[ INTRODUCTORY : la reine de la nuit — a 1920’s hannigram au ]

Set in 1922, it’s just the beginning of the roaring 20’s in America after the great war had ended. Will Graham is a detective from the smaller bits of New Orleans who is called to New York City to help solve a case in a fancier, but more crime-ridden area in upper Manhattan. Will is incredibly good at what he does and is well-known for diving into the minds of killers; the police and detectives in Manhattan are desperate for his help to catch a murderer who roams the streets of the Upper East Side, hunting and “transforming” the rich men who they believe deserve to die.

Hannibal is a renowned surgeon who immigrated from France (he is still Lithuanian but he lived in Paris beforehand with Lady Murasaki and Chiyoh) and is a very wealthy man himself. His daily life consists of saving the lives of those who are ill and conforming to the norms of the higher society to be his most perfect self. He often goes to opera shows and dinner parties with his colleagues, which he usually does not appreciate.

During the night, Hannibal is a very different person. He is very active in the drag and queer community under the name Madame Deyanira de Roux, and attends drag balls in Harlem many nights of the week; which is another place he finds pigs disguised as men that he will transform into what they truly are. Plenty of the filty rich men of New York will go to Harlem to pick up women to use and abuse, which gives Hannibal so many opportunities to stalk and seduce men he finds disgusting enough to kill. He just loves to show New York how these men were nothing more than lowly pigs, despite how much money they had. Will spends weeks looking at what Hannibal has made out of his victims and is honestly fascinated. He sees beyond the other detectives’ idea that this is just to target the rich, but this is to show the world to eat the rude…

*A little info about Hannibal’s drag name is that Deyanira means capable of great destruction and destroyer of men, which I thought suited her quite well. Hannibal also kills all of her victims while in drag as kind of a way to hide her identity.

And I headcanon Hannibal normally as genderqueer and would like to say that in this au Hannibal is still very genderqueer, although that wasn't exactly a term back then. She really just doesn't allow gender to define her because Hannibal is beyond gender. She's more than just a man or a woman. And since it was frowned upon back then to be queer and trans, she uses drag as a way to express herself as more than a singular gender in a safer community.

Later on, Will ends up getting mugged one night and beaten quite badly, but Hannibal was on his way home after a night out and saved Will's ass. They never found the goons who jumped him and it turns out Will was stabbed in the shoulder, so Hannibal takes him home with him to fix him up since he is a surgeon after all. This is how they meet yippay.

✧˚° imagine daisy just trying to watch tv but then stevens spirit appears and tries to insert himself in whatever channel daisys watching lmfao

✧˚° he usually floats abt in his house, and stays in his house’s basement whenever its daytime

✧˚° but oh boy when night time comes, hes all over the place like he is an unstoppable force

✧˚° (^ said unstoppable force casually spends most of his time in his wife’s house)

✧˚° stevens ghost manifesting as different stuff (like a uhhhhh skibidi t /j) in daisys sleep as a prank

✧˚° daisy casually shoving steven into a tamagotchi toy as revenge (“its just a prank babe” - both)

✧˚° steven being angry he cant cuddle or kiss daisy </3 top 10 saddest anime scenes

✧˚° i mean, at least steven can still technically ‘physically’ interact with her by phasing through her body and sending (loving) shivers down her spine!

✧˚° so instead he kinda semi-possesses daisy (aka control her body but still leave her mind intact) and talks to her telepathically

✧˚° steven stimming all over the place a lot because being in daisys body gives him that Feeling of being near/touching Daisy’s Soul Euphoria

✧˚° it would be so cool if daisy gains the black-fade fingers too….

✧˚° everyone confused abt why daisys hugging herself (its actually steven trying to hug her)
