#YOU CAN'T NOT LOVE THRANDUIL WITH THIS KIND OF HCS

Thranduil and the babies of woodland realm
(Head canon collection)
Thranduil would let baby Legolas sit on his lap while having a council meeting and Legolas would sometimes fall asleep on his Ada's lap.
Thranduil has a private garden where he'd sit on a tree branch and watch baby Legolas and baby Tauriel play.
Baby Legolas would sometimes "decorate" his Ada's robes.
Thranduil sings the babies to sleep.
Thranduil let baby Legolas choose materials for his crown.
Baby Tauriel would sometimes call Thranduil "Ada" unconsciously and Thranduil likes it.
Once, baby Legolas accidentally drank his Ada's "beverage" and it almost gave Thranduil a heart attack. So he banned Legolas from drinking.
Thranduil personally braids Legolas's hair.
Thranduil drown himself in wine for a whole week because baby Legolas said "I like Elrond better."
That is. That's everything for now. Ha!

hi!! i've kinda been going through your blog for the past few weeks and can i first say that its incredible!!! i love noodling over worldbuilding so reading all your ideas and the clear amount of thought you put into each headcanon is wonderful and very inspiring as a fellow the-woodland-realm-deserved-more-lore enthusiast haha
im fascinated by the regencies of the princes! it surprised me since ive never encountered that hc before but it makes complete logical and practical sense for a realm so large in its prime!!! i'd love to learn more about that? esp bc (at least from what i was able to find) youve only mentioned it for turhir and rly talked about arvellas's 🥺
thank you!!

Dear Anon: I love you so much! <3 I am flattered and honored and grateful you have discovered and enjoyed my Thranduil/Thranduilion content! Any interest shown in my OC Princes sends my writer's heart to the moon!
Writing my Thranduil/Mirkwood headcanon posts always take a large amount of time, research, and plotting to write. Unfortunately, they get much fewer notes compared to other "off the cuff" Thranduil metas, which kind of sucks but I've learned to make peace with it. What keeps me going is the supportive messages I receive like yours. <3
Please feel free to take whatever you might find useful from my headcanons to inspire or write into your own fics. (This applies to anyone reading this.) I have an "open source" policy on the HCs I write and don't require credit (even though a heads up would be appreciated, 'cause I'd love to see your stuff!). I just want to help fellow writers in the Tolkien fandom.
Your question about the regency of the Thranduilion princes is SUCH a great one! I actually have a WIP draft discussing the different jobs of the princes, in response to another excellent Anon ask. But your question got me so excited that literally at midnight last night I started working on an HC for that immediately. It was worth the shortened sleep, but I think I can have it completed and posted in a few hours. Since I can't tag you on it, I hope you're watching! :)
And finally...
youve only mentioned it for turhir and rly talked about arvellas's 🥺
OMG you really read through all of it, didn't you? Have I told you I love you yet?

🌹!
All y’all people keep tagging me in writing asks but I haven’t written anythingggg 😭 I've just been eh I guess I swinging from being really insecure to actually writing? And funnily enough, not generally insecure about my writing but about my ideas that I'm writing about? Idk I'm pushing myself so thanks who have all tagged me in writing and HCs recently; it'll probably be good for me.
Separate from the 7 day thing, since this is something I already have in my drafts and I've been tagged in two of those so far (help). So I guess one line from the first part of the Submissive Haldir series (lies you get a couple paragraphs because I can't use it for any of the other tags I have and I really like this world building draft I'm working on):

Things were different here in the Hidden Wood than they were at home in the Greenwood.
In Thranduil’s Kingdom, despite the similarity in population numbers to Lórien, there was a substantially higher number of elves trained for combat and that saw combat. Every elf passed basic swordsmanship classes with the Kingsguards so all could at least jab an opponent if necessary. Every elf had a practical skill or one that could become practical.
You yourself had more than once been called to aid in the Healing Halls after a battle to use your needle skills to bind flesh together with thread so it could grow again. It’s not that the Greenwood didn’t have capable Healers, of course, it's simply that help was always needed to fight against the ever-growing Darkness taking your forest and home.
Here, though, every elf had a place, a skill in which they excelled at and did not deviate from. Rúmil’s paintings were an addition to his character, but an artist it did not make him. He was first and foremost a Marchwarden. Here, he could not be both.
Here, you would not be called to sew wounds or tear cloth for bandages. Here, your tapestries hung for decoration rather than hiding chambers or adding layers of protection magic to the winding halls.
Here, you felt actively useless to those you loved.
You sighed again, rubbing a hand against your face, quickly snorting when you realize that you’ve brushed lemon custard across your cheek.
You look at the small plate on the low table and smile softly at the last lemon tart Haldir had pulled from the oven before the emergency call had come. Even from far afield, his small gestures of love and kindness never failed to bring comfort and warmth to your heart. His broad frame held so much tenderness and love in it.

Good luck for your finals! I'm in the same sh*t so I should be supportive and not discract you, but I can't resist an offer for Lotr headcanons *o* Could you feel my some Elrond hc please?
Good luck on yours as well, I’m sure you’ll do great!
Hm…some headcanons for Elrond:
He has a powerful voice, and can convince people to do things when he sings. For example, if Elrond sang “Peace Train” you can bet people would be leaving the Hall of Fire, looking for a train to get on.
He’s a proud warrior, but he’s also SUCH a Dad when he’s with Elladan & Elrohir & Arwen, and his kindness is unwavering. He supports his kids in whatever they do, although it broke his heart that Arwen made the choice of Luthien.
His reunion with Celebrian in the Undying Lands was the most bar-none romantic thing anyone had ever seen. He was finally, after centuries of missing her, so overjoyed to see her healed and whole.
Celebrian is his best friend. When they met, neither one of them really knew how to express their feelings, but they hit it off in a way neither one of them ever had (or ever would) with anyone else.
He is encouragement personified. Unless nobody’s listening to him (ISILDUR! DESTROY IT!) – then he really isn’t.
He can’t cook, but he can do just about anything else. He’s especially good at playing the piano.
He really loves fruit-flavored pie.
He secretly thinks Thranduil is kinda rad, even with his sassy elk and consistent wine-drinking and “too majestic 4 u” attitude.
