it does the opposite. You yank back in pain and cry out from the sudden urge to kill something. A sharp pain shoots up your arm and into your heart.

“I’m sorry. The Mark drew power from me. I’m not sure what it is but it’s powerful and unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”

“May I?” Wanda asks.

“Yes, please.”

She takes her left hand and holds your wrist while red magic comes out of her right hand. Her magic encompasses the Mark as she tries to pull it from your body but the second she does, you two get the shock of your life. Both of you are blown back to opposite walls, and she cries out in pain when her magic bounces back into herself. You fall into the wall where a couple of picture frames fall on your head, and Dean rushes over to you to help you up.

“What the hell happened?”

“The Mark doesn’t want to leave you. It found a source of power it doesn’t want to part from,” Wanda explains. “I can’t help you.”

“There’s nothing you can do?” you bite your lip worriedly and lean into Dean’s side.

“Wakanda might be able to help,” Vision says and holds his wife close. “They tried separating the stone from me, and Shuri nearly succeeded. Maybe they can separate the stone from you, and the Mark won’t have any use for you.”

“Fine. Thanks for trying.”

You create a portal to Wakanda right outside their dome because you don’t want to go in the middle of the city and have them start firing at you. Dean has never been out of the country much less to Africa, so this is all new to him. It takes some effort but the border is open for you and Dean to pass through.

The Dora Milaje meets you halfway to the castle and escorts you the rest of the way where Shuri, Queen Ramonda, and King T’Challa are. Again, you explain to them what is going on with you and keep out the part about how much it’s destroying you since Dean is here. He’s distracted and taking pictures to send to Sam but you keep it vague right now.

“Vision and Wanda couldn’t help and they suggested you, Shuri. I don’t know what else to do, and you nearly succeeded in getting that stone out of my brother.”

“Follow me.”

She and her brother take you inside the castle and down to the lab, all the while Dean is gasping at everything he sees and taking even more pictures.

“Sorry about him,” you mutter.

“It’s not a problem,” T’Challa smiles. “Just no pictures of the lab.”

“Yeah, you got it,” Dean nods.

“So, this is the same process as with Vision, right? Removing the Mind Stone is the same as removing the Time Stone from me?”

“Each stone is complicated in its own way, but I will definitely try.”

Shuri and T’Challa look at each other, and you see the unspoken words between them.

“What is it?”

“The only issue is that Vision is more than just the stone. He’s Jarvis, Ultron, Bruce, and Tony all rolled into one person. You’re just the stone. It’s going to be a lot harder to separate it from you.”

“But Stephen Strange is the one who did this to me. I have a part of him inside me, right?”

“Right. It’s not impossible, just more difficult. Come.”

You look at Dean once before following Shuri into the back room where she once worked on Vision. This time, there isn’t a threat looming outside so you think she’ll have all the time she needs to get this done. She hooks you up and starts diagnosing the stone before actually starting to remove it.

As soon as she’s ready, she begins trying to separate the stone from your body. You wince in pain and look away, and Dean walks over to grab your other hand. You smile painfully at him and he rubs his thumb on the back of your hand letting you know he is here for you. Even through all this pain, you still get butterflies whenever he does this sort of thing to you.

“Something is wrong.” You and Dean look at Shuri who looks like she is struggling to separate the millions of nerves attached to you. “It’s fighting back.”

“It’s the Mark that is, not the stone,” you say.

She tries to remove a nerve but what happened with Wanda happens here. She and T’Challa go flying back while you and Dean fly back in the opposite way. The small blast is enough to break the machine Shuri was using, so much so that two Dora Milaje come rushing in with spears thinking their King was attacked.

“We’re okay. Stand down,” T’Challa orders.

“I’m sorry,” you whimper and stand up. “This happened with Wanda but much less damage.”

“The Mark is protecting itself. It doesn’t want to part from the stone so it will do anything to keep it intact.”

“What do I do now?”

“I don’t know,” she sighs.

You fall back into a chair and silently cry at the lack of options.

Imagine a big, open field of grass; some patches are bigger and healthier than others that are dead and brown, but it's all grass. That's my brain, and every blade of grass is a story.

I live, breathe, and sleep stories. There is not a single moment of my life that I don't have some type of story or world being built in my head unless I'm stoned.

Some days, there's not much wind, and I can focus on a few separate blades of grass, some longer and healthier than others, but never any singular blade, always three or five or ten.

Other days it's like a tornado; all the blades morph into one large patch of swaying green that all demand my attention all at once. It's overwhelming and makes me incapable of writing because every time I start, I have fifty other stories pushing their way to the front.

Dear Yuletide Author,

Happy Yuletide season! My favorite time of the fandom year :). I am always happy with any gift, so no pressure and feel free to ignore any prompts/suggestions!

Without further ado, my requests!

1) Rivers of London (up through Foxglove Summer)

I’m getting the other books for Christmas so I doubt I will have read them by Yuletide, so if you could avoid spoilers for anything past Foxglove Summer that would be very kind! But I couldn’t resist requesting RoL anyway, because I am SOMEWHAT OBSESSED. (Also I consume it as audiobooks so apologies for any misspelling!)

Soooo I love Thomas Nightingale an unhealthy amount. Stylish, self-possessed, an INSANE TANK-DESTROYING BADASS, with a dust-dry sense of humor and deeply buried trauma. What’s not to love? I also like Peter although DEAR GOD BOY keep it in your pants, for real. I love their relationship, how seriously Thomas takes his responsibility to Peter as his ‘master’, how exasperated Thomas is with Peter’s experiments (and tendency to only use his brain to make pop culture references).

Ship-wise: I love gen, I like Peter’s love interests (except the jazz vampire, I forget her name) but would prefer a story not focus on his relationships, I personally ship Thomas/Varvara secretly in my heart. I haven’t read any Thomas/Peter but am willing to be convinced!

Things I love: Thomas being a badass, other people talking about how much of a badass Thomas is, master-apprentice dynamics, protectiveness (going either way), Thomas’ adventures pre-RoL, Peter please stop telling people you’re a wizard I’m begging you, daily life in the Folly, Molly and Toby, cop talk

Things I DNW: the usual (rape/non-con, permanent major character death). Canon-typical violence and gore is fine.

2) Dracula

Yes I’m basic and obsessed with Re: Dracula (the podcast), sorry not sorry. I'm also Magnus Archives trash so I have imprinted on Jack Seward like a baby duck, but I love every single character!

So I read this when I was much younger and didn’t really engage with it on a Fannish level, so I’m absolutely delighted by all the tumblr discourse surrounding dracula daily and re: Dracula. Seeing fans talk about this book from 1897 the way they talk about Supernatural is just so weirdly charming to me, so really I don’t have any specific requests re: characters/plot/etc, but I would love to see some old-fashioned fanfic, if that makes sense. Shipping trash, h/c, crossovers, AUs, meta, songfic, bodyswap, genderswap, sex pollen, soulmate, etc -- everything you would ever see on a cliche bingo card. (I’m an Old Fangirl, sue me) What kind of fic would get written if this book had come out in 2005? Or 1995? (Honestly that goes for any of these requests, I love this stuff)

If that doesn’t float your boat, no worries! Things I would love: OT3/4/5/+, Jonathan and Mina OTP 5EVA, Jack/Abraham, Jack and Abe’s adventures when Jack was in school, the Suitors having adventures (esp pre-canon), Everyone is Poly except Dracula, Everyone Is Poly Including Dracula, what-ifs (Lucy vs Mina, Mina vs Jonathan, etc.), Victorian sensibilities, Victorian sensibilities being absolutely wrecked, train travel, boat travel, horse travel, gothic atmosphere

No DNWs for this -- if you want to lean in to the Darker Elements, go for it.

3) Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves

I've been playing DnD for *mumble* years and this movie was the first that really captured how it FEELS to play Dnd. It's not the lore, gods and kingdoms, it's the party of different classes trying to accomplish a small scale task chaotically. I love that you can tell in the movie when they fail a skill check. (Though I am still sad that we didn't get any real Bardic magic from Ed. I love a good bard singing during fights!)

So meta is highly encouraged! Anything acknowledging that it's a game, the rules of the world, etc. would be delightful! Showme the players if you dare haha

I also really enjoy pretty much all the characters from the party, I am a total sucker for Found Family in all its forms! I also adore: Ed and Xenk's ridiculous dynamic, Ed and Holga's platonic bro-hood, Holga as Kira's warrior surrogate mom, Forge and his scheming, Simon's awkward crush on Doric, Jarnathan and the poor patrol board -- basically everyone lol. I adore backstory -- all the stuff that gets referred to in the opening montage, how everyone met, various previous adventures. Or future adventures! Where to next?

Just let me hang out with these doofuses some more haha.

Shipwise I ship Ed/Xenk but am happy with gen, please no Ed/Holga (their platonic-ness is too precious), I think anything else is fair game. DNW: rape/noncon, character death. DND-typical violence/gore are fine (and somewhat encouraged haha)

*Apr Adoptable - Wingfic: Posted Chapter Eight of Half of the Flesh and Blood that Makes Me Whole - my post CA:WS canon divergent fic where Steve brings Bucky back to the Tower. (Re)Established Stucky → Stuckony. I pulled in my WIB O1 - Tony’s Workshop square as well. I will probably wrap this up with an epilogue-ish chapter similar to the original fic that this is a remix of.

I requested two 2x3 cards for this Discord-server only event from @julybreakbingo. I have ten fics posted with a blackout on one card & 1 WIPs - need to figure out some more crossovers.
